I can read multiple novels, but I will begin to read both of them less frequently, and as a result finish much later. I have a pretty good attention span, can pick up on details easily, and remember them pretty far down the road. My limit, though, is at two novels... because they begin to blend and stuff. If I'm going to read three books, one of which has to be really light and unimportant.

Art Original character + my boredom. (sketches)
Retribution replied to eleanor's topic in Creative Works
Those are really good. The only thing I noticed is that guy2layout's eyes (collectively) are really huge, which gives him a fish-esque face. Do you see what I mean? Perhaps not ... but even still, really really good attention to proportion as far as the body goes. -
I'd leap for the closest "phrase dictionary" or whatever. And much like Manic, I'd go out eating anything that caught my eye. Spicy's da best!

China, Japan, Korea, and something dumb.
Retribution replied to eleanor's topic in General Discussion

Japan went into China and Korea headstrong nothing to say about that. But they killed many innocent people of course. But isn't that the same thing that we are doing today? Aren't the countries of Britain, Canada, and most importantly goign into Iraq and killing thousands of people? And correct me if I am wrong, Bush clearly said that they are going to go in there and kill as many people as were killed in the 9/11 attacks? Haven't they killed twice as many people?
No, I'm sorry. Justification of Japan's war crimes isn't gonna fly here. Just because people are dying now doesn't mean that Japan's massacres of towns, and spotaneous attack of Pearl Harbor were justified in the least. Like Godel said, don't compare WWII to the War in Iraq. World War II is one of the great stains of history, while the War in Iraq is controversial. It saddens me deeply that you would even look for justification for Japan's actions of the past.
And not teaching the events that my country of Japan did in the past is in fact doing good for the students. It's supposed to be sheltered from them because they will not likely to repeat again later on. Isn't that what history is about Godelnesensei?
It's definitely not doing any good for these kids. It cripples them once they get into the real world, where everyone knows what actually happened, but they're oblivious to the fact. If you know the mistakes of the past, you know how to avoid them. By not teaching these children, they are prone to make the same mistake in the same fashion as last time. I'm sure you've heard that before. -
I mean... what do you want me to say? That all of these are awesome? They're good, mostly but... You have only one effect I've seen so far, which is the grungy, sketchy, colored background with a clean image on top. It looks good in and of itself, but in general, it's really really played. Get a new effect, and experiement. They're getting repetitive, and sometimes I think that you just slightly alter/flip one original template, then throw some text and a stock on it. I also think the 5/05 could've been incorperated into the banner better. It seems to stick out. And maybe changing the font for "Operation" to display each character's emotions would've been better. Sorry if I sound harsh. But I think we're good enough friends for you not to be pissed.

If I were the guy, I'd be some what reluctant to hop back into a relationship with you. I mean, you dumped because you felt scared due to the fact that you cared about him. You really should've talked to each other, and put everything on the table back then. Communication makes relationships work. But now, I'd recommend giving a little time to him and you. See how you actually feel in a week or so -- just to make sure it's not infatuation/lust, and if it isn't, make your move. You're going to need to be really repentent too, since you were at fault the first time.

In the battle of x kakashi x versus Albel, I pick x kakashi x as the winner. Here's why: He had better quality posts, which were longer and more descriptive in general. They felt completely, as opposed to how Albel's posts were short, nondescript, and lacking creative attacks/strategies. While both of you were repetitive in places, it turned out to be a good fight. Well done, both of you. And why isn't any one else participating in Blade Masters anymore? Was it a fad? I'm still game for any challenges.
Well, seeing as half of San Francisco speaks broken English, it's hard to tell. It's fun pretending to be tourists, though. I'll go to one of my hometowns and ask random people where random places are and see if they know where it is. I don't know where that famous building in San Francisco is. I mean, I can walk to the best spot to see the Golden Gate from, buuuuut I don't even know what that building is called! Same deal with my friends who've lived here a bit longer than I have [three years]. Touring your own city can be interesting, though. Just to see how boringly your own city's represented... Hmm. And I swear I kicked myself in the *** for confusing London Bridge with Tower Bridge when I lived in Paddington for four months. ._.
This is rather unrelated, and bordering on spam, but it's too good to not post. I had a dream I went to San Fran, to this street you were talking about and ended up meeting you in person. The graffiti wall's colors were all swirling about, so eventually I collapsed on the ground from vertigo. You kinda walked off, and when I awoke fifteen minutes later, I was in my school. That's where the dream gets off topic. Heh. I myself think that DC's all hype. I mean, sure, we're the nation's capital, but go too far in the wrong direction from the "nice" places, and you're in shady territory. It's not that nice of a place, but feels at home to me. ^__^

I hope my sign-up doesn't screw around with the plot too much. If so, I'll change it. Name: Aelio Affiliation: Angel, Seraphim more specifically Age: Appears to be early twenties, but has existed ever since God created the Heavens. Appearence: [will come soon] Personality: Aelio is a very obedient Angel, studying hard, listening and faithfully following God's every word without second thought. He works tirelessly for perfection at anything -- a habit taught to him when he was created, and is therefore second nature. Aelio is also a stickler for form, and follows the rules to the letter. He is very smart, organized, and educated. Weapon: Flaming Rapier burning with God's Justice, hungring to put to death heretics and abominations to God. Scroll of Purgury is a scroll, which when read aloud, painfully cleans the soul of whomever hears of it. If they are angelic, they feel no effect, but those tainted are slowly purged of their evil. Reason for Being Placed in Limbo: To watch those in Limbo, and make sure they don't misbehave or try to escape. He's a jailor of sorts, sent by God. Personally, he loves it. The Meet: The sky was as beautiful as the day before, and the day before that. As far back as time spanned, he remembered flawlessly. God's creation was Good, but unfortunately, those dwelling in it were not. It was quite routine for people to instantly appear in Limbo, those being sentenced there forever. It gave him a feeling of slight sadness, but ulimate joy, knowing that those who deserved their punishment justly recieved it from the Lord Almighty. One specific person walked over to Aelio while he was keeping track of the new arrivals in his scroll. He cleared his throat, stirring his thoughts from his appointed task. With divine happiness, he greeted the newcomer. "Welcome to Limbo! As I'm sure you know, you in some way deserved to come here, and by the looks of that one black wing--" He was rudely cut off by the other man. "Not always is His punishment just." "Ahh... I can see now. Heresy?" He inquired, feeling that the angel was hiding something. "It matters not. The only reason I'm speaking to you now, and not wallowing in perpetual insanity is this -- you hold the keys to Limbo, so you're the only way out. I've come to ask you to come with me." "And over look my task given to me by the Almighty? I'll be slain before I Judas Him." The analogy always gave him satisfaction, knowing that someone who denied Jesus deserved to die. He was all forgiving, but once you die, your chance is over with. "I swear I will give you a better look at Him -- one in a, shall we say, divine light?" He was testing him. It was perfect -- he'd 'escape' with them, then turn them to the Trinity once they had sinned. If, however, these wretches did manage to redeem themselves, he'd put in a good word with St. Peter. "I will go with you. But please remember, I am the reason you can leave... not on your own power, and in a moments notice, I will pray to those On High for delieverance." He felt at peace with his decision. His action was justified, as he was one of God's highest attendants -- a Seraphim. "Whatever. Let's go. We have no time to waste."

What deep thought or quote do you think of regularly?

Pretty good as a whole. Only a few things to change: Friendship was pretty good as a whole. I don't like how you applied that layer effect on him, and the background is too ... bland? I'd recommend a smoothing effect (chrome, maybe?) on the background to make it look softer, as opposed to all the hard lines in there. The guy should be more crisp, distinctly separated from the image. If you have alot of time on your hands, you could tweak his colors with Image>Adujustments>Color Balance. Courage is the better of the two, as tai is blended better, and the background fits it nearly perfectly. I'm only going to recommend finding a better font for "courage," as it's a wee-bit redundant after using it on "friendship." In general, saving the file as a .gif will give you transparency where you set your picture to have it. Now, I see that your files are indeed .gifs, the area on the image itself probably isn't transparent, but white. This could be easily fixed by using the magic eraser, and just clicking on the white area, then resaving the file as a .gif. I'm guessing that will solve the transparency. If you weren't trying for transparency, forgive me. Heh. Kinda sorry if I'm pissing you off by doing this, but I decided to just fix the transparency for you.
Passover. Yes. Let's celebrate the miasmic slaughter of hoards of Egyptian boys. Horray.
Not really. You're celebrating the deliverance from the Angel of Death, and the Exodus from Egypt. The slaughter of countless Egyptian boys came with the package -- besides, they had their chance. They were warned by my homeboy Moses, but no one listened. God had to lay the smack down.
But doesn't purge mean to vomit? If I feel a binge coming on, I have a diet coke...?
Haha no. Purge means to purify or cleanse. But I'm sure the anorexic slang is beyond me. XD And yeah, I celebrated Passover with some Jewish friends three years ago. Twas fun, but somewhat solemn, so it was hard to laugh and have a good time. I guess Christmas' cheer reels me in. Not to mention the presents.
! I adore tourists, but probably because I travel 6-8 times a year. People-watching is great.
Urg. So you were one of them who ate the food, took up space, and hogged the view of MY CITY's cherry blossoms? Haha. "If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?" I'm sure you've seen this quote on a bumper sticker before. It mimics my feelings exactly. As for people watching, they do provide ample entertainment. Walking through the crowd, jostling them as they glance at their city map and try to make out where they are. Every now and then, at appropriate intervals, my friends and I let out a "I hate tourists..." and proceed to grumble. The reaction is always different. ^_^

China, Japan, Korea, and something dumb.
Retribution replied to eleanor's topic in General Discussion
Being Korean, it's practically just in my gut to be biased against Japan. My mom practically loathes the country because of the things that had happened to her family. But still...this whole thing is ridiculous.
I know exactly where you're coming from. My Korean aunt said that "the Japanese are sneaky people," which kind of shocked me. I suppose I didn't understand the bias each nation had towards the other. As for censoring texts and whatnot, it shouldn't be done. The youth need to know their past and what happened, instead of burying history and making like it never happened. What if the Germans didn't tell their youth about what really happened during WWII? If they ever got on the topic of it, they'd be blown away, and probably not believe them either. Don't shelter them -- let the kids have it unabridged. They need to know their roots, and how the world has changed from them. What if I had been sheltered, and didn't know my own heritage; the horrors of the Middle Passage, and the brutal slave trade? I'd rather know my past, so I can walk with pride about how far we've come. -
Too much Sex? (slightly mature discussion)
Retribution replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
ok i had the same problem. exept i am fifteen and am devorced. my exhusband and me reall were into sex like that. before we were married we would do it like every day. well relationships are not built on sex alone. i think that if you are not serious (like marrage) be really careful because one of the reason i got married was because i was pg. I lost my baby but i still feel the pain so if you dont want to end up like me. i would say try to slow down on the sex. and really get 2 know each other before you make a big step. but its your life. :animedepr
Like kakashi, I'm a little confused. Perhaps a typographical error? You're fifteen and married someone? And had too much sex, and lost your baby? Sorry for the prying, personal questions. I guess I was a little ... taken aback when I read it. v_v Too much sex? If it's damaging your life in some way. Aside from that, don't take my advice on this topic. I don't know anything about it. xD -
What deep thought or quote do you think of regularly?
Retribution replied to Kyoko Makashiro's topic in General Discussion
You think you have the right to brand our quotes as ones worthy only for a cereal box? You're truly as deep as a puddle. I guess you can't read very well, either, as you think our fonts are 'too stylish to read.' No one here was trying to be wise or deep or profound. We are offering the quotes that we try to live by or think of often -- not prove we are a sage or a monk. So what if they're slightly cliche? You have zero right to call them cereal box quotes, snatched from the mouthes of unsuspecting people. How do you know if we made them ourselves? Actually, looking back at everyone's quotes again, they really have plenty of truth laden in them. It just takes someone with half a brain to see it. How about you grow up, and when you're old enough to be mature and respect people's values and ideas post again. Until then, shut the ******* up. -
OOC: Yay! Here we go...IC: He had lost track of the thief, wondering exactly where she had gone. She had to have been hiding amidst one of the crates in the vicinity, but searching them all would take too long -- precious time that needed to be used in more productive manners. His hunt was cut short by several flying projectiles speeding towards his body. He rolled to the side, blocking the remaining few with his kodachi in his left hand. He tried to trace the projectile's source judging from it's flight path, but she had been shrewed in moving from her position. Feeling exposed, he twirled around desparetly searching for his foe. He was in the open, and she knew where he was. As luck would have it, he was facing a Sakura who had thrown several shuriken in his general direction, while preparing a stab. He did not have enough time to move out of the way of the stab, however he blocked the shuriken away from him in a flight path high into the air. With a sickening slash, he was pierced into his abdomen. Wincing his pain as she wrenched the dagger from his body, she backflipped, and landed -- winking wickedly as she went. Who's laughing now? he thought, as the deflected shuriken came down upon her. It was quite lucky that she had seen them, or her skull would have been crushed from their gained momentum. That is not to say, however, that her shuriken pouch went untouched. As she had dodged the oncoming shuriken from above, her holding-pouch was slit open by them, spilling her weaponry onto the ground in front of her. She gave Miyamoto a death glare, staring at him very angrily as she thought about her next course of action. While she ruminated over what exactly had happened, and how lucky Miyamoto had been, her opponent rushed at her. Being a thief, she performed a coordinated back-handspring as Miyamoto had entered attack range and slashed out with his katana, but Miyamoto's dogged determination would not let her elude his grasp so easily. Even with his throbbing wound, his left arm shot out at her neck just as she was landing her first flip. In response, she deftly back-hangsprung again, this time knocking Miyamoto's blade upward and away from her neck. Quickly improvising, he took another step towards her, each second getting closer to her. Within another instant, he was bringing his katana down over her head, just as she was rising her dagger up to parry it. The steel collided, brilliantly emitting red and gold sparks in a dazzling display. Both combatants fought with determination to push the other's blade down on their adversary. Sakura was quickly winning out, as Miyamoto had only one arm's strength, but he did have two swords. He waited until her lean into the blade was committed before he shot out his kodachi to hack at her ribs.OOC: Tag. ^_^

Let me start off my post with a nice, warm I hate tourists. I mean, who doesn't? They flock to your city, act annoying, lack courtesy, clog up all your spots you want to hang out at, and make life miserable. I live in DC, and the cherry blossom festival just passed. They were beautiful, but I was too busy fending off the tourists. Go back to Montana and Vermont! Haha. So here's a picture of mine from then. And a rather cool shot of my city. Although I didn't take this one.

I usually don't like rain. I mean, it's alright, but my family ALWAYS opens the windows when it rains, so the house gets all cold, and you can almost feel the moisture all around you. It's so disgusting, I just want to die or something. Rain's fine when I look at it. But hot weather, and I mean scorching weather, is the best kind. I love a heartless sun, beating down on my back. ^_^

Art Hatake Back- No Way! [Really Image Heavy]
Retribution replied to Ninjah's topic in Creative Works
Euphoria is good, but it looks like blended distortion. It doesn't flow too gracefully. There's no unified element to it either. There's no focal point, but the font is pretty good. What is it? Too Emo for you is alright. The black and white are pretty good for emo (yuck @ the music!), but I fail to see the connection to "Fairway Heights." It's kinda random ... but once again, the font is good. ^_^ Teh Visual! Pretty good, actually. But the transition is a little choppy, and the image isn't that clean, but good for experimental. -
Thanks, KittyLynn. I apprieciate the comment. I'm glad you liked the image so much... just be sure to give me credit if you show it to anyone else. ^_^ Anyway, here's a new banner. Nice and warm for ya! Fire away at it. Fire Within

What deep thought or quote do you think of regularly?
Retribution replied to Kyoko Makashiro's topic in General Discussion
Well, a few phrases of mine... you may have seen them on me. "Teach me to be stronger." Sometimes, I feel quite inadequate. In sports, school, whatever. I feel my efforts are fruitless and thrown to the wind. I want to be superman, in a way. Perfect, never failing at all. Sadly, I cannot be perfect, but I can be stronger. "I've failed you. Please, forgive me." We all screw up pretty bad in life, and things are only right again if you're forgiven. Now, in my case, this quote was from when I messed up really really bad, but my parent's didn't seem to want to forgive me. If it makes any difference, my GPA took a pretty hard hit, and I was doing alot better already for the fourth quarter. I wanted to leave my failure in the past, to move on with my life, but they didn't seem to be like that. They insisted on punishment, and restrictions, and making life hell. I told them flat out "I want to move on. Stop dwelling on this." It's basically the same thing. "Through the adversity and hardship I fight, with only bitter tears and cold determination." Now, as you may have gathered, I've failed alot and I hate it. I struggle through the tough times with only my will to guide me through it, feeling rather separated from the rest of the world. The only thing that holds me together is my determination to get through it all as best I can. -
*worships kitty* Ahh yes! You did find it. I'm glad too -- I suppose I should post a few times more in your own thread too ... I've been pretty absent over yonder. Thanks for the feedback. The avatar/icon of the Tokyo banner was originally make for a specific forum, where the avatar couldn't be larger than 60x60. So yes, it could've been better, but there's only so much detail you can squeeze into such a small space.
Thanks, I'm glad to be recognized as a good abstract artist, usually my stuff is made during my free time, messing with filters and stuff. Retibution's work is far more creative then mine, though. If anyone has the time go check out his thread called "Altron's Canvass".
LMAO Modest to no end, neh? In all honesty, I'm not 'far more creative' than you -- I just have a different vision than you. Personally, I like your bleach banner alot. A really nice, yet subtle touch was the man in the reflection of the sword, which was completely awesome. The crispness (thru blend-modes I assume) of the entire thing was stunning... sweet eye candy. You have yet to teach me that abstract effect you do that makes it look ... awesome. The problem with the bleach banner is that where it's supposed to be transparent, it's still white. Save it as a .gif file instead of whatever you're using. .gif supports transparency. Hope it helps. Best of luck to you, and keep cranking out the graphics.
