I don't see where you get off saying drinking and doing drugs ruins your life. First off, it depends how much alcohol you consume and what drugs your doing. If you only smoke pot casually I don't think it's really ruining your life. Seriously. >_>
I concur. The laws against Marijuana in the world are doing more bad than good, because people will smoke pot one way or another. We're just stuffing our prisons full of people who really aren't doing anything that bad. Pot is from nature. Alcohol is too. So I don't see why they should be banned as such. Heh. Just use in moderation.
As a side note, I've wanted to cosplay as Tuxedo Mask for years, but I've been afraid to because I'd rather not have that awkward moment where I run into Sailor Bubba, the local Giant Hairy Man Cosplaying As A Sailor Scout.
That would be unsetteling. And then everyone around would think you all came together. Even worse. -
I Forgot What You People Look Like (Image Heavy)
Zen replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
Anyway, here are some pictures of me from my trip to AX yesterday. I was on the fence about cosplaying, but I decided to go for it though my costume was hardly outrageous. For anyone who cares, I went as Aizawa from Death Note. I'd say a grand total of zero people recognized me. Oh, the plight of the secondary character who has no distinct attire. :animecry:
Look at it this way. Atleast you didn't embarass yourself like the obese guys who dress up like InuYasha or Goku. -
Yes, I do understand the situation. I understood it was your girlfriend whom is black. . .and thus on. What I said still stands as much as you're trying to defend your own blatant idiocy. I don't even know why I try to talk to you. It's like talking to a wall. So I'm done, do whatever it is you're going to do, and pay for your consequences.
The situation is this. Her black friend is insulting ME. You thought he was making fun of her for being black. You were wrong. But very well.

Thank you for the advice Aaryana_Mom. I understand what you are saying, and while I find that it is more than likely the correct reasoning, I just couldn't call the authorities on someone who has yet done any physical harm to me, nor could I attack him less that be the situation. Again, I do intend on going with the peaceful route, and hopefully this will result in a much more friendly relationship between me and this fellow should everything go well. If not, then hopefully nothing to badly will come of it. If things do become bad, I fully plan on reporting it to authorities. Copycatalyst, you still don't understand the situation what so ever. This fellow is my black girlfriend's friend. He is black. He finds that I am stepping over morale boundaries to date her and dislikes me on the basis that I am NOT black. That is the conflict, and his pacive-aggressive attacks on me are because he believes she should be with a black male and not me. Please, this is the second time you've offered your word and have been wrong. Aswell, there is no justification to his racism, should it be against black, whites, asians, or any other race. It's just not acceptable. If I were allowing his anger and animosity to control me, then he would have been bruised and bloodied already, but I have maintained control over myself and my emotions to this extent, and I have always maintained my code that I would not lay a hand on another man until he has done so to me or my loved ones. This situation is no different. Even if he insults me and attempts to sabotage my relationship, as long as he does nothing physically, I don't really care. Sure, they will annoy me, possibly even anger me, but I have my own ways of dealing with anger. I fight as sport and art, I'm a martial artist. So forgive me for placing physical conflict on a pedastal, that's an honest mistake on my part, but I still find it to be a more honorable resolution should I be attacked than running away and telling someone. As I said, if it goes beyong and one on one hand to hand confrontation, then I have no problem with leaving the then dishonorable situation and alerting authorities. But remember, any fight I ever get into will be a purely defensive one. But again, this is all hypothetical, and I completely intend on this reaching a peaceful resolution between two people who have yet to even speak to one another. Maybe when he finally decides to talk with me, he'll find that I'm not such a bad guy... I hope that happens, heh.

Homeboy. Let it go, jeez. You get far too heated over things that really don't matter and then you get all insulting about it. I'm gonna give you a chill pill perscription...

When I say I'm proud, I mean I am proud of who I am, proud of my heritage, and proud of who I have become. I'm Greek, and I'm proud to be Greek. That, however, does not mean I find myself to be superior to anyone. I just happen to like the heritage that I have in the people of Greece. Yes, I have talked to my father about it. And yes, he for a while, believed that I was attempting to spite him. He may not believe that any longer, but when I ask him to meet her, he begins saying that I need to "Stop trying to force my relationships on him." and that he "Doesn't need to meet every girl I get with." even though he has, without a problem, met every other girl I have dated (save the one other black girl I have dated). The thing that bothers me the most is that my father is full-blooded Greek. His family had the same exact problems with him marrying my mother, who is of Irish/Indian descent. He went through the same troubles and all, however, he does not understand my pain for him to do the same thing to me. Me and my father have other issues to settle beyond his problems with my relationship. However, I've met her parents and they like me and are always glad to have me over. I feel like it's unfair and completely embarrassing to me that my father won't meet her and won't accept her in the same way. As for the pride and honor thing, I just want to be left alone to protect myself shall the time ever come. It will not have been the only fight I've ever been in. I doubt this individual will actually attack me, and I feel his threat was simply the ramblings of a person who simply doesn't like me. It was much of a threat as it was a "If that guy looks at me wrong like that again, I'm gonna kick his (expletive deleted)". I didn't take it as a serious threat, but being a martial artist who fights for recreation within a school, I take that as a challenge deep inside. I can rationalize that out, however. Believe me, if things went past a fist fight, I have no problem running away and telling the authorities. I completely understand the concept of "violence is not the answer" and I agree. But I'm also confident enough in my own fighting abilities to handle myself without worry should it happen. I'm not the type who gets on top of a guy and beats his brains out, I would just put him down and tell him to leave me alone. But, as I said before, I want this to be settled peacefully without conflict and without outside interference. As immature or foolish as that may sound, I need you to understand that I have to be left to settle my own problems like a man. This is my girlfriend's friend, and I know she doesn't want anything bad to happen, which is the main reason I want this settled peacefully. I don't want this to turn into a fight, and I'll try my best to keep it from happening as such. If it does happen, I won't take it to far, and if it becoems to serious, then I will step away with my life and get the authorities. I'm trying my best to keep this mature and civil.

My List (for now): silpheedpilot/Joe: My oldest friend on Otakuboards and probably the person I've ever been closest to on the Internet. My good pal... what a douche. Retribution/Alex: My second oldest friend on Otakuboards and my official hetero life-mate. "It's not guy love... It's bromance." I heart my brown bear. Jokopoko/Will: "Because there are only two things I hate in this world. People who discriminate against others.... and the British." Oh you know I'm just playing. One my favorite limey's, he's been a good friend to me for sometime now, and really, he worships me for blessing him with comic books. Gavin/Gavin: A cool ol' Irishman if I ever saw one. His obsession with Dragonball Z is admirable, as his unparalleled skill in writing... seriously people. The guy deserves more credit. He's like a big brother. Ezekiel/Jamie: Another cool limey, and a right pretty one if I do say me-self. A fantastic writer and artist in her own right, we also happen to share one unbreakable bond.... our deep love of Rock Lee. White/Honky: Just so I could call him "honky" to his face.... then maybe kick 'em in the nads. Neuvoxraiha/D'Ann So we could have an awesome kung-fu/dance battle... that is if she didn't rape me first. Revelation/Erica: So we could have our huge brother/sister arguements face to face... and also do the Thizzle dance. Dragon Warrior/Gavin: We're the perfect comic duo. He's the Matt Damon to my Ben Affleck. We're just so handsome, we'd become famous upon meeting. I believe the reason we havn't met yet is because the government knows it'd be world domination should we ever meet. Charles: He makes me laugh. It would amuse me.
You missed the point. Forgive me for actually wanting to understand why you were so upset. Since like I said before, you had not clarified that it was going beyond mere insults. :animesigh
That was not directed at you, forgive me for not clarifying. I did give you three of the reasons though, I understand what you were saying. As for Copycatalyst, he seems to have completely misunderstood several key points, particularly that of which I am not black, and my girlfriend is. I personally find this hilarious, seeing as how I made this clear in my first post.
-
So just what actions are we talking about here? So far you've mostly talked about insults and in my opinion those are not worth being this upset over. Those words are coming from an idiot who is too blind to see that there is nothing wrong with your relationship. But honestly, you're coming across as pig headed and stubborn since you've yet to list anything besides insults. And refusing to respond to verbal insults does not make one a victim. I'm trying to understand why you are so angry, or feel that your honor or pride has been hurt, but I just don't see it.
1. Gave her phone number to one of his friends without her permission and told him that she was single, attempting to get him to try and hook up with her. 2. Constantly tries to convince her to break up with me. 3. Had attempted to (and failed to) intimidate me in person, and has threatened to attack me behind my back. It is too bad I do not have respect for my principles. All I ask for is respect which should be given to a person until given a reason otherwise not to. That's what pride is, and that's all I have to ask for. Forgive me for having self respect and honor.
-
To be blunt, it sounds like you're every bit as pig headed and stubborn about how they have hurt your honor and pride as they are about disapproving in who you date due to what race they are. If you really say you are going to 'settle' it if they start it. That's no better than them refusing to let go of the racial hatred towards you or your girlfriend. Remember... Pride goes before the fall. And right now it looks like your fall is going to be pretty damn painful. So just as they need to grow up as Retri put it. You my friend need to let go of that pride and get help from authorities if need be. Vigilante justice never works.
Sorry if I come off as pigheaded for wanting to defend my character and honor. It's not vigilante justice to defend yourself last time I checked, and that's all I ever intend to do. I'm not going to start a fight, because I promised myself I never would., and as a man, I will follow that. I am not insulted by his words, but by his actions. All I said is that if his actions go further than cowardly piddeling, then I may have to confront him, not necessarily fight. If it does turn into a fight, I will not be the one to start it. Forgive me if I seem a bit stubborn, but I have to keep my principles. I refuse to be the victim of a coward. Pigheaded I may be, but atleast I am not discrimatory or prejuidice. I do not like being compared to an individual who will judge me on such concepts. I may have a very old fashioned demeanor about myself, but if there is one thing I have inherited from my upbringing, it's to resolve conflict like a man, and not like a coward. I'd like to sooner resolve things through words, like a man, than let things continue go on. I've been told, however, that if I were to try, he would more than likely not agree to let words speak. If that is the situation, then I'm going to have to defend myself, and I don't plan on losing.
-
Well then call me ignorant and arrogant. I just don't care. My honor and pride mean everything to me, and regardless of the morality of the subject, it's what I've chosen to hold as my driving forces. It has served me well thus far. If there is anything worht fighting for, it's my honor and the honor of my loved ones. Hopefully that can be respected, if not agreed upon.
-
Sorry, but I'm far too prideful to not handle my own problems. My ego may be a bad thing in your eyes, but to me, it's all that I truly have. My honor and my pride. Unfortunately for this individual, I'm a fighter. However no one's going to die, and hopefully, no one will be getting hurt. I don't want this to turn into a physical conflict, but if it doesn, I have no problem with settling it. But this is getting off topic. There are other people other than him who show this kind of behaviour, however less intense or personal it may be.
-
I don't care about what he says about me. I care about what he tries to do to me. Some of the actions this individual has taken go beyond what is acceptable. I can put up with his words all day long and I don't really care, because I know until he faces me like a man, that he isn't one in my eyes. However, when he takes action behind my back to try to set up guys with my girlfriend, or tries to convince her to break up with me, that's another thing entirely. While she is good to me, and she wouldn't think of betraying me, the fact of the matter is, this guy needs to cut that stuff out. It's inappropriate and more than that, it's cowardly. I'm all about peace, love, and forgiveness. I'm a Buddhist, after all. But also, I have my own code of honor that I have to uphold and while I don't plan on attacking this guy, I definetly do plan on finishing any fight he starts with me.
-
It's not the pride of what I am, it's the pride of who I am. For someone to insult me, my people, my girlfriend, and everything else about me is one thing. For them to tell my girlfriend to break up with me is another. For them to challenge my manhood and honor, that is another. All those together, regardless of what kindness I should show, will get you into deep trouble with me. I've been through enough in my life, and the last thing I need is some punks who don't know me judging me based on the color of my skin when they don't even know who I am or what I've gone through. That's not just an insult of my skin, but an insult of my entire being and who I am as a person. That's clear dishonor, and while I may seem like an old fashioned moron, I can't let that go. I don't plan on getting nto a fight, and I know violence won't solve anything, especially when I know who this individual happens to befriend. However, if he takes his apparent attack on me any further, I'm going to be forced to handle it myself.
-
As much as I usually ignore things, it kinda hits me in the pride when I hear about her friends talking all sorts of garbage about me. And while I usually wouldn't care, if a man I've never met is saying how I'm such a "punk-*** white boy" and what not, well, I get a bit uppity and ready to fight. Especially when he doesn't even know what I could do to his face. When we're in the mall and a group of black guys whisper "She's wrong for that" or something, yeah that gets on my nerves. When a dude walks by and checks her out and then looks me in the eye like he's going to do something, yeah, I get ready to pounce on some dude. They should thank God for mall security. I'm a fairly prideful person, and I'm driven by my honor. So when my honor is insulted, I'm tempted to get into a physical confrontation, however the people around me always keep this from me. So with all this stuff, alot of aggression has built up inside me that I have yet to vent, heh. As much as I'd like to dismiss all the words and looks, I really can't allow people to dishonor me and my girlfriend like they do, ya know? I suppose that's my biggest dilemma.
-
So. Me and my girlfriend of two months are an interracial relationship. She is black, and I am not, hah (due to my Greek lineage, few call me white). Ever since our 'coming together' we encounter a bit of subtle racism on both sides on the street or when we are out together. Walking through the mall, you hear the whispers, and you see the stares from others. My own father, I hate to say, is even displeased with the relationship. He sees it more as a way for me to spite him rather than a legitamite relationship. Both me and my girfriend are of the liberal mindset and don't really think twice about one another's differences in other ways than humorous. So, I dare ask, has anyone else been in an interracial relationship? What are your views on the subject? Have you encountered these kind of public reactions from the relationship? And do you have any advice in dealing with rascist problems at home or abroad?

Word Up: Editor?s Notes Hip Hop, a way of life for an entire culture. Today, in our world, the genre has been defined by its MC?s, or to the uneducated, rappers. Famous for their lyricism and penchant for legal problems, it would seem that they rule the popular music and culture scene today. However, in the last few years, it seems hip hop's popularity, or at the very least, its connection with its roots, has waned. With record labels focused now on almost only record sales, rappers have very little freedom in their songs to form creative, venting raps, as it was originally meant to be. Club and dance songs abound, and true lyricism is dying down. It would seem that the art of the MC is a dead one. This article may be a short one; however, if the hip hop community at large cannot see just where I am coming from in saying this, then there truly is no hope for the genre. Its future will be lived out with club songs and the newest dances until it just fades into nothingness. Never again do I wish to hear the term ?Hip Pop?, for it is one that goes against what Hip Hop stood for in its creation. Unless someone in the industry its self steps forward to make a stand, I fear that the way of life that I have followed since I could think for myself, will no longer be. What would that mean for me? What of the people who died in creating it? What of the people who live it now? Will it all have been for nothing, because the labels were just too much about the Benjamins? Because the rappers needed another grand around their neck? This is an open challenge to all rappers, to all true MCs?. Prove me wrong. Save Hip Hop?. Start some ****. Rules of the Game You are in the shoe?s of a Hip Hop journalist. You?re job is to report on the newest developments in Rap music. Recently, several rap artists have started musical feuds, better known as ?Beefs? with one another, calling the others on the reported ?selling out? that they have done. These feuds have been started by the waning quality in the music today, but on top of this, it is being perpetuated by not only the rap labels, but also other popular media. The story will be told by journalistic means, however it is still telling the story of the rapper that you create as the character you fallow. This rapper will put out mixtape diss songs written by yourself. Step 1. Create a rapper. Step 2 Go to YouTube and search for voices of various rappers until you find the voice that will be that of your MC character. Step 3 Find a beat on YouTube from popular (or unpopular) rap songs to be used as the beat for your song. Step 4 Write and post the diss song targeting whoever you may so choose. And example will follow this if you do not understand. The 411 Remember, everything told in this story will be through articles written by various journalists (you) telling the story of the rapper you created and the songs that you wrote and put out for that rapper. Posts will go by either an article written, or you can post just a song. Or you can post both together. But that is how it goes. The story is told through journalism, and more than that, through the rap diss tracks themselves. The Roster Sign ups will be no different. It will be posted as a ?unsigned hype? or feature article on the artist themselves. Use my sign up as an example. You may use pictures if you please to help with your rappers description. Battle Front: New Orleans A new soldier from the N.O., Mikey Militant? Young, inexperienced, and ill as they get, the path to stardom for New Orleans native Mikey Militant was short to say the least. Born on July 26, 1988 to a Haitian immigrant mother and an anonymous father, the youth that was Mikey Militant found solace in two places as a child. The streets and the grit of early gangster rap. In his teen years, in between recording solo demos and high school, the young man became affiliated with the 3rd Ward Bloods, an off shoot of the numerous L.A. based gangs. Soon put to work selling cocaine and crack for his higher ups, the young man was inspired by his street experiences and began putting down major tracks which would get him attention from local labels, however, he remained strictly a local hit. However, with his newest mixtape, put out by famed DJ Alert, his path to fame should be short. Already a hit in the underground and mixtape community, the young MC?s vicious attack on most popular MC?s today are both provoking and truth-ringing, calling each one out on their real life mishaps and mistakes. I got to sit down with the MC recently for a brief interview. We met at his favorite Cajun Bar & Grille, the Fishbone. I watched with a smirk on my face as the arrogant MC answered my questions. No posse, no body armor. He was quite confident he was safe in his hometown, and I can only speculate why. Standing roughly 6?0? tall, he is deceivingly thin, but yet commands respect in his cocky speech pattern. The long rasta braids on his head can only remind me of Bob Marley?s illegitimate love child with Tony Montana. Iced out and wearing very expensive clothing, we spoke lightly over a basket of Cajun popcorn shrimp. So? what inspires you to rap? Mikey: What inspires me? Well, let?s look at the game, main. Kids is runnin? **** all wrong. Puttin? out that soft ****, that ***** ****. I mean, looking back on where the game was, today, it just ain?t happenin?. I can?t let the game go down like that. You mean to say that you aren?t feeling other rappers out right now? Mikey: Feelin? ?em? Main, I ain?t even hearin? ?em. I can?t turn on the damn radio these days without hearin? some punk *** rappin? bout how he in the club, or how he with yo girl, or how he bump ?n grind. I?m tired of it, I gotta here that hard **** again, main. And if I?m the only one makin? it, then I?ll only be hearin? me. Ya mean? Got ya. So then, tell me. Who all are you targeting in your new mixtape? It seems you are trying to make some enemies?. Mikey: I ain?t trying to make nothin? but dollars man. This is about me getting the game to wake the hell up. This is my revolution if you wanna call it that. I?m callin? out ALL RAPPERS. I ain?t talking ?bout no one person, I?m talking to the rap game as a whole. Wake the **** up, cuz if ya?ll don?t, then I?ll putcha to rest. Unnastand that?
