1. I can't say I love hospitals - they're not a fun place to hang out or anything, but I really respect what happens in there. I heavily appreciate modern medicine, how many lives are saved there. It gives me a twinge of sadness when I think of the lives that pass away into the abyss in there, and I highly respect doctors, surgeons in particular.
2.
Here?s my next question. Do you believe aliens have visited the Earth? I know this is an old and worn out question, but I often wonder if all the hype among people who are convinced that we have been visited is just that, hype. I have yet to read or see anything that would convince me that aliens have ever visited here.
I don't think that aliens have visited Earth. We're some back-woods, under developed, primitive, savage planet. The only reason I'd see to come here, from an alien's perspective, would be to get a few slaves, which I'm sure is against their hyper-advanced code of morals. :p Next question: Should we [the world in general] invest time and effort to explore space, or should we focus on events back home? Is there anything to be gained in space?
3.
What the hell? I was just saying it was interesting that Hollywood often casts black Presidents when there has never been one. Settle down o_O
You didn't say it was 'interesting' that Hollywood often casts black Presidents, you said that you thought they had an agenda, which I interpreted to mean they had ulterior motives. I mean, the word 'agenda,' to me, has negative connotations. When you say 'That judge has an agenda,' it's not a positive, or even a neutral thing.

5.
Has anyone else noted that almost all movies featuring a President have a black[/i'] one though? I think Hollywood has an agenda...
Heaven forbid that after decades of white-only Presidents in Hollywood, they finally get a few Black guys! What a horrid agenda! I'm glad that they have shows with Black Presidents, but I seriously doubt that America would elect one in the next election. I know Obama is thinking about running, and I think he'd have a better chance than Hillary, but again, America just doesn't seem open-minded enough to let a minority in the seat of power. Now... if only the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions seceeded... *ponders*
6. You're right - as long as you're not something like a rock, you're technically alive. However, I don't consider a red blood cell which is alive, worthy of human rights. I wouldn't consider the zygote (the correct word, I hope) a human until it gains self-awareness. Until then, despite the possibilities, you're just a collection of cells to me.
7. Here we go... I hope I succeeded in my quest. 8. His eyes were dead-set upon the first dragon in his way, his cold, brooding eyes surveying the magnificent demon, searching for a weak point in the beast. Aries tightened his grip on his lance, clenched his teeth, his body surging with hate and rage, begging to be released relentlessly upon it. His mind commanded it, and his body readily obliged. He sprinted with newfound speed towards his opponent, and threw the lance at the dragon?s neck. The missile landed heavily, impaling the demon through its jugular. Aries pulled out the lance and bounded over the felled monster in stride, lashing out at the next moving object before even landing. He was a torrent of fury, dealing death quickly and mercilessly, impaling, decapitating, and charring those that challenged his might. The body raged on, the adrenaline pumping through his veins, augmenting his berserk blitzkrieg. None were left alive so long as they stood within thirty feet of the warrior. Soon he could slake his bloodlust only by firing comets of fire upon the demons, the meteors of fire violently ripping part their frames as they disintegrated in a flash of agonized screams and searing heat. A few talons scratched his godly armor ? a few blows drew blood. He dispatched them to the underworld, bathing in their blood. He did not feel them. His body quaked, roaring for more slaughter, for more blood, for more death. Aries raised the lance once more, channeling his fire through it, and dispelled the demonic darkness from whence it came. He felt as if he were a mighty messenger sent from the heavens, a fiery seraph smiting those who opposed the clean and beloved. His arms became hammers. His legs became that of horses. His eyes were of the sun, and his soul was of hell.
9. What grade/level/year are you in? It's somewhat hard to recommend you a book if it's way off your readng list. But in case you're somewhere around my reading level, here are a few of my favorites. A Clockwork Orange Brave New World 1984 Ender's Game The Things They Carried I think the first three books are considered "worthy" by any teacher, as they're at least 40 years old (all of them) and yet still taught in high school English classes. As for Ender's Game, it got several Science Fiction book awards (the Nebula being one, I believe), and The Things They Carried got a pat on the back by the New York Times.
10. Yeah, I was on another forum and we spoofed O Rly? with a bunch of posts similar to yours, Des. Good times... As for furthering this thread, shall we post our own spoofs? I'm guessing we should do that rather than try to critique this, as the picture really is a comedic piece.
11. I'm glad you acknowledged the fact that these were too small. Could possibly provide a larger version of them? It'd be helpful in my critique. From what I can see of the top picture, I'd say you did an amazing job. The proportions are realistic, the shading is very well-done, and the outline the character has is a nice touch. Did you also create that pose yourself? If so, you've got amazing talent. If not, you're still really good... and maybe you should try posing the character yourself! Keep up the drawing!

13.
Even if Tarrantino did direct this, how would it be a "perversion" of his great directing? Give me a break lol. You're talking about a director who made a film where dozens of people get body parts chopped off. In addition, I have to wonder how much you may know about this film to compare it to "Saw", if you don't even know what a hostel is (which is basically described in EVERY preview/review of this title in varying ways)... Saw essentially was a poor man's version of Seven. Get some good reasons :p Horror movies can be just as well composed as anything else and Tarrantino is smart enough to know that. In any case, as mentioned, Eli Roth is directing this and Tarrantino is just a producer of some sort... like with those kung-fu movies years back. Eli Roth also did Cabin Fever, which was made with only a 1.5 million dollar budget and subsequently became the most profitable horror title of that year. When I saw it, most of the theater seemed turned off by the fact that it had a sense of humor, but I personally feel that's integral to an entertaining horror film... If that movie didn't have a sense of comedy to it, I think portions of it would have been overly brutal. As it stands, it wiped the floor with horror movies that year that cost 10 to 20 times as much to make. As such, I'm really looking forward to this. As far as I'm concerned, Eli Roth is in a very strong position to become the next great horror director up there with Romero or Raimi.
The plot was weak. The violence was disturbing. My friend left
during the slashing of the achilles tendon, and his heels came off.
He stumbled out of the theater mumbling "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god." He stared at a wall for about ten minutes, and looked absolutely shell-shocked. The fact that I don't know what a hostel is doesn't mean I can't be critical towards it. The word "hostle" was rather insignificant to the movie as a whole.
It was a bunch of mental people torturing victims in a room.
The movie is trash -- it's a pointless torture-fest.
14. I think it was rather innovative (or perhaps I've just never seen it done before) that you had "Uzumaki Naruto" above the banner, hanging in space. I think that's my favorite part of this banner. On the whole, the typography is fine, although I don't think the Kingspike font works all that well here, but it doesn't really need changing. Naruto is just as well, although his facial details are somewhat blurry or nondescript when compared to his hair. Finally, and most important, I think, is the background. It being abstract is all well and good, but to me, it feels like it has no purpose, and you'd be better off just taking it away. The entire thing is undynamic, and the color doesn't really suit Naruto all that well. And it's great to see you back.
15. You can post an image by uploading it to an image host such as Photobucket or ImageShack. Once that is done, take the URL they give to you, and paste it into the reply area here on OB. Then, make sure that you have the following: . It should post if you followed these steps. I hope that helped.
16.
What if humans had never been smart enough to wear other materials to keep us from the cold? We'd all be nude. And we wouldn't find it one bit degrading.
We would all be living at the equator had clothes not been invented. We also lost our fur because of evolution ... I'm guessing because we didn't need it for some reason or another. I'll take the clothes and the degrading nudity with it. But I agree with you ... women are more beautiful than men overall.
17. This movie looks ... downright sick. I think it's a perversion of Tarantino's great directing, that he's using it for a brutal gorefest. I decided I wasn't going to see this when I saw
the toe with the wrench, and then the drill. That sort of mutilation isn't even entertainment or art -- that's sick.
At least 'Saw' had the contemplative thriller (not quite the right word) element to it. And may I ask, what exactly is a "Hostel"?
18. 1) Dagger She's a great Administrator -- she's worked very hard to become one, and she set the OtakuBoards Graphics Tournament into motion, when everyone else decided to bail on the idea. I find her to be extremely approachable, trustworthy, and true to her word. I thank her for sticking with the OBGT, even when things began to look unsure, and I thank her for devoting time and effort to OtakuBoards. Thank you. 2.) The 1st Annual OtakuBoards Graphics Tournament This was the first Official OtakuBoards-hosted Graphics Tournament. Throughout OB, many members joined in the fun, showcasing their skills in a competitive environment. I really enjoyed watching all sorts of members duke it out in a site-wide tournament. In its early stages of development, it looked as if it were going to fall through, when Dagger decided to help the cause and host it herself. I'm willing to venture this was one of the high-points of the Art Studio this year. I look forward to many more OBGTs in the future. 3.) Banner/Avatar Orphanage I think that the addition of the Orphanage has made getting a cool banner even easier, with so many pre-made banners at the requestee?s disposal. Augmenting the Art by Request sub-forum, The Banner/Avatar Orphanage put all those unused banners gathering dust in the backwater folders of your C: Drive to use for other members. I?d say this addition to the Art by Request was successful, as it, in less than half a year?s time, has gotten more views than the Art by Request Rules thread (circa 2004). 4.) Neuvoxraiha Alot of other people have gotten awards for being a great RPer, and frankly, I think she's the best when it all comes down to it. Her vocabulary, her ability to be eloquent and still carry the plot, and her engaging language make her an unbelieveable partner in any Role Play. I had the honor to have her in Red Team, and she was an extremely valuable player in the team. She pulled together the writing when the rest of the team's was slipping, and I must commend her for that as well.
19. Hehe. The filename is steriods... sorry, I just got a kick out of it after looking at the picture. Anyway, the image is alright. I'm sure he wasn't really taking this seriously because he seeems to have drawn the picture in a blue felt pen, which artists don't (or shouldn't) use when they're serious about what they're drawing. There are minor issues here and there; the hands, the arm length, muscular structure, but overall, with a bit of touch-up, it's something I could certainly see in DBZ/GT. On the whole he did a fine job. I'm certain it doesn't suck -- he's better than a whole lot of people (myself included).
20. I'm not too keen on the faces you've created -- maybe it's just my preference towards anime faces when sketches. But on a positive note, the forms you've created are really top-notch. The proportion's pretty much right-on, and your lines feel very free, yet effective. It's the kind of messy I enjoy in art. I think it's also great that it looks like they were done in ink, with all the line variation. Keep it up, especially the sketch-work. PS: I dig the hair on the sketchy gals. Great work.
21. I was thinking about this thread a bit more, when I realized it was also talking about the right to carry concealed weapons. Why would you need to carry a concealed weapon? Seriously, people. If you want it for protection, would it not be more useful if you carried it on your hip, for all to see. It'd be a statement saying "Look! Look! Don't mess with me!" Rather, when you conceal it, people have no idea you have it, and as a result, act as if you don't have one. Meaning, you're just as likely to get robbed with a concealed weapon as you are without one. Really, where's the logic in this right-to-carry concealed weapons?
22. On the whole, I like it. The colors are rich and varied, there is obvious texture and feeling to it, and I just love the abstractness of it all. However, I think the white is quite overpowering, and overall just seems to be one huge focal point. Try to either tone down or disperse all that concentrated light -- it really throws off the composition (not quite the right word I was looking for) of it all. I'd personally just cut down on the white, rather than disperse it about the picture. I'm sure you're familiar with changing the colors of images in whatever graphics editing program you used to do this. As for a painter trying to be a graphic designer - I think that you look to be just a painter. There's not really any of the elements that would strike me as being graphic design, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
23. Despite the fact that your post does not contain an image (or a link, that I'm aware of), I think it's fine if you played around with a screenshot. If you did the editing and manipulation of official art, I see no problem with that. People will assume that you didn't make the characters, as they are widely known. I look forward to you posting your picture (or helping me find the link).
24. I finally got around to creating a few good avatars. I've been wanting to do this, after seeing the few mediocre Gundam Wing avatars there are. Since I'm submitting a few MSG avatars, why not just make a "Gundam" category instead of "Gundam Wing"? But I'll use the existing categories for now... 25. Advertisers use a woman's body because it is found naturally attractive by about half the population. These advertisements also heavily play to human nature -- the desire to procreate being one of them -- and so we naturally will pay more attention to a racy ad. I think there should certainly be a line not to be crossed as far as the media and its advertising goes, but I don't think modern media has hit that point. I really don't feel alarmed when I watch televion... but perhaps I'm just desensitised to it all. If you have something precious, why not share it? What good is a treasure if it's locked up? Granted, I don't really think people should be having orgies in the streets, but pornography (to me) seems acceptable most of the time.
