1.
Hey. Call me Shadedagger, Maelorya, Mae, Lo-lo, Shade.. But I am a Bandit. You can call me that too. I.. I like to RP. It's an escape for me. And seeing as I tend to escape a lot, i've gotten a little better over the years. I like to write, too. My home site is somewhere i've been since I was a wee nipper at the age of eleven, and other than Gaia, this is the first time i've ventured away from it. xD So.. please, be kind.
I think I'll call you Benjamin.
2.
Can't say as I did, no. So I watched the House Bunny yesterday, mainly because I discovered that Kat Dennings and Emma Stone were in it, and my huge crushes on the both of them compelled me too. It was funny, which is much more than I was expecting. As a side note, this was the latest in a line of "girls getting makeover" movies where I found the girls infinitely more attractive before the makeover.
I'm dissapointed in you...
3. A Skylit Drive's new album, Adelphia. Also: from their previous album, Wires... And The Concept Of Breathing. They are, amongst the post-hardcore stock, a stand out in my opinion. They have a very talented, original sounding lead singer, their screams are distinctive, and their drumming is unorthodox for the genre and I really enjoy it. Also the drummer screams a bit along with the bassist. Good band.
4. You forgot Farah and David.
5. Vocalists/Lyrcists: Leo Miller of Animosity Mitch Lucker of Suicide Silence Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon Guitarists: Frank Costa of Animosity Lee Malia of Bring Me The Horizon Bass: Dan Kenny of Suicide Silence Drums: Alex Lopez of Suicide Silence Production Team: Jay-Z 3OH!3 Vincent Bennet of The Acacia Strain The Sound: Brutal, fast-paced, balls to the wall death metal and hardcore filled with complicated rythmns, gut-busting breakdowns, and vocal battles in the vein of The Beastie Boys using the three best vocalists in the genre. Add all that together and you have a band I would sell my soul to.
6. (Oh snap, old thread is old.) I listen to a bit of everything, but predominately, I listen to the following: Hardcore Punk See: Gallows, Minor Threat, Black Flag Death Metal See: Decapitated, Behemoth, Vader Deathcore See: Animosity, Bring Me The Horizon, Suicide Silence Metalcore See: Parkway Drive, I Killed The Prom Queen, Sea Of Treachery Melodic Death Metal See: At The Throne Of Judgement, The Black Dahlia Murder, Wretched Hip Hop See: Jay-Z, Hieroglyphics, Lupe Fiasco Dance/Electro See: Justice, The Blood Beetroots, MSTRKRFT Screamo See: The Locust, Circle Takes The Square, Attack Attack! Emo See: Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, Fall Out Boy Post-Hardcore See: A Skylit Drive, Glassjaw, Four Letter Lie Pop-Punk See: Blink-182, Four Year Strong, A Day To Remember Classic Metal See: Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden Mathcore See: The Fall Of Troy, War From A Harlot's Mouth, Poison The Well
7. You already know the score with me, Nomurah. But you should just change it to "Hardcore and Subsequent Genres" or "Extreme Music", cuz I wanna talk about A Day To Remember and At The Gates and Vader and Decapitated and Gallows. Silly.
8.
oh and p.s- any kids that want something than different then old hardcore punk and metalcore or deathcore... check out new hardcore. Have Heart. Black My Heart. Hoods. Stick to Your Guns. First Blood. Trash Talk. Thick as Blood.
Add Four Year Strong to that list and you got yourself something.
9. I've been listening to alot of this lately: Sweet, beautiful chaos. I love it. Classic Hardcore. Oh yes.
10. I bought the first season of the HBO original series True Blood on DVD two days ago, and started watching it with my girlfriend yesterday. We haven't really watched anything else so far. It's such a great freakin' show. It's probably the best thing that's happened for vampire film/television in several years, and has helped me forget all about that Twlight crap. Being both a southerner and a fan of vampire stuff, I'm super impressed and highly pleased. Eric, the vampire sheriff of Area 5 is also a supreme badass despite the fact that he has yet to do really much of anything action wise on screen. Great show. Amazing. I can't wait to watch season two.
11. These three songs on repeat pretty much... That's about it.
12.
I have a confession to make. Earlier today there was a thread on /mu/ with a picture of Hybrid Theory and the assertion that everybody still had that entire CD memorized. Now, since my parents didn't want me listening to such extreem rock musics as Linkin Park way back when, I never got to buy Hybrid Theory and only had the few songs I could scrape up off Kazaa (I'd also listen to it at my best friend's house). By the time Meteora came out, though, said friend had a CD burner, so that was the LP album of my youth. Anyway, point is that I (and everyone else in the thread) realized that the OP was completely right-- I still knew that album word for word. The rose-colored glasses were driving everyone insane, someone must have been passing around some internet LSD or something, and, well... album downloads started happening. While everyone else got Hybrid Theory, I grabbed Meteora. I played that **** for hours. And I enjoyed it. Not because LP is a good band, but because those early albums are an atomic nostalgiabomb. My inner seventh grader had risen, and he was going to tear it up the only way he knew how--angsty rap-rock. It was great. I think I've gotten it out of my system for now, but I'm still keeping the album in my library. The point is, on the off-chance that you've ever felt like taking me seriously or respecting me at all, this is a sign that you shouldn't.
You aren't alone. I still remember all the words to Hybrid Theory and alot to Meteroa. The same goes for, get ready for it, Limp Bizkit. I still remember alot of the words from Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. Yep, I sure do. Which is why I love this so much: Classic song from a nostalgiac band from my youth by a modern group that I was already a fan of. Awesome.
13.
Disney is pretty fun, although I love the fact that the LAA Angels AND the mighty Ducks are within driving distance. Zen, next time you go to Anaheim, go to the Baker's Square. Frickin Awesome pie there dude. Like, above Vilkage Inn status.
I went to Florida. I guess that's Disney World, my B. Haha.
14. I've been listening to my generation's coolest band, A Day To Remember all day long. Particularly these songs: An anthemic jam that's required to be sung along with at shows. One of their heavier songs, with possibly the most monstrous breakdown possible for a band outside of death metal. A semi-acoustic duet with the female vocalist of VersaEmerge. A really pretty tune that instantly makes me miss my girlfriend and envokes alot of emotion in me. Possibly the most diverse, and still coherent bands around. People can say iwrestledabearonce is diverse, but this band actually makes me feel, deeply, with their music. And not just emotions like aggression and anger, but also love and happiness, and sadness. And that's something I can't say for any other band out right now. Please, give them a listen. Unless you have negative taste in music.
15. A more recent picture of me wearing a ridiculously tight t-shirt of mine. Also some attached pictures of my adventure to Disneyland.
16. I'm audtioning from my friends' band this week as lead vocalist/screamer (they are a melodic metalcore-band, ala Parkway Drive/Black Dahlia Murder). I have high hopes, cuz the other guy auditioning, who is also a friend of far more experience, is already in a band and is particularly pickey about what he plays in, where is I'll take whatever I can get and do whatever is asked of me. Wish me luck. If I don't get it then I'm going to start posting on MySpace and Craigslist as "vocalist searching for/looking to start a band". I was, once long ago, part of a hip hop side project of local indie-pop band Hello Tomorrow called Five-Point Palm (named after the exploding heart technique featured in the film Kill Bill). Yes, I was a rapper. A damn good one too. We recorded about five songs, but we never performed. However I did perform with their band on a few occasions in one of their songs that I remixed, and as a closer with the drummer, where I'd rap a verse whilst he made a beat. Good times. God, I hope I get to make music soon again.
17.
The Devil Wears Prada is amazing. I have one of their shirts, with a giant monster spitting pink goo onto an airplane... love it. I plan on buying the new album by them soon. Still Fly is pretty awesome. There's a DWP, shirt in this magazine I have. It has Reptar on it from the Rugrat's. I want it sooooo bad.
As in "Reptar, King of the Ozone", one of their song titles.
18. I'm pretty happy with my current whip which is a 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (stock with premium Boston Acoustics sound system, Sirius Satellite Radio, and special edition, red and black stain and odor resistant seats). But if I had to have a 'dream' car, without gas prices being a problem, then it would definetly be: The 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with this: in the trunk. Yeeeep. But it's more than likely I'd be arrested if I owned this....
19. TomTom Navigation System Sirius Satellite Radio (built-in) Zune with Auxiliary plug. Martial Arts uniforms and training equipment. Other than that I'm trying to keep my car clean.
20.
btw. have you noticed the new devils wear prada cd seems a bit more hardcore-ish? I think I'm diggin it.
Which is why I like it alot. I've liked DWP for a while, and especially their "Still Fly" cover off Punk Goes Crunk, which is my favorite song by them. Ever. But I've always liked heavier bands in our particular music scene, so I'm liking the change alot. I've also fallen into a slight phase of electronica and dance music, leaving my car statined to Sirius's BPM station whenever I'm not listening to my Zune through the auxiliary jack.
21.
Attack Attack is amazing. I'm heartily in love with them. Right now? The new devil wears prada cd. & Aside from that cd, I'm inlove with the song "Gettin Mine" but Al Kapone from that show 5 dollar cover, the only ep I've seen though is the one with the song in it. uhh. yes I'm aware I have really odd taste in music.
*high fives* You got good taste as well. As for me, I've been listening to a good bit of August Burns Red recently. A punishing metalcore band with a positive message from Syracuse, NY. Particularly enjoying the songs "Your Little Suburbia Is In Ruins" and "Barbarian". Along with them, I've been listening to more of The Fall of Troy. I picked up their album Doppleganger today along with Oceano's album Depths (though they are kind of standard deathcore to me, and don't offer much of anything that's new). Just got done downloading a butt-load of vintage Brand New and Taking Back Sunday. I also listened to The Devil Wears Prada's new album With Roots Above And Branches Below from front to back today. Good album, great. Even as a Buddhist, I really enjoy them (same goes for Christian outfit UnderOATH). It was a good day in music.
22. Watching Deadliest Warrior on SpikeTV, which is currently one of the coolest shows on TV. Two days ago I watched Pan's Labyrinthe for the first time and loved it. Alot.
23.
Bro, Ashleys Here, By Attack Attack! And you know what, its not that bad! Thanks Zen!
The whole album is pretty good to me. But you're welcome.
24.
In fact, I think I'm going to listen to Bring me the Horizon becase I love them. For Stevie Wonder's Eyes Only, Pray for Plagues, A Lot Like Vegas and their cover of Slipnot's Eyeless are great tunes.
BMTH is one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of most of their stuff. "Off The Heezay", "Eyeless", "Chelsea Smile", "The Comedown", etc. Great band, I own like three of their shirts. I really want to see them live.
25.
I meant "make something spectacular of themselves" musically, not as it pertains to the state of actually being in a band. It seems like in most of the stuff nowadays, there's no honest passion behind the aggression--it's just being fast and heavy for the sake of being fast and heavy, and I prefer to listen to something that in some way, any way, justifies the aggression it displays. In fact, it was reading Minor Threat's lyrics and several of the early bands' stories that drew me to the genre when I had barely heard any of the music at all.
Well, the bands that I listen to in particular seem to have the passion thing down in my mind. There's alot of raw fury and anger in almost all of it. Like this song: The intense anger is pretty evident to me. But maybe it's just not for you.
