Hi all, since spring/summer are the best seasons for concerts (at least in my hometown) i was wondering what concerts you all have been to lately? how would you describe the shows? for me, i just went to a Stereolab concert on the 31st and they were every bit as good as i could've ever imagined. also i just went to a Modest Mouse show last night, and although they had 2 incredibly ****** opening bands, Modest Mouse themselves were AWESOME!!! and on top of that im gonna go see Metric play on monday (though i doubt anyone has heard of them)

personally i think Metallica sucks and they're only in it for the money. but then again i never really liked heavy metal anyway.

Samurai Champloo looks really cool, i'll have to keep an eye on that one. :)

i have to agree that Barry's acting was horrible, it seemed like Penelope Cruz was the only person in the entire flick that knew how to play her part well. on top of that, Robert Downy Jr. mumbled so many of lines that it was impossible to understand half of what he was saying.

so i rented this movie with a few of my friends today and i was expecting it to be really good because i love horror/psychological thriller flicks, but this was outright one of the cheesiest and most predictable movies i've seen in a long time, it was almost as bad as session 9. if they hadnt gone so far out of their way to give it a 'happy' ending it could've turned out to be a decent movie. the very end of the movie especially pissed me off, it made it out to be some kinda stupid Sixth Sense knock-off anyway, has anyone else seen this? if so what did you think about it?

in my house i own an Xbox & GC and my roommate owns a PS2. first off that GC hasnt even been touched by either of us since we played the Naruto game back in the early summer and neither of us really played anything on that console before that, so it looses right off the bat. if you were to ask me a few months ago i probably would have said the PS2, but lately im all for the xbox thanks to games like Ninja Gaiden, Breakdown, Steel Battalion: Line of Contact (best $200 we ever spent) and future titles like the new Splinter Cell. the ps2 is being left in the dust.

Anime Live Action Evangelion (and other adaptations)
QuincyArcher replied to a topic in Otaku Central
personally i think it would be best if they stayed as true to the series as possible, and i agree that making it CG would be better than live actors -
today was my day off so i slept in till about 2 in the afternoon :D other than that not much else to say. going out with some friends later tonight.

one of my favorite cinematics is a fairly new one. in Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox (towards the end of the game) the scene where Ryu is falling and lands in the huge plain with all the flowers and the Vigoorian Emperor is standing in front of him. that has to be one of my new fav's. but if i had to pick from a classic i'd say in Metal Gear Solid,
the scene where Meryl gets sniped in the long corridor by sniper wolf.
Added spoiler tags. - Shinmaru

probably the best concert i've been to is a tie between Radiohead and Flogging Molly. another good concert was The Blue Man Group, they always know how to put on a good show and their concert was where i first heard Venus Hum (as they were one of the opening bands). The worst concert i've ever been to would have to be CKY, i dont even care about the band but i went with a friend and the show was flooded with 12 and 13 year old boys trying to act tough. i felt really out of place.

i remember i watched a few episodes a couple years ago back when it aired on cartoon network (at least i think it was cartoon network) and i loved it. but they only showed about 7 or 8 episodes and never continued the series and i was really bummed out. and now that you've brought it up i kinda want to finish the series, is it really true it was dropped after the first season?

to be honest, it was my grandpa that got my anime addiction started. by blood i am japanese but i was born and raised american. when i was about 5 years old my grandpa (who lived in japan) would always send me tape recordings of Dragonball, Dr. Slump and Doraimon which aired on japanese TV back then and i always would anticipate when the next batch of tapes would arrive. now 15 years later im a full blown otaku anime addict, thanks Gramps! may he rest in peace :)

Anime Old threads that shouldn't have been revived.
QuincyArcher replied to a topic in Otaku Central
i'd have to say either Hideki & Chi from Chobits, or Kazuki & Yunna from Maburaho. As you haven't explained why you like those particular couples, your post is basically spam. Please try to make it a bit longer and more thoughtful.... if you don't, I'll be forced to delete this. Thank you very much. ^_^ ~Dagger~ -
heh, my love for naruto goes so far that i bought a gamecube and modified it just so i could import the naruto game from japan.

i always kinda thought indie just referred to a more underground style of rock that never really caught a mainstream following, but even thats debatable. usually nowadays if someone says "that band is indie" i'll go along with it and not agrue cuz hell if i know what makes them indie
-
a majority of what i listen to isnt indie, but there are a few indie bands that i like namely: Mirah Les Savy Fav Modest Mouse Menomena most of what i listen to falls under soft rock/electronica, stuff like: Stereolab Radiohead Venus Hum Metric and some others.

yeah, not a bad poem. but isnt paranoid android the title to one of Radiohead's songs off OK Computer?

i'd have to agree with queen asuka and say the chobits world, either that or the maburaho world. being able to use magic that freely would just be way too cool
-
i just picked Ninja Gaiden up a few days ago and i have to say that i love it. the combat system it probably one of the best and yet most challenging that i've played in a long time. if you have an xbox this is definately a must-buy.

Manga What new manga/manwha are you reading now?
QuincyArcher replied to Monkey_Orange's topic in Otaku Central
well, until it became licensed i was really into the Toriyama's World translations of the Bleach series. but right now im in the process of reading the english manga's of Chobits. -
i watched the fansubs a while ago and i loved the series, and they've started showing the english dubs on anime unleashed on TechTV but the english voice acting is downright horrible it almost makes it unwatchable.
