Dog breeds, your favorite and why...i
Endymion replied to Akieen Cloud's topic in General Discussion
Cocker Spaniels, I have two. They're full of spunk and energy like me...so they accompany me when I go out on jogs and don't stray or anything. If someone looks at me the wrong way they open a can of not-so-big-dog growl action. -
Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
Endymion replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
I've only been through 4 dvds for Ai Yori Aoshi, but it's definitely a great show. I just need to light a match under Netflix and get the 5th dvd here. I'll have to start collecting the manga soon. -
Thanks Sem for reminding me! I forgot about EVE Online. Not because it sucked. It was actually really fun. It sort of reminded me of that singleplayer sci-fi game where you can get new ships/upgrade and whatnot and was voice by the magnificent Bruce Campbell. The same friend that had gotten me addicted to the previously mentioned MMORPGs got me into this one too. Mining was alright, trading was fairly decent and missions were the occasional flavor. Too boost the love of the game, we became pirates - and became quite effective at that. His frigate was equipped for electronic warfare (warp/target disruptors, etc) with a small armament of close range laser turrets. My frigate on the other hand was pure muscle. Heavily shielded and armed to the teeth with two missle turrets and two railguns...it was a long/medium range behemoth(woohoo Caldari!). Over the course of a few weeks, we probably raked in close to 500M isk (the currency in the game). Our best pirating adventure was one that actually didn't get us any money. Found some guy mining, my friend disrupted his warp escape while I beat the ship down to its structure. (Ships 1st defense was shielding, followed by armor, then structure). After a lengthy conversation between my friend and our target, he still didn't pay up the measly 10M isk we were asking for. Instead he stalled us so his friends showed up in 3 cruisers of various types. I launched a single missle and destroyed the punk's ship, leaving only his life pod. The cruisers had warped into the general area, but weren't in effective weapons range for me...so I told him to pay up or die. Missles whizzed by. My friend warped towards the jump gate out of the system. No money was injected into my account. I let the missle fly and Mr. Miner got to wake up in a clone facility in some unknown system. I exchanged fire briefly was his now disgruntled friends and warped to one of the planets. My friend was not able to leave the system initially as they had another friend blockading the gate. Cat and mouse ensued for an hour, maybe two. Finally, in the open chat of the system, after a lengthy discussion between them all for us to see, they all converged on the jumpgate. My friend and I decided to run the blockade. The security in the system was enough so that there were galactic police around the gates as well. As we accelerated for the gate, the cruisers belligerently opened fire. The police ships, seeing the one sided firing opened fire as well as the defensive turrets. As we warped away, we laughed our ***** off as the cruisers exploded. All of them. We estimated the cost of ships with minimal equipment was probably between 500M to 1B isk. Sucks for them. Then we got slapped with 10M bounties each :animesmil yay for notoriety.

MMORPGs...the bane of my High School career. I started playing Everquest back in 11th grade (showing my age here) when the Kunark expansion was first released. The game at that time was simply amazing. As great as it was, the following expansion was nice, but gameplay started to go downhill from there. I forgot what the expansion was called...when the opened up the moon and those ridiculous cat people (Kerrans or something or other), it pretty much made wizards' and druids' teleportation spells useless. I endured, or tried to, with the remnants of my guild (there'd been some guild mergers when I went off to bootcamp) and key members, dear friends of mine ingame who weren't happy about left. What finally put the nail in the coffin for my Everquest run was when they allowed halflings to become rangers, which in my time was only for wood elves, half-breeds and humans. Right after that patch, I see a level 53 halfer ranger with both of his epics. Bless Tunare (the deity of nature), but that was the last straw. My friend that had gotten me into EQ, after our falling out with Verant...well Sony at that point in time, got me into Anarchy Online. Sci-fi MMORPG?! Sweet. Constant pvp action, single player/group generated instances. Fun indeed. Never fell into a group of companions that were like my guild in EQ. Not that I was looking for the same feel, but it'd be nice. Following AO? Dark Age of Camelot. It wasn't too bad. Played an elf ranger. Insert nerf stick. Done. I had fun playing it, but after the nerf - pvp was disasterland for rangers. Then came GuildWars. Quite different from what Everquest was, but it definitely likeable, both playing and in the wallet category (free woo hoo!). I still play once in awhile, but was never able to immerse myself in the world enough for longevity of playing. The final game I played was World of Warcraft. Most definitely fun. Graphics, gameplay, based in the strategy game universe that I loved dearly...definitely awesome. My first character was an orc warrior. He lost his luster around level 20 or so. Not exactly sure why there were only a couple role-playing servers out of the multiple that were there (there were only a dozen or so when I first started, I guess theres many more than that now). Why play an rpg and not roleplay /shrug. After throwing my orc warrior on the backburner, I created an undead mage. Horde-side on Silver Hand, back in my day, I was one of maybe a half dozen frost-focused mages on the server (this was way well before whatever that magma high-end instance was called came out). The guild I was in was great as well. Immersed in rp, as was my character. The intances (now considered old world) were really great at any level area, my favorite though lied with the ones in the Plaguelands. Got a new job so I couldn't really devote myself to the game as much and eventually lost interest, but kept in contact with a few people. Returned after the release of the expansion going to Draenor ( or at least the remnants of it...the Shattered Lands if I remember correctly ). I put my 60(which was the highest level back in my day) frost mage joy on the back burner and created a blood elf paladin. Very fun to play especially with the background of the race and with others likeminded in RP. I leveled my mage fast, but with this character - knowing where to go and all, leveled even faster. I was able to visit my favorite old world instances a few times, much to my enjoyment, but everyone was busy pretty much powerleveling, getting 'phat lewtz', and pvping for honor/honor gear to care really about them. Hitting 65 and exploring some of the shattered lands with my mana wyrm pet, I finally got burnt out (doing that, working as a volunteer firefighter, and still working at the newspaper that I had gotten a job at previously). I finally hung up my sword and shield. I'd have to say, with all of the games, I've had really great experiences and memorys with some great people. I'd have to say pre-velious everquest was the best, followed closely by my times as an undead mage and blood elf paladin ( Horde ftw...everyone and there mom was a night elf or gnome lolz ). If I did create my own anime,(and had unlimited financial reservoirs for it) I would create it in Japanese. During production, I'd have a concise and believable dub version for the release.

Anime What Classic Books wouldn't you mind seeing an Anime version of?
Endymion replied to onenuttytanuki's topic in Otaku Central
I wouldn't mind seeing Titus Andronicus brought to film or series. It is Shakespeare's bloodiest tragedy ( might have been the first one he did too ). It'd be quite the treat with all of the tragedy, intrigue and horror that it brings. An anime version of the '99 film with Anthony Hopkins would be cool as well, since that had some modernization to it ( like when the Romans marched in from their victory, they had motorcycles flanking them. ) -

Jeez...I haven't posted on OB in x amount of months. So it's pretty much like Return of the King for you guys :animesmil Probably close to one of the most fairly recent pics I have. Hmmm. -
Lets see, in June, I got pulled over on my way home from work. It was a county sheriff. My inspection had just expired and she asked about it. I told her that on Friday (it was Monday) I had an appointment at my dad's friend's shop to get it taken care of. We laughed about it and she said to go on my way. That Wednesday I was some 2 minutes from home on my way from work, and a Town cop pulled me over...for the same reason. I'd told him that my appointment was 2 days away. He gave me a smug look and said I had more than enough time to do it. Took my license and registration - winds up that my licence expired on my birthday (which i wasn't aware of, because one normally gets something in the mail telling you that). So I got a ticket for expired inspection and unlicensed driver. At that point, he asked if anyone could pick me up, since I couldn't legally drive. After explaining that I was on my way from work and 2 minutes away from home, he said he could follow me there. Got those 2 tickets in June, sent them in and my court date isn't until October 30th...gotta love how they're on the ball since the license was renewed the day after getting pulled over and my inspection was done that Friday. Still

I was actually in the upper echelon in high school. Played baseball and football. Went to every social event. Pretty much went to every party from Freshman year onward ( junior/senior parties ). I can't say that I was an devout member in the Anime club, ( if I had a game/date/etc ), but I was active. My team/schoolmates had no problem and I actually got many to start enjoying it as much as I did. I'm guessing there was no 'loser' abuse by my affiliates because of my membership? I remember having some pretty hillarious anime discussions while inebriated at a party. Good times.

I'd be a milk chocolate candy bar. Within the bar would be flakes of almond with a light dark chocolate drizzle on the top. I'd be tetris-y looking so it can break apart with ease (and if you have a bunch of friends that are too lazy to buy their own). The wrapper itself would be sleek and black, chocolateLOVE in a script-like lettering. On the lower right hand corner would be a small tidbit "An orgasm of pure chocolatey joy

I certainly have a few hobbies (although with my current schedule and don't get to enjoy them as much as I'd like). I'm an outdoorsman. Camping, hiking, rafting, you name it! The area in New York I'm located in has some very beautiful scenery and I like to go out and take it all in. Especially if you camp and fish?! It's great, living off the land (well lake) if you will. At home I enjoy reading, writing and drawing. Recently i've only been able to read, but I've started to draw again. Not doing it in so long has caused me to get frustrated at every little thing I feel is out of it. I also have a love for cooking. My italian cuisine is great, and my French, Spanish and Japanese dishes have been greatly improved after practicing:animestun over the years. Since college, non-study time in the evenings pretty much went to going to parties, bars and danceclubs. I love movies, going to them in theaters and just sitting at home watching a dvd. Work is pretty much uber multi-tasking all of the time so I have to play a dvd and chat while I'm doing whatever needs done - Or I get bored out of my mind. I love news, and get a certain fulfillment for working for one. But it's not all sunshine and cupcakes. Pretty much all I can think of at this point, peace out girl scouts.

Virgins! You're Either Really Smart or Really Dumb

First time I took the SATs in high school I got a blah 1300...Before the next testing I just happened to rock some high school socks and managed to scrap up to a 1440...of course these are old scores and I think since they made a new system with a writing part...of course I am an English major....So I think college nights on thursdays + classes = better scoring. Besides, girls enjoy it if you're articulate. :animeswea -
If I remember correctly, it was around 11 years of age I snooped around my parents' room and found presents from 'Santa' in the closet. Ever since my discovery I kept the facade up with my parents until my younger siblings gradually came to the conclusion that Santa didn't really come down our chimney every year. Somewhat still believe in the idea of Santa, as it does bring out the good and joy in people that time of year. I can't say I don't believe the the big J...I just got sick of the idea after being a stalwart Catholic for around 21 years and then crap just hitting the fan. Where is Jesus you ask? He's in the box with the manger waiting for next Christmas to come out :animeknow. Aliens? Why not, I'm fairly certain there's life out there. I don't think it was some freak accident that caused life on Earth and no where else in the ever expandingly ginormous universe. Just as long as they have chocolate-chip cookie dough icecream and hot gals I'll be more than happy to meet them... If there those big black eyed grey men from Fire in the Sky? F that. The end.
There's nothing fair about sex. Ugly people date attractive ones all of the time. Sometimes being cute isn't everything, and having a real personality will help you more in the long run. Go get a date and stop wasting your time arguing about sexual dynamics on OB. The end. -Shy
Absolutely correct, Shy. Ugly and average people date attractive ones all of the time, attractive people date attractive people all of the time. People are cute in their own ways and it's up to the person looking to see what they like. I mean...I have bars that need to be met or all the girl gets is a hearty handshake. I think in the last 4 years, I've only had really had 2 serious relationships(both just happened to end in cheating - not me of course*), can't count how many FoBs I've know since... *I'm pondering whether or not someone cheating on you makes you more...prone to do it yourself in the future. Any thoughts? Girls are evil:animeswea, but I still love them anyway.

I'm really looking forward to the releases of Halo 3 as well as Fable 2. The story line is pretty good and the end of 2 in Halo just leaves you salivating for more. Well...that and humping n00b corpses on LIVE. Fable was an incredible game, though I felt it was somewhat lacking in some aspects. From what I've read and seen about the sequal, I'm writhing in anticipation. Probably the game I'm most looking forward to is Starcraft 2. The gameplay trailer rocked my socks with the new elements added. I can only hope that Blizzard will work some magic on getting the game out soon sometime in the not-so-near future (say 1-1.5 years). I need to see Jim Raynor splatter some bugs and see what the Queen of Blades has up her claws.

I work for the Education Department for the Financial Times. Most of the professors I've worked with across the country are now friends ( as I crawl up the chain of command and whatnot to assist the them in anyway possible ). I had this one professor though that was upset that his students were receiving there papers 1-2 days late. I alerted him that since the campus was out of our hand delivery service area....only postal delivery was available (thus the papers being at the mercy of the USPS in that area). I suggested having the students switching to our digital edition that is viewable online. He gave me some sort of lecture for 10 minutes ( in my head it was just blah blah this blah blah that). We couldn't have hand delivery in the area as we didn't have enough delivery volume to warrant us getting a distributor. I offered him everything I could and he still wouldn't let up. In a nicely worded email (after sending me many ) I got fed up and said "If you would like your students to receive hand delivery. I suggest you work for a university that is within our area of hand delivery." I could've suggested working at a university not in the middle of the boondocks...but hey...I like to be nice somtimes.

Dawn of War? Now thats a game I haven't played in ages. It's definitely one of the better RTS games out there. I still haven't had a chance to pick up the expansions - still have fun with just the base game ( though the necrons look sweet ). When I was visiting my ex while she was going to Harvard, I spent much of my time at the Gamesworkshop watching guys play Warhammer and Warhammer 40k on intricately created tabletops. Definitely awesome. I'd have to say Starcraft is my favorite in the RTS genre, but its followed closely by Dawn of War and Rise of Nations. Maybe I'll make my friends get back into it as well.

Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades, from Starcraft is probably the best video game villain. Can't wait to see why kind of mayhem she causes in the sequel.

For the PC, I would have to say Star Craft and it's expansion, Brood War. Definitely the best RTS of all time (Although Rome: Total War rocks out in it's own way). The three races were balanced and the only thing needed to have an upper hand was skill. The story-line for the single player campaign was great. With the announcement of Starcraft 2 ('bout time Blizzard) will dominate it's predecessor. From the 15 or so minute gameplay demo...all you can say is 'Wow!' Knowing Blizzard though...we won't see it until late 2008 or 2009. Console-wise, I would say any game from the Harvest Moon series (aside from Save the Homeland for PS2 - not a true HM game IMHO). My favorites are probably Harvest Moon 64 for the Nintendo 64 and Harvest Moon: Magical Melody for the Gamecube. How great is it to choose between letting your farm rot and working your butt off and making it the star of the town - making friends, winning races, and getting married in the process.

Pro Life or Pro Choice? Mature discussions please
Endymion replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I'm Pro-Life...with some exceptions. In the instance of rape or incest, then abortion is a very logical choice. On the other side of the spectrum though...you have girls that use abortion as a form of contraceptive. Oops...I got pregnant again...abortion time. That is definitely not right, and i've had a pro-choicer try to tell me otherwise. The only other exceptions I would say for an abortion would be 1, it's one of those ladies that pop out another baby every 10 months so they can get another check from the government - I would say such actions would warrant ( I'll probably offend someone with this ) sterilization. You also have the instance when the mother's health is directly affected and will not be able to carry to term. Other than that...it takes two to tango. My ex thought she was pregnant once and though it was a bit of a shock, I was a bit joyed...bought some baby-sized baseball outfits and such. She was happy I was supportive and would be a father. Sadly, she was just late (a few weeks or something...oddly), and she wasn't. Anyway, end of my 2 cents for now... -
Harvest Moon has been probably my favorite game series ever. From SNES to 64, as well as to the PS1 and 2. You also can't forget the gameboys and Gamecube. I've pretty much found every game in the series exceptionally good ( other than Save the Homeland and A Wonderful Life ). The latest installment sets you up in a small town, and depending on your actions can make it grow larger. If you befriend people, they may move into the town and add their own business for you to enjoy. If you ship alot of ore for instance, a blacksmith will move into town, clay? An Artisan. Many of the characters are from the original SNES game as well as Save the Homeland if I remember correctly. You can upgrade your house, build a new one, buy new plots of land(and inside the house you can rearrange furniture). Depending on your choice in the beginning, boy or girl, your rival will be the opposite sex. Either way I believe there are about 10 bachelor/ettes to choose from. Another interesting plus to the game is some multiplayer games are unlockable...I think somewhere between 6-10. My friends and I just played the other night for a solid 2 hours. On another note, the Harvest Goddess is in peril. Due to the lack of faith in nature (and her) she's turned herself to stone. The harvest sprites ask for your aid in an effort to revive her by the collection of magical notes that you'll come across during gameplay. You don't have to really go out of your way for most...for instance the first time you ship a gem from the mine you'll pick one up. If you work all day you'll get another. Working until you collapse will bring about another, and so on. The game wipes the not so great taste StH and AWL left in fans mouths. I would post more but it's time for the Egg Festival :P

Advance Wars is a pretty cool game series. However, with each new game, the CO abilites become more and more crazy. Dual Strike was an alright game, I thought Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2 were superior.
