Name: Hyperion Age: Looks around his 20s Gender: Male Race: Guardian Position: Traitor, Mirichai's right-hand. Appearance: Personality: Though his loyalty is to the traitor, Mirichai, it is his belief that the cause of the traitors is a just one. With the Twilight Spear in their hands, an end to the war can finally be achieved. No truce. No treaty. An end. Hyperion often seems like a rock wall. He has a gentlemanly aura about him. Solid, and unwaivering when it comes to jobs needing done. His voice is soft and is very rarely raised. Mirichai often laughs, but if there is a beautiful woman around, Hyperion, often chokes, though after a moment, he returns to his courteous self. Weapons: "Blade of the Abyss". Hyperion also carries a small, crescent shaped dagger, maybe 6" long. Powers: Though he can use the abilities of fire and light, his proficiencies lie in his ability with ice, and more proficiently, with darkness. It is very rare that he use anything but darkness. Without even the slight of hand, Hyperion can conjure inky black tendrils usually six to eight feet long. On command, the tendrils will either wrap around, or spear whatever he wishes. He also has the ability to darken an area that is mostly covered in darkness, hindering his foes vision. In this summoned darkness, his vision is precise. His strength and stamina could rival that of Mirichai, he is also slightly more agile than the usual Guardian of Darkness. What Hyperion lacks in speed, he makes up in his swordplay. It is said his gift with the sword excels to where most dream about. Character Snippet: I'll take care of this puppy later...

I would hope so. The Warcraft universe is all well and good, but I felt that Warcraft 3 shortchanged the series. Starcraft I felt was better, storyline-wise. I think Blizzard's got the Sony mentality or something. Let's milk something for everything it's possibly worth. 5,000 expansions to everquest, tons of books, etc. I loved Blizzard when it was but a small company, giving us the best RTS games around. Thinking now actually...i don't know if I want a Starcraft 2 from them. Even after delaying WC 3 a few years, the final product needed 5 billion patches(each one made the game progressivly worse anyway, messing around with gameplay, though at least some bugs were addressed.). Starcraft when it came out, was near perfect. Having my friends come over for a SC LAN party rocks. Long live the Queen... Time to go pre-order that book...

Anime Times that you've rooted for the "bad guy"?
Endymion replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
I haven't seen Gundam Wing in ages, but I do remember my favorite character. Treize Kushrenada could probably be considered a "bad guy"...but he's easily the best character in the series. Though not on the side of the protagonists of the series, Treize is nothing short of a hero. He's a gentleman. A man of great passion. A man possesing a loyalty unfazed by death by those who follow him and his ideals. If he'd been the victor in battle, the Gundam Wing world would be a better place. I'd have to think of another "bad guy" to my list, I'll stew my thoughts and edit my post later...ciao. -
No, I think we should take away free speech. We should remove it from our social institutions to protect the offended. Some of those books on witchcraft, like the Harry potter series should totally be banned, they have no merit. I mean, the people in the southern states must have been horribly offended when their black ?neighbors? began demanding some sort of equality? how dare they speak up. How about the Jews? Man, they almost spoke out against the Nazis before the government there took necessary and appropriate measures to keeping their ?free speech? under wraps. Look at Socrates, he was such a terrible person, spreading lies about the Greek gods, corrupting Athens? youth. He was put to death far later than he should have been. And who was that Jesus guy? What was his problem claiming to be the ?Son of God?? In an ideal world, crap like that would be caught by the thought-police. I?ve tried to ignore this thread like the plague, really. This is about to circulate in on itself again. Men and women in the western world recognize certain unalienable rights, and have died for those rights. Our nation was born out of an oppression of free speech in England, a country that burned it?s residents alive for professing a different denomination of the same damn religion. Freedom of speech is a virtue that I justify from a philosophical, rational, and religious perspective. I think the way to solving our problems isn?t by ?quieting? the minority voices. Through understanding and discourse, a common ground can almost always be found; I have that much faith in humanity. People have a right to protest whatever they believe. I have just as much a right to disagree and argue, if I choose. This sort of environment not only enlightens ourselves as a whole, but society has a beautiful tendency for evolving to accommodate the most rational and humane ideas. We are living in a world where we aren?t under a constant threat of tyranny on the same magnitude we?ve experienced? not like the middle ages, renaissance, industrial revolution, or 40?s. I want to know why this Dutch newspaper printed these pictures. I would like to understand what made people so angry about Islam that they would want to print something slanderous. Chances are, there?s a cause and effect lurking behind the scenes. I can empathize with why they might have printed these articles. The militant Islamic radicals in the middle east stormed buildings of innocent people armed to the teeth. The ?terrorists? the U.S. military is fighting are firing from the houses of innocent families, drawing dangerous gunfire to innocent civilians. During the first Gulf War, Sadaam took a well known weapon?s manufacturing plant, removed the weapons, and filled the building with children. The U.S. un aware of this action, bombed the target, killing some 20 children and injuring more. The Muslims fighting against us have no respect for innocent life, choosing to execute their hostages (American soldiers sexually abused theirs in one case, in fairness). They are a people who celebrated in the street as the WTC buildings toppled to the ground, who burn American flags, and bomb civilians in the streets of Israel (a sovereign land recognized by the UN and one that gives the right to vote and serve in parliament to its Palestinian inhabitants). They believe that people should be ?held to the sword?, if they convert they are to live, if they don?t they are to be killed. Yet the Quran also states that there should be ?no compulsion in religion?. Intriguing that the militants ignore the latter. Christians had the brutal crusades, a terrible time in history where they were anything but Christ-like. Militant Muslims have the Jihad. I say ?have? because the religion has spread through North African villages by gun barrel and forced coercion into the fold of Islam. In those nations, people have no freedom to live by any other method of thought or religion. I can understand why some people have a problem with certain groups of Muslims. People have a problem with my religion; Christianity. Some people are sick of being told they will ?go to hell?. Some people are dead tired that so called ?Christians? can hold themselves in lofty moral positions; utterly disregarding the ?judge not lest ye be judged? and ?he who is without sin throw the first stone? principles of the Bible. I understand how much it pisses me off when I hear stories like this, stories of Christians who act as a stumbling block to others. And even though it pains me to say it, I respect everyone?s right to choose to hate and slander against my religion as a result of this pent up anger. If I?ve seen one thing, I?ve seen the power of open dialogue to diffuse even their disdain.
I was avoiding this thread like the plague as well, I was just talking to Goddess about that, heh. You took the words right out of my mouth though Drix. Chabichou, you mentioned something about comparing the anti-jew propaganda and the eventual start of genocide to these danish cartoons? I'm pretty sure no one in their right mind is going to launch a genocidal campaign against muslims. The world frowns upon it, and the last two fellows sticking their hand in the cookie jar...Saddam Hussein and Slabodan Milosevic, were firmly handed their defeats. It's not as if Hitler is pulling the strings of the the non-muslim world, getting ready for his next big fling. Anyway..Sure, the 'toons were of bad taste. However, the muslims reaction to them is also in bad taste.

The game was re-released as a special addition for the PS2. A few of the problems fixed in Another Wonderful Life were put into A Wonderful Life: Special Edition. AWL was a great game and all, but in no way the best in the Harvest Moon series. Harvest Moon 64(I bet you can't guess what system that's for) was my personal favorite. Back to Nature(PSX) and Friends of Mineral Town(GBA) were very similar but equally pleasant to play. I don't have a PS2 anymore, so playing my copy of BtN won't happen in the near future. FoMT is fun though. Save the Homeland for PS2 was probably the worst in the series. It was an okay game, but didn't give you that Harvest Moon feel the rest of the games gave you, though a plus was the graphics were very exceptional. I think there is another HM game coming out for gamecube, as well as ones for DS and PSP. From what I've read about the PSP vers. it seems a little odd.

Lets see...Red Eye and Flightplan. Comparing the two is like comparing cat poop and dog poop on film. Both movies were pretty much predictable. I almost felt compelled enough to ask for my money back from the box office. I rank Red Eye with cinematic filth like Alien Vs. Predator. Flightplan's only saving grace was casting Sean Bean and Peter Sarsgaard and that the movie had the very slightest Hitchcockian feeling. Red Eye would get a lovely 0 stars, and Flightplan would get a 1.5 or 2 out of a possible 5.

Instead of using the username I most commonly use, when I joined OB I figured I needed a change. Enthralled at the time with the Inuyasha universe, I felt that Sesshoumaru and I were most alike. He, being an older brother, and myself one as well. Ever the lover of adjectives tacked on to the front of screennames, I threw Dark in front of the name, and was born DarkSesshoumaru nearly two years ago on OB. I enjoyed the name for awhile, but felt I wasn't myself under something other than my commonly used name. So when name changes were available (for some time they weren't, can't recall the reason). I had my name changed to Endymion. I decided to not tack on my usual adjective, in the mood for the slightest of changes. In elementary, middle, and high schools I was very interested and loved Greek Mythology. In high school, my girlfriend and I would always read different myths to eachother, and we came across the tale of Selene and Endymion. We sort of adopted the names from that point, she was my dear goddess and I was her handsome lover. Selene, the goddess of the moon, fell in love with Endymion, and asked Zeus to grant him eternal life and youth(having seen what happened to her Eos' request). Zeus granted the wish and Endymion was placed in an eternal sleep, smiling, and dreaming of the moon in his arms. Selene had her love for an eternity(and she had 55 daughters from him). I didn't learn, maybe a year later, that Endymion was the name of the prince of the Earth in the Sailor Moon universe. Always liked that series for some reason, at least the first two or three seasons. Endymion was also a character in the Hyperion Cantos book series. It's pretty good though I haven't gotten through all of it yet.

DearS is a great series. I think the series is 12 episodes in length(at least I've seen 12 episodes). The manga series extends the story beyond what the anime got to. I have to wait until April I think for #6 to be released :animecry: . The DearS story revolves around your average, ordinary high school student, Takeya Ikuhara. Insert gorgeous aliens, your landlady's daughter/childhood friend, and secrets and you've got a pretty good story to go along with. I very much enjoy the manga series. I just wish they would release them faster... these 2 month + waits aren't fun. I think I should make a Ren ava/banner set to pass the time... :animedepr

Tenchi Muyo! was a great series. I also enjoyed Tenchi Universe as well, almost just as much. Tenchi in Tokyo fell far below my expectations of the series. The art changed and the plot was less than thin. Of the three movies, I believe the first was the best, followed by the third. The second was alright(better than Tenchi in Tokyo by far), but not as good as the other two series or movies. I'm not sure why everyone loves Ryoko though. I would much prefer to see Tenchi with Ayeka. Once upon a time I was a member of the AFC(Ayeka Fan Club). The pair of Tenchi-based fics I've written were more geared towards a Tenchi-Ayeka ending, but if I remember correctly, one had a happy ending for both girls. Silly time...degrader of memories.

Teens(13-17) voting? Are you crazy? Most teens have more important things(to them at least) to do than put there mind towards politics, competently voting for a candidate that they believe will lead the country better. I wouldn't mind the country raising the age to vote to 20 or 21. I'm sure the only younger folk that would vote, and be politically active, would be those crazy mohawky, punkish and/or hippy 'everything i do is a statement against everything' kids. Of course voting is a right Setting up a political or civic test to be able to vote would probably draw alot of fire from critics. I'd rather have 10,000 politically educated voters vote than 100,000 voters that vote for the candidate with the nicer smile. But hey...one can only hope people choose candidates based on their platforms and their potential leadership leading the country into a 'golden' age. :animesigh

The only time I ever watched UPN was when Enterprise was on. There might have been a show here and there on it that I watched(was 7 Days on UPN?). Other than that, UPN was never one of my television destinations. I could care less about crap like Moesha, and other poor quality programming like that. I've considerably watched WB more. With shows like Smallville, Supernatural and Everwood, it keeps my interest. Those three stick in my head, more than likely there were shows prior to that, but I'm in college so, my short-term/long-term memories are dedicated to information from school that i'll most likely not need in my profession. Instead of a combination of the two, I would've just kept WB. UPN could continue its spiraling downfall of poor programming and disappear into memory. At least WB runs marathons on holidays of the old Twilight Zone. Classics.

I'm not sure about world-wide, but I'm pretty sure, domestically, Narnia surpassed King Kong and did so only a few weeks after Kong's release. The two battled it out for a bit, edging eachother slightly here and there, but Narnia I believe is the victor. I think Narnia was still in the top 10 this last weekend. Can't say I don't believe it, Narnia was superior to King Kong. If I have the cash to spare this weekend...I may as just well see it a sixth time. Can't wait til around May when Narnia should come out on dvd. :D

First off, not to be King Flame or anything, I just want to say alot of the picks people have picked don't make too much sense. I know it's probably hard for angsty preteens to understand some key concepts in films. With a little thought, however, things can become clear. Some posts were weighted, so I was glad to see some sense. Alien vs. Predator is an example of a really horrible movie. Probably one of the worst in recent memory. I was actually glad to hear this movie was coming out. I thought it was going to be based off of the comics though. Instead Hollywood, in its infinite might, decided that a no-plot PG-13 movie would do better in its stead. Silly, I think, how the Alien movie series, and Predators I and II were all R. (In no way am I saying PG-13 movies are bad.) Another great example of wasted film would be Gigli, with Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. This movie doesn't even deserve much said about it. Here are some good descriptions: Horrible, Repulsive, Crap, Junk, Waste-of-time. Dishonorable mentions: Cabin Fever, Anything with Queen Latifah(especially the one with Jimmy Fallon), Triple X 2, House of the Dead, BloodRayne, Intruder, Star Wars Episode I(actually this movie doesn't exist in my mind, maybe one day they'll make an Episode one, but I guess we're stuck with II-VI :D ). I'm not sure why people would consider The Village one of the worst movies ever seen. It's your usual M. Night movie...good plot and nice twist at the end. Might have been over looked by the previously mentioned angsty preteens. Not sure how anyone could hate The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Just can't see the logic in that. The Day After Tomorrow? Please! It's one of Dennis Quaid's better movies. In no way could they be the worst movies ever seen, unless you've lived a very shallow movie life and the only movies you've ever seen were The Empire Strikes Back and The Village, then the Village would be the lesser of the two. They're great movies...so thats the input of my two-cents. I'll probably add some more to this post when I decide to re-read the thread.

Seeing the previews for the last month or two really got me going for the release of the movie. I'd read the books some twelve or so years ago, but I could remember most of the main points of each(actually looked at my favorites at Border's and skimmed through them, which would probably be The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, The Horse and His Boy, and Prince Caspian.) The german bombers in the beginning were a little...bleh. The shadows made more of an impact to me. Other than that I thought the movie rocked. I didn't mind waiting one bit til 10:30, the first non-sold out show. Not that it mattered since I didn't get out of work til 9:30 anyway. The scenery and music of the movie were really good. The battle scene towards the end was thoroughly enjoyable. Lucy I think sorta stole the show during the movie(sorta like Ken Watanabe in The Last Samurai.) Though I think Peter was probably my favorite character...since I could probably relate to him the most. Anyway, out of 10 I'd probably give the movie a 9. Tomorrow after work i think I might see it again. Edit: I missed a final today, professor is letting me retake it on wednesday. What did I do with my free time? I went to the movie theater and saw Narnia again. Why? I needed to. For some reason, the movie fills me with something most movies down have nowadays. Pure, old-fashioned excellence. Saw it, went Christmas shopping, went to work. Then there was a problem. I couldn't go home, brother was awake and I couldn't let him see his handy-dandy new lightsaber, so I decided to see a movie. Rent didn't appeal to me in the slightest. Syriana I could more than likely wait for HBO. There were other movies, but to me it was 'Bleh' reading as the title. One stood out. The movie I'd seen some 10 hours beforehand. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe magic'd another viewing out of me. I'm sure my best bud would punch me in the face for doing it, but it needed to be done. I needed it. If three viewings weren't enough, I'm more than likely going to see it wednesday. My brother hasn't seen it, so I'm going to take him and his friend. Well, I think it's me that wants to see it, taking him is an excuse, but whatever. And remember kiddies.... too much of a good thing rocks your world. Double posting is not allowed. Throughout school and such I was very good friends with many girls but it was never anything serious. I was sort of happy-go-lucky and it was always fun. Though in the beginning of my senior year, I was in Chemistry class with a buddy of mine, and asked who that stunningly attractive girl was that always sat at our lab table with her partner. I caught her glances a few times and she caught mine, but nothing really came out of it. She was in my gym class however, and some of her friends were prior acquaintences of mine, so we all started hanging out. We played tennis, ping pong, and ran the track...normal gym stuff. She started to take an interest in me, as I did in her, and our friends thought it cute. Mid semester, my friend from chemistry, to my suprise asked her on a date. It was just a casual relationship. I had mixed feelings because he and her were my friends, but he knew we sorta liked eachother. As a group we'd all hang out at the local park and play on the tire castle and swings, childish? Maybe. Fun? Very. They seperated because she was going to Harvard come summer. She and I found ourselves alone at the park, and we said some things, and to our delight we were finally together. It was really great, to talk to someone who thought of you just as much. Summer came. She was at Harvard, and not too long in the future I was going to Paris Island. The week before I shipped, I said my good-byes to friends and family at my graduation party, and took the bus to Cambridge to spend that time with her. The trip only took 8 hours. It sort of went by fast since we didnt stop using or cell phones to text eachother til i got there. We had a great week, went to dinner every night, picnics in harvard square, and read Harry Potter to eachother lol. She came with me to the bus station on the 7th day. It was all teary and sad and such, and leaving her left a whole in my heart. I got home late that evening, went to bed, left for bootcamp bright and early the next morning. Can you say fun to the max? Ooooh yeah. What's better than going into the sand pit everyday getting eaten by sand fleas? Getting 2-5 letters from the girlfriend every mail call. I did get others from family, but the ones from her rocked my world and made training that much easier. Training was going great, I was tip top physically and mentally looking forward to graduation. Insert injury. Spent a lil time in the hospital and got a medical discharge. I was sort of depressed by it, but I got a warm welcome by friends and family and I treated them to lunch. We got home, I put on my sneakers an sprinted the 3 miles to my girlfriends house and picked her up in my arms. Everything was super great and happy. Over a year and all we were together. The red string of fate that had enjoyed bringing us together severed somewhere. She'd been cheating on me the last couple months of our relationship, though I didn't find that out until after it was over. It's better to have loved then to not have at all I suppose. Well, the whole story is a lil more complicated than that, but thats a bit of it. Sorry to have tortured your eyes for the last couple minutes of reading

KOTOR was a beautiful game, and probably my favorite rpg for the console. KOTOR 2 was alright, but in no way compared to its predecessor. Alright, enough comparison talk...The ability to make a choice within an rpg is great, choosing whether to do good or evil. Depending on how many choices of each you do, you can be either or neutral. KOTOR I found myself neutral for most of the game but turned to to dark side in the later stages of development. I completed the game and loved it. I didn't have to go out of my way to take the high road and be a pure hero, but it was less fulfilling, and I felt the evil aspect of the game was better. My brother picked up Fable. I got mixed reviews from friends and finally played it. I enjoyed growing up in the game and having most things affect my future. The child and the bully came up, and I couldn't let the child get hurt. I was compelled from that moment in the game I think to do good.
Though in the arena...I did kill whisper as she annoyed me the whole game...
My brother thinks he's a dark sort of person on the other hand, helped beat up the kid, and went out of his way to do wrong deeds. He grew horns, had flies around him, etc.
When the choice came up to either kill his own sister and get ultimate power or throw the dangerous power into the abyss...he struck her down.
After playing most of the game and not getting to that point, and not riding that path, I was like "Oh, no!" I told him I would take my blade and strike him down for doing it, but then he pointed out that he had the ultimate sword and could easily take me down. I guess it depends on the game. KOTOR...feelings, passion, the dark side for me. Fable... Fear not citizens, for I shall bring justice to the land!

If someone gave you $1,000,000 what would you do with it?
Endymion replied to a topic in General Discussion
$1,000,000 is quite a bit of money. I would first pay off my car, and finish my parents' house's construction. I would also pay for my sister's schooling to be an Obstetrician or something like that(after she finishes her degree at the French Culinary Institute). I'd invest a good amount, maybe 50k, for my brother when he's ready for college. Might put the rest in an off-shore account, since the FDIC only ensures up to 100k. The interest off of whatever's left would be a nice addition to my normal bank account. -
I'm not entirely sure an Asuka vs. Lucy/Nyu Tournament would be viable since everyone and their mother has seen Evangelion and only a fraction of that have seen Elfen Lied, but regardless of that, I threw my lot in for Lucy/Nyu. Sure I found Asuka a little cute, and her arrogance was almost charming to me, but overall as a character I found her sub-par. On the other hand Lucy and Nyu were excellent characters by far. Beautiful. Deadly. Cute. Childish. Lucy was equally as loveable as Nyu
Though Lucy tearing Nana's limbs off was a bit much, I could understand being a bit cold after being couped up in a lab most of my life and the traumatization of the puppy incident. Felt bad for Nana, but I like Lucy more anyway...
Nyu's child-like behavior and love for Kouta was sweet and fun to watch. The bottom line - Lucy/Nyu > Asuka

Baltar I guess is coming to terms with Number Six plagueing his thoughts the whole time. I wonder what his agenda will be in the coming season. I actually watched the season finale twice, the first time around I missed the first 15 minutes, which made me confused the first time around. The second time, watching it in its completeness cleared the things I was confused about up. I always find Baltar's interactions with Number Six funny. Baltar has a certain magnetism to him.
The funniest scene though must've been when he was with Starbuck and she called out Lee's name.
I much prefer this series to the original actually. I mean, not just because of better effects and all. I find the storyline better, and the characters great(though the original Starbuck and Apollo kicked butt). Feel the same way about Sci-Fi's Dune vs. the original. Sci-fi's was alot closer to the book. Anyway, the new Battlestar Galactica is awesome. July is far though...time to to watch re-runs upon re-runs....SWEET!

Tonight was the season finale of Battlestar Galactica. I must say it was the best episode yet, I can't wait for the second season to start in July. The series was great from the start of the mini-series to now. Though Starbuck and Boomer were males in the original series, the new female characters are most enjoyable. Edward James Olmos I think was perfect for Commander Adama. The storyline is very intriguing. I've actually seen most of the original series, and though alright, it had a couple major disappointments
1) Starbuck is marooned, wtf, he kicked ***. 2) The ragtag fleet makes it to Earth, only to find it in 'our' time, to the series, 1970's Earth...i was like 'wtf' and my dad concurred
. The season finale totally rocked my sci-fi loving world. The plot was great and every scene was masterfully done.
Lee putting the gun to Tigh's head, was suprising, but not as much as Boomer shooting Commander Adama twice as he congratulated her on the high-risk, cylon basestar destroying mission. My dad thought Boomer had 'broken' through her programming, but he was wrong, and I loved the scene. The fight between Number Six and Starbuck was pretty cool though.
