I just went to Books-A-Million today for the super sweet sale they were having and picked up three books. First, which I have finished already, is the second volume Battle Royale: Ultimate Edition hardcover manga. Good stuff, unfortunately I thought it was the first, so now I have to buy that one and then the third. Now I'm working my way through a very interesting book (atleast to me) by Sam Sheridan called A Fighter's Heart. It is non-fiction and semi-autobiographical. It covers the reporter's experiences in the world of professional fighting (i.e. Muay Thai kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts, etc) as he experiences it first hand. Where I am right now, which is the beginning, he has just left his job as a Yacht hand (he spent time in the Merchant Navy) and has left to Thailand, where he has enrolled in the Fairtex training center in Bangkok. I also picked up a small philosophy book from Shambhala (my favorite eastern philosophy publishing company) called "The Sacred Path of the Warrior". Its by a mediation master and teacher named Chogyam Trungpa. It details the paths taken by the eastern warrior's of the past and the philosophical guidelines they live their lives by. Good stuff, need to start on it soon
I've been going through my "I'm going to listen to All Shall Perish non-stop while I'm drivin my car around" phase. haha They're building up so much for that CD, ughhhh, I can't wait. ha Lucky! Haha, Summer Slaughter won't be in San Diego for another month and a half or so. I'm excited for it, but I'll wait. Zen, how many people are you going with? On a side-note, is anyone going to Warped Tour? There are actually a few bands I really like who are gonna be playing, so I'm seriously considering attending the San Diego date.
See, I just got over my "Bring Me The Horizon" and "Born of Osiris" phase myself. I JUST got back into listening to hip hop and dance music thanks to Michael Jackson and Zapp and Roger (America's Best Dance Crew = win). Sucks for you. I'm going on the 30th with about 6 or 7 people I think. Those guys from Tales of the Black Freighter are playing and I might, MIGHT get to meet some people. Maybe. I plan on going to Warped Tour once I figure out the dates for my area. I hear tell that Bring Me The Horizon are gonna be playing, and if that is so, then the ticket is worth that alone. What all bands are supposed to be rolling, do you know?

I like your first two reproductions, but you should work on your proportions and shading on the last few. Also I'd like to see some original work, ya know? I love Kishimoto and Kubo, but I want to see Neptune. Still, you're on a good path.
-
Hmm. Well, I'd say since you are going for a more realistic approach to focus greatly on practicing by reproducing photos as closely as you can, and often. Also focus on your shading. However, I do like your attention to features on individuals. None of your subjects look alike, which means that you are good at highlighting peoples' defining characteristics. Just keep practicing.
...Prick Wizard?! :o
Mooohahaha, that's exactly what I was thinking.... Hm. Prick Wizard. Needle Hobbit? Conspiracy!

I'd say this. Your art needs improvements. I'm not saying you are horrible, but you need to work towards making yo.ur characters more anatomicaly correct and equalizing your features. Really, this can only come from practice, practice, practice. Don't copy, but imitate, other art styles that you see in order to find one that works for you, and then strive to make that style your own by moving towards a more original style. Particularly, as you said, your bodies. Just practice, and take more time drawing them. The longer you spend on a piece, typically, the better it will be. And by practicing, you'll be able to do things faster. How long have you been drawing, exactly? Atleast, in this style.
I'm the complete opposite lol. While I don't mind the whole "emotional" concept, I really don't care to see it either. I like all the fancy explosion and detailed explanations. (I blame Aizen for that) As for the chapter itself. It was "meh" at best. Do I agree with Naruto lashing out? "shrugs" It's Naruto.. I've already stated my case against him so many times now lol. I know they're killing me with the stalling, though. I want to know Pein/Pain's secret. All this other stuff don't matter.
Don't get me wrong, my favorite part of Naruto is the fighting and plot twists, its just that I hate when they spend an entire three chapters getting ready for things to go down, or when they spend four pages giving a diagram of the exact chakra distributions of how a person's jutsu works. Though I do like the explanations of strategies, like with Shikamaru. I suppose I'm conflicted, but I definetly do appreciate it when the characters are humanized and deal with real-people problems once in a while, rather than "Ohmegosh Orichimarusgonnakillthevillage, ARGH!!!" Ya know?

I dunno why, but I'm a fan of out of place captions... so here's mine.: "Never Forget"

You know, I like Naruto as a whole better when the characters show some real emotions once in a while. The last few chapters have been pretty good on that ground. I'm tired of all the exposition and detailed explanations of how people's moves work. Still with the exception of the latest, the past chapters sucked on about everything else. Sasuke, Naruto, and Shikamaru have all basically lost the most important people in their lives in succession if you look at it. Now all that's left is for Gai to die and all my favorite characters will have officially 'grown up'. Seriously Lee... new haricut... please.... Once Gai is dead, oh how awesome you will be. Also, Shikamaru and Temari need to freaking hook-up. Naruto would be greatly improved by some good ol' fashion teen love. Don't hate me for saying that... please.... But it would instantly improve the plot. I'm telling you. And lol at Lunox.
THIS THREAD SHALL NOT DIE. Anyone into All Shall Perish? I can't wait for their new CD to come out. This is a quote I got from one of their blogs: hahaha, their last CD was already WAY heavy and cutting edge! This is gonna be beyond brutal, I can't wait hah. The breakdowns better sound good too, or I'll punch them all in the teeth. I don't doubt they will though. ;D!
Thank you for the save, booth. Yeah, I have several of their songs on my Zune and on a CD. They are one of the better Deathcore/Death Metal acts around. Definetly "prime" stuff. I need to start actually listening to them more, but I'm so busy warming myself up for Slaughter Tour that I just don't have the time. On that note, I just bought my ticket a week ago. It's gonna be great! Just ten more days!!!

Ramen Noodles. Quick, easy, tasty, hot. Good stuff. Cold Pizza, the king of all breakfasts. Cereal. It's there, and its easy. IFI have milk, and IF we have any that I like. Three-berry bagel, the only bagel that I'll eat. Sometimes I might suprise myself with eggs or a waffle if I have the time to prepare it. But usually I don't, or we just don't have any in the house.
Oh, you mean like back when members weren't thrown out the airlock for not having posts that were literary masterpieces? Back when some degree of lolspeak was permissible because the majority still thought it was cool? Back when there weren't half a dozen antediluvian members present who seemed to find it perforce to flaunt their longevity and perceived skill given the remotest hint of an opportunity, as if it were somehow indicative of rank? Ah. You mean back when this forum wasn't a gathering place for the pretentious. Yes. I'm sure you miss it. Don't we all.
Yeah, I do miss that time. But that time was before your join date, as I can see. Maybe I'm wrong, but I joined in 2003, three years before you did. I'm not being confrontational, but the time I'm talking about was around '03-'06. And how else is rank given than through skill and seniority? But hey, I'm not saying anything about you personally, you're a great member, and I admire you. I'm just saying, don't be so harsh on what some of us agree on as the "golden days". Maybe it can come back, if a little more enthusiasm from the members comes about. I have a few ideas I'd like to implement (no, not banning or higher standards) that I think would help out a little. I'd like to start carrying said things out, but some those ideas I think mods should be in charge of, or atleast help with.

- A man's head will literally explode if you kick them hard enough, or suplex them. - Resident Evil 4 - Buildings are capable of regenerating direct bullet and explosives damage given a few seconds. And all glass is bullet-proof. - Call of Duty 4 - Being shot in the foot is just as fatal as a direct torso shot. - Call of Duty 4 - If you are directly hit by a landmine, grenade, rocket launcher, or any other local explosives device, you can easily tend the wound with a little ointment and some gauze. But falling from a tree is fatal. - Metal Gear Solid 3 - You never need to speak. People will just assume you are talking to them if you poke them or stand there for long enough. - The Legend of Zelda - Lifting your guitar vertically at the appropriate time transfers into you being a better musician. - Guitar Hero - Human bodies are capable of sustaining multiple stab wounds and lacerations from enormous bladed weapons while still performing at optimum output. - Soul Calibur - A ninja can deflect bullets from a machine gun with a sword, but if you try to punch or wrestle him, he is easily defeated. Said ninjas can also support a walking tank's weight on his back. But your punches are still capable of hurting him. It's gotta be the mullet. - Metal Gear Solid - Bisexual men are the most evil people on Earth. - Metal Gear Solid 3 - Nothing. - Metal Gear Solid 2 - Old people are sustained by photosynthesis. - Metal Gear Solid 3 - You may be able to survive a genetic super virus and multiple cases of electric shock torture, but you can't hold a sneeze. - Metal Gear Solid - Cardboard boxes are a henchman's kryptonite. - Metal Gear Solid - Dry ramen noodles are like a porterhouse steak to a super-spy. - Metal Gear Solid 3 - Telepaths can discern valuable information from your mind, like what video games you like to play. But only if they were made by Nintendo or Konami. They can also be fooled if you're second player. - Metal Gear Solid - Time will stop long enough for you to change camoflauge in-field. - Metal Gear Solid 3

- That small, pre-pubescent girls are just as formidable in combat as seasoned war veterans. - That it takes approximately thirty rounds of fifty calibur ammo from an automatic large machine to kill a man. Or two in the head. - Teenage male characters accompanied by attractive young women will never attempt to have sex, ever. No matter how long the journey or how long its been since they last masturbated. - Demon > human. Half-demon > demon. Human > half-demon. - Random animals always carry valuable items such as gold, potions, and other things. These things are dropped when killed, therefore justifying animal cruelty. - Cockfights and dog fights would be allowed if they shot lightning or fire. In fact, they would be endorsed as a national past time.
