Extreme Music
Yeah, San Diego is an especially connected scene if you ask me. Everyone knows everyone for the most part, we all go to the same shows, it's all just good times. I like making new friends in the pit, haha. Like, whenever a band finishes a song, I like walking around talking to random kids and what-not. It's cool, cause if s**t happens to go down, you have a new friend to have your back, hahahaha. Just curious, how did everyone start to get into their extreme music genre? Ha, if that doesn't make sense, what bands/genre eventually led you to enjoy the genre of music you're really into now?
I'm the same way. I've met alot of cool peeps from going to shows and them complimenting me on my throwdown (being a Tae Kwon Do black belt, my flying spin kicks tend to look better and are usually more deadly than others). A lot of really cool people. If I ever get a band started, they'll be there, I already have people who'll check it out, heh. As for how I got into it. It started out slowly, I guess. I'm a late bloomer when it comes to the genre. Before these days, up until I was, say... 16, the heaviest band I listened to was probably Linkin Park. I was actually (and still am) very much into Hip Hop as a genre and that comprised of about 90% of what I listen to, and everthing else like good Punk and what not was the other 10%. Then I slowly started to be introduced by my friends (this was a small town, mind you) to heavier bands like Shadows Fall and Avenged Sevenfold. I became a big fan of the second, and I maintained that for a while. After I moved to where I live now, I started to get more into strict metalcore, and found how much I liked the heaviness of All That Remains, finding that they basically took what I like from A7X and just amplifying it. I started meeting some people who were deeper into the extreme scene localy as I made friends, who listened to the genre almost exclusively. Lots of Job for a Cowboy, Killswitch Engage and The Black Dahlia Murder. At first, when shown this, I was repulsed, mostly by the pig-squeal lyrics or black metal screeches. Then I heard the song "The Weak Willed" by All That Remains, the heaviest song yet recorded by the band, and I fell in love with it. Shortly after, my best friend's myspace profile became "Bow Down" by Born of Osiris, a band lacking pig squeals that stuck with primarily mid-gutturals. I loved it, though not at first, and the more and more I heard, the more I started to like them. BOO replaced ATR as my heaviest band, and after that, I realized there was no return. My buddy prior to this had told me (he's a guitarist in the genre, and we are now trying to form a band) that once you catch the ear for it, you just keep getting heavier, and heavier, and heavier. Every time you think "Oh, I'm done, it can't be any heavier without being bad" you find a new band that's heavier that you like. And he was completely right. I've gone from modern heavy metal and now I've stopped just behind porngrind. I'm a big fan of American Black Metal, grindcore, death metal, and especially, deathcore. I think one of the main reasons I loved the scene so much and a big catalyst for me getting into it was going to my first show and see all the crazy energy that just vibrated through the room. I'd been to the same establishment, rapping with a different band whom were an Indie Pop group. But with a deathcore group on stage it was just completely different. People were head banging, jumping, screaming, and throwing down, which I was instantly in love with. I found that deathcore, hardcore, grindcore is the only musical genre that you can dance to, and that's something I loved to do in my Hip Hop phase (and I still do it). Being a martial artist, it came very naturaly to me, and I love it. To this day, there's rarely something I'd rather go do than go to a show. It's just so much fun, and its exciting. It's rare when I can say "Dude, I totally owned a guy with a flying 360 hook kick". Good times, and usually those guys are my buddies after the show. Its just so heavy and aggressive, the music I mean, that it just hits you and flows through you. It's like a drug you can't get enough of. Once you feel it, every other genre sounds kinda limp in comparison. Though I'm still a fan of everything else, Deathcore (and related genres) has basically taken up about 45% of what I listen to now a days. The other 45% is Hip Hop, and the 10% is everything else. In the past months, I've started to learn how to scream/growl and I plan on being a vocalist very soon. I just love the stuff, and I want to be a part of it, to be the one who makes that aggressive energy come out of myself and others, and be the one who makes people go crazy in the pit. But also just to express my own turn on the typical deathcore lyrical and vocal style. So yeah, that's how I came into it. I've come from Avenged Sevenfold to All That Remains to Born of Osiris. And now I'm listening to stuff like Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizen, Whitechapel, Carnifex, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

    Wanted
Wait, so, a male with dark shag hair is the same as a male with blonde Eminem hair? Huh. I was way off, I guess. Either way, I'm jaded and I'll probably never ever like that movie.
While I still haven't seen the film, from what I've seen of screen shots and my understanding, I have to agree. Wanted was one of my favorite comic books/graphic novels ever, and the main character in the source material had blue yes, short-cut blonde hair (though to be honest, he did have some weird Kid 'n' Play dread-top going on for a minute in the first issue), and also he was significantly buffer. I mean, damn, the actual Eminem is buffer than that guy. I think he could've pulled the role, he did descent enough in 8 Mile. In fact, he probably would've been perfect for it. And yes, I to am dissapointed that one of the hottest black chicks in comics was turned into Angelina Jolie (she may be hot, but Halle Berry definetly belongs in this role, it was MADE for her, pretty much. Jolie can have Catwoman).
Zen, have you taken a listen to their new stuff? Hah, you named songs from "The Somatic Defilement." I'm talking about "This Is Exile." OHMYGAWD. And here I thought the songs from "The Somatic Defilement" were brutal, heavy, and awesome. Seriously, please listen to anything from "This Is Exile," haha. FANTASTIC stuff. And Suicide Silence is awesomeee. I actually know and talk to everyone regularly. They're from San Diego county, I knew them before they were big haha. Mitch Lucker has one of the most incredibly insane vocals in all of metal, in my opinion. He's really laidback though, really nice guy too.
Mmmm. Just gave a few tracks a listen and you are correct sir. "This is Exile" the song, is pretty bad ***. I think I recognize it from their set list actually. B-A. I like the distortion effects mid-song also, that's a nice touch. And the breakdowns I'm hearing are sick. That guys vocals are pretty nice. Damn. It's pretty odd how pretty much all the death/hardcore fans in this thread are connected closely to their local scene, huh?
ZOMFGSAUCE. Has anyone taken a listen to Whitechapel's new full-length cd "This Is Exile"? Seriously, any fans of the Deathcore genre, Whitechapel themselves, great breakdowns, and just complete insanity NEEDS to listen to this asap and talk about it with me on here, hahaha.
Of COURSE I've listened to Whitechapel! I actually heard about them BEFORE I got into my full deathcore fandom. My favorite song is definetly "Ear to Ear", and I'm also a fan of "Vicer Excisor". Brutal lyrics and guitar work. They're a great band. They were the first band to play on my leg of Slaughter Tour and I was instantly throwing down. Southern Deathcore at its finest. On a related note (i.e. Slaughter Tour UK), has anyone heard "The Cleansing" by Suicide Silence? I've been a fan of theirs for a bit now, but I haven't heard many people mention them here. I love their work, especially the song "Bludgeoned To Death" and "Unanswered". Their lyrics usually dwell in between nihilistic and hateful rage, and it is delivered viciously by their vocalist Mitch. Not to mention their brutal breakdowns and guitar work. It's great. While listening to "Bludgeoned To Death", I pretty much feel like punting a cedar block through someone's chest. Brutal stuff.
  5. I'm filling in some old recommendations or rewatching a few classics. I picked up the full series of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gunslinger Girl on DVD, and I'm enjoying both quite a bit. My good friend also let me borrow his Elfen Lied box set recently. I've only seen the first half of the first episode, but it seemed brutal... I mean, cool enough, so yeah. I still get kicks from where Lucy telepathically punched man's heart out of his chest. That was prett kickin'. I hope there's more of that.
  6. Well, thanks you guys. Again, it was my first time ever messing with voice-acting, video-editing, and abridging in general. Here's Episode 2. I think it's a bit better.
  7. Speaking of abridged series... looks what I mades... (note, adult language is prevalent). Episode 2 is done, but was messed up due to the video quality being screwed up so I must re-edit.
  8. I kind of made this. Inspired by all the other anime abridged series out like Yu-Gi-Oh, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Naruto. I decided to start my own and see how it did. I'm a big noob at the whole voice acting and video editing thing, but I'm giving it a go, I can only get better, since I'm so bad, haha. Tell me what you guys think: Yes, I know I'm terrible at female voices.
  9.
nice, but i dont think that holds a candle to Hijirime Minase from Descendants of Darkness, playing the Devils Trill Movement on a violin
Screw all that violin non-sense. It's all about the cello, baby. I think this piece is called "Through The Fire And Flames". Or was it "I'll decapitate you with my cello case if you mess with Saya #6" by Bach?
  10. Blasphemy! I refuse to believe that Bandit Keith is anything but the utmost of American! Anyways, I hung with the family, grilled out, saw a few fireworks, though not many... also I got some poppers for my little brother. It was alright day, though, not the most spectacular of American Birthdays for me. However, Glory to America! Greatest Country in the entire universe, even that really American one behind Pluto.

    Extreme Music

So anyways, yesterday was Summer Slaughter, and I got face-f***ed by the brutality of that concert. Born of Osiris DESTROYED the house, literally. During "Bow Down" we had a little sing-along that nearly killed the entire first row, which immediately turned into me breaking people down in the throw down circle. It was beautiful. During the Faceless set, right as they started, an avalanche (literally) of bodies smashed against the stage like a tidal wave. I ended up crowd surfing twice and shaking hands with the vocalist. Despised Icon smashed as well, and I got one of their shirts. I also ended up smashing some people in the pit then as well. That and Tales of the Black Freighter. White Chapel was crazy amazing, and that was my first pit of the day also. Goodness, was it a great time. Unfortunately, we left before Black Dahlia due to the venue not allowing people to leave and return, and charging two dollars cash for simple water (I had to spend all my cash getting my friend in, leaving only debit card, which those pricks did not accept). Still, it was an amazing experience, and by leaving, I probably avoided my death by dehydration/crushing. Amazing.
  13. Too bad you'll never have Daddy's love... loser. I suppose he'll go kill himself now, emo boy.

  15. Ah, but Champloo has it all. Its eccentric, its stylish, its graffiti-based eye candy animation, and its just straight up cool.
  16. I like my men manly, and they don't get much more manly than Hercule. What can I say? I have a dude-crush.
  17. Uhm... there's four kinds of love to me as well. There's... da butt... da mouth... Ugh, da hand, and.... oh wait. We're talkin' emotional love, aren't we? For me, love is the universal truth, the solution to conflict. Love is when you put another person's needs, or feelings, before your own. Love for me is sacrafice, and improvement. You'll make yourself a better person for the ones you love, and you'll sacrafice things that you'd normally do in your life in order to spend time with or appease the ones you love. However, if you actually love that person, you'd want to do said things, so it wouldn't really be a sacrafice. It'd just be a choice. That's my take on it. P.S. - (Watch the film "The Ladies Man" and your question will be answered).
  18. Running... panting.... I heaved hard while I stumbled my way home, still bleeding from the several bullet wounds left in my side and hip. I was alive though, and I was lucky. I can't say the same for J.R. and Eric though. They got it, they got it good, but I dunno from who... who would do something like that? More importantly why? These motherfuckers weren't young enough to be pushing on blocks like ours, they didn't wear any colors, and they didn't wear any cop uniforms either. Who could it be then? Mafia? I didn't know. I was bleeding to much to think straight while I half-ran, half-limped to my home. Oh, but I wasn't running away, nah, I was retreating. I hit one of those fuckers hard, on good one, put his head into a wall with a kick. He might be dead, he was bleeding enough. And his other homie caught a broke knee from a stomp kick, but the prick shot me all up while he was on the ground. Then a couple other suits came around the corner, packin' also. JR had taken one in the dome from the first asshole. Eric, man... Eric got all fucked up, bled out while screamin'. I don't know who those motherfuckers were, but something told me they weren't gonna stop lookin' for me. But I wouldn't be hidin' neither. Nah, no one fucks with me. No ONE! I'll figure out who they hell they were, cut out their fucking tongues thats what I'm gonna do. Fuck I'm dizzy... But I'm almost there. Damn it, those assholes fucked up my favorite pair of pants, god damn it. And my shoes man, these shits were new... Ugh. Man, why am I thinking about this... Fuck, I forgot I got stairs... these are gonna be a bitch to climb. I might have to crawl... Almost up, one at a time, come on. Good thing we live on the second floor. I crawled up to the door, and stood up real careful. I turned the handle, but the door was locked. I knocked once. Shit, what's D'Ann gonna think? She'll be pissed, that's for sure.... Shit, D'Ann! What's gonna happen if they come looking for me and find her? I can't stay here! I gotta leave, gotta stay somewhere else... but where? I... man, I'm dizzy. I think I'll just... rest. *thunk* "Michael? MICHAEL?!" I think I hear D'Ann... I wish she would shut up... so loud.
