1. The EVA units do have immense power. They can rip buildeings apart, punch like a canon, are highly mobile, and are juggernauts when they go berserker. However, I still think a Gundam would win. If you ask me, there's no way an EVA unit would defeat an Eva. For one thing, once the Gundam Pilots would've obviously shot the power cord, the EVA's only have 5 minutes. EVA's can't fly, aren't as mobile, and don't have the armor of a Gundam. An Aerial advantage is huge for a Gundam. Plus, the previous speaker (a ways back..) is right about the sync thing. Once they get hit, they're practically crippled with pain. Even if the Gundam gets damaged, that's not going to interfere with their battling. Now, the one thing the EVA's really have going for them is the Absolute Terror (AT) Field. That's going to make a powerful barrier for the Gundams. However, the Gundams have immensely powerful weaponry in large amounts. Buster Cannons and beam rifles have enough power, IMO, to break through that. And of course, they're Coordinators. They have superhuman intelligence, tactics, and thinking skills. The EVA pilots are only human. Talented humans, but nothing like the inhuman skills of a Coordinator. And when those guys go into Seed Mode, I just can't see the EVA's standing a chance.
2. I don't watch anime around my parents. If they walk in the room and I'm watching it, they're like, "uhhh---huh." Especially my Dad. My Mom was around more when we (siblings and I) first started watching it. I'll never forget when my sister made my Mom sit down and watch an episode of Hamtaro with her :animesmil . So, my Mom's a little blaise about it, but they still both just kinda look at it when I'm watching. Especially, well, you know how anime can get a little risky with the girls and too much nudity, etc etc. Well, I'm so used to that, unless it's extreme I don't even notice it, but if my parents see someone flopping around they'd think I was watching porn or something >_>. Even when I'm watching a perfectly harmless anime they make me feel uncomfortable about it :animeblus . Luckily I've got Anime Network, Adult Swim, and Anime Selects On Demand in my basement! ~R.E.
3. Hey, Wow, you're really really really x 123637 good. I think my favorite picture has to bte the one of the jet. IT's just so...dare I say...cool. Freakin' awesome, schweetzorz roxors, and other random internet things work well too. The jet, and the person, and..I don't really know how to say it but it's awesome. I think the only thing I would like different would be for the person in the Jet picture to have a face. I wasn't quite sure what was up with the crossed mask. ~RtT PS. My second favorite would be the Tokyo/Japan picture you based your first picture on.
4. Most people are going to say hate, because it overpowers all other emotions. Even if you really love somone, or you're taken away by an emotion of strong friendship, happiness or elation, at their purest form none of them will make you feel as intensely as burning hatred/anger will. In my opinion, at least, not in all cases but for the most part, anger is on a different level than other emotions, so it's difficult to say if a moment of intense happiness or intense anger is stronger. I think the strongest emotion I ever had was a mixture of anger/hatred/sadness. And it was in a dream too. Strange. It was anime related in a way too. It was directed towards a person. Has anyone ever felt anger/hatred so unadulterated that it makes you cry with emotion, bringing about sadness at the task you're goign to do? I don't want to get into details, so I know this might be confusing, but that's kinda how it was in my dream. I wonder, does that dream actually count as an emotion? I'm not sure, but it certainly was powerful. Oh, and sadness is a good point. Sadness burns. It festers in the pit of your stomach, unabating. Well, that's more dread...but I find the two intertwined. Sadness doesn't leave, not for a long time. And when it's there, it's just so painful. It's like, whenever you start to feel happiness, the memory comes back and smashes you in the back of the head. Goodbye happiness. ~RtT
5. Hey, Yes, I play Guild Wars. I am a Elementalist/Mesmer, or as I like to call it, an Elemesmer. GW has only been out a few months, but it's obvious the most popular classes are Elementalist and Warrior. My name on there is Ryo Escalus, my general game name/alternate/online identity. You guys keep on eye out for me and I'll do the same for you. ~RtT
6. I hate bullying as much as I hate "initation rites" - aka hazing. I always told myself I would never let myself get bullied for my intelligence, or hazed, and so far, I have not had the chance to see if I could pull myself through on that promise (to myself). The truth is, no bully is bullying some kid or person smaller than himself in order to make them stronger, so they'll learn to "stand up for themsevles." They're doing it to form a fake sense of superiority. Aka inferiority complex. So I can't see how bullying could be any more than "invoking the desire to kick the bully's butt" when it comes to..whatever. ~RtT
7. At my school, we really don't have defined cliques or groups like that. We do have popular people, more nerdy people, and band geeks. We don't really have defined stereotypes, though. It's all kind of psychedelically blendy, like a melting pot. Shifting and changing, rearranging. Where am I? I fall in in the middle ground. Believe me, I'm not part of any defined group. Some people think I'm a nerd cause I get really good grades, others think i'm a band geek because I'm in the band, but I'm not either. I guess you could say that what you are classified as in highschool only goes as far as those who put you in that group. Unless you make yourself something, like a goth. I, and a group of friends, don't really have a group. We're our own group ^^. Honestly, (at least at my school) the whole stereotypical thing really isn't there. Turn on any 80/90's high school show, and you see cheerleaders, jocks with varsity jackets, geeks with suspenders and possibly goths in all black. Who's school is really like that? Most people these days are their own person, attracted to a group of people their own age that share a similar range of interests - definition of "peer" - so I bet most people will say they fall into a non-defined group. I live my life as a Red Mage. A bit of everything. ~RtT Oh, and we don't have goths or punks, not really. A bunch of suburbian wanna be gangsters, though. I go to a Private School, so you know that no one there can actually be a gangster ^^ Heh, after reading your post, Ih8pepsi, I think I'd like to meet you. :animesmil
8. Hold fast to dreams, For if Dreams die, Life is a broken-winged bird, That cannot fly. Hold Fast to dreams, for if Dreams go, Life is a barren field, Frozen with snow. "Dreams" by Langston Hughes. Not sure if I got all the words right. I have dreams. One of my originals was to be able to run as fast as Sonic. Doubt that'll ever happen, but it would be great. To be successful is another big dream of mine. One dream of mine that I was elated to come true was to get into Wind Ensymble at my school. W.E. is our highest band. My dreams range far and wide, I can't list them all. ~RtT
9. I did away with best friends a long time ago. I don't see the point of it, and it can easily lead to hurt. But I can tell you about a good friend of mine: My friend and I have a lot in common. We both like computers, anime, and video games to a certain extent. We have a lot of the same classes in school, and share generally lots of interests. Why is he a good friend of mine? hmm. Well, we both get along really well. He's trustworthy, and a lot like me. We can talk about almost anything and I know I don't have worry about gossip or something. I don't realy "look for new friends" like a job or something. If I meet someone, and we get along well, eventually we'll become friends I guess. Anime characters? Wow, that's a tough one! It's hard to find an anime that develops a character enought o knwo if you'd want to be friends with them. I always thought it would be really interesting to be part of Ichigo (from Bleach)'s gang of friends. That's really all I can think of at the moment. ~RtT
10. I don't know much about Japanese suffixes, but where does kun come in? I thought chan was for close friends/little kiddies, and kun was distinctly male. Does that mean you would call a male close friend chan?
11. I can't blame Inuyasha for being withdrawn. I mean, all his life, he was pushed back from society for being what he is - a half demon. No one, except his mysterious mother, ever accepted him. And then she died. It's only natural that at that step he would completely withdraw into himself. And then came Kikyo. Once again, he had his heart broken by a woman. So it would be a big deal for him to actually express emotion (to Kagome). Oh, and Thorax, just because two people have unprotected sex certainly doesn't mean they get pregnant. Some people try for years to get pregnant, w/o protection of course. There's still a 50/50+/- chance of getting pregnant even without protection. Oh, and even in the show airing on Cartoon Network, he says "I want you to bear my child." I don't htink he ever mentioned first. So I guess we've seen that both Miroku and Inuyasha have inward feelings they hide with a front. Still, we haven't heard naerly as much of Miroku compared to Inuyasha. Whenever he and Sango start getting close, you can bet a smack is sure to come.
12. Sometimes I feel I can relate to Uzumaki Naruto. It's funny, cause we're really not so alike. He's extroverted, I'm slighty more introverted. He was the lowest in his class, and I'm in the 5th percentile. But that's more outside stuff. Naruto, despite his outgoing exterior, just wants friends to make up for his lonely childhood. He's dedicated to them, though sometimes they piss him or he pisses them off ^_^. Most of all, he has a goal, to be the best that he can be, and he's willing to do whatever, absolutely whatever, to reach it. And that's what I'm at least trying to do. ~RtT Oh, and Reikimaru, amen to that.
13. Remember that one time Kikyo tried to drag Inuyasha into Hell with her, while, unknowned to Inuyasha, Kagome watched, "tied" to a tree? Mirouku asked later on why Kagome was so upset with Inuyasha, thus follows: Miroku: "Inuyasha, what did you do to make Kagome so angry?" Inuyasha: "Well, I met Kikyo in the forest and - " Miroku: "Kikyo?! What did you do?" Inuyasha: "The same thing you do when you're around women!" Miroku: "What - oh, you're sick! Perverted! That's just nasty!" But then, if Miroku isn't really his outgoing perverted self and actually withdrawn, at least physically, as Hayama said, maybe it means nothing. ~RtT
14. It's funny that you should say that, Dagger. I have an older sister re-reading all the books in preparation for this one. As for looking forward to it, I really am. After reading Order of the Phoenix, it's like so many things happened that she's just got to keep going, got to continue it. Deaths and new friendships, and strengthening of bonds of old ones. And all those hints betweenRon Weasley and Hermione Granger. I mean, come on. Remember that line in OotP when they said, "Hermione snapped at Ron, much like Mrs. Weasley admonishing Mr. Weasley" or something along those lines. I hope for: 1. More character development not just between the three, but people like Neville and other friends, the new girl that Harry befriended (what was her name), Ginny and her everchanging boyfriends, staff like Dumbledore and..McGonagal (sp????)? 2. Harry needs to get over this "teen angst" as Dagger so excellently put it. It's like he's always on. I mean, you have to cut him slack, considering the insane amount of things he's going through at the same time. I mean, I thought being his age was a pain enough, minus - insane person bent on your destruction - being famous - etc. 3. Yes, I'd also like them to humanize Draco. Until now, he and his father have been nothing more than ultra-stereotypical baddies. C'mon, tell us his background, his life, tell us why he is the way he is! I think his fangirl base would go through the roof if J.K. Rowling did this. 4. I believe, Dagger, that now there will be no self contained stories like the first 4 books. From 5 onward, now that we know the true conflict between Harry and He Who Must not be Named (^_^), the true story will only continue to develop. ~RtT
15. Well, Chabichou definetly has a point. Some people are used to introducing themselves, and feel the urge to start the thread in a "general" forum. However, for a forum like Otakuboards that prides itself on the literacy of its members, an introduction forum just isn't right. I have one on my forum, and it's everything you said it was. And that's okay for me, but I guess for otakuboards it's not. Plus, it's fun to just jump right into the interactive conversations all around you. I don't think I even introduced myself, just posted my opinion in a thread and kept on going ^^. My advice is if you're not going to have an intro forum, you need to put why in the rules. ~RtT
16. A friend of mine was always on Otakuboards. Whenever I went over to his house, or he was at my house for that matter, one of his main navigation boards was otakuboards. Plus, it was so wonderfully literate. I am the head of a pretty active board at my website, and believe me...getting people to post more than 1 line and it being grammatically correct is next to impossible. Here, that is vehemently discouraged, leading to a more fun, but also more understandable and literate atmosphere. Plus, I love video games and anime, and all in all, where could I find a better forum? So here I am! ~RtT
17. Hmm, girl names...well, these are a couple that always appealed to me: Lilia - Prounounced Lily - uh. This one just sounds so nice, it just does. Hmm..I said couple, didn't I? Wel this is the only really nice one I can think of right now. Jean is also a nice name, and Zoe's not bad, but I got to go with Lilia as my #1. ~RtT
18. 1. Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. Why? Cause Sonic the Hedgehog is awesome. I loved this game even more than the originals because of the Adventure aspect. In the others, you played the level by level form, but in Sonic Adventure, there was a level of exploration and broadness to the world instead of just action stages. Sonic the Hedgehog, the series in general, is one of my favorites. I'm a huge fan. I remember when I played Mario, back when I was a kid. After I got Sonic CD for PC, I just couldn't pick it up. The Sonic games are so superior as a platform. I find that Mario's levels get incredibly repetitive, especially old school Mario. Newer ones I find much more fun. But anyway, Sonic's speed, item collecting, bonus stages, other characters, and of course, Super Sonic, make this game and series one of my favorite. 2. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I must warn you, I am in love with this game. Flame it and I will find you and cease your living on this world ;) . This game would have to fall into the category of "All Around Awesome". 3xA. Let's start with Music. The music is wonderful, dynamic, excellent. I just had to have the soundtrack. The tones perfectly match the levels, drawing you farther and farther into the world of Crystal Chronicles. Next is the graphics. These are shear beauty. Even in the levels, the world map, especially the opening FMV, they are rounded and unflawed. Polygons that haunt even other Gamecube games are just gone. The level designs are stunning! My favorite zone would have to be the Mushroom Forest. Riverbelle Path and later dungeons are just as inventive and fun. You'll find yourself journeying from bright, outside paths, to crawling in the depths of a Goblin City. Either way, this game will keep you hooked. My favorite part would have to be the feel of the game. It's the quintessence of fantasy, chimerical adventure. This game is definetly one of my one and onlys, my very favorite. You know, rarely, sometimes, you'll see a game you were simply in love with from the sight of the very first commercial? This is that game for me. ~RtT
19. Hey, For those of you who watched it, did you notice something weird about Last Night's Episode of Inuyasha? It had an opening theme!! I was so incredibly surprised, very pleasantly I might add. I mean, I just didn't see it coming. I was suspicious when it had the pre-episode synopsis of the last, but that wa sstill very unexpected. I thought them putting on the opening theme is well-due, but does anyone know why, or did Cartoon Network just decided not to be so stingy about time and put it on? ~RtT
20. Hello RofloCopter, Being only a moderate manga fan - not that I'm limited in interest, just money - I don't know how much I'll be able to help, but I'll try. 1. My first recommendation is, of course, Naruto. The story has excellent action, a wide dimension of characters, and an all around great story. That's why it's such a hit. It takes a little time, but character development becomes obvious within the first few volumes, and the action and depth/background of the characters will probably have you hooked right away. The first 6 volumes are out now in any major bookstore (Borders, Barnes and Nobles). 2. My second recommendation is One Piece. Though I don't find a whole lot of fans of this out there, I really enjoy it. There is an excellent story under the guise of comedy. The fighting sequences are really well done, and you eventually learn to appreciate the cast of characters. Believe me, the manga is so much better than the terrible show on Cartoon Network/Fox Box (yes I still call it Fox Box..or is it on Kids WB?). The voice of Sanji and Luffy..especially Sanji's voice. Don't get me started or I'll be ranting and raving forever. BUt still, I like this series too. 3. My third recommendation would have to be .Hack//Legend of the Twilight. I absolutely adore this manga. It is arguably my very favorite. The characters, the World, the mysterious story and background of Aura and her daughter, the questing and the journey of the group that will become known as "Shugo's Party", traveling in the footsteps of the original Dot Hackers. I'm a big fan of .Hack, and this 3 volume series is for you if you like adventure and mystery. 4. My fourth recommendation is Rurouni Kenshin. I'm getting tired of typing so I'll be a bit more succinct. This is one of my favorite anime/manga. The battles are excellent, the background of each character slowly unfolding keeps you wanting to read more. It is renowned for being a very historically accurate samurai manga. Almost all the major characters are based off real historical figures, such as prominant leaders of the Shinsen-Gumi. 5. My fifth and final recommendation is the Legend of Chun Hyang. I only read one volume of it (I think 2 are out) when I was in Barnes and Nobles a couple weeks ago. I don't know much about it, but i found it really good. I think the most interesting part is that it takes place in Korea, not Japan like all other manga practically. Feudal Korea...that's pretty cool! It's based off a real Korean Folk Legend, updated and stylized. I wanna buy it when I get some money, but I really liked it, and you might also. That's all for now! Hope this information helps you out, 'copter! ~RtT
21. To Sakurasuka, Oh yeah, I remember that lineup. My siblings and I watched Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon all the time. I think my favorite Toonami lineup was when it had Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors, Gundam Wing, and Dragonabll Z. The middle two were always my favorites. Any old cartoon-network Anime fans remember the Midnight Run? 12:00 Midnight to 5:00 in the morning? Now there was some late night fun.. My very first manga, before I knew what manga was, and when the Borders worker said it was in the 'Graphic Novels' section I thought it was bloody and violent and my mom wouldn't let me get it...was Gundam Wing: Ground Zero. I was and still am a big Gundam/Gundam Wing fan, and wanted to buy the book. It was very cool. Surprisingly, this didn't start me on manga. I was young, and the only anime I watched was cartoon network. I didn't know what manga was or really what anime was. I was young and close-minded. What helped start me on manga was a friend showing me his copy of Shonen Jump. It had One Piece and Sandland in it. I thought I might get some comics for my next birthday. Sometime around that time, I flipped through a couple pages of Newtype or Anime Insider or some magazine, and read half an article on a bunch of hit new animes "soon coming to the USA". I only remembered the descriptions, and not the names. One was about a young detective, which I later learned was Case Closed, and the toher was about a young boy with powers to transform. I thought it was Naruto, but now I realize it was DNAngel. So, at my next birthday, I got Naruto vol. 1 (holo edition 1177 out of 5000 ^^), and One Piece vol. 1. And that's how I started collecting manga! My long narration! ~RtT
22. To me, the shows have potential, but sometimes they jsut come across as stupid. The only one I really watch is X-Play. Though they joke too much sometimes (though they can be hilarious!!), underneath it all is a very informative - though I've heard a bit biased - review. It tells you a lot about the game. As for shows like Filter, Attack of the Show, and Cheat! I find annoying. It's like, they've got the content that we want, but the writing is so annoying. At least X-Play jokes around WHILE talking about the game. With these other shows, a lot of the time I want to say, "Just shut up and get to the tech stuff you loudmouths." Especially Attack of the Show. They've got some good stuff, but they waste so much time with their stupid comments that I honestly don't give a darn about. Personally, I think it's worth it. Ever since TechTV got bought out, it's just about exclusively Video Games. Which, though many hate it and I feel sorry for this, is best for me, cause I don't care much about tech gadgets that make my mouth water but I'll never be able to buy. Same reason I hate window shopping. :animesigh
23. You know Tatsubei Yagyu, it's pretty funny, but the day you posted that post saying you dind' tknow when Sacred Stones was coming out was the very day it came out : Monday, March 23rd. As for Path of Radiance, I do not know. I surelyhope that they make it good, considering it will be the first FE game with graphics better than (basically) Snes. I hope it's something like 3D terrain, you select a unit, attack, then it goes into an awesome battle sequence. I don't want it to be overhead RTS style, though that is probably unavoidable. I just want them to well-use the 3D element of the Gamecube.
24. I like it so far. I've played FE7, and I find this one a great deal..more challening. This time, I'm playing it on Hard Mode to start out with. I'm on Chapter 6 on Hard Mode, and I've had to restart a half a dozen times. I'm getting what I wanted and more. I justhave to rely on my mad tactician skills..shoulda picked up that Torch Stave. I'm not using any of the strong units like Seth too, so the game is even more challening. Leveling up into many different units makes the game extremely difficult to figrue out what you want everyone to be. If you go tot he FESS board on Gamefaqs, half the topics are "What should I make this character" and "What should I promote ____ to?" Great Game. So happy there's another FE. To clear up earlier questions. A. 2 games. Sacred Stones for GBA and Path of Radiance, the first 3D one for Gamecube. Also the first FE game that the main character is not a Lord (he's a merc). B. I know that the game is separate from FE6 and FE7, a new universe again. So, no Roy or Marth. I don't know about Path of Radiance, but I'm getting sick of them starting all thesew new universes. I hope PoR has connections to some arlier game.
25. I have to just say...wow to the Next Gen consoles. I saw a clip of a War game for PS3. I thought it was an FMV, and then I saw it was gameplay. ... I swear, I almost had a heart attack. The graphics were amazing. Just undescribably amazing. This person fired a bazooka. You could perfectly see the smoke trail, the fire, the flame, the dirt flying up with explosions everywhere. I think, that if PS3's graphics are really that good (and they are) we're going to have 15 year olds with medical cases of Shell-Shock. ~RtT PS. I hope we can expect as much from Revolution.
