I smoke weed, but in moderation. I'm not a junky, and I don't rely on the drug at all, simply because I know when to stop, for I wouldn't want it to get to that stage... not that I'd let it. I think I'm going to try coke, and probably ecstasy, but only on an experimental basis. I know they're class-A drugs and considered as a potential threat, but eh, I'm on a quest for the ultimate buzz. So yeah. \m/^^\m/
Yes, you know when to stop and all that, and I'm sure you've heard this all before, but... Ecstasy can kill you on your first try, and cocaine is some seriously addictive crap. Drugs, especially marijuana, hinder your brain's development (see Drix's post), which is even worse during your teenage years. Your brain is going through a critical stage in its growth, and by doing marijuana, you are permanently affecting your brain's development. You'll be able to feel your mind move slowly when you grow up, and you'll know why. I don't mean to sound like a square, but straighten up.

Everyone knows that the true blue United States of America is going to come out on top with the most gold medals this year. Bow down to our superior skillz!1 But really, I'm hoping we don't suffer a shameful defeat in hockey or snowboarding -- those are the two best Winter Olympic sports, so losing those would really suck. So every other nation should basically lay down and die or something, 'cause America's gonna win. [cue America F**k Yeah]

?Bring it on, Keiji. I can take you!? Hart boasted to his comrade. Keiji returned his smirk confidently. ?Oh yeah? If only Naruto were here to see me kick your ass,? Keiji said. Naruto was out training with Meiko and instructed the duo to spar until they returned. He also said he had an important announcement once he got back. Behind the façade of apathy, both Hart and Keiji sorely wanted to know what he was. Secretly, they both assumed it was the Genin exams and if they were fit to take it. The two kept walking down the path until they got to a pond with several large stones jutting out of the pool and odd angles. Keiji assumed his position on one of the rocks, while Hart did the same on the opposing end of the pond. ?So, do you wanna play whoever falls in loses, or what?? ?Sure, why not,? Hart replied, ?As long as I get to kick your ass!? Hart and Keiji?s rivalry was a strong one, but with it carried an even deeper unspoken bond. They both trained their hardest so that the other would improve. They had become brothers in the deepest sense of the word, unafraid to deal out tough love or brag about their latest victory. But after it was all said and done, they?d pick each other up and walk home friends. ?Bring it on.? Keiji took out two scrolls, holding one in each hand as he jumped from rock to rock. His elusive opponent flipped and dodged Keiji?s movements, and for a time both moved solely to gain an advantageous position. The physical chess match continued before Hart threw barrages of shuriken at the oncoming Keiji. Taking evasive maneuvers, he rolled on the rock, letting the knives pass over him, then leapt over the next ones, landing on the same rock as his foe. He landed with his arms crossed and his mouth spouting fire in Hart?s face. For an instant, he thought he had actually incinerated him, but saw a substituted log in his position. A square kick caught him in the back, sending him flying. With the agility of a cat, Keiji landed on his hands and flipped back onto his feet several rocks away. Wasting no time, he gestured once more, and made the water shoot high-pressured jets of water at Hart. The first one caught him off guard, knocking him sideways ? just enough off balance to be knocked over by the oncoming hurricane created by Keiji.OOC: Tag, White.

I haven't watched the Olympics since Nagano... that was a while ago too. '98, right? The only thing I have heard about and care for is that Michelle Kwan has dropped out due to a strained groin. I feel extremely sad for her -- it's terrible that she had to drop out, as this was the last Olympics she would [plausibly] compete in. She had never won a Gold medal -- only a Silver and Bronze, and so this year, her final year, she was hoping for Gold. Instead, she decided she "respects the Olympic games too much to compete [in her current condition]."
The "seams" connecting the last two images look very forced but other than that it's looking good
Very good point, Hitto. Firstly, try to throw the next artist a bone -- don't make some super-complicated gradient and typography pattern to fight with. Rather, do something nice and easy like White and Ezekiel did -- they didn't leave any super-hard loose ends to be tied off, but they didn't make it boring either. Secondly, don't force the transition too hard. If you're stumped, use the smear tool to ease the pain, but don't make this too evident. It's going to be a vicious cycle if everyone keeps screwing one another over. However, don't let this warning lead to boring pieces. Just be inventive.
Survival of the fittest I say; enjoy your[/i'] life. :D
I'm basically with you, except that for some drugs, the consequences don't only hurt your life. It can really take a toll on loved ones if they find out, it could lead to a car accident where someone dies, or any other slew of bad scenarios. Point is, drugs don't only affect the user. But your point is a good one.
9)Rock the Casbah--Solar Twins Just because this song is cooool on so many levels. Got it in the same FST as Thief. It's got such amazingly cool lyrics.
Oh. My. God. That song is amazing. 1. Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner - Fall Out Boy I like this song on the whole, but it's not nearly as good as some other Fall Out Boy songs. I especially love the chorus and hate the intro. 2. Porcelian - The Red Hot Chili Peppers What can I say? It's got that nice, slow song vibe going on, but I'm usually too impacient to sit through the entire song. Sorry, Chili Peppers -- it sounds nice, but boring. 3. Don't Phunk With My Heart - Black Eyed Peas I love this song. End of story. I first heard it over the summer at work, and fell in love with it. Worship the chorus. 4. Enth E Nd (Kutmasta Kurt ft. Motion Man) - Linkin Park It's a mediocre song that you have to be in the mood to listen to. This song is left over from the 13-year-old obsession with Linkin Park, but I still listen to the Reanimation CD here and there. 5. London - Third Eye Blind I love this song a whole lot, especially the verses. The message isn't all that strong, but the beat is great, and the best part of the song is when he keeps singing "I don't wanna go to London -- told you I don't care! I don't wanna go to London!" Except I really do wanna go to London. 6. We Still Kill The Old Way - Lostprophets Meh. I prefer the rest of the CD -- this one's intro is a bit too heavy for me. It's like wanna be metal. But once the words start, it's not half bad. 7. No Brakes - The Bravery I really enjoy this song -- it's got a nice Rock 'n Roll + Techno feel to it that I think The Bravery pulled off well. I think they went under after their initial hype in June, though. Sad. 8. American Idiot - Green Day Gotta love any song completely smashing the Republicans. Hooray! This is actually one of their weaker songs on the CD, though. I think it was only on the Radio to enrage people. 9. Uptown Girl - Billy Joel Now seriously -- you are sick in the MIND if you can't appreciate the ... the ... utter genius of Billy Joel's songcraft. There's a reason the song has lasted thirty-some years. 10. Emergency Exit - Beck Meh. He's alright. I heard he was superkickassuberawesome, so maybe the hype ruined it for me. He's like Radiohead with a tad country and more guitars. Baaaad idea.

I voted for AIM, solely because I use it more than Yahoo Instant Messenger or MSN Messenger combined. I have all three so that I can chat with friends who solely have YIM (poor souls), MSN, or AIM. Last year, I got tired of having my MSN and AIM buddy lists open at once, so I decided to go Trillian. I haven't been disappointed yet -- especially with the Pro version.
I wish there were a bare-bones version I could stick with.
Yeah, AIM has been pretty anal about their updates, but if you don't want all that fancy jazz they keep making you download, you could probably find an older version of AIM to download.

White, your avatars got me into the avatar-making frenzy, so here's another batch. Please note that the two graffiti avatars are fuzzy intentionally -- you are seeing a very slight outer glow. Just a heads up so that someone doesn't think it's shoddy quality. I think there are two huge dangers with subs. First is the font it's in. I read two hours worth of thin, one pixel outline, scrawled, cramped text. It was a nightmare, and it really ruined the movie for me -- shame, because it was supposed to be at least decent. The second is the accuracy of the translation. Obviously, if it's fan-made, there's a higher 'risk' to the translation being off, and I've missed many, many jokes in anime due to poor subbing. Often times it's when the sign of a building isn't translated to english characters, and people laugh at the sign. The only real solution to the whole subbing thing is to just get an official sub, which pretty much ensures quality.
-
Sometimes I really can't understand why people don't like dubs -- they're usually pretty well done, so long as you don't get some shoddy fan-done version of one. It's a whole lot easier just listening than reading, as lazy as that sounds. However, there are instances where a sub is leagues better. For instance, I was recently watching some anime about the Greek Gods, and it was subbed, and it was bearable. I later watched the dubbed, and I couldn't deal with it. The voices were out of sync and didn't really match up with the character either. The only requirements I have for subs is for them to be accurate and legible.

My favorite book by far is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It's really old -- I can't recall if it's fourty of sixty years old, but it's somewhere in that range. It's about cloning humans in a 1984-esque environment. I personally enjoyed this book more than 1984, and I think it deserves more recognition than it currently recieves. It's definitely a must-read for any Sci-Fi fan.
-
I think you might need to turn Anti-Aliasing off or on, depending on what you have it on currently. It also might be your font, if you're using a font -- try turning the mode to something like "Strong" or "Smooth". But basically, I don't think it's the .gif's fault.
Jeez, nobody likes a whiney baby. I mean seriously. We're fresh level Genin, what else did you expect? D-Rank missions aren't grand and if you'd just have fun with it like everyone else, there'd be no problem.
I came off strong, but my point still stands. I know I didn't expect to be doing earth-shattering things, but I didn't think we'd actually be carrying out the menial D-Rank missions. I was guessing more along the lines of our Jounin training us. Sorry if I offended/annoyed you Jay and JJ, but every RPG I enjoy dies because of slow starts, and this one is too good to let die.
If your going to put references in, please use the correct ones.
I wasn't referencing Naruto's first mission, but rather referencing the fact that I don't expect to undertake a profoundly difficult mission when I haven't had much training (much like Naruto).
-
For the love of all things holy in the world -- PLEASE end this mission immediately. I understand we're not supposed to be fighting Zabuza or anything right now, but this is mind-numbingly boring, and not what I signed up for to say the least. I also understand that things will get interesting very soon, but my interest is waning in watching a dog. So really, if you could make us conclude the missions, that'd be awesome.

My luck is absolutely horrid. Especially with women.

Er, let it go is all the advice I can really offer you. I like the transfer student from Tajikistan. Tajikistan. She's gone in a few months, and I still haven't gotten to know her all that well. I'm pretty much going to let it go after this year -- it'll be hard, especially since it feels a little more like love, rather than lust or infatuation. Really, you can't find someone on a first name and a look unless you work for the CIA. I'd advise taking the hurt and eventually getting over her. -
It's just how the brain works. If you keep hearing something you will consciously and subconsciously absorb the message. You might not agree with the message, but it's in your mind nonetheless, and sometimes you notice the message being engrained in your mind. So when you draw and you're annoyed, that's just your subconscious (or conscious, depending) manifesting itself.

Well, aside from you mispelling "color," I'd say it's great (please know I'm kidding). At first glance, I'll be honest -- It's pretty boring. There's no real element your eyes gravitate towards, so they wander around. However, after a time, my eyes realized the two sides of "green," suppose. One side, being green is the color of greed, but the other is that it's the color of nature, which I thought was a pretty nice and subtle touch. I also liked "green" being cut off -- it's a nice little touch there. Oh, and your image is pixelated. Crank up the image saving quality, silly rabbit.

Look, if you're confused about guys, don't even get me started on girls... You don't know the half -- hell, you don't know the third. Good-looking guys can be choosy because, well, they have a wider ranger of woman that would consider going out with them. Nerdy guys, on the otherhand, would usually settle for less than a really popular guy. It's logical, really. I suppose the man's just playing the field, but he sounds like he's being a jerk about it too. Heh.

I think the "thread killing" is one of three things: 1) It was a relatively old topic anyway, so people were tired of it, 2) You said what needed to be said, so no one else replied, or 3) The whole topic seemed like a waste of time to someone else. But, in the spirit of your thread, I'll try to recall the last thread I violently murdered. I think it was REVELATION'S "FEMME FATALE" [shameless plug] in the OB Anthology. Seriously, I love the story, and I hope she keeps writing, as it seems like I'm the only one who enjoys it.
Today's society SUCKS, have you not noticed that?
Riiiight. No, I haven't really noticed all that much.
How come I can ALREADY get FINED for saying something to someone? HUH? That's right. Because it's nto really "free" anyways. We already have limited speech. We should just drop the name of "free" speech and change it to "limited" speech, really. It's almost gotten to the point of what I'm saying we should do. In about 100 years, what I'm say9ing will be in effect because people can't take being offended because they whine too much about "boo hoo, you called me a whore! I'm going to sue you! whether or not it's true, I'm still offended! Officer! Officer! Fine this person for saying mean things to me!" Yeah, I've almost been fined. So I should know.
I said in another thread, I believe, that your right to Freedom of Speech ends where someone else's nose beings. Your right to Freedom of Speech cannot hinder another citizen's of life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness. Slander is against the law, I believe. I mean, a [credible] newspaper (e.g. The Washington Post) can't go out and say "BUsh did crackwtflolkthxbai!11" because it really, really damages his credibility. Yeah, we have limited speech, but it's not as severly limited as you make it out to be. Think about it -- if the freedom of speech was an unjust law, wouldn't more people be voicing the same opinions as you? It's a commonly accepted fact that our Freedom of Speech is a-okay -- by both Democrats and Republicans. I think you might be being a little brash about the whole thing. America's not 1984, no matter how much you make it out to be (yes, even with the PATRIOT Act!).

Drugs are bad, mmmkay? But seriously, I don't recommend doing them. Most are extremely addictive, and it's hell trying to get off even cigarettes. You're addicted to something that makes you artificially happy, and after the initial high, you're let down. You know those people on the street on the corner just milling around in the Ghetto? Those people are addicted to drugs, and are waiting for their next fix (I assume it's crack). Don't end up like them. Just listen to your teachers or whoever teaches you about drugs, and don't do them.

?It says to play catch,? Naruto said as he re-examined the crumpled scrap of paper. ?Finally, something that?s not completely lame,? he added. Keiji and Hart both smiled, knowing they would finally get to do something right on the mission. ?I?ll take care of it,? Meiko said confidently. ?Besides, you two are drenched.? ?That?s alright ? Hart and I can suck it up and play catch,? Keiji countered. They silently battled before Meiko conceded defeat. ?Fine, fine. I?ll work on the next thing on the list,? he said as she walked into the kitchen. Hart picked up the ball that Poochie played with and walked outside with it. They exited into the backyard, where Hart threw the ball up high in the air. When the toy returned to the ground, Poochie jumped in the air, effectively clasping the rubber ball between his jaws. ?C?mon, boy, give me the ball,? Keiji asked as he forcefully removed the ball from the dog?s mouth. This time he threw it in a wide arc across the yard, and the dog took off in full sprint for it. With a smirk, he whipped out a scroll and used one of his Wind jutsu, which blew the ball around in the air. The dog looked utterly baffled for a few moments before barking at the supernatural sight. ?Ah, you think you?re hot stuff, Miyamoto?? Hart remarked before tossing a hail of shuriken at the rubber toy. Keiji concentrated his efforts, effectively saving the ball from impalement. ?No sweat,? Keiji boasted back. The two chuckled, and Keiji let the ball drop down to the expectant canine on the ground. ?You idiots!? Keiji?s heart jumped into his throat as he heard his sensei?s yelling voice directly behind Hart and him. They both fell down face-first onto the ground in utter surprise, before hopping back up. ?What would?ve happened if you sliced up the ball? Drop and give me fifty, each of you.? ?But I sa?,? Keiji tried to defend himself before being cut off. ?I don?t wanna hear it. Back-talking Genin get fifty more push-ups, and this time, no chakra tricks!? How did he know?! Keiji thought in surprise. Begrudgingly, the duo dropped to the ground and did push-ups for what seemed like an eternity. The situation became increasingly awkward when Meiko wandered outside and inquired why they were doing push-ups. ?Because they?re dumbasses,? Naruto answered simply with a huge grin on his face.
Uhm...does that mean that I'm a bad daughter? I don't see him as any of those things except reading bedtime stories...He's just been kinda there, criticized the hell out of me, when I would fall and get cuts and scrapes he'd just call me a big baby and tell me to stop crying, he told me to get up and wouldn't pick me up when I fell ( in both phys. and emo. ways), has never really "protected" me, and I've never felt particularly loved by him. He really is just some guy with good stuff and bad stuff about him who puts a roof over my head, gives me food, only gives me clothes when my mom nags him, and hardly likes to spend any money on me, except for things that are stupid. Anyways, I think that this is a horrible evaluation of any form of humanity. *shakes head*
Nope, it doesn't make you a bad daughter. I meant that a daughter should remember her father that way, assuming her father acted as a father should. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like in your case, your father hasn't and isn't doing all the things he should for you, or maybe it's just a skewed view of the world coming from you -- I really have no idea.
