Art Last chance to get in the Otaku Artist Elite for a while
Red replied to a topic in Creative Works
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve I'm so glad people are putting in hand drawn art instead of completely digital bull crap. Artists period, especially artist elites should know all range of art, should know how to use many mediums and should be able to adequately critique and review art in any medium and style. Something tells me alot of these elites arent elite at all, but thats just my opinion.
I agree with you in a sense, but not some people are better at digital art and the like instead of hand-drawn or more practical types of art, and vice versa.
Not to mention art have no range of good to bad. It's all art, it's all interpreted art. Meaning it's all how YOU as a viewer sees it. Which could be drastically different from the guy standing next to you or the old woman stuck in the cellar. Art can never be bad, just as it can never be good.
Totally agree with you there, though. What I don't like is that CGers aren't allowed to participate to get into the 'elite' artists? I hardly think thats fair because I've seen a few amazing pieces of CG stuff here recently. -
I have an almost 2 year old kitty named Keiko, she's a Tortoise Shell and White and is the most timid thing, ever. She hates all men except me, tries to groom me (she follows me endlessly, licking me even if I walk off or shoo her away) and attacks my legs when she's being playful. I used to have a rabbit, but I had to give him away because he was getting far too big for my little flat. As far as I know his father was one of the biggest rabbits in Britain (or the biggest, when I saw the damn thing it took 2 of us to lift it into the hutch, which was enormous).

One of my main goals in life is to meet one person. We can all have dreams.. Other than that, it's trying to do half-decently and drag myself out of the mess I've put myself in by being a slacker. Ultimately I want to go to University, then onto something to do with gaming, for example programming/graphical work.
Originally posted by The Harlequin Wing Chun or Jeet Kun Do (Bruce Lee's stuff), would be pretty good to do, I admit.
I did Wing Chun for a while, it's very tough to get used to since it's very different. It has some excellent blocking techniques (mostly based on the most basic, yet most used stance in the style). For example, I was able to push my Shifu as hard as I possibly could, yet he would never move from the spot. It's hard to explain - but if you were standing in a normal position you would be moved; the stance involves chanelling energy through your body into the floor. I've seen a couple of people who have learnt Jeet Kune Do as well, a very free flowing style (as I don't think it has stances or forms).. the only moves I've seen seem to draw from the constant movement to pack an extra bit of force. I've trained in a few different styles, I started with Karate which is way too forceful a style in my opinion; I've also done some Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and a tiny bit of Kendo.

I don't necessarily pull all nighters.. staying up all night turns me into a horrible, horrible person. lol. For the past 3 months I've been going to bed at around 4.30am every night. Whilst I was still in school I'd go to bed at 5am and get up at 6.30am, I just don't like to sleep I guess. I either sit on here, sing or go out to watch the sunrise when it nears morning. I need at least an hours sleep to not be a very nasty person the next day. ^_^; Oh, and right now it's 4.15am. Go figure. :p

I beat up two 15 year olds, I'm king of the world
Originally posted by Harry I am, and I think you're wrong in the fundamental sense that these kids have no respect for anyone. Knowingly breaking glass bottles on an elderly couples driveway shows their complete lack of respect of everything and simple humiliation wouldn't phase them.
You're just as much in the wrong as those kids are. By hitting someone who couldn't have defended themselves well - if at all - against someone of your size and age you're knowingly showing a lack of control. -
Originally posted by Harry When you pop a kid in the jaw that just told you to **** off, comeback and tell us how it felt. I doubt you'll feel guilty.
I did punch a kid in the face once, who was much younger than me, because I lost my temper due to his seemingly idiotic attitude towards me. Watching him subsequently cry and clutch his face in agony made me realise that they're only acting tough or whatever; you just have to keep your cool and get them to go away using non-violent means. -

You're 6 foot 2, weighing in at 210lbs, so you punch a kid in the face? I'm all for stopping idiots treating everything that isn't them or their friends like trash, but punching a 15 year old kid in the face if you're a fully grown adult is certainly not the way to go about it. Threat if you have to, but in my mind you went way, way too far. Threatening them would have been better. I often get kids younger than me causing trouble around here, and I could easily make their little faces look like omelettes, but that's not going to teach them anything. Normally I just scare them off and tell them the terrible things I'll do to them if they hang around, which aren't necessarily true but the threat gets the job done. -

I live in London, England. The smoggiest piece of smog-land that's ever filled the planet with smog. It's dirty, it's got nasty areas, but I love it so. The only thing I hate is I've never seen a full sky of stars, ever, it's been something I've always wanted to see but light pollution sucks.. -
Relax, man. The whole audience isn't there to criticise you or bite your head off, even though it feels like it when you're up in front of them all performing. Trust me, it's a lot worse if you're the lead singer. :p I say just practice your part over and over again, and when you get up there just treat it like it's another session and forget about those watching you. :)
Originally posted by vicky Well, I haven't seen it around my way. But sounds cool. It might not come out in england/salford. It's not likly to come out until...around a month or so.
It's been out in England for a while now. Anyway; I like Meteora, there are some excellent tracks on there but in my opinion the majority of them are far too short. I suppose it's quality over quantity, but the quality only just gets over the length of the tracks.

This kind of thing matters to you this much, eh? I'm actually quite sorry to hear that. It really is the person that should matter most to people, not what they look like. I'm about as good looking as a rock, I'm 160lbs and 6ft 2; I would rather people saw me for who I was. If you really want to lose the weight that badly, I suggest just taking your time and regularly excercising. Go for a run every morning or when you have a spare hour, it's a very good way to lose weight. Eat the right food too. Might sound like you've heard it before but it really does work.

The eight spiders in a year 'statistic' isn't real - it's actually from an article about fake statistics on the internet, lol. All they do is take a few random people, take notes/statistics from them; and if 20% of them for example coughed 5 times in an hour they would say 20% of the population cough 5 times an hour.

As far as I can tell - OB isn't about spam. It's not liked and gets annoying. Having a forum dedicated to it would only increase it across the board, in my opinion. There have been both test and introduction forums in the past and they both turned rather spammy, even with no post counts enforced on them. And what's the problem with PM? lol. Works brilliantly in my eyes.

Knives. I'm not really scared of one in the sense that I'll run away screaming if I see one - but if I don't have to pick a particularly big knife up I just won't do it; or I'll argue the point. I have no problem with swords, daggers and such, just stuff like butchers knives and big kitchen knives. Hate the feeling when they're used wrong.

Do you only know guns from Counter-Strike? lol. The m4a1 comes with a shedload more customizations than just a silencer, and it is pretty accurate; but I'm assuming you're taking your ideas from Counter-Strike, which really doesn't show real gun physics. I think any gun would be deadly to the upper body, not just a H&K mp5, lol. You're talking about bullets being projected at hundreds of feet a second, of course they're going to do some serious damage. A good starting gun for a newbie? Uh, you're talking about a sub-machine gun - something I certainly wouldn't want me or anyone else to start off on. I think a pistol is more suited to that. Personally, I don't have a thing for guns. I love old WW2 guns, but in terms of weapons I prefer things like swords and sticks.

My temper was classed as a 'serious mental health problem' for me when I was a bit younger. When I got angry, I would get really angry, even over the smallest things. It flared up especially when I got into a fight and just couldn't stop myself from constantly beating someone, even after they had completely caved in. Afterwards I would normally break down because I couldn't understand why I was getting so angry or why I couldn't control myself. Over the past few years I've learnt to control my temper very well, heh, even if I do get angry I can calm myself down very fast. There's always depression, too, which I've been experiencing since I was about 10, but bullying will do that to you. ;)

Longest I've spent on here straight is about 12 hours. I get incredibly bored if I stay on here for too long, since I do most of the stuff I want done in about 3 hours at the very most. Thing is I'm in my house for maybe 2 days at a time, then I'm out for about 3. When I am here - the computer is almost always on, so if I'm near it and hear an IM window pop up or something I answer it. Having broadband allows me to stay on (but for some reason doesn't show me up as idle or anything O_o).

And..if it gets to bashing and flaming..i will delelte this thread. I don't want to have a thread lock again..it's kinda embarressing...... But what do you think abotu them? Do you mind them? Do you hate them? Are you one? *shivers at the sight of gay boys* nothing wrong with em...just keep 'em away...
Do you understand how many times you managed to contradict yourself? You say that you have no problem with gay people, yet at the same time say you have 'nightmares' and want to 'keep them away'? If you're going to create a thread like this, you should be prepared for the consequences. If it needs to be locked, you shouldn't be threatening to delete it because you don't like what happens in the thread. If you're so afraid of the embarassment, why create the thread? Anyway, I have no problem with gay people. I have absolutely no clue whatosever as to why others would have any problems with them, either. People seem to have this perception that being gay makes someone a totally different person - but how is that the case? I have a bunch of gay friends, some have told me just recently that they are gay. They don't sit there and make a big deal out of it, and nor do I. They haven't fundementally changed as a person in the slightest, it's just how they want to pursue a relationship and so forth. In my opinion, people who think that there's something wrong are just being insane. The same thing goes for religious purposes - we were given the power to choose, so why not the choice over our sexuality?

Chester pushed the heavy glass door open, flashing his small plastic ID card at the nervous guards scattered across the reception hall. He looked at the huge white desk across the hall, the marble floor reflecting everything above and the single receptionist sat perfectly still at the desk. Handing his card over for a brief inspection, he took a set of forms, glanced at them, and made his way to the elevator. He had done this a million times before, and it seemed robotic. He smirked at the fact that no matter how much humans thought they were unique, many still followed an almost identical, repetitive routine in life, just like robots. Chester strolled into the small office and dropped into a chair on one side of a desk. The room was decorated with pictures, trophies and items from past wars. The dark brown walls calmed Chester, not everything seemed so militaristic and modern. The trademark name-plate lay on the desk, "Commander Lewis" was the name printed on it. Chester had never heard of him. A voice spoke from the chair on the opposite side of the desk; a low, husky American voice. Commander Lewis: You obviously know why you're here, Mr. Feran. Chester: It's something about a way to finish off 01 for good, right? Another one of those supposedly perfect plans that all go horribly wrong. The chair in front of Chester swivelled around, revealing an old, wrinkled man. Scars dotted his face and a look of disgust was the expression on it. Commander Lewis: Listen, boy, I don't know of you've heard anything about this operation yet but I'm telling you it's going to work. The Commander slid a file full of papers across his desk, which Chester scanned across as he spoke. Chester: With all due respect, sir, I've heard it befo- He stopped talking as his eyes affixed on the diagrams. The plan was to hit 01 with nuclear weapons. Not just a few, but thousands of bombs. A small smirk appeared on his face, before it was destroyed by a single thought. If the humans' superior powers were willing to go as far as this, they must be desperate. He lowered his head a little, thinking about how desperate the human race had become to survive. Yet he knew that the robots were doing the exact same thing. The saying 'what goes around comes around' made him smirk again. Commander Lewis: I see you agree with me. You're to report to Berlin, Germany by tomorrow afternoon for commanding orders. This conversation does not leave this office. The strikes are not taking place yet, but they may do at any time between now and the scheduled date due to actions by 01. Chester remained silent, walking out of the old brown office into the new white walls, watching the singular, outdated robot wipe the floors clean in the huge hall. Letting out a sigh, he made his way home.

I say the prime cut of Otaku beef has to be James. There is no man that can even come close to his uber-Australian sexiness; and I have had a crush on him for quite some time. What? We can all have dreams, can't we? In no way is this post real..

Chester strolled through the busy London city centre. Despite it being a warm day, he had his hands buried deep in his trench coats pockets, his face barely visible behind the tall collar. He didn't know why he did this - hiding from those around him - but it made him feel secure; alone. A crowd was gathered across the street - shouting and screaming loudly. Chester crossed to find an encircled machine, one of the more advanced models with synthetic skin and realistic features. Chester looked at the face of 'him', some of the artificial skin had been torn away to reveal a smooth metal casing, dented from obvious beatings. Chester noticed some of the childrens expressions; unable to see why the man had lost his face on the street and why everyone was so angry. For a moment, he wanted everyone to see the machines like the children did, as equals, but the orders he was constantly receiving brushed those temporary thoughts aside. The machine seemed to know of it's fate now. The mob grew ever more angry, some men tore away the remaining fake flesh from the machines face, showing the full 'face' underneath. It seemed expressionless without the skin; a dull, lifeless sheet of moulded metal with eyes that seemed empty. Yet, at the same time, Chester knew there was some kind of individuality, some kind of will to exist within this machine. The police arrived on the scene, yet instead of dispersing the crowd helped to torture the failing machine before dragging it off into the back of a truck. Comments flew about how glad these people were that the nuclear weapons would finally rid the world of the machines. Feeling uneasy, Chester dug his hands back into his pockets and walked into the UNSF building.

Name: Chester Feran Age: 22 Country of Origin: England Organization: United Nations Security Force Appearance: 6'2" tall; thin, but with little muscle. His head is cleanly shaven and what little can be seen of his hair is black. His eyes are a dark brown, almost black. Stays in uniform most of the time, civilian clothing changes. Biography: Chester was born in England, but due to his father being a politician, was raised in various parts of the world. He constantly goes against his father, first by taking a neutral stance on the machines (his father hates 01 and everything inside it with a passion), and then by joining the UNSF instead of taking a politics-based education and job. He is exceptionally quiet, but a warrior who has gained the respect of many other soldiers and commanding officers. The nuclear attacks on 01 have made him unsettled and very nervous of things to come. He has gained qualifications in piloting mechs but has yet to experience a combat situation with one. Weapon/s: UNSF-issue 9mm; FN P90 (customised)

Congratulations to Lady M! Heheh. Glad to hear that everything is good, especially with such a premature birth. (well, it seems very premature to me, anyway O_o; ) All the best to Lady M and the new born. ^_^

I walked in on my girlfriend (well, she's not my girlfriend anymore) having sex with a friend of mine a while back, and the relationship was pretty serious. Think it was about 11 months we had been going out. She's one of my good friends now.. I suppose I forgave her. In the end, it was her choice. She wanted to do it, and probably knew what was going to happen. Me not 'forgiving' her for doing so would ruin anything we could possibly have as friends. Hope that makes sense. Oo;
