1. My final day of high school is tomorrow, and it's about freaking time! I mean, nothing is more horrible than the public school system. But anyway, I shall do a few things this summer. I'm gonna work my butt off at Ron's Restaurant as head cook, then schedule some time off to go to the Jafax convention with my g/f in Grand Rapids, MI, then go to the Bela Fleck and the Flecktones concert, and possibly canoe an entire river again with my best friend. So there ya go. As if you cared. :(
2. Heh. Small world. I live in Michigan and the economy is basically a big salty steamy bucket of crap over here, and over in Houghton Lake Community Schools we used to have this thing called a budget. Now what happens is this in my state: The schools get a certain amount of money for each student who comes to our school, so therefore, we have a good sized budget. But unfortunatly, the School Board at my town is filled to the brim with a bunch of idiots. You'd think that if you had a budget each year that you would not spend over the budget, right? Well, that's exactly what they did. We have no more freakin money. At all. None. Now, the schools have to cut a whole bunch of classes, teachers, extra curricular clubs, and (most importantly) sports. And because they're cutting sports, students are moving to different school districts. Therefore, reducing the amount of money that the school recieves. Fortunatly, I am a senior and graduating this year, so I don't have to worry about it too much. It still kinda bothers me that someone could spend more than a set amount of money when they are completely aware of the consequences. ugh.
3.
wow there is some heavy talk in this room. have you guys ever seen or been "sports discrimination", when refs screw you out of something that you know something you know youve won. for me it is not about racism or anything. mostly it is because i am from a different state man. it ticks me off big time. one time a wrestling ref counted points for the wrong guy. my coach was watching and i looked at him after the match. the coach asked the ref why they awarded him points. he said it was because that the other guy had control WHEN HE OBVIOUSLY DIDNT. i might be a little biast, but i know when i score and when i dont. it just like a six sense of mine.
I'm a wrestler and my team saw that crap all the time. I guess discrimination can come in all forms: race, what team you play on, what clique you're in, etc. But yeah, I've seen refs make bad calls all the time. Unfortunatly, they cannot be questioned or you lose a team point. My coach makes you sit out for your next match for that, whether you suck or you're the best freaking wrestler ever. Well, whatever. I don't think it is as harmful as racial discrimination, but sports discrimnation is abundant as well.
4. Hey, there are plenty of games directed to girls! Just check out all those awesome Barbie games or those Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen games. I'm sure that those games are designed for girls. But seriously, My girlfriend plays DDR all the freaking time with me. She loves it, and it provides a good workout. I would also recommend Animal Crossing and FFX-2. Those games are extremely cute and girly. I would be embarrassed if I was caught playing them. Good games, though.
5. Have you guys heard of Guerilla War for the NES? Holy crap that game was awesome! It's a top down shooter and you could never lose because it gives you infinite continues. Secret of Mana is also a great co-op game. It probably had some sort of influence on FFCC...whateva.
6. That's kinda funny that you actually read the thread, then. Have I ticked you off that much that you had to reply in a sarcastic way that hurts peoples feelings? I am confused why you even posted if you don't like the thread this much. I was just wondering if people were in the same boat as me, and you turned it around as me tooting my horn, as you put. T_T Aparently, people do care about what I have to say if I have a thread that's three pages long. It's surprising that I can evoke such emotions out of people.
7. Not to be a jerk, but that sounds rediculously cliché and like Inuyasha. You've got a young demon, a klutzy girl, seeds that make people insane (kinda like the shards in Inuyasha), and the boy has ears. But it might make money since it is cliché.
8. I beat the internet. The end guy is hard. - anon. My brother said this once, "Hell is probably just two casinos named the Fire and Brimstone with Sigfried and Roy playing at BOTH of them." I love the quote by callmegoddess04. Apparently, it isn't easy.
9. I recommend the Battle Angel Alita series and Battle Angel Alita: Lost Order. They are about this cyborg named Alita and her travels as she unravels the mysteries of her past from Mars. It's a good read if you are into theoretical-science-y stuff and tons of action. Oh, the manga also has the best sport ever: MOTORBALL!! That's all I'll give you about that. The original series is 8 mangas long, and I don't really know how long Lost Order is. But I recommend it, dang it!
10. Hi, everybody! (hi doctor nick!) I was just wondering if anybody had any future plans for a more lengthy education. College? Community college? Trade school? Institute of cosmotology? I wanna know! Me? I'm going to Michigan Tech. University to study Civil Engineering just like that Hung guy on American Idol. I will also get a minor in art. Hopefully have my own consulting business someday...then open up an arcade...then make a manga of my own... TELL ME YO' PLANS!
11. This is like arguing to a wall. This issue will always be devided and will never be solved, and I'm here to make a point. We, as humans, will find other ways to kill ourselves if guns are banned. Whether you like it or not, we are a sadistic race. Tower of London? WW2? BSDM? Asphixiation-Erotica? Methods of torture (we're the only species on the planet that has ever tortured another one of it's kind, btw)? We are a sick bunch of people. Did you know that stairs kill over 1000 people each year? Do you think that we should ban stairs? Should we ban cars because they kill people too? What about airplanes? Or toasters? What about 5 gallon buckets that those babies drown in every year? Or how about we ban going outside because sunlight causes skin cancer? It won't help if we ban guns. Just look what happened when they banned alcohol. Anyway, what I'm saying is that we're all gonna die of something, and you liberal douches are just whining about it. If you're smart, you'll stay away from guns so you won't die of 'em. Plain and simple.
12. Well, I have never had an LDR before, but from what I can tell you about relationships is that you need to ask yourself these questions: 1. Does she enjoy doing things that you like to do? 2. Does she laugh at the same things that you do? 3. Do you get all tingly after you go home from her house and just start smiling for no reason? 4. Does she have little quirks about her that you just don't care about? (i.e. religion, family, economic situation, she won't let you do it, etc.) I've been with my girlfriend for over a year, and my feelings have not faded one bit since the day I met her. She's a Baptist, and because of that she's definately not having sex with me, even though I'm a horny bastard. But I don't give a fuh. I get that tingly feeling all the time though, and I think that's what love is. If I am wrong, well, I don't wanna be right!
13. I live in a white bread community with about 3 black people, 5 Latinos, and the only Asians we have are from different countries. Do we descriminate? No. Everybody treats everybody equally, but that's prolly cause everyone's a whitey. I myself have blonde hair and blue eyes, and being of the race that Hitler once believed in, I do get comments about that. But it's all in good humor. I mean, there's jokes about other races, and then there's bigotry. One of my best friends is a Latino and he jokes about himself stealing hubcaps all the time. It's funny! That's how minority comedians get their start! They talk about who's different. And if you can't laugh, then you have something stuck up your ***. Probably a gerbil.
14. Well, one time in my programming class, this chick said that there was soap all over the bathroom floor and she said she had soapy shoes. There ya go.
15. I most certainly haven't! Does he run around with no pants?
16.
Squares?......... And dude, are you one of those people who wear LOOONG shorts that goes to their ankles?
Nah. I just run around pantsless and ask people if there's a breeze in here. I do go to Hot Topic every once in a while to pick up gaming paraphernalia.
17. I'd say FLCL is one of the most original anime that I have ever seen. With a crazy animation style and unique plot development, it's one of the best I've seen in awhile.
18. Holy crap! Did anyone answer the thead starter's question? One person mentions DDR and you guys go crazy about your own experiences. Anyway, Drop the Bomb by Scotty D is on the original "Dance Dance Revolution" and "DDR: Konamix" for PS1. The quality is really bad for these games, such that the arrows don't really come up that smoothly, but these are the games that got me hooked in the first place. I hope this helps.
19. Dang. I sure did get a lot of angsty teenage feedback in this thread. But it is true. Cool is relative, just like time or beauty. Don't worry about doin' your homework, Godel...but at least pay attention so you can do good on the tests, like me. Homework is for squares! Like pants!
20. Check it out: This Japanese high school English teacher ran copies of PA with the speech bubbles whited out, so that the students could write in their own original English sayings. CLICK HERE
21. I'm not saying you have to be an athlete to be cool. I'm just wondering if you guys are well liked in your school and if you get along with everyone, even though you are unique and awesome enough to like anime. People think to look past the fact that I love anime and still hang out with me, even though the general trend is that anime lovers are unpopular, as shown in this thread. But whateva. I'm conviced that once you get to college, public school crap won't even matter anymore.
22. I love to watch breakdancing, and I also would like to get into Capoeira (Brazillian slave fighting style. Used by Eddie in the Tekken series), but I've seen people do breakdancing to techno, like that "Days go By" video by Dirty Vegas. He wasn't really doing phat-rockin-hippidy-doo-da breakdancing, but it was still awesome. I encourage you to break the mold and get into that techno/dance/electronica breakdancing groove. That would be suh-weetness.
23. Ok. You guys might not believe me, but I am one of the most popular kids in my school. That's right. I play football (all conference, honorable mention, guard and I'm only 170lbs!), wrestle (2 time regional qualifier), and run track (54.78second 400m dash). By now, you may be asking yourself, "What the crap is this guy talking about, and why the crap is this popular jerk gloating in this anime forum?" Well, I'll tell ya. I'm crazy about anime, and I usually don't gloat in real life. But in essence, I'm really not gloating. I'm just telling the truth. Plus, I have a point. I was wondering if anyone else is really popular in their school (I'm a high school senior, by the way) and likes anime. Oh, and people have to know you like anime. I draw it all the time in my art class. Right now, I'm doing a huge canvas full of Alita from Battle Angle Alita: Last Order. MMM...good manga. But anyway, is there anyone like me out there? Am I the only Flopjock? Do you people take your girlfriends out on dates that consist mainly on going to the mall to play DDR and then heading over to Borders to check out manga (
24. Don't be an Amercan cartoon hata'. Recent ones that are based on anime pretty much suck, but that is also my opinion (Though, I strangely enjoy Teen Titans...but I digress). Anyway, people have the right to voice their opinion, whether you like it or not. It's in our beloved Constitution! But if you really want to make people stop making fun of you to your face, either get really buff and scary, or act all crazy when they make fun of you. Check it: "HAHAAH,***, YOU LIKE POKYMONS!! LOSER" "OH YEAH? GIVE ME BACK MY DOLLAR!! THAT'S RIGHT, THAT DOLLAR YOU OWE ME!" "HAHA, WHAT? YOU ARE A WEIRD-O WITH ANIME TENDANCIES" "THAT MAY BE TRUE, BUT DID YOU EVER STOP TO THINK ABOUT WHY YOU HAVE TO PARTY ALL THE TIME AND DRINK BEER UNTIL YOU VOMIT ALL OVER YOUR SLUT YOU CALL A GIRLFRIEND? ARE YOU AS DEPRESSED AS ME WHEN IT COMES TO YOURSELF? I THINK YOU ARE, AND YOU SHOULD TOO. DRINKING IS NOT THE ANSWER TO DEPRESSION, MY IGNORANT FRIEND. PILLS ARE." The whole time, you gotta be yelling this throughout the whole cafeteria, so that everyone looks at you and thinks you're a crazy mofo. Meanwhile, the person you are talking to gets really embarrassed and runs away like a little monkey with a daiper on. I hope this helps.
25. There are a few anime series that isn't shown too much in the states that I've seen. GoldenBoy is a great comedy (only 6 episodes long, though) about an idiot who tries to get laid, and when he's about to get some, he leaves unexpectedly. I also like Chobits and uh...I guess that's it...can't remember any of the others I've seen.
