Extremely sickening. And whatever happened to acceptance? Everyone's talking about "homosexuals should be tolerated and understood, etc," when acceptance is what humans should have, not tolerance like some dog.
The reason they stay the religion they were raised once they can choose their own relegion? you answered it you self, they were raised that way. I'm not saying they don't choose to be the relegion they were raised, or that people raised one relegion never change to another. But what I am trying to say is that humans fear change, and if they were raised one way they tend to stay that way. Lets, for example, replace relegion with rascism, why is it that people who are raised as rascist stay rascist, and people who arn't raised as rascist are rarely rascist? (this is an example, and I know there are people who were raised rascist and now arn't and people who wern't and now are). But again this isn't ment to offend, just to explain my view of what BasouKazuma is saying.
You must've misquoted, as I never wrote that, nor do I share those views with Gavin.

I like one song by Evanescence. God I love Going Under... but I have no idea. I think it's the airy-sounding chorus. In any event, I will give them props for being popular -- it means you have something the masses want. I'm not really a big fan of them, but I will definetly hand them their due props.

Update. While I was at odds with doing this, I decided I will conclude my battle with Sean, and make it official. The Retribution v. Sean Battle ended last night at midnight. I won, with the votes at 6 - 1. Very good show to you Sean -- I appreciated your work. I have amended out Battle Records (see the first post for more information) to encompass this battle. And Dragon Warrior has joined the Graphics Club as well. Please welcome him warmly with a nice challenge to battle. I'm sure he'd appreciate that.
Retribution, I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on the matter of some suicides being inevitable. Sometimes things REALLY are quite simply hopeless. Even seeking therapy people are often times so lost that they cannot even see a good thing in front of them. I know because it happened to a friend's mother. She had repeatedly attempted suicide before, and failed, but that only made it worse. Eventually she took a .38 snub to the side of her skull, and to be quite honest, even though I think she was wrong in doing so, I also think she was a ticking timebomb waiting for the right push. I can honestly say that when I think back to it she really was on the edge and, frankly, it was a matter of time. So yes, we should help, even if it is impossible to bring someone back. It makes us who we are, and anything is possible if the right steps are taken. Don't let personal opinions or vices stand in your way of extending a hand to a person in need.
Chaos, you didn't quite understand what I meant. I know that some suicides are inevitable, and I never said otherwise. I was more stressing at the point that some people have been saved by intervention. Of course there will always be the tragic case of someone being hell-bent on killing themselves. But your closing remark confounds me. You said that anything is possible if the right steps are taken. Does that mean you contradicted your point in the previous paragraph?

OOC: Finally! I get to post in here. *grin*IC: Marcus slowly woke up as the airplane encountered turbulance, and looked down the aisle several rows. A woman. A man. Together, at least from what he could gather. He gazed longingly at their conversation, wondering in the back of his riddled brain what they were talking about, where they happy, and most of all, where were they headed? Relationships after the last one are kinda ... sour to me. Lucky guy, any how. I wonder what it's like to be in a relationship where it's not about ... physical? It burned in his brain for a while, but he shook it off eventually. Not good to be envious. But he couldn't really eradicate his complex emotions, or find the source of them. His mind screetched to a halt with the landing plane. He stood and loaded off with the rest of the passengers, but found it curious that the two he had noticed during the trip were headed towards his gate. The same baggage claim. Perhaps the same apartment complex? He tailed the group, and came up quickly, and asked them a question conversationally. "Where are you guys headed?"

Lovely characters, to everyone! So far everyone's in. I'm starting the RPG on wednesday night (8/3), so keep an eye open for it in the Arena. Sign-ups will close that day as well, so please try to get them in as soon as you can. The RPG will be operated in Chapter Format, so as to give me better control over where Shipwrecked is headed. Here's a heads up though -- we're going to arrive on the uncharted island without the life rafts. Guess how we're going to get there? ^_~ You guessed it. And without any provisions except the clothes on your back. Fun! Keep the sign-ups coming, everyone. I reserve the right to reject anyone's sign-up due to poor quality.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem, but it's definetly important and annoying. My computer (Windows 2000) restarts out of the blue. I can't really call it random, because when I use it for extended periods of time (2+ hours) it might cut out, but I've used it for much longer runs, and it's been fine. However, when I leave the computer alone (not using it at all), it rarely ever does this. Might this be because of a messed up heat-sync inside, or something of the sort? I've removed the dust from all the fans, and anything else blocking the way, but it still does it. I'm wondering if I have to defragment my computer now... or if that will do anything to solve this problem. It doesn't seem like it will. On a side note, I don't have ANY spyware/viruses on this computer.
You can't control/change one's conscience. I respect everyone's point of view. Though I may not agree with some, I would have to say, that I stand by a person when they say they want to kill themselves. Unless I know for certain I can change their mind. And I don't. Because I can't predict what the outcome would be. The first post, in this thread... Ceres, if I read correctly, you informed others, to try and help, right? The chick, called you, and thanked you- but she still ended up dead. Even after seeing for treatment? It's the inevitable, what ever happens, happens. And I think everything happens for a reason. And that reason is, because their opinion/option of wanting to die, did not change..? Did not change... because if it were to have changed... she'd still be alive... sorry if this is all sounding a little..."harsh." You can't really change a person, without changing the actual.. person. Which would be, the mind. So, let them do what they wanna do. Like I said, you can't control/change one's conscience. Get what I'm saying?[/size']
I'd like to start off saying that yes, you indeed can change one's conscience. Letting someone kill themselves is not the right thing to do... would you let your best friend drive home high on Mary Jane and drunk? I would hope not, and I would hope that you would look out for their well-being, and help them out. Suicide is the same thing. Your friend has impaired reasoning abilities, and is taking what seems to them at the time the most rational course of action. Once again, I hope that you would look ahead at their life, and make the call for them that they have too much potential to just squander it all now. If you do not look out for someone like that, I don't think you're actually their friend. It's not inevitable. Alot of people have been saved by friends, family, or psychiatric treatment. Whatever happens happens? I can't put into words how disgusting that is. Letting someone kill themselves, and just shrugging it off saying, "Heh. Well, whatever happens, happens, right?" is utterly vile. It's not sounding 'harsh' what you're saying, it's downright despicable that you're trying to dissuade people from stopping others suicides.

OOC: I'm very pleased with the sign-ups so far! I'm also happy that my first RPG is doing well. Thanks to everyone who's signed-up thus far. Name: Alexander Koyle Age: 27 Gender: Male Appearance: [link] The man on the left side of the image is my character. Alexander stands at 5?11?, and has a muscularly toned frame. After spending much of his time outdoors, Alex has gotten what seems to be a permanent tan. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and khaki shorts with cargo pockets, and a pair of Adidas Sambas when the ship sank. Personality: Alexander is a team-player, and seems to have the tendency of pulling everyone together, and calling them to action. It was only fitting that he be a senior associate at the law firm. Alex is very approachable, and tries to help everyone as best he can. Never does he shut someone's opinion out, and tries to listen to everyone, so he can make informed decisions later. He can usually be seen doing something productive and useful. In short, Alexander tries his best to rise above politics, and wants to get off the island with everyone alive. With hard work ethic and trying to bond firmly with everyone, he provides a comfortable hub for everyone to operate off of. Place in the Group: Alexander does not crave power, but always seems to get it. His magnetic personality and willingness to help others put him in a favorable position most of the time, and even his enemies are afraid of directly attacking Alexander. They know that mudslinging would only get them dirty, and that his 'followers' would defend him. Thusly, he makes an effective leader, and strives to do whatever he can to make things succeed. Special Skills: After spending much of his free time outdoors, he knows how land is shaped, how wildlife interacts with it, and has a keen eye. He has great perseverance, and can deal with physical discomfort. While he has never tried, he would probably make a good hunter, or a scout for the land. Record of Events: (I already typed this ? see my first post ^_~)

Shipwrecked ?All those who are with the Hill-Crowne Firm, please load onto the yacht waiting for you to my right,? The woman used a megaphone, directing the groups to their designated boats. A small group of no more than 30 people walked up the gangplank in casual clothes. It was a rarity that Hill-Crowne gave them a business trip, and as a result, the lawyers knew almost nothing of their co-worker?s personal lives. In a sense, they were complete strangers, vague acquaintances at best. This trip was organized to change that. It had started off well, with a golf game, followed by an outing to the beach, and various team-building activities. Next on the list of many luxurious, enjoyable events was a ten-hour yacht trip to one of Hawaii?s minor islands. ?Thank you for loading in an orderly manner. Now, Sherry will brief you on what to do in the case of an emergency,? the stewardess smiled fully, then walked under the deck to the on-board bar. Sherry stepped up to the soapbox. ?How?s everyone doing today?? She was answered with a scattered ?Good, thanks? or ?Fine.? She took it in stride, with her falsely energetic attitude. ?That?s great. Now, we have a weather advisory. It shouldn?t be a problem, and our captain will take us around any storms we may encounter, and to Molokai without any difficulty. In the event of an emergency?? Her voice slowly faded out of focus in Alexander?s mind, his thoughts on the bar and pool-table that he could enjoy during the terribly long trip. Eyeing the others, he saw that many had the same idea as him ? focusing on the free delicacies and lavish surroundings. He was used to those though, as was everyone there. They were members of a very prominent law firm, a handsomely paying place. A rich enough firm to rent the boat out for many hours to them. ?? Now that I?ve briefed you, please feel free to walk around the boat and do whatever you please. We have a sub-deck lounge featuring a pool table, bar, plasma television?? She was cut her off by many people standing up and shuffling below deck. Several people stayed on deck, leisurely walking around or looking over the edge of the boat into the crystal-clear waters. At peace they would remain, until 6 hours into their trip. A few stewardesses herded everyone below deck to inform them on their situation. ?It seems as if we are navigated towards a very serious storm,? the room broke into whispering, guesswork ? would they have to call coast guard? Were they past the point of no return? ?But,? she silenced them all again, ?Our captain is doing a terrific job of steering out of it. We expect to be in calm waters in two hours. Are there any questions?? A small, meek woman raised her hand, and was soon called upon. ?Exactly how dangerous are these waters we?re in?? ?They will not be a problem, as I stated before, but for your safety we request that you all remain here until further notic?? ?What do you mean ?not a problem?? Honesty is the best policy, right?? Someone cracked a joke. Something about lawyers have no room to talk about honesty, but received no recognition. ?I am being very honest with you, ma?am. We are in no danger, as far as the ship?s integrity or your well-being. You may go back to what you were doing. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!? She managed to smile even wider towards the end, and immediately walked out of the room into the staff quarters. The group dispersed once more, this time slowly, and an air of uneasiness settled over them. Alexander sat at the bar, finishing off his Cosmopolitan, then felt the boat dip slightly to the right. The glasses on the bar slid a few feet, spilling as they went. An audible gasp of surprise was heard, and several became nervous, running to the bathroom from a bout of sea sickness. I don?t think we?re as safe as they said we were?, he wondered to himself. A few minutes later, two crewmembers came bursting down below deck. Rain poured through the door for the few moments it was open, and a thunder crack was amplified. The closed the door with slight difficulty due to the wind, and in gasping breaths, alerted everyone. ?Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen!? The two wet sailors got the attention immediately, and one continued the talking. ?We ask that you not panic, and move to the life-jackets as soon as I finish talking. The ship is going to sink in what we guess to be about twenty minutes. The ship is taking water in a quarantined sector, but we?re not sure how long that will hold. Now, please move in an orderly fashion to the life jackets, then get into a life-boat. Four to a boat, please. Move right along.? As soon as the final word burst forth from his lips, everyone began an insane stampede towards the life jackets, then running out the door. Insane animals! God? I need a jacket and a boat? Alexander pushed into the crowd, seeing that the vests were going to run out shortly. He snatched up an orange vest, and put it on top of his t-shirt, and sprinted out to the deck. He pushed the door open after several others helped him shove it open. The wind had been bearing down upon it, but luckily they ran with the wind to get to the boats. Using an adrenaline rush spiked out of fear, he jumped in a life-boat with three people in it already. ?Start the sonuva ***** up, and let?s lower her in the water!? A man screamed at him over the howling wind. He would?ve shouted an affirmative back to him, but a blast of sea water filled his mouth violently. Alexander, following the man?s instruction, keyed the ignition as the other finally lowered the boat into the water. Then the fight for survival really started. Massive waves, ranging from 6 to 20 feet, threatened to throw them from the vessel. They hung onto the inflatable craft for dear life, and sped off in the same general direction as the rest of the boats. He risked a glance backwards, and saw the black yacht?s bow sliding under water, a few people screaming for a savior. They would die. They, along with most of his other co-workers would perish in the search for a landmass. Welcome to Shipwrecked! This is my first stab at an RPG, so be forgiving. This, of course, is about a group of people who manage to make it to an uncharted island alive, and their struggles with the environment and one another. Many twists lay ahead for those who survive the swim to land? so please, sign up! Thanks to Deucalion for helping me out with the concept and fine-tuning the ideas, as well has planning many twists. Sign-Up Form Name: Something English/American, please. Age: 25 ? 40 Gender: You know the drill Appearance: A picture with a brief description will suffice, but a picture is not mandatory, and the longer the better. Personality: A description of how this person usually acts. Place in the Group: A description of how your character will act in relation to the group stranded on the island. Will they be a hunter? Will they be power-hungry? Do they try to help others out? Tell me. Special Skills: Since we?re all lawyers on this trip, don?t try anything like ?expert in katanas? or that you?re ?an architect on the side.? Did you take emergency medical training in college? What?s something that you can contribute to the group? Record of Events: Here, write your character?s take on the beginning of the trip (prior to the sinking, or right up to it, where I left off). This will help me gauge your writing ability. That should be it ? if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

I like anime, because of its broad range to offer. As Dagger said, there's plenty to choose from, and I personally enjoy it being for all intents and purposes, cartoons for older people. Meaning the action, language, and events can be uncut. Plots can be very in-depth, and character development is there. They do things in anime that would cost millions to make into a movie, and it wouldn't be possible on 'regular' television with all the special effects.

Speaking of the JukeBox, the start and stop buttons aren't working (in firefox at least). Just thought I'd interject that here...
Nope, it's adult Naruto ^-^ I asked James that exact question last night, lol. Well, I asked if it were a FF character. But it is Naruto. Either way, both characters are hot.
That's... Naruto? My god... I thought it was a girl -- no kidding. Just ... wow. I'm awestruck right now.
I'm a complete and utter newbie to online gaming, so could someone please tell me what an MMORPG and a "clan" is?
An MMORPG is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. It means people can walk around inside a virtual world and see other users online doing the same. Very cool stuff. A clan is usually an organization within an MMORPG for protection and benefits. You have a clan to help you out in the game for leveling up, going on quests, getting items, and having a group of friends to hang with. Hoped that helped.

Looks like an Asteroids rip-off. *shrug* That's just judging from the screen shot. I guess I'll give it a try and see what I think of it. Hm. It gives me an error message "The system cannot find the file specified."

In a conversation with James last night, I got the 'inside scoop.' Siren, you're right on the money. Good job. [23:10:00 PM] Retri: The Nexus? [23:11:06 PM] James: Mhm [23:11:12 PM] James: It's a new feature I'll be adding soon [23:11:43 PM] Retri: I hope it's fun to use. ^_^ [23:12:00 PM] James: It will be something pretty different, it's a bit of an experiment. [23:12:38 PM] Retri: Hm... I like the sound of that. [23:14:19 PM] James: I doubt many people will use it, it's centered around the idea of gaming clans/groups [23:14:27 PM] James: But it'd certainly be nice if it exploded [23:15:00 PM] Retri: Hm... so it might be a place where people get together clans/groups, talk about them, recruit, and set up affairs? [23:15:15 PM] James: Sort of, yeah. I'm going to be quite generous with it [23:15:25 PM] James: Clans can apply to become OB-certified [23:15:33 PM] James: If they succeed, they get their own forum for just their clan [23:15:37 PM] James: Within The Nexus. [23:16:29 PM] Retri: Hm... Sounds like it has the potential to either madly grow out of proportion, with a whole lot of sub-forums, or just die, and leave behind alot of inactive sub-forums. [23:17:00 PM] James: *nods* [23:17:04 PM] James: Hopefully a happy medium, haha [23:17:15 PM] Retri: Yes, hopefully. [23:17:23 PM] Retri: I hope it'll draw more people to the boards. [23:17:30 PM] James: Yeah, that'd be nice [23:17:35 PM] James: It will have some rules but only basic ones [23:17:36 PM] James: Very basic [23:17:39 PM] James: Very easy to fulfill

This largely depends on the terrain. Tau will get slaughtered if it's not a large arena with good shooting-spots. I don't know much about Witch Hunters or Eldar, but Necrons are almost always a good bet. I've seen them do better in short-range exchanges of fire, or hand to hand combat. You want to get in and kill close range (unless you have a few long-range Nids). I'm sure you have grunt units that have low point costs -- use those as a diversion. Tau can't really hold off Nids on their own -- too many to deal with. Yes, I think you will have a fun time playing. Be sure to accomodate army's strong points (Give tau a good shooting-spot, etc) and you guys will think it's crack. I swear. lol

Hm... I enjoyed the first half of this movie alot. The second half was mediocre, but you're right, it was a good enough action flick. Definetly good enough to go see with some friends. I seriously can't believe people called this movie the worst Sci-Fi movie of all time. It wasn't strong, but it wasn't weak either.

Does having a teddy bear count? I carried him around where ever I went ... man, we're such buds. Once I lost him, but then later that night someone else found him and turned it back into the store where I left him behind. I was very happy to be reuninted with him. Heh. He stills sits on the side of my bed. Yeah, he's too cool for you.
One side note, a slightly philosophical one at that; is there even a norm for us humans? Is there a dedicated level or standard of set measurments that mark out being "average" or "normal?" Every person is different from another, so perhaps the problem IS that medication needs to be given judged on a case-by-case issue. That may prove tedious but probably much safer in the long run.
Yeah, normal exists. Normal is taking everyone's things in common, and calling it so. There will always be "normal." If you fail to have things in common with the general populace, you will be "abnormal." *shrug* Anyway, some mental illnesses are chemical, and can't be beaten by just "trying harder" or some other crap like that. Chronic depression can't be alleviated by just looking at the brighter side of life, or trying harder. Some illnesses are genetic, and therefore need medication. But as for every other kid having ADD, that's just an excuse parents give themselves for their poor upbringing of a child. Granted, I'm sure some kids actually do have ADD/ADHD... but for this one, I agree with Chaos (for the most part).

I'm glad this idea's been approved, and so now, I will try to clean out my PC of all those stagnant banners no one's going to use for a while. Would it be possible for OBers to put together banners that would be in a banner gallery for users to put in their signatures? Just like the avatar gallery, there are alot of user-made ones in there, so why not a banner gallery? I'm sure there's a reason why it's not created, as I doubt I'm the first to think of this.

OOC: Bout dern time, Domon.IC: Devia Parvulus Alexander stood inside the room with windows on all sides, staring in utter disbelief at Ayato. He took the time, to reiterate the information, making sure it was drilled in Sakura?s and his head. ?What you saw has already been explained. es, Ayato and Shinji are the pilots of those things. That is why they have left school in the middle of an attack.. The giant thing with wings on its head is called the RahXephon and Mr. Kamina pilots that, the other one that you saw today is Evangelion Unit 01 and Shinji pilots that. Now, I?ll let Mr. Ikari explain his situation to you.? Shinji cleared his throat, explaining to them how their universes because overlayed, and how this was possible. Alexander picked it up like water, wondering how many more things now existed in this universe that hadn?t already. The Angels? How many more? After the long explanation, they were told they had to leave school with Shinji if an Angel ever attacked. Alexander furrowed his brow, wondering how he would explain his absense to the teacher; apparently Sakura was thinking the same thing, he face contorted into a suspicious look. Finally, they were led from the grand room to the Evangelion Unit 00 dock. There was an awkward silence hanging over the group ? no one chose to speak. They stood around, watching Megumi hug her brother-in-law, when they were interrupted by the Lilia Litvyak entering the port. Her hull was mangled, with severe burns and deep perforations where the landing gear would have deployed. Alexander assumed it was credited to a mechanical malfunction. Everyone gave an inward sigh of relief as Souchii Yagumo emerged from the gangplank injured, but in one piece. ?What the? fuck?? Shinji seemed to be absorbed in Ayato?s conversation with Souchii. Sakura heard him, and shot him a ?be quiet!? glance. He was alone in his wonderment of the damaged ship. ?You see, we got into a fight with this huge looking angel. I thought it was originally a cloud because of its shape but then it fired on us and damaged the ship. When I?d realized what it was I had to run below and save Miss Ayanami. She?s on the bridge.? Alexander?s head swung instinctively to the bridge of the ship, trying to find a line of sigh to Ayanami. If she was a pilot, he wanted to know who she was. They walked into the ship, and finally caught sight of her for the first time. She was slender in stature, with pale blue hair and red eyes. Her eyes were captivating? but they felt empty. ?The eyes are the window to your soul.? He said simply when it came time for him to shake her hand. She gave him a blank gaze into his own eyes, chilling him somewhere deep inside. He felt slightly afraid, but the fear spurred his curiosity. Pensively he looked deeper, searching for? something? They simultaneously broke eye contact. ?Commander! We need you in the Command Center immediately, an angel has appeared, information points that it?s the one responsible for the attack on the Lilia Litvyak.? She tore away, jogging off to get suited up with Shinji and Ayato. Alexander watched at the window wistfully wondering about Rei, and the Angel that was attacking them. The battle seemed to pass by without him really realizing it. ?Did you ? notice something about Rei, Ms. Sakura?? He kept his eyes out on the battle. So did she. ?Why do you ask?? ?I don?t know? her eyes felt empty. You know how the eyes are the window to the soul?? ?Hm? no. Is that an American expression?? ?Oh. Yeah, it is. Sorry for bothering you.? His mind focused on the battle, watching their tactics and hoping he could pick something up by watching them fight what Shinji said was an extremely tough Angel. It seemed as if the RahXephon just effortlessly flew through the Angel, which disturbed him, but excited him even more. The bridge erupted into cheers. When the pilots got back, Alex ran to Shinji to congratulate his friend. ?How the hell did you guys do that? I mean, that was, Amazing! Brilli?? ?Thanks a lot!? Everyone showered them with streams of ?good job.? After the celebration, Rei was set to the Mulian Chamber, which highly interesting Alexander. She did not look excited to go, so he assumed it must?ve been punishment or mission debriefing. His train of thought was interrupted once more. ?All right you two. You?re to go with Mr. Kamina for the evening. We?ll make sure that you?re dropped off at home around seven. For now, he?ll explain things to you and then I want you two here after school tomorrow.? Alex perked up, and became even more excited. He was allowed to spend more time with his friends, eating, and buying things. He was sure his hosts wouldn?t mind, and followed Ayato out into the car garage. The outing was enjoyable, and he got to know both Sakura and Shinji better. Perhaps he would inform them of his drawings, and their striking similarity to that of the Evangelion Unit 00. He still guarded many ideas and emotions from the two. He did not think it wise to invest heavily in friends who he had not known for very long. But in the back of his mind, he sincerely wished he could divulge his mind to Shinji, and Sakura especially.
