i would like a sick naruto banner of naruto, rock lee,and hinata  :D
Please explain what you mean by "sick." What color would you like it to be? What dimension? Would you like text? These are just a few questions you should answer in your first post or no one will respond. Your job is to make it as easy for the artists who are helping you out as possible. It would also be in your interest to read the Official OtakuBoards Rules and the Art by Request Rules so that you know what is expected of you on OB. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Has anyone read this book, and if so, what did you think about it? I'm definitely considering picking it up from the library, and the basic premise of it really grabbed me. The fact that it got the science fiction Triple Crown (the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Memorial Award, and the Hugo Award), and that one of my favorite books, Ender's Game only got two of those three really excites me. So tell me what you thought of it on the whole. I'm not looking for spoilers or a vague plot description, just your views on how good the book was.

Well, in doing away with the "perfection complex," you've sent the entire thing to the other extreme -- a living hell that no one will want to read about. I think you should tone down the horrid versions of all the traditional characters, particularly Robin Hood. I mean, he's a drunkard, a jerk, can't shoot to save his life, and has the ambition of a king. Usually those folks are called the antagonist, certainly not the protagonist. Perhaps give him fair aim and a lukewarm heart.

Like Foredaddy said, you need to keep it simple. You don't need to walk in the park where your conversational skills would be pivotal, you just need to go to a movie and lunch/dinner. I also prefer afternoon dates, because there's more stuff open, movie times are more frequent during noon-time, and the matinee prices are cheaper (a definite bonus if you're buying the tickets). Oh, but most of all, pick what you think is right. Advice from invisible people who live half-way across the world might not be the best, you know? ;)
These are really good. I've just started airbrush, so I know just how freakin difficult it is. My favorites are Sven Vollfied and the last one.
Er, if you could explain what you mean by "really good," that'd be helpful to the artist. As it stands, your compliment is an empty one. And if you could also give a few points of improvement, it would give Cat14 some direction as to where their style should go.
There are different schools of thought on working out. Some people lift weights every day. Some work out different parts of their bodies on different days of the week. What I do is try to get all of my body worked out in a day (takes about an hour and a half) and spend the next day running, or swimming, etc.
I was told that if you exercised the same muscle groups every day you would only break down the muscle. This makes sense, as working out actually causes micro-tears, but when you allow them to rest they rebuild stronger than before. Basically, you need a day where you rest the muscles you just worked out or you won't progress much. However, there are muscles that are dense enough that they need to be worked out every day (calves, abs). Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Okay question, what did that gibberish mean and why am I the one with the spotlight? If you're going to point out something in my posts at least note that I pay attention to politics.[/color']
You're not in the spotlight, I was just replying to you. Since you were the one who wanted the thread to be revived, I thought that you were sort of wanting a renewed discussion of the topic at hand. My reply to you was just saying "Sorry, but I'm tired of the roundabout discussion on the matter, so I won't repost my beliefs for the sake of thread-renewal." Better? :]
Well, I can judge because my stepfather is an extreme conservative who is constantly talking about it. Furthermore, I have to listen to Rush Limbaugh on the radio constantly, another conservative. CNN at least is definitely not conservative. They are constanlty showing Bush-bashing cartoons for commercial transitions. FOX news, however, shows both views a bit more faithfully. So I don't see how you could say that the media is conservative.
I'm shocked that you say FOX shows things "a bit more faithfully," when their biggest talking head is none other than Bill O'Reilly. I was watching him bash liberals and how they were "unpatriotic" since we didn't want the war in Iraq. I mean, FOX was over the top about the war. They were plagued with GOP slant (anchors gung-ho about the war, covering more 'positive' stories about how Iraq was progressing, etc) throughout Bush's presidency. I also think that the sheer about of censoring and filtering going on in our news about Iraq is astounding proof for my point. As I said earlier, I read about the Haditha massacre on BBC News -- it was half a day later when CNN and MSNBC picked up the story. Not to mention that the entire thing happened in November and we heard of it in June.

Naruto flipped up to his feet, growling as the Fox Demon manifested itself on his cheeks in the form of six visceral lines. His face twitched with a calculating rage, directed by his internal monster. No more did his body emanate an orange glow; instead, he was enveloped in a crimson aura that shook the ground he touched. Indeed, four years of training had improved Naruto exponentially. He was a product of his determination and the results were astounding, even to Lee. ?Stop ? laughing at me!? he screamed as his chakra rose into his hands. Within instants, he had one Rasengan in each hand. ?Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, Odama Rasengan!? Upon his command, nine clones appeared around Lee, all of who carried Naruto?s two signature Rasengan. Lee was completely taken aback by Naruto?s sudden jump in power; from a pathetic amount to something equivalent. He was given to time to think or react. Within instants, the group was around him in full force. Lee destroyed two with a jab and a roundhouse kick, but it was not enough. The doppelganger behind him copied Lee?s signature kick, knocking him up into the air. Naruto kicked off of the doppelganger who kicked Lee into the air, and jumped above his opponent. He came down into the approaching Lee, burying both of his Rasengan into his chest. The explosion that resulted was enormous, destroying all of Naruto?s doppelgangers once again.
I'm not really into politics to be honest, but I do agree with the bandwagon idea. People are listening to the media a bit too much, as usual.
Sorry, CHW, but I'm really tired of the "zomfg gheys r teh wr0ngz!1," so I'm not really going to reiterate any of my views. If you're not into politics, then perhaps you're not aware of the horrid job President Bush has been doing these last six years? And if you're not aware of the horrid job he's doing, how could you judge if his approval rating is a bandwagon or the pure truth? Furthermore, the media is extremely conservative (FOX News, I'm looking at you) and censored to a high degree. For instance, that raid in Haditha happened in November. We heard of it Stateside in mid-June. There have been other stories that the BBC has covered that no American news channels have reported to any degree.

I find that if the bully isn't really violent towards you but just talks alot of trash, ignoring them is the best way to go. A "F**k you" might only encourage them to keep going. My mother taught me that bullies pick on people for a human response. If you deprive them of that response, it's not fun for them anymore. My personal experience was that a few seniors kept making fun of me, but I acted like they did exist and kept talking to whomever I was talking to at the moment. A week later they gave up. It might not work in all cases, but it's certainly something to consider if you're not looking for a militant way to deal with them.

Nintendo > Japan > World War II > The Holocaust I'm hoping I don't need to cite the sentences, you can find them by just hitting ctrl+f. I just wanted to reply to reserve my spot on the next one, I'll make it in a second. Edit: Alright, so I made this one alot harder (in my opinion), since you got it so quickly. John F. Kennedy > Pittura Metafisica. Suffer.

In theory, couldn't someone 'cheat' by adding in a link to a vital page in the chain and just adding in a strong sentence to blend in? I got it a different way, and I can't follow your steps, Baron. Please note that the bold word is the link to the next page. [Underworld (2003 film) - Sequels] // START The follow-up story, Underworld: Evolution, was released January 20, 2006. [2006 - Information Box] Years: 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 [2007 - Fiction] The Transformers arrive on Earth (The Transformers). [Transformers (2007 film)] // END If I got it (I'll leave that for the opening poster to decide), here's my challenge: Taipei 101 to Rock and roll. Yes, it's possible. I believe it's exactly six links unless someone else is doing extensive digging.

OOC: Alright, we agreed to the rules of engagement via AIM.
Five Lifegates are allowed to be opened while four of Naruto's tails can be unleashed.
I still have a bad feeling about this, though... heh. ?Oh, good, it?s you. I thought I was being pursued, but you?re the guy I?m looking for. Kakashi sent me to spar with you. It?s a test to see who trained their student better, him or Gai.? ?Then we both know who?s gonna win. You?d better turn back,? Lee said with a confident smirk. ?Exactly, I?m gonna kick your ass!? Naruto grinned back at him, then stopped and frowned seconds later. The chakra emanating from Naruto spiked as he prepared himself for battle against a very worthy foe. The burning desire to prove his worth manifested itself in his eyes. Determination and strength glared through them at Lee. His opponent, who was inevitably thinking the same thing, mirrored the countenance. They stood silently, just looking at one another, examining the familiar stance and openings of their opponent. In the blink of an eye, Naruto hurled a shuriken at Lee?s torso and disappeared into the thick forest brush. Lee dodged the oncoming weapon and stood still for a moment, just listening to the sounds of the nocturne forest. Once Lee?s back was turned to him, he leapt in a magnificent arc, hurling shuriken. Upon landing, he created three shadow clones, two of which pursued the already moving target. Rock Lee was extremely fast, even without opening any of his Lifegates, and reacted immediately to the shuriken assault. The shadow clones maneuvered evasively, giving and receiving punches while Naruto and the other shadow clone threw shuriken and cloned them to both preserve weaponry and confuse Lee. During the hand to hand combat, the Naruto had moved to a completely different position where the tactical advantage would be his due to the surprise.

What OtakuBoards members would you like to meet?
Retribution replied to Boo's topic in General Discussion
Oh boy, fun times. White: What can I say? He's my friendly-but-backwards neighbor (translation: Canadian) and he's a great guy to boot. We've had many a conversation, and the vast majority have been hilariously enjoyable. The other percent consisted of me making fun of Canada... good times, I know. If we were to meet, I could see us just hanging out and cracking jokes nonstop. The Boss: I might be mistaken, but he was my first OB friend, and he first started talking through the Battlegrounds (God rest its soul *sign of the cross*). Anyway, he's a great guy and we share many interests, so we'd find plenty to do... mostly videogames and talking I'm assuming. Ezekiel: She's pretty much awesome and English to boot. Has there been a better combination? I think not. In any event, we'd probably end up talking/doing something artistic which is always fun. DW: C'mon, everyone loves a narcissistic womanizer, right? But seriously, he's a funny guy and seems like he'd always bring a party with him where ever he went. It sure seems like it when I talk to him on AIM, anyway. Dagger: While we probably wouldn't have a ball if we hung out, she lives half an hour away from me. We've also talked (seldomly, but still) on AIM. Besides, I bet Dagger's a real party animal in real life. Seriously. Sakura: We talked alot earlier this year, and she struck me as an amazingly awesome person. She's a very talented RPer, and I think meeting her would definitely be fun. Shy: He's plain awesome, and if we were to meet, our awesome levels would cause WWIII. We've talked on AIM quite a bit during the start of The Legionnaires, and he's a very approachable-yet-reserved type. Again, I bet he's a serious party animal in real life. Desbrekster: Well, he beat me in MKDS and for that he must pay dearly (I really have improved though, Des. Watch out...). He's a mediocre boss to me, but that's beside the point. A boss who plays you in MKDS is a cool one indeed. We all know how you're supposed to lose to your boss, though... Sorry if I forgot anyone. :[ EDIT: Aizen: Yeah, definitely one of my older friends on OB. We haven't talked for several months, but we have great conversations when we do chat. Besides, who wouldn't want to meet the Supreme Ruler of the Universe? If anyone wants me to add them to my list, keep giving me death threats. -
OOC: Pardon the pitiful post.Getting dressed into an extremely expensive tuxedo granted him temporary respite from the overwhelming fear and grief that threatened to overthrow his mind. He stood in front of the full-body mirror and scrutinized his outfit before touching the button. He waited before the door in complete silence. His insecurities flooded back into his consciousness. Where julia sarah dead am i lost england france? ridiculous paris 2 gestapo nonsense bad 1984 dream joke third reich ?. ?Sir, please exit your room and?? he drowned out the rest of the message as he struggled to maintain rationality. The door slid open and he walked through it slowly, quietly. His body moved automatically, completely independent of his brain?s commands to stop, to assume the fetal position and scream. His brain did not register any sensory input; no sounds, no amazing sights, no delicious smells coming from the ballroom. His world was completely black and he continued his march. Upon his arrival to the ballroom, he was greeted by several warm faces. He raised his eyes from the floor just enough to snatch brief glances of them, then returned to his sleepwalk. ?Pardon my poor manners, I?m just feeling rather down at the moment,? he said while walking away from them. He did not attempt so much as to put up a façade of happiness. Rather, he let his despair show on his face as he collapsed into the nearest chair. ?Waiter,? he called pitifully, ?could you spare me a scotch on the rocks? I need a drink.?
I advise doing gesture drawings (about fifty a day), and about four contour drawings a day (slow, outline drawings that you do by looking not at the paper, but at the object). These really help a lot. Also, draw real people and still-lifes, and study human anatomy.[/COLOR']
Well, you didn't explain gesture drawings to those who haven't taken any formal art classes. A gesture drawing is a quick sketching of something to express motion, action, or a pose. They're basically studies of an object you do before entering into the actual drawing so that you have a feel for how the subject is shaped. I was also under the assumption that contour drawings were slow drawings that you do looking at something (and never looking at your paper) with great detail (the wrinkles on your hand) where the definition of the shape is not important. You could do a contour drawing of your hand, for instance, but it should NOT look like a hand when you're done, rather an arrangement of random lines. Sorry if I cluttered up the topic with my post, I was just looking to clarify some of the terms you tossed out there as if they were common knowledge.

Art Otaku Drawaca 2006 [DRAWING CONTEST]
Retribution replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Aww... I would enter... But GENDER DISCLOSED. =3
I'm sure that a bit of censoring would make it OB-safe, unless we're talking about something seriously graphic. -
Honestly, Vegetrunks, you're amazing. I joined a forum called Tagmonkey where everyone made tags of similar nature and quality, and truth be told, I was flamed due to my lacking skills. I also asked them how they made these tags and the only response was "Cinema 4d, brushing in Photoshop". Needless to say, it wasn't helpful at all. I tried using Cinema 4d, but it ended up being far too complicated for me, and the brushing techniques just completely escape me. I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd really love to see a tutorial from you on this. Of course, no one's perfect, but your pieces demonstrate a greater degree of control over whatever programs you use. Just a bit of critique, the text on the bottom one is lacking... the words aren't really united if you understand what I'm trying to say.

Boo was right on the money, and it sounds like you're following his advice which is a good idea. I'm going to close this thread, because 1) it is now void as there will be no spriting "group" and 2) further suggestions can be given via PM/Messenger programs or within your new thread. Thread closed.

Please be more specific about what you'd like to see on your banner. Reading the Art by Request Rules might help you in doing that. Including information such as desired dimension, colors, or text you'd like would great improve the chances that an artist helps you out on this.
Ooo! That gives me an idea. Working side by side, right? Instead of having Moderator of _______, you could also have the very few members with the title "MAMA Member." Of course, you'd have to change your acronym. But I think that would be neat. It would give the oldies the recognition they deserve, and it would also give them a chance to better OB.
Right, so we can have another exclusive group. That'll solve the problem. :p Really, what would be the point? It would essentially be reviving the "Otaku" member title of the olden days. It's also what the custom titles are for. And would these "MAMA Members" have the power of a moderator if it would "give them a chance to better OB"? If so, what's the difference between a MAMA Member and a moderator? It just opens up an entirely new can of worms. In addition, you don't need to have 'special powers' to contribute to OB. Start a great RPG. Write a great story. Create a new concept that we might all use (Banner/Avatar Orphanage, Awarded Titles, etc). Furthermore, I thought the point of MAMA was not to have moderator powers, but to better OB. If you give a MAMA member moderator powers, they've just completely nulled their entire philosophy up until this point. It was a good idea, and sorry if I was harsh in critiquing it. I'm just getting a bit weary of this entire members against moderators and administrators business. It was ridiculous to start with.
hmm.... i like it! i think there is too much left over space, though
darkisMINE, I recommend that you read the Art Studio Rules as well as the Official OtakuBoards Rules so that you understand what is expected of you as far as post quality goes. Basically, you should leave a useful comment to the artist, and in reality, you were halfway there. You did in fact leave a helpful comment, but if you could expand upon what you said, it'd help the artist out even more. Instead of "there is too much left over space," try "There's too much space left over in the upper halves of all the cells," so that the artist knows exactly what to fix. Thanks for your patience.

darkisMINE, this thread is nearly three years old. It's customary to not post in threads that have fallen off the first two or so pages. As a result, this thread will be closed.
MAMA better known as Members Against Moderators and Administrators was group founded on a simple ideal: Make OB a better place for all it's members[/SIZE'], new and old by creating a place where we could gather evidence that could not be ignored against staff members we felt were not doing their jobs properly. This was not a case of Oldies rebelling against a system that we felt favoured n00bs and left older members out in the cold, it was a case of those of those of us who genuinely care about OB wanting to repay the forums for years of entertainment and friendship.
Wow. What a contradictory sentence. You want to make OB better by going against the moderators and administrators. From what I can gather, MAMA makes zero sense if that's your goal... why not work in conjunction with the moderators and administrators to better OB? Clashing doesn't make progress, it's only detrimental to the environment. As previously stated, your acronym is extremely misleading. I suppose I don't understand why the formation of this group was necessary in the first place. Why not bring this up as soon as you felt that the Administration was not executing their duties to the fullest? What's the point of creating this secret society where you all seethe together in late-night chatrooms, but never get your grievances addressed?
-
It's been a couple days, so you might want to consider giving some vague dimensions. I speak from experience in that artists do enjoy a degree of direction -- when you say "Not too big, but not too small," they really have zero idea where you're coming from. Perhaps tossing out the maximum acceptable dimensions and allowing anything that falls within those numbers?
