By not playing Metal Gear Solid 1, you are denying yourself one of the greatest titles to be released on the Playstation One system. Believe me, the game isn't hard to play, but it will play mind tricks with you.
Psycho Mantis Boss Fight.
Anybody who's played the game knows about that. It's a great game. And if you own a game cube, you could just get Twin Snakes. MGS1 and 2 in a single pack. Should be super cheap by now. I thought it was very apparent in MGS3 that you were playing as
Big Boss
. His codename is Naked Snake, so that should have been a giveaway. Also, all that talk about the Cold War should have disqualified a man born in the 1970s. Also, MGS2's story line did make since, if you took the time to actually pay attention through the game's record length cut scenes. But yeah. MGS is my favorite game series, and is the only franchise which I have actually bought every console title to. I havn't played either of the AC!D titles, but then again, they aren't really relevant to the story anyways. MGS2 is the reason I bought a PS2, and MGS4 is the reason I'm buying a PS3.

I listen to all sorts of Hip Hop mostly. Busta Rhymes, DMX, Jay-Z, The Game, KRS-One, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Mike Jones, T.I., Invisbl Skratch Piklz, The X-Ecutioners, Dem Franchize Boyz, Lil' Wayne, Lil' Flip, Young Jeezy, Too Short, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Lil' Wyte, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Jurassic 5, Nujabes, Wu Tang Clan, U.G.K., Three 6 Mafia, Llyod Banks, Run DMC, OutKast, Freeway, Birdman, Common, Ice Cube, Ice T, Jadakiss, Cypress Hill, and etc. I can list several artists that I enjoy. The only thing I really require out of hip hop for me to enjoy it is either good (as in funny or deep) lyrics or a general sound that makes me feel good and that I enjoy hearing. I don't care if they are underground or main stream or gangster or whatever. As long as it sounds good, I'll enjoy it. As for rock music, I have a more limited list. I have the same principals for this form aswell. Good sound or lyrics. Nirvana, Queen, AC/DC, Blink 182, Sum 41, Green Day, All American Rejects, Linkin Park, Pink Floyd, and Ozzy Osbourne, the greatest of all.
It's proven that the first Christian Emperor of Rome, Constantine, had the Holy Bible assembled from various different relegious texts which circulated around the known world at the time.
I said that he had the Holy Bible assembled. I didn't say he did it, I said that he was the one who decided it needed to happen. I'm fully aware it was early church leaders who decided what books would be included. I meant my comment in the sense that it was man who decided which texts would be deemed good enough for the actual Bible. But yes, I agree with what your saying. I'm not going to end my faith due to this, however, seeing as how the actual scholars/scribes who wrote it were Holy men and apostles. I'm not a fundalmentalist or even a strict christian. I just have my relegious beliefs and they come from the general Christian faith. I, myself, consider several of the books left out of the Bible very interesting and I wouldn't deny the truth or teachings in them simply because of the personal 'tastes' of certain majority relegious leaders from centuries ago. I think people should look past the actual Bible into the other writings if they want a deeper understanding of things... but then again, I havn't even read the whole thing yet.

Black silk covered my eyes, and I could see nothing. A familiar, pleasant sensation covered my body. A feeling like the fingers of a woman caressing the entirety of my body. It was paradise for that time. Suddenly, pain. Great pain. My skin was set a blaze, like a fire was set upon my very flesh, and I woke up in a panic, looking upon my torso to see dozens of black insects swarming my body. I leapt up frantically screaming, swiping the creatures from my clothes and person. After the confusion had ended, I checked myself further to realize what I had been wearing. An open white button shirt, now torn and dirty. My pants where black slacks, and I was bare foot. I looked at my hands a saw the dirty, dark complexion on them. I had dark skin. I ran my hands through thick auburn hair and over my smooth, sharp features. After checking myself completely, I looked out to my surroundings. It would have seemed that I was in some thick section of vegetation, some where seemingly untouched by man. I looked out past the brush and thickets to see a beautiful horizon over a white sanded beach, littered by hunks of burnt metal and ash. Suddenly, heavy thoughts and memories attacked my mind, inducing a terrible headache. I lurched over and grabbed my head as visions of busy airports, rushing ocean, and sudden darkness flushed my mind. My mind... My... Me... Who am I! Who am I! I began panicking once again and punched a tree in frustration, splintering the wood, but ignoring the agony on my knuckles. A name... I have name... M-m-MIKE! That?s it! My name is Mike! Yes, that was it. The panic subsided slightly then. I looked back out to the beach, and started out towards it. The sand felt soothing on my bare feet after walking through the thick woodland. The wreckage from what seemed to be a plane was strewn all across the beach and forest. I decided to follow the wreckage down the beach. As I continued down the beach side, I noticed the red liquid dripping from my hand. I wiped the crimson spill on my slacks and continued on. The pain was nothing, survival was a higher concern. It still troubled me deeply that I could not remember anything. Nothing past my name and what had happened just moments ago. The headache began it?s return, and I clenched my skull again. I forced my eyes open to look onward and in the distance, I could barely make out what seemed to be a small grouping of people... I continued my trek and tried to subside the agony in my head... ------------------------------------------------- If it isn?t obvious, my character is a young man. Around the age of 19, he is aggressive and strong bodied. He is a smart young man, never the less, and is a brave individual. He is, however, short tempered and head strong. This is his major personality fault. Please tell me if there is any thing to be changed.

It's proven that the first Christian Emperor of Rome, Constantine, had the Holy Bible assembled from various different relegious texts which circulated around the known world at the time. There were literally hundreds of texts and scrolls written with Christian intent. So, yes, the Bible was written by men, and assembled by man. The Book of Enoch, The Gospel of Mary, The Gnostic Texts, The Enfancy of Christ, and many more texts all were considered, and denied entry into the book now known as "The Holy Bible". Aswell, I don't think anybody should look into the Bible as a 'literal translation' of what we should do in our lives. If that were so, then men wouldn't shave, women wouldn't cut their hair, and most of the worlds major city's are worse than what was Sodom and Gamora. I think it's more of a spiritual guideline than anything. Also, why is this thread pointing towards the Christian Bible alone? Why not the Kohran? Or the Kabbalah? Or the Buhddist Texts? Agreed. Slightly... Yes. American Comic books and animation are the original inspiration for manga/anime in the first place, so it would not make you seem all the wiser by saying such things. There are several american comic book series/graphic novels which often times, surpass the depth of manga. Examples: Sandman, The Watchmen, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City (and basically everything by Frank Miller), Green Arrow, Ultimate X-Men/Spider-Man/Avengers, V For Vendetta, John Constantine: Hellblazer, and etc. I agree that it is reasonable for people to not like anime/manga. But I agree also that it's not other's place to ridicule a fan of it. I don't make fun of my girlfriend for liking Laguna Beach (well, actually I do) just like I wouldn't make fun of a person who enjoys watching football. So there really is no reason for a person to insult or other wise ridicule another for their fandom of a particular thing. I again, quote myself to say that you just gotta shrug off any nay-sayers, and if they persist, then you could do what I do. Agree with them in what their saying (because I will be the first person to admit that I am a nerd) and tell them to piss off. It's not like their better than you anyways, so I don't see why you would have a reason to let them get a rise out of you. *insert middle finger* and be on with your life.

Agreed. Great American Non-Comedic Cartoons: Heavy Metal Batman The Animated Series Batman Beyond X-Men The Animated Series X-Men Evolution Spider-Man: The Animated Series Transformers (original) G.I. Joe (original) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (original) Teen Titans (more or less) Re-Boot Justice League Justice League Unlimited ---------------------------------------- First hand, people aren't getting made fun of for manga/anime because it is 'non-American', but because it is either considered childish, perverted, or just nerdy. That was a bit of an un-provoked reaction on your part. Please don't ridicule American animation again until you see these shows. Plus... what wrong with comedy?

I'm not very up on most modern bands. Most of them are either terrible Pop/Punk or smug Scene bands. I won't name names, as I see some of these bands on the lists. Most of my tastes in rock music are pre-2000. Nirvana: by far my favorite band out of the '90s. It's unfortunate that they came out in the same year I was born, and it took till a few years after Cobain's death for me to discover them. I love them though. Nevermind is their best album in my mind, and I have listened to it beginning to end on several occasions. Blink 182: along with Green Day and Sum 41, Blink is the only modern punk band (which went commercial) that are actually worth listening to. I enjoy their early work best, but I really havn't heard from them in some time, so... yeah. The same goes for Sum 41. Green Day is another story. Green Day: I actually got into Green Day back on their first album, Dookie. I, however, quickly got annoyed with some of their singles. It took a couple more years and the release of American Idiot for me to get back into them. Queen: Everything Queen has ever done is great. Period. Gods of Rock. Everytime I listen to Bohemian Rhasphody, I get goose bumps... everytime. AC/DC: I don't care what anybody says, if it weren't for AC/DC, we wouldn't have Metallica, Rob Zombie, or Metal in general. They are by far the greatest in this genre. Pink Floyd: These guys and Queen created some of the greatest music of all time. All of their material ended up becoming classics. Dark Side of the Moon, man... Gorillaz: Right now, their the only real band I'm listening to. They blend some of the best of what British rock has to offer and underground hip hop/techno to create the best kind of 'Alternate' rock music ever. I love both of their albums, and I'm still obessessed with Demon Days. Possibly the only rock music that can be danced to without punching another person in the face. Linkin Park: I'm not a HUGE fan of theirs. I have Meteora and I've listened to all of their stuff. I enjoy them mostly for Mike Shinoda and Mr. Han, and their hip hop elements. Their are a few good hooks though. I also like bands such as Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Poison, and such. I'm really much more of a hip hop kinda guy, but I'll listen to just about anything that's good. I'm getting into All American Rejects very slowly. But other than that, not much modern stuff I find to be listenable.

I just caught the first episode for this not to long ago on [adult swim]. Giant Robots and Hover Boards... the only way this could be more awesome is if they added in Chuck Norris, and thats pushing it. Seriously, the animation style and character design hits me as a mix between FMA and FLCL. Very crisp, fluid, and generally pretty. The concept and mecha designs are amazing aswell. Very detailed while still being imaginative/original. I also enjoy the coloring of the whole world around them. Bright and vibrant, just the way I like it. And the animation... FLCL level in quality. Big compliment. The story has me intrigued off the bat. Holland obviously has a relationship with Renton's sister, so I would like to see the uncovered. Also, I want the know the whole deal about the L.F.O.'s and where they came from, seeing as how they weren't originally human creations. I also want to know about Renton's war-hero father, and what this current war is about in the first place. I love the music (which is also remenescent of FLCL) and the voice work is great for every character, with the exception of the series' main character, which is a bit of a gripe. Renton's dub just seems to be hollow when he is angered or speaking loudly. I can get over this, though, if I could get over Naruto. This brings me to my last point, the show's general humor is very good. I was laughing out loud on more than one occasion. All of this is based on the series' first episode. So, I have very high hopes for the future. I'll will definetly be following it for it's entirity.

Where I live, in my small town, I am a catalyst for all who enjoy anime. When I moved here, I got my group of friends and basically introduced them all to anime and mangas such as Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Trigun, and most of all, Naruto. Nearly every male in my school has had some nerdy/dorky/geeky interest. The most popular being Family Guy and Video Games, so nobody really ridicules anybody for liking something such as anime. If I come into school with a new volume of Naruto, it's usually people asking me to borrow it rather than people making fun of me. But then again, I don't do JUST anime and manga. I've proven my, what can I say... non-loser-ness by also being a decent athlete, an avid music fan, and having a good streak with ladies. I've gotten stoners, athletes, gang-bangers, and generally anybody willing to hang with me into some form of anime or manga. Some of them were already into it, and just didn't have anybody to talk to it with. Some of them have never even heard of it. Some of them thought it was stupid. All of them love it now. Example: My best friend is a track distance runner. The guy works out everyday and openly challenges anybody who has the nerve to a fight. When I first met him, he really, really hated me. Now... well, just today he called me on the phone telling me how he just beat Resident Evil 4 on proffesional mode. Example: Stoner friend. Literally smokes a joint every day. What do me and him talk about when we have Geometry together? We debate on who is cooler in Naruto. Gaara or Rock Lee. We both hate Sasuke. Example: My friend Matt. His brother is an active member in the Crips. Matt is a rapper with his own group and CD circulating around town. Matt gets into several fights... like, monthly. If we aren't talking about Music, were having a conversation about Hellsing. I think it helps to have a sort of attitude like, 'Hey, if you don't like my interests, then why don't you **** off?'. I don't let people intimidate or bother me over what I'm into, and I'll stand up to anyone who ridicules me, however, no body ever has over my interest in manga/anime/videogames. I guess you should just have a mind set where you really don't care what other people say, and let them know that you don't. And if any person you meet has an open mind, then introduce them to it. Atleast, that's what I think. "Hey Loser... why you reading that stupid stuff?" "Cuz I feel like it." "Your such a nerd dude." "Yeah... your probably right..." "...." (End of Conversation.)

The Battle for San Fransisco The year was U.C. 0079. The war between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation had been going on for sometime now. Zeon forces had already invaded the North American continent and were deeply rooted in several major cities on the continent. The city of San Fransisco, California in the U.S. was currently under conflict for control. The battles had just started and Federation Mobile Suit units were on the look out for Zeon insurgence. Little did any of them know, that a Zeon ace squad was on their way to take the city by themselves. Using a radar-disrupting tank as back up, the squad slowly moved into the city, undetected... --------------------------------------------- Okay, it'll be me and you vs. our NPC partners at first, we'll lay waste to them at first, then we'll have at each other. --------------------------------------------- Sign-Ups Character Name/Rank: Character Description: (physical description) Mobile Suit: (pic please) MS Weapons: (be reasonable) Short Bio: (very short) ------------------------------------------ Character Name/Rank: Sergeant 1st Class Michael Arestos Character Description: 25 years old. He wears his uniform loosely, currently wearing his jacket around his waist and his pants jacked down slightly due to the hot California sun. He has a symbol of Zeon tattooed on his right shoulder, and wears a silver cross around his neck. He has a very fierce appearance, as is his attitude in battle. Mobile Suit: MS-07B3 Gouf Custom MS Weapons: 35mm gatling cannon x 3 Heat Saber Bandaleer of Flash Grenades Short Bio: Sergeant Arestos is a master pilot. Piloting his beloved Custom Gouf is the main purpose of this point in his life. He was raised on the original Zeon space colony, and lived for the cause of Zeon's liberation. His only wish is to see the Principality achieve it's final goal, and to live a life under the Zeonic flag. Sieg Zeon.

My favorite movies go by genre. For comedy, it would basically be anything by Kevin Smith. My two favorites from him are his original flic, Clerks and his last film in that whole arc, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Clerks is by far the most original comedy I've ever seen. It's whole premise is a single day in the shoes of two friends who run a convience store/video rental shop. It provided me with some of my favorite moments ever. One of my favorite being the Death Star conversation held between the two main characters. The ladder film, is by far on a larger scale and has a more 'over the top' sense of humor. Like a modern day, hyper vulgar, Monty Python. I have rememorized the first 15 minutes of this film. I can recite them on command. I've seen the whole movie atleast 25 times. For action, it would have to be the Kill Bill series. Not because it has 'amazing special effects' or anything. It just has a terrific storyline and very cool/unique characterization. It makes you genuinley care about the main character and Bill is by far the baddest mo-fo this side of Chuck Norris. The final fight scene, however breif, was extremely cool. I also enjoyed the Matrix trilogy. As much slandering it takes for the latter films, I really don't care. I thoroughly enjoyed all three. If westerns were a category, then hands down it would be the "Man With No Name" trilogy done by Clint Eastwood. All of them are classics. Applying to Kung Fu films, I have several. The most recent are Kung Fu Hustle and Hero. The fight between the Hero and Sky in the film's beginning was the greatest. I also enjoyed Twin Warriors alot. But out of all, any film by Bruce Lee out performs all. He was truely an amazing martial artist and performer. That is all for now.

Things I forgot to say: I am a huge Hip Hop fan. I listen to mostly southern hip hop. Houston, Atlanta, and Memphis all produce great MC's, but my favorite rappers are Jay-Z, KRS-One, and The Game. I have two younger brothers. A 13 year old one and a 7 year old one. Neither really listen to me. I have a pet cat named Ryan, who is by far the coolest pet I've ever had. I also have a dog (lab/basset hound mix) who is a little off kilter. It doesn't listen to me either. I'm often considered a lady's man... I'm not sure why. My style is a kind of 'I don't really care' hip hop. My major group of friends are a group of nerds who can beat up people who call them nerds. I'm not joking. One of them can squat three times his body weight. I can pop 'n' lock, which is a form of breakdancing where you don't spin around on the ground or do flips. I plan on majoring in film when I get out of high school. I also have a reputation as the best Halo 2/Soul Calibur 3/Def Jam: Fight For NY player in my area. I also just started fiddling around with Microsoft Picture It! So, expect some graphic art stuff from me sometime. Yeah. That's the rest of me.
