The Original

My Version (please excuse the size) Took me about 30 minutes. 2. Much like Quincy Archer, I grew up with anime. Comic books and anime have been the most consistent thing in my entire life in terms of liking it and having it available. Another thing about anime is the fact that it's basically an animated comic book. It provides the stage for dramatic and complex stories to be told while allowing for much more dynamic and stylized action compared to the average live action show or movie. Another factor which causes me to like anime (and comics, which includes manga) is the fact that I am an artist. I feel like anime/comics are a tangible thing for me to use as reference material when I want to draw something a certain way. Also, it gives me hope that when I grow older, all my doodling and whatnot will not have gone to waste and that I may have a career in something I love very much. Not anime persé, but comics atleast with that anime stylization. But honestly, look at anime in general and what they get away with while still looking cool. 15 year old kids piloting giant robots and being killed? I don't think you could pass that off in a live action show. Same could be said for 9 year old's losing major limbs and people literally exploding. If it weren't for anime, several really amazing and deep story's would have never been told. So three cheers...
  3. *Bamf!* A poof of golden smoke teleported a blue-skinned young man in the center of a large grey-white room. His blue skin decorated with several raised tattoos, carrying a meaning very important to the strange looking young man. He wore a tight-fitting black jump suit meant to allow easy, comfortable movement, a long trench-coat hanging over the otherwise professional looking outfit. The white room seemed nearly sterile in clean smoothness. An array of neat tiles served as the floor. An intelligent voice sounded over an intercom into the room, coming from a small observation room in a far away corner of the gargantuan room. It was the Professor. ?Alright, Kurt. This scenario will be the most demanding you have encountered yet... are you certain that you are prepared for this?? he questioned with a genuine concern, one of the many qualities that helped Kurt trust the Professor without a doubt. ?Ja! Of course, mein Professor.? Kurt replied with his usual nonchalant optimism, rubbing a three fingered hand over short dark hair. He looked into the glass observation booth and gave a wink with his golden, nearly luminescent eyes. ?Very good, Kurt. Best of luck.? the Professor replied with confidence in his pupil. Kurt nodded back and put a smirk on his youthful face and prepared himself. Then a light siren went off. ?Danger Room Scenario #32-C... Subject: Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler?. Suddenly, the room began transforming. Colors changed and shapes sprung into life. Dark tones over took the cleanliness of the room, and a grungy feeling over took the place. Then, Kurt found himself in the middle of a dirty boating dock. Stingy crates and boxes surrounded him and the stench of sick water loomed in the air. ?Nevah ceases to amaze me...? Kurt spoke to himself in a thick German accent. Almost on cue, a gang of six ski-masked thugs rushed out of the stacks of old crates, aiming sub-machine guns at the seemingly in-human figure that was Nightcrawler. ?Uh oh.? Kurt said as the sound of bullets entering their chambers signaled him into action. *Bamf!* Kurt was gone in a poof of golden smoke, then reappearing over the heads of one of the thugs. He came down, grasping the skull of the thug with his three-toed foot, pushing it into the wooded ground of the dock. Spiraling with great athleticism, Kurt utilized his pointed tail to wrap around the neck of a second thug and flip him several times, hitting the body of the already downed gunmen with great force. *Bamf!* Kurt disappeared again. The remaining gunmen spun around in a frantic panic, searching for him. Suddenly Kurt appeared again, drop kicking one of the thugs into the mucky waters of the docks, then hand springing off the ground, he flipped over another gunmen and drove his body into the ground, face first. Years of circus performance had molded Nightcrawler?s body into a gymnastic weapon, and it became very apparent in his movements amongst the bewildered thugs, whom numbered in only two at this point. *Bamf!* The golden smoke meant that Kurt was gone yet again. The two, nervous gunmen went back to back, seeking to destroy the blue devil. Suddenly, Kurt reappeared below them, kneeling as he spun at great speed into a sweep kick that sent the two thugs flipping onto their heads, knocking them unconscious. Cartwheeling backwards into a flip, Kurt stuck a gymnast?s landing, and gave a bow. This was the ?Incredible Nightcrawler of Munich.?... Kurt Wagner. A young mutant, a strong will, and most of all.... an X-Man. ?Bravo, Kurt... Bravo.? OOC: Hope this isn't too long.

  5. Me and my group of friends at school have a fairly innocent running joke. What we do is wait around until one of us leaves our book-bags alone (we don't have the convience of lockers at my school, so we have to carry our stuff around). When the person isn't looking or is out of the area, we take the book bag, empty it's contents, flip it inside out, and put their stuff back in the flipped book bag, we then zip it back closed, and toss it to the side. We call it (with our sick minds) "sack tucking". The dismayed face of a person's face is priceless, especially when the person has never encountered "tucking" before. Again with our sick and perverted minds, we draw male sexual organs on pieces of paper and slap them on each other's cars. Speaking of cars. My school has a security guard. We mess with this guy alot. Once my bud Adam hid away in the trunk of my friend Chase's car, and he rolled up next to the Security guy. Adam jumped out of the closed trunk with tape over his mouth and hands and ran away, right in front of him. In a more recent joke involving him though, was with me, Adam, and a couple other friends go permission from the Principle to 'pimp' out the Guard's golf cart (which he goes around campus on). We decked the thing out in pink and tin foil, put some graphics on it and gave it a leopard-skin steering wheel cover. We filmed the whole thing and two days later, we aired it (one of our bud's edited it on his comp and added a bunch of music and what not to make it look good). Perfectley executed prank. Another, much less innocent prank had to deal with an elderly substitute teacher. We were passing along a sheet of paper to sign our name's for attendance. I signed my name, and a couple spaces down, signed as "Harry Ballsonia","Oliver Clothesoff", and "Mike Hunt". To hear the elderly lady say "Who is this...Mike Hunt fellow?" was like... comedic gold. Still laughing about that, and it happened at first quarter of the year. Another innocent, but quite mean joke is taking a person's book or pencil or whatever off their desk and toss it on the ground. You are then supposed to say one of three phrases. "Hate Crime..." "Now pick it up!" "Sssiiiiiiiiiiiiith" (as in Star Wars, cuz where're all Geeks). As a side note, my bud Adam had two of his teacher's calling him "Gaara"... Greatness.

  8. Name: Miguel Del Rios Age: 31 Gender: Male Place of Origin: Brooklyn, New York City Known History: Miguel was born and raised in the heart of New York City. A troubled youth, his parent?s worked hard to support the meager lifestyle they lived in. As a reaction to poverty, Miguel was an active gang member through out a lot of his youth. A traumatic event would lead to a turning point, however he discusses it rarely, so it is largely unknown. It is clear it happened within time for him to save his high school career and attend a respectful university within city limits where he pursued a career in criminal justice. His dreams were to rid the world of bad influences on children, such as him. Through his studies, he found there were deeper roots than just common street thugs who were responsible for crime in the world. He decided what he wanted was to hit crime and evil at it?s roots, the men behind the scenes. And so, after his graduation with an Associates Degree, Miguel applied for a position at the Central Intelligence Agency. He got in with ease, being both mentally and physically sound to become an effective field agent. He acted in several missions through out his career. The details, however, are strictly classified. The most likely possibility being that he took part in Black Ops activities. Through this, he slowly built up a reputation as a reputable espionage and infiltration agent. During his time as a agent of the CIA, Miguel would be infused with animal genes to enhance his agent skills... Shortly after these procedures, Miguel awoke within the confines of Paris2. Personality: Miguel isn?t a quite man. Coming from such a rough childhood, he?s grown into a man with hard emotions to disrupt outwardly. Because of this, he easily overcame the physical and mental hardships of the CIA training programs. This hard training only helped to strengthen both his ego and confidence in himself. Miguel is often described as ?charismatic? in the ideal situation, though it?s usually a much more vulgar term. He cares little though, for he feels his goals justify any personality flaws he may retain, such as inherit arrogance and what many describe to be full-hardiness. Regardless, he gets the job done and missions accomplished. For him, actions speak much louder than words, and he can articulate both. Appearance: Miguel Full Body Miguel?s outward appearance is nearly indeterminable from a regular human. Only a close look to his grey slitted eyes and a showing of his elongated canines will tell of his true nature. Animal Genes: Dendroaspis Polylepis , also known as the Black Mamba. Hybrid Abilities: Paralysis Inducing Venom: the Black Mamba produces the most potent poison in the reptilian species. It?s venom can cause paralysis, and death within minutes. Miguel?s body has been cultured to produce this deadly venom in both his finger nails and subtle fangs that appear to be elongated canines. Increased Speed: the Black Mamba is the single fastest snake in the species. It is capable of reaching speeds of upward to 12 km per hour by just slithering. Aswell, it?s reflexes are sharp and lightning fast, allowing it to strike out at enemies at blinding speed. Miguel retains these abilities himself. Agility and Flexibility: as in inherit in all snake?s and most reptiles, Miguel has amazing flexibility in his spinal column which allows for tight and agile motion in combat and infiltration. A practical contortionist, Miguel can shape his body into nearly any needed form in order to conduct acts of espionage. *extra* Thermal Sensory: all snakes have the ability to sense their prey through thermal or heat waves given off from their bodies. This ability translates to a natural thermal vision for Miguel. OOC: Please inform me if there are any changes you suggest making.

The numerous deaths on the island were causing Michael to become paranoid. That may have been the reason for his jumping to conclusions when one survivor had been shot and killed. Alex had proven his integrity to Mike before saving his life, and it was wrong of him to conclude he was anything but innocent in this case. But the most recent death of Luther was even more eerie than the previous ones. There were no telling marks of his death. No wounds or bruises, just a cold body. It was possible he had died from some poisoning, maybe from a bad mushroom, but Mike doubted it. Luther was smarter than that. He knew better. It was apparent it was puzzling the other survivors as well. ?Alex...? Mike whispered into his ear as they walked. ?What?? he replied with a reasonable frustration. He gave Mike a harsh look. ?Listen... I?m sorry. I shouldn?t have done what I did. It was wrong. It?s just...? ?I understand. Let?s just forget about it. We have more things to worry about than a misunderstanding.? Alex said with a softer approach. ?Thanks... but, hey. How do you think Luther died? You don?t think it was poison, do ya?? Mike questioned with concern. ?I don?t think so. We probably would have seen some sort of signs of sickness if it were.? ?Jeez... then what?? ?We?ll probably find out soon...? Alex replied as he looked on into the darkness. As he did, Mike stumbled slightly over a hard object. He leaned over to see it was a long piece of dry wood. Leaning over, he picked it up and tore the sleeve from his shirt. Wrapping around the end of the stick, he gave it to Alex. ?Use this. We?ll be able to see better.? ?Thanks, good thinking.? he said, lighting it up with his Zippo. The flame caught soon and lit up the dark hallway to the point were detail could be seen in the walls. Their were some sort of hieroglyphs engraved on the hallway?s entirety. It portrayed a story of transformation, of some sort. Kat walked up to the wall where Mike stood, touching her hands on the walls. ?What do you think these mean...?? she questioned her self more than the others. ?They look like the monsters we saw earlier.? Alex said, bringing the light closer to the wall. ?Definitely Let?s hurry up and get to the middle of this.? Mike said to the others. They all nodded and they continued their journey, reading the hieroglyphs as they walked. Something troubled Mike however. As they came closer to the center of the temple, the ghastly stench of blood grew stronger... Mike had a feeling he wasn?t going to like what they found at the end of this hallway. ----------------------------------------------------- OOC: Alright, so... I apologize for not posting when I was supposed to. Long week end. But yeah. Let?s get it on.

    E3 06

I just viewed the trailer and I retract my former statement. All I can say is.... "Oh... My... Lord...". How are they going to mess with Snake on Smash Bros.? I mean... What?! This is mind-boggling for me. As much as I love Smash Bros., I can't see how Snake would play any role in it. I just hope they do him justice and don't have Warior farting on him or something. Wow...

Charles, I think your forgetting Kojima's trend of using gameplay graphics for all cinematics. I can't think of a MGS title that has used CG for cinamatics. So I'm very confident that MGS4 is no exception. Also, the scene with Raiden had a bit of a slow down, which may support this fact even more. Also, I highly doubt Smash Bros. will be including Cloud and Snake into the cast of characters. I surely hope that was a joke.

    E3 06

So far, E3 06 has blown me away with some of the stuff being put out. Namely, the new trailer for my favorite series, MGS4. I always had a general perception of Raiden as a wuss with to many complaints. I've tossed that out the door as soon as I saw him
cut the leg our from under the Metal Gear.
Also the whole deal with Snake's
suicide and Meryle's return
have me pondering. Also, what was the deal with Liquid Ocelot? All of this has me very excited. I just hope it doesn't mean the end of the series, because it's obvious Snake probably won't be making a return... *cry*. I plan on getting the PS3 before any other console. Namely for the free online play. But I am growing envious of the X-Box 360 owners with titles such as Halo 3 and Gears of War coming soon. Cliffy B. really knows his biznaz. Too Human looks enteresting aswell. Great stuff. As for the Wii ("Worst Name Ever..." in Comic Book Guy Voice), well... I have to say I'm impressed by Red Steel's sword and gun play. Coolness. Also Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3 have me interested, but I'm really not an up to date Nintendo guy. I can get Twilight Princess on my Gamecube when it comes out, so no importance off the bat for me. What I'm hoping to hear news of is the new Mortal Kombat: Armegeddon title and God of War 2 to keep me on my PS2 for a little while longer. I'm looking out for 'em. Other than that though, Tekken 6 has be keeping my eye on the PS3 along with MGS4 and the new title from Insomniac which is a freaking cool looking FPS. I can't wait. Time will tell...

Mike was growing restless. This entire series of events was beginning to wear on his mind. The death of a comrade was something he found hard to get over, and his promise to Alex still stood. He would find him... now. Mike rose up from the group?s gathering around a fire and walked over to Luther. It had been a couple of hours since Kat had left and he needed somebody responsible to watch the camp. ?Luther...? Mike said quietly to him, trying not to be noticed. ?Y-yeah? What?s up?? he replied with a shake in his voice. Most likely from Mike?s earlier outburst. ?I?m gonna go find that bastard Alex. He needs to pay... I need you to watch the camp while I?m gone. I?m trusting you...? he said to him with a strong tone, looking Luther directly into his eyes. Luther just looked back and nodded with assurance. Mike nodded back and raised up, making his way for the weapon?s hut. He would fight Alex like an honorable man. Reaching onto the wall, Mike withdrew two long hunting knives. Their blades where fine and sharp, and they carried a decent weight to them. He spun them around on in his fingers and tucked them both in his belt. He then picked out his first rifle and made his way past the inhabitants of the camp, giving Luther one last look of confidence. Not to long after, Mike was deep in the jungles, trailing the broken branches and deep foot steps left by Alex. He also noticed the smaller feet of Kat. He worried about her safety, and hoped she hadn?t found Alex. There wasn?t a doubt that she could handle her self. Mike just wanted Alex for himself. For his honor... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mike had been wandering the jungles for sometime now. Alex?s trail was pretty far out. Then Mike stopped as he looked out into a fine clearing where Alex?s foot steps led. Looking out, he noticed a horrifying site. The dead body of Sharpe, the old man who had helped them out... Mike ran over to his body to find two gun shot wounds in him, and his body stripped of a few items. Alex was the only suspect in Mike?s mind, and he looked up from the body to see a new trail, this time with Kat?s foot prints following Alex?s. Had Alex kidnaped her? Was he holding her hostage or something? He thought to himself with anger and fear. Mike ran as fast as he could following the trail, adrenaline and rage pumping though his veins. He could feel himself growing closer to them, then Mike saw them. He could see Alex?s back and he dug his feet deep into the ground and propelled his body at amazing speeds Giving out a great cry of fury, he tackled Alex, hearing Kat scream in shock as they rolled fiercely on the ground. Mike released him and let his body fly into the base of a thick tree trunk with a thud. Alex looked up after rubbing his soar back to see Mike crouching, a scowl of anger on his face. They stared into one another?s eyes for a moment, fire coming between them. Their rifles had wound up on the ground, crossing over one another in an ironic way. Suddenly, Kat ran in-between them with her limbs out stretched, facing Mike. ?Mike, listen! Alex didn?t do it! It was Sharpe! You gotta believe me!? she hollered at him. Mike gave an angry grimace to her. ?You think that murderer wouldn?t lie to you?! Didn?t you see Sharpe? He?s dead! Alex killed him too! He helped us!? he yelled back at her. ?That bastard?s probably trying to cover the first murder with another...? ?No! He explained it all to me! It?s true! I know it...? Alex cut her off. ?Forget it, Kat! He isn?t going to listen... his head is too hot. He?s got blood lust in his heart...? Alex said with an spiteful tone. ?So say?s the pride less killer...? Mike replied with another scowl. Alex stood up, and walked past Kat. He continued to stare into Mike?s eyes. With this, Mike withdrew one of the hunting knives and threw it into the ground in front of Alex?s feet. Alex didn?t even give a flinch as he continued to stare into Mike?s fiery retina. Then Mike drew the second and held it in his hand. ?This is how it will be... a knife fight. You may not have honor... but I do. I refuse to sink to your level and kill an unarmed man.? ?I?m telling you, Mike... I didn?t do it.? Alex gave one final warning. ?Save it for God...? Mike cut him off, gripping his knife tightly. Alex leaned over and withdrew his own, and sat back in a defensive stance. ?So... it comes down to this.? he said with regret in his voice. Mike gave a smiling growl and flew at him with a burst of beastly speed, making the first strike... OOC: Okay, now for Blayze to reply to this. We have a pre-agreement for what happens.

  17. Agreed. Though I am guilty of posting in the last thread (because I enjoy the little game threads) I've noticed the slow decline in posting. Namely in two other past threads "Favorite Element" and "Favorite Number". When I first joined the OBs, this would not have been tolerated, and I've noticed the slow decline over a period of time. I posted in "Favorite Element" for a remedy and was recieved with a good response from SunfallE, but it still continued elsewhere. Now I think it's alright for game threads to have moderatley short posts for answers and new posts. However, for the actual discussion threads, I believe one sentence of spam shouldn't constitute as an actual post, and action should be taken. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I find it kind of annoying. - The Boss

  19. I don't have any real concrete plans for the summer yet. I do want to get in shape however, cuz I've been slacking alot more than usual lately. I plan on having a couple o' pool parties and getting some girls around me, cuz I recently became available. Just hanging with my friends is the only certainty though. I do plan on doing alot of swimming and playing some hoops. Practicing my martial arts, hopefully getting my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Might go by the beach and hang out. I'll have my license by this summer, so that should prove most interesting. Alot of gaming will occur, that is for sure. I'll probably beat Resident Evil 4 for the 5th time, as with Metal Gear Solid 3. I'm trying to get my hands on Subsistence and Mortal Kombat: Deception. So yeah, lots of gaming. I guess you'll be seeing me on the OBs a whole lot aswell. I suddenly feel alot more lame than I usually do.

  22. 8/10. The pics really cool. Soul Calibuer III is great and that's a good petrayal of the character, but the text is strange and hard to read. I still like it though. Aswell, Rush.... Rush is great.
  23. I think Fett could take Greivous regardless of range. His equipment is just about all close and long range. I could imagine Grevious getting set on fire by Fett's flamethrower at close range. Now if it were hand to hand, well, that's not really fair. Seeing as how Greivous does have six limbs and robotic strenght, I don't think it'd be a very fair fight against a regular human, even if it is Fett. But then again, if Fett had any misc. items just laying around, I'm sure he'd figure out a way to use them effectively. I don't even really like Fett that much, but I still think he could take Greivous. And as for there being a time where Vader was at Fett's mercy, I doubt it. Fett may have believed Vader was for the taking, but again, the Force is a bee-atch.
  24. Congratulations! You are now a famous and gifted writer. Author of a successful series of novels, you gain worldwide appeal and have millions of fans. One day on a vacations to the Rocky Mountains for skiing, your car barrels off the road and into a snow pile. You are found by one of these crazed fans who cares for you within their home. Soon however, you find out just how crazed this fan is when she ties you to your bed and breaks both your ankles with a sledge hammer. Don't blame her, blame Stephen King... I wish Wu Tang Clan would do another reunion album.
  25. Most of my viewing time is during [adult swim] and occasionally, Toonami (which used to be the only time I watched anime). I have recorded entire seasons of shows off TV and I've also bought the first season of Ruroini Kenshin. Usually I only watch anime during the night. Once in a while I'll watch it when I'm bored and there's nothing on Comedy Central or the History Channel. I watch TV during most of my activities in doors other than video gaming and when I'm on the net. I watch it when I'm drawing, doing homework, studying, reading, etc. So a good portion of that TV will probably be anime, though I'm usually not paying full attention. Usually though, I'll just play through a game. I've beated Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid 3 atleast 4 times. Alot of my time goes into gaming, but I watch anime whenever I get the chance or when I'm in the mood. Since the end of Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist, and the empending end of Neon Genesis Evangelion on [adult swim], the only shows I have been following lately are Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig and I'm getting into Eureka 7. If I could get together enough money to get Ruroini Kenshin Season 2/3 and Outlaw Star, I'd probably watch alot more anime. My Kenshin Season 1 Box Set ended right before the introduction of my favorite story arch and some of the best characters in the series. So, I'm scrapping to get those. Once I do, I'll probably watch anime alot more on average. But right now, it's just Naruto, Eureka 7, and Ghost in the Shell.
