Swine Flu

I've had the flu maybe twice in my whole life that I can remember, one of which was in basic training, where hygiene is a luxury, and infectious diseases like pink eye and the cold spread like wildfire. So I'm not to concerned with catching this. However, it has been recently brought to my attention that there have been two reported outbreaks in my state, in Newberry and Greenville, which are both about an hour or more drive away from my city. While I do live near the capital (urban sprawl) I'm not extremely concerned. My immune system is pretty strong and the military immunized me for every disease this side of the Nile river when I was in basic not six months ago.

  5.
snus... i have heard oth tht... someone sed tht it taste like gum n u can swallow it, ive yet to try it myself tho ;)
Yes and yes, though after about a half-hour (the recommended usage time on the back of the tin) it begins to get that tobacco flavor and it gives you that weird feeling in your throat like normal dip spit, so yeah. After that I recommend either spitting or taking it out and getting a new pouch. The pouches are really small, so I dip two at a time like I do with Skoal.
  6.
The heavy burden that must weigh down on their concience must be almost unbearable, or the person assisting isn't worthy of being even human. However, If the person is legitimately suffering, up the ****ing pain meds. Suicide is never right, but I can place no fault on those who are dying, and will die no matter what. I might very well do it myself to spare the ones I love from seeing me and causing them more pain.
I just can't agree with this statement. My grandmother died of lung cancer extremely slowly, and I watched the entire withering away process. And if I ever did contract that disease, I'll be damned if I put my family through the heartache and financial stress that such a condition involves. Not to say that I wanted my grandmother to prematurely terminate, because I loved her and I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. Sure, I would've been heart-broken if she died either way, but I wouldn't have been angry or more depressed if she had saved herself the misery. But at the same time, she went through so much physical pain, humiliating circumstances, and psychological anguish that I would never wish that upon any person. For a person to want to end their suffering sooner with dignity before they're left at a point where they need a person's help just to use the bathroom, that's not cowardly, that's just a choice. There isn't bravery or honor in dying slowly and painfully and humiliated, all at the extreme expense of your loved ones. This is an issue ruled greatly by religious and moral opinions. My religion, while it values life greatly, doesn't really frown on suicide so much. Death is a tragedy for the living, of course. To those left behind, it hurts, but its also selfish to demand a person to live through misery and pain simply because "aw, you'll miss them". The situation does become complicated when a person has people financially dependant on them, but if your terminally ill or so mentally unstable that you can't function in normal society, I don't see that being an issue. I always said that if I were to be stricken with an terminal illness, I would do something, I don't know what, to give myself a choice in my death rather than falling victim to the slow and inevitable future. I'd rather die in a way of my choosing. Not to say that I'm suicidal now, or that I don't value my life or the lives of others, but after a certain extent, the choice to die should be given to a person. Unless you can honestly call a person who is living in complete agony and misery a coward for wanting that to stop. In which case, I just could not respect that opinion.

    Memoria [Spar]

It's been a while since I've done this. Hope I havn't lost my touch. Name: Daniel “Danny Boy” Black Age: 24 Appearance: Personality: Light-hearted and hungry for a fight, Danny always carries an excited aggression beneath the surface all the while maintaining a careless, fun-loving air amongst himself. Danny never questions the consequences of any of his action, giving no thought to life or death in his existence. His only guides are his curiosity and thirst for a challenge. Weapons: Danny’s only weapon is himself, a weapon which he has mastered thoroughly in every martial discipline. A true expert of the striking arts and grappling arts, he is a dangerous opponent as long as he’s in arms (or legs) reach of his opponent. While this obviously posses a reach disadvantage, Danny’s evasive footwork skills and maneuvering, combined with near super-human speed and athleticism, more than make up for his choice of weapon. Specifically, Danny’s martial styles are a combination of western Boxing, Muay Thai kickboxing, Freestyle Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Sambo submission grappling. Despite his multiple mastery of several martial arts, he carries himself lazily and his fighting stance looks just as relaxed, even ramshackle, which often leads his opponents to underestimate him. Powers: Danny is at the peak of human conditioning, and on top of this, he possesses extremely acute senses, a keen sense of timing and amazing intuition, bordering on the precognitive. These are all enhanced by the blood-lust and adrenalin-rush triggered by combat, allowing him to effectively become a human whirlwind of motion and attack, difficult to perceive, and near impossible to fight. In the heat of battle, Danny's speed and strength can only be described as "superhuman". Memory/ Aspiration/ Manifestation of Memory: Danny remembers his hand being raised in the air by a man in a striped shirt, in the middle of a octagonal-cage. He’s surrounded by hundreds, possibly thousands, of cheering people. The smell of blood is still fresh in his nose, his body is hot and damaged, but he feels no pain. The feeling of victory and pride fill his heart as a belt of leather and gold is wrapped around his waist. Writing Snippet: Danny’s eyes were excited saucers in his head as he watched the chaos erupt around him, confused as he was, his mind of was quickly distracted by the violence which he was anxious to take part in. Not for any insidious reason, just for the fun of it. He looked down to his fists and noticed that they were already wrapped for fighting. “Wellain’tthatconvenient...” he said to himself out loud in his thickly-accented Irish fast talk. After speaking, a small group of men began stumbling back towards Danny, three men wearing various strange outfits and wielding ancient weapons. “Heyugly! Yourmothercalled! Shesaidshewantsherlefthookback!” The three fighters continued fighting, paying no attention to Danny’s taunts. “I-said! HEY! UGLY!” Suddenly, one of the fighting warriors, dressed in a set of ancient Chinese armor, swung his halberd in a broad, arching stroke towards Danny’s head. Danny swiftly ducked low, and popped his head back up, grinning happily. “Nowthat’swhatI’mtalkingaboutJackie!” The Chinese warrior swung his halberd in a back-motion in the same direction, however, this time Danny ducked under with a low-wrestling sweep and slid-forward on his left knee, stepping forward with his right and making contact with his shoulders on the warrior’s hips, grappling the warrior’s legs behind the knee with his arms. With a great thrust forward, Danny lifted his opponent high off the ground, and brought him crashing down sideways, hard. With a powerful slam, Danny smashed the warrior into the ground. Without skipping a beat, he brought his knee down onto his opponent’s chest, sticking his opposite leg out for stability, and cocked his fist back. “Saygoodnightm’boy!” Danny said, and before the Chinese warrior had even regained his bearing from the wrestling slam, Danny crashed his fist into the section of exposed face in the Chinese warrior’s helmet, knocking him unconscious immediately. Standing back up, Danny dusted himself off and looked to the other two fighters, now stunned at the ease with which he'd just distpatched his opponent. Danny cracked his neck and tossed both hands up in a playful fashion. "Wellwhichofyouladiesarenext?" he said with a swift tongue. Both warriors simply looked at him dumb-struck and confused. Judge: If I could find the time, I’d be happy to. I should be able to make judge a few.

Season 3: Hell yeah. Venture Bros. is my favorite American animated series by far. Better than any comedy series on Adult Swim currently or in the past, in my opinion (including Family Guy). Smart, funny, clever, and super original. If you grew up watching Johnny Quest re-runs like I did, then it's extra awesome, considering Race Bannon is an actual character in the series. I own all the DVDs, and I watched the commentary tracks recently. Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick are funny guys in conversation with each other and were highly entertaining. Also Doc Hammer sounds exactly like Henchman #21, whom he, of course. voices. But you only need one reason to watch the Venture Bros, really... 10. Sea of Treachery, an awesome, trash-heavy, young, deathcore band who's songs are like a mix of At The Throne Of Judgement and A Day To Remember. I love them. Particularly their beast cover of "Misery Business" by Paramore. Check that stuff out. Flips the song on its head. And I don't mind Paramore.
  11. I'm not a huge fan of smoking, but I do use Skoal and Snus from time to time, very infrequently, so it being slightly more expensive isn't an enormous concern for me, being that I'm such an infrequent user. I might buy one tin and it'll last me like a week or two. It's a terrible and digusting habit (dipping I mean, smoker's don't bother me) so I try to keep it in check. After dipping, smoking just doesn't do it for me, and I don't like the ash-taste it leaves in my mouth.
  12. The Lonely Island. Manage to be catchy, funny, and not annoying at all. The exact opposite of Weird Al. Favorite song by far, "I'm On A Boat" ft. T-Pain. I love you Adam Samberg.
  13.
I actually think this place has changed a ton. I don't know about you guys, but it doesn't feel the same to me, and I'm one of the oldest members here amongst a few of you.
Agreeing oldie is agreeing
  14. I have a sort-of job/apprenticeship at Columbia Martial Arts & Fitness where I'm their new assistant instructor for children's classes. In return, instead of pay, I train in their adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Mixed Martial Arts/Muay Thai classes for free. Keeps me busy and in amazing amounts of pain.

  16. An evening of love-making with my lovely girlfriend. Or just being with her. She's, as they say, a real peach. I am very much in love. Also. Going out to a really good local music show with my friends.

  19.
Most big Christian holidays are somehow based around some kind of Pagan holiday somewhere down the line. Don't believe me? Look up what "Yule" means.
Almost all modern western holidays are. They just tag a Saint's name or add something to do with Jesus to it. Also Halloween. The only one that comes to mind that's pretty much original is St. Patrick's Day. And we celebrate that by getting super ****-faced.
  20.
Like many others here, I don't. It's just another Sunday. About the only difference is I'll spend time with my family since they do like to celebrate it. Though usually my involvement is merely going over for dinner and to catch up on how everyone is doing.
Same. Coming from a Greek Orthodox/Southern Baptist household, Easter is a big deal with my family, and I'm happy to participate in a family dinner or help them hide Easter eggs or something. Easter and Christmas are more like family/cultural holidays for me, since my family celebrates it, and I'm not Christian, I just take part in the non-religious aspects of it, like the candy and gift-giving. And to be honest, I wouldn't want my kids to go without those kind of things either.
  21.
Saw them live last month actually, one of the best shows I've seen in a while. They're not one of my favorite bands, but I won't doubt that they're good at what they do. :] Lately, all I've listened to is Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party, and quite a few hardcore bands like Have Heart and Black My Heart. Add Emmure, Carnifex, and Embrace the End to that as well.
I get to see them at a show next tuesday with Dance Gavin Dance and A Skylit Drive. I'm very excited. Also, Carnifex and Emmure are super awesome. I commend you, sir.
  22. There's a character in the Neil Gaiman book American Gods based off of the above opinion. She's very offended the Christians stole her day.
  23. Naruto. Oh the memories.
  24. I've been listening to alot of At The Thrones Of Judgement, a fantastically epic death metal/deathcore band who's songs are usually about things ranging from Ancient Rome to Egyptian mythology to Pirates. Brutality reigns. Also started listening to Drop Dead, Gorgeous, a boat I am late to jump on. But with song titles like "Knife vs. Face: Round 1" how could I not listen to them?
  25. You can't blame the man! He obviously has PTSD from his war on zombies. The guy should be glad Woody didn't lobotomize him.
