Mikhali could hear the ocean as he approached the docks. His Uncle Stelio?s ship was both a fishing barge and their home. Space on the docks was expensive for Greeks, and they could not afford both dock-taxes and a home to live in. Leaping onto the boat?s wooden deck, he landed silently and continued below-deck through a door which hung loosely on its hinges. The interior smelled of salt water and musk. Luckily the scent of fish had faded with the export of the daily catch. Mikhali could hear Stelio?s loud snore booming from his room. It?d been a tiring day for his uncle, and he praised God that he was asleep. It would make leaving all the easier. Quietly going into his own small room, Mikhali began gathering several different paints and ropes into his already occupied bag. He wanted a bright piece to flair out in the morning. He turned back and tip-toed out of his room and through the inner-deck, trying his best to avoid squeaking boards. Placing his hand on the door-knob, he looked back to his hard-worked uncle and nodded. He then opened the door and made his way out into the Rethymno streets. As much as Mikhali wanted to further insult his former employer, he wanted to go bigger with his piece this evening. Bigger than he?d ever gone before? Navigating through the cobble-stone streets and allies, he made his way on foot to the center plaza of the city. The heart of the coast town, the central plaza acted as an intersection for all the major streets in the town, and literally hundreds to thousands of individuals passed through it every day. It was here that the Ottoman Central Court was located. The largest municipal building the city had, it was here that the ruling part often met. It was the control center of the Ottoman government in Rethymno, where the governor and nobles did their business. It was there that Mikhali decided he would make his mark? Midnight neared, and the city?s police force was beginning to thin out. It was the perfect time to act. Running through the allies of the Central Plaza, Mikhali tied his bag around his waist with the help of a torn-clothe belt and carefully climbed a safety ladder up the side of an adjacent building to the Court. The only thing separating him and his target now was a large gap between the building he stood on top of and the Court. Looking around his surroundings, he made sure no one was watching before he threw his sack across the gap. Then stepping back a few feet, he ran quickly across the rooftop and took a great leap across the gap, landing firmly on the roof of the court before tucking into a silent roll and stopping. Looking over the edge of the Court, he checked for guards and police once again, and saw none. He then turned to the great dome that acted as the roof of the Court and smiled. It was serve him well as a canvas. Reaching into his bag, he poured out bright-green paint onto his trey and picked up a brush. It was time to get back?

Sarutobi Sasuke Sitting beneath a large oak tree, Sasuke looked into his own glinting reflection in the metal-plate of his headband. Looking into reddish-brown eyes, he pushed back a lock of his dark brown hair coming across his forehead. The black silk of this new badge of adulthood flowed through his fingers as he contemplated this new step in his life. He’d been given a proud nod and smile from his father before the legendary man left. Sasuke could not blame him for his briefness, for he was an important man, and he had important matters to attend to. This was the price of being the Third Hokage. Sasuke searched his mind and heart for the excited feeling that he saw on the faces of his class mates. However, he could only feel a sense of dull complicity. He was of Sarutobi-heritage. Graduating the Academy hardly counted as an accomplishment, it was expected of him. Maybe had the final exam been more challenging he’d have a higher sense of accomplishment. However, he ran the same drill with his father many times before. The Professor’s son defeated all five shadow clones with relative ease. Again, such things were expected from a Sarutobi. He didn’t even have to rely on Ninjutsu, defeating his teacher’s clones with nothing more than his Wooden-Monkey Taijutsu. But a sliver of the actual family Taijutsu style. After reflecting on the ordeal, he summarily tied the headband around his neck and let it hang loosely on his clavicle. Taking a deep breath, he stood quickly and made his way to the Takeda Sushi stand. He figured he would, at the very least, attempt a small celebration for his achievement.

Would it be allowed to have a character who is a career athlete in a combat-sport style arena? I was thinking of creating a character who is a champion savate-boxer and wrestler, maybe as an Almagest family star-athlete. Since there is that whole monster-battle arena, would it be alright to have a venue for human fighters also (not to the death)? I was thinking it'd be interesting to have a David Beckham-style super star athelete in the Almagest family to play a type of celebrity.
I'm not sure if I'd call Cowboy Bebop cyberpunk at all, but I'm pretty familiar with it - it's one of the regular series here.
Well, since one main character is a Cyborg, one is a pre-teen hacking genius, and they all have a pet 'data'-dog, I thought it kinda counted. On Wiki, it's classified as Sci-Fi and Space Western, but yeah. Try Outlaw Star, I think that fits the bill a little closer. Kinda like Bebop, but with more technology and weirder space-ships.

I don't know how popular it is in Australia, but a big one in America is Cowboy Bebop which is pretty awesome. Great music, blending the adventures of a rag-tag group of space bounty hunters with Jazz music. Starring a grizzled cop, a sex-pot gambler, and a Bruce Lee-esque ex-mobster. The show's mostly episodic (though done pretty well), but several episodes dispersed through out deal with the main-characters' pasts. The show's overall theme is how it's hard to run from past problems, but you usually find happiness after confronting them. Even the self-contained episodes share the same theme usually. All of the episodes have a rather interesting and deep story line, so most of them are worth watching, even just for entertainment value (see episode "Cowboy Funk"). One of my favorite series, ever. I'd give a look into Eureka Seven if you like fun music and brightly colored, smooth animation. And mecha, lots of mecha. I love the show, its art and music style, and overall theme. Its kinda like a hippie take on Cyberpunk/Giant Robot shows. I liked it. Kikkaider is by the same people who did Cyborg 009 with the exact same art-style and a slightly different message. Despite the old-school, Astro Boy/Metropolis art style, I liked the series a good bit. Its designs were a bit strange, but once you got past it, the Pinochio-like theme was kind of poignant. I would suggest Mobile Suit Gundam: 008th MS Team and 0080 War in a Pocket, but I'm not sure how much they fit the Cyberpunk theme. They're both very realistic with the technology, and brutal. While it plays on Giant robots, being Gundam and all, the real story revolves around the characters and the technology all looks like it works. Both have a very poignant story about how war effects different people, all in negative ways. Thats all I can think of right now.

As Jiraiya's ninjutsu becomes increasingly strange and confusing, we still havn't got to the point of just what Pein's eye technique does. I love Naruto and Kishimoto, but sometimes I really wish we could just get to the point and stop drawing everything out so much. Jiraiya is one of my least favorite characters and for the past eight or nine chapters we've seen nothing but Jiraiya. Really can't wait for the end of this little battle so we can see how the rest of the crew is doing.

Well I came onto the thread when it was one of the top five, so I thought it was fairly new. I'll give you that, the Bills are looking better now from what I hear. However, the Pats have beaten them like the last five or six times they've played and the Pats are looking the best they ever have this season. I just think it's unlikely that they'll lose this time, coming off a by-week and one of their greatest victories to date. I'm definetly watching the game, anyways, haha.
Looks like someone got a crash cart for this thread. :animesmil Well the Bills have now won their last four games and seem to be on a winning streak. Their next game is going to be broadcast nationwide tomorrow night (I think they're playing the Patriots, but I've been working nearly non-stop since the twenty-ninth so I'm not too sure.) I did hear on one sport's program that the undefeated Patriots may have a run for their money and should watch out for the Bills who are finally getting their act together.
Don't know what you meant by crash cart, but lets get something clear. The New England Patriots beat TWO, count 'em, TWO undefeated teams and are now the only undefeated NFL team in the league. Should they continue this way, they could be the second team in history do have had a perfect season. They destroyed the Cowboys at Dallas, and broke the spirit of the Colts so badly that they were humiliated by the Chargers in the first half and were eventually defeated. I'd like to think that the Patriots are justifiably the best NFL team within this decade. And I've been behind them the whole time, so yeah. Go PATS!

Murs Song: Better Than The Best. One of the better lyricsts I've heard in a while, Murs is an underground MC from the west-side. On this track, one of the dopest beats I've ever heard, a helium-fast forward sample from "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" is used to create a beat where Murs can tell you how much better he is than you and every other rapper in the game. You'll believe him after lines like "I only travel in positive circles like a round of appluase/". Win. Hieroglyphics Song: Off The Record The Hieroglyphics are like the hippie Wu-Tang Clan from the West Coast. On this track is featured Casual, A-Plus, Del The Funkee Homosapien, and Tajai. Rhyming super-smooth lines over a snappy jazz beat that could easily be performed with a band, this song includes on of my favorite verses of all time, courtesy of A-Plus: "A to the Plus Plus to ya, bust through, defense with lyrics, mentally muscular..." Ill.
10 miles wide, one inch deep (You get boosted an extra 9 miles, congratulations). Your opinion is best applied to mainstream rap, and according to most people 'in the know' and who are 'crazy cool to the max' mainstream music usually consists of what is marketable to the broadest audience possible. The independent, underground rappers that exist in the United States and the United Kingdom (primarily) rap on a wide variety of issues that touch political, religious, socioeconomic, and philosophical topics. Rap music is a very broad field of sounds and messages. What is popular is unfortunate, but it is simply popular. So asterisk yourself and make the necessary addition of "mainstream" before "rap".
You just went up in my cool book for that one. Now that I've started attending a much larger school, I've seen the formation of the seperate cliques, though they don't much apply to me. Like I've always been, I'm a bit of a social chameleon and hang out with anyone I really feel like. Today, for example, I hung out at lunch time with a hardcore gamer, because the two people I usually hang with were gone. My ex-girlfriend was skipping school, and my indie-rock musician/skater bud was bed-ridden from an operation. Later on that day, I went to my wrestling scrimmage with all the supposed "jocks" who are all pretty fun guys once you get to know them. After that, I went to my Metal-head/Gamer friend Trey's house for some Halo 3. There are several cliques, and there is a bit of intermingeling. I happen to thrive on that, as I don't have a very concrete group that I can fit into. So I just go from friend to friend in each group and say whats up, hang out for a bit, do whatever. I have a circle of close friends that I keep, and they are mostly in seperate social groups, but they get along seeing as how they all have similar base personalities. I havn't had many issues in my school career with ridicule due to cliques or whatever. The only problems I've had thus far have to do primarily with race and racism, since I live in the American south. I've had to deal with crap due to interracial dating and due to racial slurs thrown at either me or my friends. Thats a completely different issue, however. Sometimes I think either I'm just a lucky guy or maybe this whole clique thing is taken far too seriously by everyone. Sure, Emo kids look funny, and Geeks are weird and Jocks can be jerks, but if you have any kind of people skills, you can usually get past that stuff. Maybe its just me.

I've gone through alot of physical changes during my absense. Particularly growing, and then cutting my hair. Also I start working out a bit and joined my school's wrestling team. I think I've changed a bit. Check me out. The bright Mediterranean sun reflected brightly off of Mikhali’s bare olive skin as he painted the arch over the entrance way of a large mansion. Ordained with fine-detailed vines and olive branches, Mikhali painted with a look of simple bliss on his face. It was true that the Ottomans thought little of Greeks and their culture, but that did not stop them from appreciating their art and craftsmanship. Sweat beads gathered on the surface of Mikhali’s reflection, but the comfortable breeze off the Achean Sea cooled his body, sending his wavy black hair fluttering into the wind now and again. It was times like this that Mikhali appreciated most out of life. The times when he could paint, and enjoy the paradise-like enviroment of Greece. The cool ocean winds and the beautiful sun in a clear blue sky, these things made it nearly possible for Mikhali to forget his position in the social-latter. It was almost heaven. “Hey, boy!” screamed an aggravated Turkish tongue from behind Mikhali. Turning around slowly he faced his employer, a middle-aged merchant dressed in fine silk robes, his plump face adorned with a thick goatee and mustache. “You take too long! I’m not paying you by the hour, get the job done!” “Yes, sir… yes, sir.” Mikhali replied in a broken-Turkish lazily. He picked up the pace on his brush and continued with the vine he was painting. The chubby merchant began departing, leaving with the words, “It better look right, too… our your not getting paid in full.” As he walked off, Mikhali overheard him say, “…dirty little Cretan.” Mikhali smirked to himself and whispered to himself, “Malaka…” A short hour later, Mikhali had finished his work. He stepped back and looked upon his work, a beautiful doorway adorned with fine embellishments of leaves, olive branches, and illuminations. Despite the customer, Mikhali was proud of his work. It was now nearing the evening. Ready to collect his payment, Mikhali knocked on the main door and awaited the answer. The tubby merchant answered with a grouchy tone, “What? Are you finished?” “Yes sir. It is all done.” Backing away, Mikhali moved aside as the large man pushed past him to look upon his work. With a short “Humph.” and a raised eyebrow, the man frowned to himself and said, “Well, I suppose it will have to do.” Reaching into robe, he searched through one of many pockets and withdrew a clothe-wallet. Withdrawing a handful of five golden Drachma coins, Mikhali outreached his hand as they were placed within them. “There, now be off. I have guests arriving soon.” Counting the coins carefully, Mikhali hesitantly said, “S-sir… I believe our agreement was seven drachma.” “Are you trying to accuse me of something, boy? I am paying you for what you earned.” “Is there an issue with my work, sir?” Mikhali’s voice became slightly more forceful and offended, turning a defiant eye to merchant. Wearing a now stern expression, the merchant began to growl, “I’ll hear no more of your back talk, child. You will take what I’ve given you or I will inform the police that you are harassing an upper-class citizen.” With a sneer on his lips and an arch in his brow, Mikhali hurriedly gathered his supplies into a small sack and hoisted them over his shoulder as the merchant watched. “You should watch your attitude around customers, boy, or I’ll arrange you don’t work in this district again!” The merchant began insulting and threatening Mikhali more and more. Storming past the merchant, the young man cast an insulting hand at the fat merchant from afar. In an outrage, the fat man waddled to a chase after Mikhali who briskly jogged off and turned away into an alley way in the cities crowded district. This wasn’t the first time Mikhali had been shorted out of money due to similar circumstances. He had faced many discriminating employers before, not to mention the general ridicule he received on a daily basis. Fortunately, Mikhali had worked out a way to get back at the Ottoman’s. Tonight, he would go out, and paint a true masterpiece. And that was worth far more than two drachma.

So wait, I'm confused. We're set in modern times? Or past times? Or modern times with steam-pun, old world technology? What about fashion and everything? Can I use spray paint?
-
Wow, I thought it was modern times... Ah well. I think steam punk would be cool. Modern Steam Punk. In the 1600s, America was nothing more than a Colony so life without it wouldn't be entirely difficult to imagine. If we fast forward, technology and the state of human culture would be extremely altered and intersting to create. Also I worked in bombs and spray-cans, as well as some modern fashion, into my character. I just think it'd be alot more interesting and fun in modern alternative times.

Well, I suppose since I've performed at two paid venues thus far, a club and a party, I qualify as a muscian now. I'm an MC. I write all my own lyrics to whatever music is provided to me as long as I can set tempo to it. Mk Zen is the MC name.

Name: Mikhali Sumerkalis Age: 18 Country of Origin: Crete, Greece Personality: A natural jester and man of humor, Mikhali usually finds life as something to be laughed at. At face value, most people would take him as an artistic fool with no ambition beyond painting pictures and sleeping life away. Few know that this is actually a mask he wears to shield the fiery warrior-philosopher personality that he holds within. With a deep sense of duty, honor, and nobility, Mikhali is a man proud of his noble people’s heritage and ways of life and wishes for nothing more than for a free Greek democracy, like the days of his ancestors long ago. Appearance: Mikhali Mikhali dresses in a rather strange manner, embelishing his tattered clothing with patches and designs he made himself. His clothes are loose and sagging on his lean, ripped frame, as common to the poor and unpriveledged. He has black, curly hair kept long and dark brown eyes. His skin is a dark-tanned olive from his time spent outdoors painting and excersising. He also retains a large scar across his torso from the bomb which took the lives of his family. Family History: Mikhali lost his mother, father, and two brothers when he was only 12 to a revolutionary-terrorist’s bomb. They where together at an open-air market when the explosion claimed his family and left the young child with an awful scar across his chest. Mikhali was subsequently left to the custody of his only living relative, his uncle Stelios, a humble fisherman in the coast town of Rethymno. His uncle would teach Mikhali his family’s tradition of Pankration, the ancient Greek art of combat, as well as garnering his love of art with what little he could provide. Stelios taught Mikhali the ways of his ancestors and taught him about the past of the Greek people. These tales and lessons would inspire Mikhali to become a revolutionary himself. A first hand receiver and witness of the suppression placed upon Greeks and non-Muslims in Greece under Ottoman rule, Mikhali wished to see the glory days of democracy and freedom return to his land. However, he would vow to use means that would not bring harm to the innocent, such as the revolutionaries whose bomb took the life of his family. Occupation: Mikhali by profession is a painter. He is often commissioned by wealthy individuals to paint homes and businesses, as well as personal portraits. By night, however, he is a revolutionary graffiti artist, who uses his artistic talents to spread a message of freedom and democracy. Social Standing: Orphans, non-Muslims, native Greeks, and Cretans in particular are all looked down upon by Ottoman society. Mikhali finds himself caught at one of the lowest social levels. Nearly an untouchable, he is seen as nothing more than a dirty hillbilly from the island of Crete and an orphan not worthy of attention. Have you ever had Revolutionary Thoughts? The only thoughts that keep Mikhali sane and hopeful are those of a possible democratic revolution within his lifetime. OOC: I hope I can keep up with this...

I'm partial to the idea of a revoluntionary type of RPG. The second options tickles my fancy, since I'm a fan of George Orwell and Ayn Rand. It seems like it'd have a more poignant story if told. Thats my input. If I can post over a long period of time, I'd love to join. One question. Would the Greeks be held under the Ottomans? Or still be their own independent nation?

I know I havn't been around for a while... but this really really really needs to be pointed out: The Video Evidence There's more than one. So, can I just ask... What the hell?! How has this not been made more public? Why hasn't this been addressed yet? And more importantly, what does this say about Kerry, Police brutality, the underground of the government, and most of all, Skull and Bones? Hm?

Naruto: Will of Fire Konohagakure, Village Hidden in the Leaves. Many years have passed since the conflicts faced by 7th Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki and his allies. Vanquished now are the legendary shinobi of Akatsuki, defeated is the evil Sennin Orichimaru. Many brave souls fell to protect the village, and now the survivors of that time of conflict carry on Konohagakure’s will of fire today, with a new generation of shinobi. During this age of peace and prosperity, The Ninja Academy has just held it’s latest graduation ceremony, and now a new wave of talented young shinobi are on a new path of adventure, a winding road to their future… What new challenges and dangers await them? -------------------------------------- In this RPG, you will be playing the part of a new graduate from the Ninja Academy. You will not be allowed to play super-powerful shinobi, nor will you be allowed to play pre-existing shinobi. Instead, you will play the path to maturity of a new shinobi. You will start with a handful of shinobi abilities (feel free to be original or use blood line characters) and talents, however, at the end of the day, you will still be a fresh Genin. Over the time of the RPG, your character will follow basically the same path that Naruto and his friends did in the manga/anime series. Learning new techniques, becoming close to your team-mates, and going through perilous missions on your way to ascending to Chuunin and maybe eventually Jounin ranks. But you’ll have to learn a lot and believably develop your characters in order for them to become stronger. In order to make that happen, myself and two other experienced RPers shall be playing the roles of your Jounin mentors. The Boss as Shikamaru Nara, leader of Cell 1. Gavin as Konohamaru Sarutobi, leader of Cell 2. Ezekiel as Temari Nara, leader of Cell 3. There are nine spots open. Once your sign up is accepted, you will be placed in a cell randomly with whomever else we three choose. Once in your cell, you will be posting in your cell’s specified thread. During the first chapters of this RP, you will be under the command of your cell leader until we come to the Chuunin exam arc. It is up to your cell leader what missions you will be undertaking. This can range from Land of Waves arc style missions to body guarding a business man, depends on how cool your cell leader is. I personally plan on putting my cell through the former. Once the Chuunin arc is reached, you’ll be posting in a combined thread. Once you get past the Forest of Death, you will be posting as individuals. You are allowed to be the offspring of whatever characters you like, with the exception of: Shikamaru Nara/Temari Nara Rock Lee Konohamaru Maito Guy Kakashi Hatake, The 6th Hokage We have plans or history developed around those characters. For starts, both Maito Guy and Kakashi are deceased. Yes, they are dead. Another condition is that you absolutely must be from Konohagakure. Once (and if) the Chuunin exams are reached, new characters will be introduced from separate villages, and possibly, new players will be brought in for guest spots. I understand that the back story is very vague, but the real story is going to be told during the RP itself. Use the anime/manga series as reference as to how to let the story develop, and things will definitely go swimmingly. ------------------------------------- Sign Ups Name: (Japanese) Age: (12-13) Gender: Physical Description: (if pictures are used, they must be original, otherwise, I’d prefer a detailed description). Weapons: (if any) Fighting Style: (specialize in Genjutsu? Ninjutsu? Taijutsu? Weapons? Or a well-balanced mixture?) Jutsu/Techniques: (limited to two special techniques, with limited power). Short Biography: (what’s your character’s life like? Who’s their family? Etc etc) --------------------------- Remember, stay believable and stay true to the universe. The more your character grows, the higher quality this whole thing will have. Make it interesting, and most of all, have fun. I look forward to a good turn out. If the other Cell Leaders have anything to add, let them, because they will be acting as Co-authors in this with me. Have fun.

I'm proud of my drawing abilities. I'm proud of my musical tastes. I'm proud of my writing ability. I'm proud of my heritage (Greek/Irish/Cherokee). I'm proud of my appearance and physical ability. I'm proud of my social skills and way with women/relationships. I'm proud of my friends and family. I'm most proud of my skill in martial arts, which was a process that I worked long and hard to achieve. And while I am proud of my current state, I am by no means satisfied, heh. I look to improve more and more as my life goes on and to continue making myself proud.
-
My favorite past time is martial arts and the study of the different arts. I'm a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and I have limited experience in Wrestling, Muay Thai, Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Apart from making love, my favorite physical activity is fighting, or atleast trying to fight when my opponent is better than me. While I don't train as often as I'd like to, I try to push it as often as I can, and when I finally get a chance to spar, I have a very good time. Since picking up martial arts, I havn't been in any street fights either because people like me, or they're just scared to fight me. Either way, I don't mind. I'd rather not show what I can do unrestrained anyways, heh. Secrets are best kept secrets, haha. Some of my other past times include dancing, writing, drawing, and video games. Also I recently picked up working out and going to the gym (which really is just a way of making me better at fighting, heh).
