Expect Fireworks when NASA blows up comet
Retribution replied to SunfallE's topic in General Discussion
I for one believe that the probe will completely miss the comet. There's plenty of variables to keep track of, and a very small target to hit. Making this a waste of NASA dollars. How deep does the probe have to gouge into the comet to find the pristine matter within? Is it even possible to go that deep with such a small probe? **shrug** As stated by others, it could possibley yield useful information, so I'll keep my mind open about the usefuleness of such an operation. -
I was waiting for you to post James, and I'm glad you have. You always seem to offer a different perspective on these things and it's definitely needed concerning important points such as this. The relation to this forum is one I probably should've thought of before. As you said, some words are censored and rightly so, but the content and real art of the forum is left open to be veiwed by any who choose to do so. This is how I wish for our society to be. As I mentioned before, censorship is warranted in some areas, but even after posting warnings and showing age appropriate logos music and movies are still censored. As far as religion, God is our only veiwpoint as of now, in my opinion. Yes there are several different religions, but the majority of them all go back to God and although they won't admit, a lot of them are incredibly similar. No, I don't worship Satan, but I don't believe in God either, and I've learned not to tell people this lol. I have before, friends, or those who've asked, and they treat me differently knowing that have different beliefs. Which is discrimination just the same, whether race or creed or whatever the subject may be, it's all discrimination. I believe that it's my choice and although I live my life without regret, I can't help but wonder if I'm wrong and they're right. But I do know I shouldn't have to question myself because they're uncomfortable with who I am.
This is what it's all about, and this is how it should be. The 'offensive' words are censored, but the message remains discernable and retains its original message. But as for the view of God being our only viewpoint, I believe you're completely wrong. If you just turn on the radio, most - if not all of the songs are not about God. I think that any prejudice recieved is not because God is the viewpoint of society, but because of misinformation of the public.

Maybe it's someone looking at the Grim Reaper, and wondering if they actually saw the real thing. All you see is a black sillhouette, so it may be hinting that a person thinks they saw 'ol Grim.

The wallpaper looks alright -- you didn't do too much to the image, so I can't really critique anything. The typography is hard to read vertically, and the colors aren't helping out the visibility either. I'd either make things brighter, or just it horizontally. The words at the bottom are barely there, but I'm guessing that's just for crediting the stock, you, etc. It's alright overall. As for the pop-quiz, I'm not a fan of the Geisha Skin. It's too hard on the eyes. Personally preference. But I have the answer! By "background of the forum" I take it that you mean not the vast whiteness, as the vast whiteness is perfectly white. All variables of red, green, and blue are equal. But as for the text boxes where our posts go in, it is ever so slightly red. May I have my A please? kthxbye11!
My first/current job is as a State Alchemist. I serve in Germany at Gorresfinn-Furtte. (I don't care if you don't believe me because I know that I am and that's good enough for me.) Anyhow, they only pay me 2,000 Euro a month(that's about 670 dollars) I am sooo underpaid for what I do. :animesigh (I make their damn research papers and do all of the work with alchemic research and they pay me 2,000 damn euro a month. Damn cheapskates  ) Does anyone else here get unfairly underpaid for you seemingly important job? Join the club.
What do you do as a State Alchemist? Change other metals into gold? The elixir of Longetivity? Alchemy is an outdated science that should have died in the medieval age. Making what you stated means that you make below the minimum wage of America. And from what I understand, the European minimum wage is higher than America's. Is that even legal? *shrug*

I work at my pool's snack bar. I get good hours, minimum wage ($5.15), and free food. I work along side my friends, so the job doesn't feel like a job. It's great.

Ehh... double posting isn't allowed, but these are too good not to critique now. Ahh, the first one is great! I love all the colors melt together -- it gives the piece alot of brewing emotion. The detail of the ...woman's? neck is great, and how 'her' back is turned on the gunman, who also has his back turned. I only wish you topped this great piece off with making the gunman a bit more 3d. He feels flat... or perhaps that was your intention. Interesting... *drool* Wow, I'm staring at Yuuki, and he's amazing. All the framents uniting to create something larger that just colors. I love the background especially, with all the crumbled paper and other assorted textures. Really makes things feel 3d. You're the best thing since sliced bread, so don't leave. Got it?

I've gotta hand it to you, Xion. Interesting ideas with spins on them. I like that, and I'd sign up for the second one you posted, but I have a few problems with both. For the first RPG, you never really explain the character's role in the RPG. You briefly mention that we have to fight the God of Dreams, while we're dreaming presumably, but fail to mention how we'd go about that, and why we'd need to rendezvous with any of the other characters. It's a good idea, but you need to develop the conflict more, and make the battle a bit more winable for the RPers, who are fighting a God at home field for lack of a better analogy. The second RPG I thought was outstanding. While I got tired of the four this and four that, it has a developed backstory, but again, you don't explain the conflict thoroughly. It's better than the first explaination, as you've told us that seven people outsiders have to try to beat Lucifer. But how are we supposed to be seemingly omnipotent people in a place where even our dreams can turn against us? The odds seem to stacked, and you might want to consider giving the strangers some sort of one-time trump to even the odds. Know what I mean? Very interesting, the both of them. Good job.

Sango? No. She's just some supporting character in the most filler-fied anime on the planet. Inuyasha has so much filler, you forget what was going on in the first place. Sango's lame boomerang can't defeat the coolness of an EVA either. Bam. Sides,
Rei sacrificed herself to destroy an angel, and in End of Evangelion, changes the world to a place with limits again.
How awesome is that? C'mon. GO REI!

I shall cast my vote forth! Kitty Your piece is good, with simple black and white. However, it feels cluttered on the right side of the banner. There's grunge floating around, and no sense of unity to it. But I definetly like the icon on the left side. Too bad you didn't make it. =3) But the typography "music" was good. Sean Your piece was good as well, with a different approach at depicting your feelings towards the subject. The sheet music in the back was good, and so were the colors on the blackness. I'm actually thinking about how you made it, which is good. Yes, the typography is a bit bland, but things are clean, organized, with a given focal point and a sparse use of color. Interesting. My vote goes to Sean. How's that for going against the grain. =3

Anime Subs (Japanese voices with subtitles) or Dubs (English voices)?
Retribution replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
I'm more for dubs than subs, but I don't particularly care. With dubs, I can hear an American voice, which I can listen to easily, and I relate with the sound of the voice more. Take the Japanese Goku and the American Goku. The Japanese version sounded slightly more childish with a high pitched voice. The American version had a deep voice, more associated with maturity than that of his counterpart. Aside from that, with subs, it's harder to keep up with the action, both reading and watching things actively. Sometimes I just wanna kick back, cease brain activity, and rely on my fluency, not read. -
I believe that BeyBlade is another generic anime to be lumped in with Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. All of which I named are saving the world with rather inconsequential items, such as spinning tops, cards, and animals. They exaggerate the situations and act like things couldn't be solved by just running in with an Uzi and killing the antagonist.
-
I've watched some of the anime, and from what I hear, it's basically the same. I wasn't much for it thought, as it felt a bit too generic for my taste, and in some parts, downright absurd and whimsical. For the record, I don't like absurd or whimsical story lines. It all depends on taste though, as some of my friends really love it. I guess you can check out the next volume to see what you think of it yourself.

Wooooow. This time, you need to teach me! I don't like the blurry background much, but then again, I don't know exactly what to tell you to put there in its stead. Maybe just black would be fine. The typography is fine, but "Please forgive me" is a bit pixelly on the stroke. And the blood, please teach me the ways. That's full-out awesome. Go team you!
-
Not to be mean or anything... but why do you need to add in a whole 'nother verse to your signature? Another verse that no one will read, and it'll just sit there festering? I think 500 is fine... and I have trouble imagining what you'd put there. I mean, I was on a site with a 50 character limit, and I managed. **shrug**

Whoa! Please, please, please stay in the Art Forum please! You rock so much it's scary. The first one is pretty good. I can't really give you any feedback as I 1) don't draw and 2) it's too awesome to feasibly critique and not look like a jerk-face. The second is exactly what I've been trying to imitate in my digital medium. Sadly, I haven't been able to do something like this. I mean, it looks like you must've cut something out of a magazine, but being drawn kicks some major-***. All I don't like is the red space at the top. It's a bit too much... but I like this. I'm safe in giving these both 10s/10, as these (in my opinion) are as close to perfect as I'm going to see. Number three. Jesus. Awesome. Same comments apply as number one. Meaning nothing. You rock so much it's scary. *worships*

Damn! You kickass, Sean-man. Name: Sanctus Age: 23 Gender: Male Appearance: [link] Personality: Sanctus is usually sarcastic and cynical towards others, preferring to be 'realistic' about things, and not idealistic. Believing that it is best to keep your mind in the moment, he tends to not be sociable during missions. However, after one, he returns to a regular person with his usual smiles and cynicism. Weapons: 1x Electro-Sword 1x Modified Electro-Sword (shortened length) 1x Semi-Automatic Assault Rifle Biography: Pt. I//Family History Sanctus was born on Earth, in Castile, Spain. He was born into an upper-class family known for their wealth and skill in swordplay. Raised in such an environment, Sanctus latched to the finer things of life, preferring the life of luxury over that of the average Spanish citizen. Pt. II//Enlistment Realizing Sanctus was becoming an aristocrat with no knowledge of their Castilian swordsmanship of the past generations, his father forced him to train with the rapier tirelessly. Quickly learning the Rules of Engagement for gentlemanly warfare, and defeating all foes in his path, his father realized his knack for swords. He sent him away to Japan to learn the dual sword style of Miyamoto, and hoped Sanctus would amalgamate both styles into a new one. Upon arrival, Sanctus began his study, living in an impovershed dojo near Tokyo. It was there he spent five years learning and eventually, perfecting the dual sword style. After his training was complete, he experimented with using two swords, while using his Castilian style. "So. Where do I go from here?" The words rattled around his skull. Realizing he was rich and could retire to the Spanish aristocracy and never lift another finger was heartwarming, but he knew he should use his training for a higher purpose. Deciding to fight injustice and evil as his faith had taught him to. "I'm enlisting in the Japanese Special Defense Force." And so it was. Pt. III//Specialty Sanctus' specialty is close-range fighting as well as stealth. Pt. IV//Position Prior to Attack Sanctus' rank was that of 1st Lieutenant prior to the attack.

Art Hack Helba's art stuido (back in business)
Retribution replied to Stuart's topic in Creative Works
Did you render that, or draw it in PSP? Either way, nice job. But the edges on the trees seem sharp, like they're made out of paper. Try rounding off all the edges. The sun looks a bit soft, but I get the feeling like I'm looking through the boggy mists. Which is good. But make it a bit more realistic, perhaps with a lens glare or something in there. I love the depth this picture provides as well, and nice attention to detail with the hanging vines and such. I'd like to think that not only the Elite can make the Studio prosper. It's the interest in art that keeps things going, not the uber artists. -
Hah, so you're just ripping off that game! :D That's just... arrogant! :p In that case I suggest you put some original effort to this RPG, so you'd at least have a clear consciense to call it yours. ;)
No, I think this idea is way too generic to be ripping off the game. The Evil Genius with his goonies doing the Genius' bidding has been around since the dawn of time. If anything, the videogame is ripping off Zidargh's story line.

Thankee Goddess & Kit-Kat. I was kinda gunning for that Jazzy feel, so I'm glad I acomplished that. Anyway, I made another piece, but it's not very work intensive. It look me a good ten minutes of working, but that's not what took this so long. It was finding a picture of a nice-girl. Meaning fairly good looking, not looking like she's some prostitute, is in color, and gives you a warm vibe. On dA, most of the stock photos of women had panty shots and what-not, or girls looking slutty, naughty, mean, too sexy for their own good. I wanted a simple picture of a girl standing up, smiling at the camera gently, looking attractive. The one in the picture currently I had to rotate (she was laying down), and crop (she had stuff hanging out all over). But I made it look like she was nice. Right? This work is meant to be more of a statement than a masterpiece of mine. I wanted to show how sex-driven the world is today. My image searching on dA is a perfect example of that. Too much sex, not enough modesty. Enjoy. Stock on the left is from [link], and the right picture is by earthtorachel of deviantART. THIS IS NOT BEAUTY

This Graphics Club Battle is official finished. I am pleased to present Goddess the victor of this. Hip-hip-Hooray! I sense bitterness though... please don't hold grudges. They're bad. v_v

Wait. Maybe I missed something. How does this RPG operate at all without conflict? I don't see what you all would be going against. The Good Guys, I presume. Who plays them? You? Sounds dry... Now, if you were to cast like one RPer who would play the Good Guys, things would be interesting.

I say we bust him and the other prisoners out.
I second that. Godel, the porno mag was utterly hilarious. I wonder what I would do if I were to meet the jailors. I doubt I'd actually take the path of physical violence. More like sabotage... somehow, and be very sarcastic.
