Also I have to point out something and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that transponder snail still broadcasting to the world while this transpires??? When Gol D Roger made a proclaimation like that it started the Great Pirate Era and now this this event being seen by everyone won't it create a second wave in the Great Pirate Era??? I can only imagin the impact of these events.
That is EXACTLY why he said it. Not only was Gol D. Roger his biggest rival, he was also a good friend (in a similar fashion to Garp, I would suppose, without the whole I-gotta-lock-you-up facet to the relationship). He understood the actions of Roger on his execution day and was there to witness how vastly different the world had become pre- and post-Pirate Age.
Since he's already going down for the count, he might as well make the best of it to stick it to the World Government for long after he's died.
...and speaking of which, I have to agree with Ace on the
thing about turning Whitebeard's corpse into a permanent reminder of how the World Government sucks zombie balls.
It would be so totally badass that you would need some damn mighty high levels of Haki to even approach the thing, let alone touch it. In good ol' Buggy fashion though, the clown'd take the credit. Seriously, I can see the guy coming out of this as a feared and respected pirate all through pure blunder, mishap, luck and taking credit where it is not due. Now Luffy's got even more riding on his back though, the poor kid.
Roger, Ace AND Whitebeard? Those are some shoes to fill and memories to honor.
He can do it though, unlike Teach. I've seen him as a foil to Luffy for a while, but this really cemented it if there were any doubts. To quote Ace from a while back:
Yeah, they pretty much established that Haki lets you touch Logia users back in Shabaody. Which reminds me, Rayleigh is a badass and I want to see more of him. Anyway, Whitebeard of all people should probably have that power. Strongest man in the world and all that.

Eff. Yes. You slice that little punk up. I'm hoping that Teach's arm doesn't fully recover from this... because I just think that'd be an awesome touch.
Since we've got that out of the way, I'm curious as to how long it'll take for the shippers to violate
young!Newgate and his familial dreams.
Next week can't come soon enough. -
I really don't like these double spreads. But for the first time it's a lot more clearer in this chapter than the others. It always seemed so cluttered to the point it was hard to tell what was going on.
I know what you mean about the double-page spreads, but I found that, in the current arc at least, they helped to convey the panicked, uncertain, here-there-everywhere, chaotic feeling that being in such a situation would entail. They pretty much worked for me, with the exception that I got to scroll around to read everything, but that's just me being lazy. ^^' -

So, guess who just read the new chapter guys!? *points thumbs at self* Oh yeah! Holy eff. For one, the series is going on break next week... as if it wasn't enough to leave us with a cliffhanger for a week, Oda's gotta make it two. Ffffff... ...but I digress.
Whitebeard and Akainu duking it out and then OMFGZHAHAHAHABLACKBEARD just totally blew me away. Who are those people and how in the hell did he get the time to recruit them... if he had just done the recruiting recently, at least, and I'm in disbelief that a girl actually went near him long enough to be recruited and Whitebeard earthquaking everyone away from the battle and poor Luffy and
... *breathes* Yeah... it's pretty crazy. Someone should really count how many double-page spreads are in the Marineford Arc... 'cause I'm sure the number is getting pretty high up there. -
Now if I could only figure out a way to convince myself that losing him was somehow relevant to the story's grander scheme.
I hope that it makes
Luffy
a little more tough and badass and the like. I mean, it has to be for something. Oda can't even pull a background character without it being important... so this just has to be big... like, major-big. Doesn't make it any less sad though. -
This amuses me in a sick sort of way. I mean... they're always finding new ways to mess with students these days. Gotta feel sorry for the girl; that's a suspension and fine at the most.

Nehszriah replied to Tatsubei Yagyu's topic in Otaku Central
OMG I'M POSTING XD You guys pretty much summed up my reactions to this week's chapter. I was pretty shocked at the ending, because the
magma > fire
thing DOES feel like a cop-out and
I really, really, really want some intervention on someone else's part so that Ace friggin' lives
. If something like that doesn't happen, it better darn well fit in some sort of broad spectrum that we can't see right now because the story is so friggin' huge. I'm also kinda wanting that flashback that was hinted at during the end of 572... because I'm a sucker. XD -
Wait a second... I just realized I cannot do this. I'll be gone for a while once the weekend comes. D: I'm an idiot; sorry.

I'll give it a try. Sign me up, please?

Anime: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Act of Vengeance: Simon beating on the Ganmen from episode nine/ten. Level of Vengeance: 4.9 Why: After
Kamina dies, Simon find almost no reason for either himself or Beastmen to live
. Because of this, Simon does some high-quality arse-kicking which seems to be beyond all logical reason. This would have been a 9.2 or something, had Simon
not turned into the emo little slouch he did
. How's that, Shiggy Lemons?

Oi, did you guys read 486? Absolom's newspaper made me want to cry. ...though I do have to give it to Zoro for his recent exploits. He's such a loyal nakama, it's unreal. -

Too bad Oda pulled a fast one on us over what you just said Aceburner. Worst Boss Battle... ever. I mean, Crocodile and Lucci were bad, but not like this.
Shadows Asgard... my *ss. Come on! Why can't the bugger stay down?!
-
I'll agree that Peter's pretty gullible, but I think Maya kinda rivals him.
She was just STANDING THERE ALL SMILES when Sylar was calling Mohinder from the apartment. I know she's foreign and for some reason is gullible enough to trust the man, but wouldn't our dearest Molly send a red flag or two in the air?
That seriously creeped me out. Plus how the show seems to be pairing them is just wierd.

I listen to tons of techno when I am with my friends, but I rarely ever learn the names of the artists. I can say though, that I've grown attached to Röyksopp, a Nordic electronic group. I'm also, for some strange reason, drawn towards Globe, the band that did the Cyborg 009 themes. I've also got some techno mixes of "Ghostbusters" and some Rammstein songs that I am highly attached to... and Linkin Park. Their half-techno-half-rap remix album was too much fun for me to pass on.

And I'm so irritated that Kaito didn't reveal his power. He confirmed that he had one, but didn't show it! Blargh!

Yeah! I didn't like that either. I remember
back when we were discussing if he was Kensei or not and totally wanting him to have a power, just not Kensei's.
It would be a bit redundant now.
Maybe Noah's making everyone believe that he's dead, ala Haitian's mad ability to disappear when needed?
Mohinder just gets easily played, as book-smarts obviously is not the same thing as street-smarts.
Matt makes me laugh and shout things about going to join Darth Maury over on the Dark Side.
Also, I believe that
somehow the writers and/or Kring are trying to make West into something semi-acceptable
Didn't he seem different?
Hiro's bit in the ultra-past was kinda sappy and lame. It did what it had to do, but it was too quick about it. At least now we know where his mom is. Plus it was kind of obvious that Adam was Kaito's killer.
Now if only there was no stupid strike. They're trying to choke us all until only the tried and true remain.

Are you ready for some (American) Football?
How do you know that Hell isn't a code word for Texas? Because that hasn't frozen over yet.
Touche. You have me there. I still have my paper bag ready for next afternoon. Every time it seems like we get a speck of talent or a possible break, the talent is just sucked from the players and is returned once they leave the Lions system. Maybe we won't have too much of a hard time against the Giants if Kitna actually does his job and tries for a little bit of a play variety. Can't he run the ball? My brother doubts he can. -
I'm not quite good at defining "cyberpunk" as an entire genre quite yet, but I'll do my best. Forgive me for potentially not keeping anime on-to-near-target. I'm usually into more shonen anime, but still want to help. Just about anything Satoshi Kon has done leaves me with a grin on my face and a little bit of a WTF-like thought in my brain, so I certainly back up Dagger's reccomendation of Paranioa Agent. Similar feelings on 009-1, although I have to take a stand for the precursor, Cyborg 009. The English dub's a little iffy now that I go back and rewatch some of the episodes, but the story is pretty fun and depending on which verison you get, the backgrounds of the characters differ. Although the story is not like a prologue to 009-1, both have similar elements such as visual effects and international intrigue. Just skip the parts about the "Greek Gods". They were the only unnecessary things in my eyes. Than again, that's just opinion. You might like them. s-CRY-ed is kinda cool if you think about it like a Japanese version of X-men. I like the manga better than the anime though, as the manga art is more detailed and things like that. Hmm... would the almost-mecha shows Eureka seveN and RahXephon count? Eureka seveN was pretty good at keeping my attention while it ran on the television, despite the boy-meets-girl undertones. It had some pretty deep thinking and politics woven in and out throughout the story. I never did finish RahXephon though, but that was also good at keeping my eyeballs glued to the television. Not many mecha shows can do that, as I am the one who is bored by Gundam for no apparent reason. I also have the first disc of Innocent Venus on my bed, waiting to be watched so that I can give it back to my friend who loaned it to me a few weeks ago. I watched the first episode and thought it was fairly spiffy, but one episode isn't an entire series. I hope that was of at least some help.

I do not know whether I should be more shocked or proud of Tim Kring over the apology he issued. Usually those in entertainment only apologize if they have to and otherwise some court-order will come down hard on them. The fact he apologized for the season's dreadful run gives me more hope for next season. Things would just be better if West was gone... or better yet:
have the boy kissing Claire in the painting be Zach as a consoling act because he finally found where his good friend ran off to and he comes across her crying 'cause her dad's dead and 'cause he's Zach, he can't stand to see her cry.
I still think that the season finale will not end the run of Monica's story arc, as well as Adam's or Peter's and I have a feeling that if
the virus business
is not altered soon, it will become the next "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World." Then I would laugh... heartily.

Tch. All I know is that I am amazed at how well my hometown Lions are doing. While I'll admit that they've never been very good, and probably won't be for a much longer time to come, but being 6-3 and undefeated in their division isn't all that bad. We might be able to take the paper bags off of our heads this year and squint int the sunlight... ...and too bad I can't use the cliche "When Hell freezes over" to talk about when the Lions'll make it to the Superbowl. Hell, MI freezes over every winter. -
No, no, I definately remember he was in Cricket's place. Maybe it's my memory acting up over the exact place, but it was certainly after Funimation took over.

Naruto's cool and all, but I'll agree that the fillers are a drag... plus a select number of the fans creep me out. Nothing personal; they just do. Oh, did anyone else catch a couple weeks or so ago that there was one shot where Sanji was still smoking? I can't remember exactly when it was anymore, but my brother and I were laughing so hard it hurt. I want to see the good ol' boys in Mariejoa and Shanks's crew. That ought to be a treat.
My big question is what powers Bob, Hiro's father and Nathan's mother have?
*raises hand* Pardon, but
Bob has the ability of elemental transmutation (or alchemy or even the "Midas Touch" if you wish). He turned a ordinary spoon, probably stainless steel or silver in original nature, into gold right before Mohinder's eyes in Cairo. I think it was Cairo. Yeah.
I can't help you on the other two quite yet, Gunslinger. I do like your
Claire-Adam-relation
theory. That's just what that whiny brat needs:
another surprise relative.
I have no idea why I never put two and two together.
I sort of always have had the feeling that "the drunk Brit" would make it to the future, but I never really thought of him being Monroe.
I did the whole fangasm-squealing thing to boot when I found out. I felt like last night's episode is probably the best of the season so far, or at least pretty close.
Leaving Caitlin in the future, Peter being not as lost-puppy-ish, the almost killing off of Nikkica, Matt owning his dad and then getting rid of West for what is hopefully forever?
Nehszriah like. The only bad part was now we have an inkling
that Momo has to point that gun to Noah. Noah's too badass to die at the hands of Momo.
I hope that's just my mind messing with me. By the way, did anyone happen to read last week's webcomic and see the extra picture? It was of two random people, but it changed after a while to I think Claire. Is that normal?

Matt's dad is going to be a great villain. Now, it's Elle I can't stand.
