....And, my most eagerly awaited one of them all, the ending of the Naruto filler's.(I know i've got some people agreeing with me on that one, right?)[/COLOR']
I can't wait. After so long it's so good to hear the words "end of Naruto fillers" together in one sentence. It should be in February or March, right? I guess other than more Death Note I'm pretty excited about the english dub of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles and the xxxHolic movie, which has been licensed by FUNimation.

Oh yeah... I remember those days. Pokemon was definitely the best show when I was in 3rd grade. I remember running home just to make in time to watch Pokemon. I still have like a billion of those VHS tapes somewhere around here. I think I have the soundtrack for the 1st pokemon movie, too! I remember when the pokemons' names were easy to remember, too. Nowadays it seems like whoever made up the season 7 (or whatever season it is) names was on crack. I remember watching DBZ and Sailor Moon, too. And how I used to LOVE those shows. My brother and I would sometimes pretend to do that fusion thing that Goten and Trunks did. I think I watched every show that was on Toonami when I was a little kid. XD Ah.. good times, good times.

Manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle [Warning: Spoilers]
xmystic_silverx replied to Aya_Fujimiya_42's topic in Otaku Central
I'm current with the series I don't believe there are a lot of fans over here..
That's a dang shame, too. It has such a wonderful storyline and the characters have developed really well.
I've kinda been waiting for this to happen for a while so am definitely going to keep reading for a bit.
This was the last thing that I would have expected but que serĂ¡, serĂ¡. -
Oh god, no shipping wars, please.
Those are horrible. Where do they come up with these pairings in the first place? Personally, I don't see any of those pairings actually happening.
Hoo boy. Just wait till we get to the part when
L insists on being handcuffed to Light 24/7.

I can tell you that I'm waiting eagerly, heh heh. *rubs hands together*

I'm proud to say that I am one of the 26 people in my tiny town who was able to get a Wii even though I had to stand in line since 5:00AM to get one. I will never to that again. EVER. It was so miserable out in the cold. It was certainly worth it, though. Playing the Wii was the most fun that I've ever had playing a video game! 'specially Wii tennis. Yeah, it looks cheap and stupid but all the moving around that you have to do really gets you into it. I also got Zelda but I haven't beaten it yet because I procrastinate. It's a pretty good game so far! As far as complaints go, I'd say the only thing that my brother constantly complains about is the sensor. On zelda the wii remote is used to control the direction of arrows, boomerang, etc. but sometimes it'll stray off to the side and get "stuck". My brother will shake the remote to try and get the sensor to pick it up but it doesn't always work. Eventually he'll have to re-adjust the sensor or himself in order for it to pick it up. Maybe its just him and the way he has his arm facing, I don't know.
I never expected the Wii to have this much hype/demand (which was possible stupid of me), but I hope it has lasting power, too.
I thought it'd be the PS3 for sure, but I guess that shows how stupid I was. Those things are harder to come by than... well, anything! I mean, unless you plan on spending two (or more) car payments on one off of ebay. I think a lot of people have given up hope on trying to get one and went with the Wii instead.

Manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle [Warning: Spoilers]
xmystic_silverx replied to Aya_Fujimiya_42's topic in Otaku Central
Wow, no one's posted on this thread since '05? Jeez. And the manga is getting so good! I hope I'm not the only one still keeping track of it. I just got into Tsubasa back in May, I think? I don't really remember.
I've not really been a fan of CLAMP's art design before, but I really adore Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.
Same with me. The only experience that I had had with anything CLAMP was the dubb of Card Captor Sakura and that was a very long time ago. I've never really been interested in any other CLAMP titles either. There was something about the style that I didn't like. However, I like the style in Tsubasa despite the very elongated arms and legs. It's kinda neat, though. This is a really great series, but I think I'll have a problem waiting for a new chapter to come out (whenever it does) every week. I'm not a very patient person. Those of you who took a little break from it should start reading it again. It's taken a turn from a somewhat cheerful mood to a more dark (?) mood, I guess. CLAMP has certainly done a damn wonderful job of confusing me, and I have absolutely no idea where
they got the idea of turning Fai into a blood sucking enthusiast (even though he isn't that enthusiastic about it).
If you don't know what I'm talking about then go read it. Save me the trouble of confusing myself and/or making myself look like an idiot. Lawl. -
In my defense I am a huge fan of Iroh and now I'm really against Zuko because of what he did. But as a friend of mine pointed out Azula coerced him. But still it was IROH![/color']
Yeah, I know. I'm still mad about it too. *sigh* All he needs is to be humiliated and betrayed one more time to get through his thick skull that Iroh loves him and not his dear daddy. He'll turn to the good side. Believe it.

Wow, I've been behind with DN for awhile so I decided to catch up last night. Here are my thoughts: It was either episode 8 or 9 that had Raito taking eating a potato chip way too seriously. I would like to call that segment "How to properly annihilate Robbers and/or other commiters of not-so-serious crimes while doing your homework by Yagami Raito."
1. Do an equation with your right hand 2. Take a peak at the $300 dollar miniature TV in your potato chip bag 3. Write a name with your left hand 4. Take out a chip 5. eat it as dramatically as possible 6. next day, throw away $300 dollar TV (Be positive, it was only $300!)
I loved it. >_< Afterwards, I watched the Raw of episode 10 and I expected
the tennis scene to have more. Being the tennis player that I am, I guess I wanted it to be a bit more intense. I wished it would have been zoomed-out, if you know what I mean, to see them chasing and hitting the ball rather than the repeated ball bounce, noise of ball being hit, shot of L or Raito having already swung their racket.
Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
xmystic_silverx replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Heh, seems like my only questions are about the sharingan, and whatnot. In any case, I was just reading the chapter where Naruto fought Sasuke. (The rescue) During the little memory or background for Sasuke and Itachi. Itachi said something like
"Only 3 people have acquired the mane.... sharingan, including himself....(I might have it mixed up a little bit)".
Who are the other 2 that knew it? Or have they never revealed anything about it yet?
Well I did a count and we know that
Itachi, Kakashi, and Sasuke have been able to use the mangekyou sharingan. There's also that one guy that the Kyuubi mentioned when he saw Sasuke again. I forgot the name...
Assuming that "that one guy" it one of the 3 Itachi was talking about then that just leaves one guy left. I hope that
Kakashi killed Kazuku, but I know that it's not going to end up like that. The Akatsuki are sneaky little guys and there is no way that Kakashi could defeat one as quickly as he thought. They always have a trick up their sleeve or something. Remember when Kakashi's team and Gai's team thought that they were really fighting Itachi and Kisami during their trip to Sand? It was only an illusion and a damn good one. They had to really put up a fight just to defeat those illusions. The only reason that Sakura and Chiyo (I think that's her name) were able to beat Sasori was because Chiyo actually knew Sasori and most of his tricks. Chiyo's quick fingers + Sakura's strength = Pwnage. The only other Akatsuku member that anyone knows anything about would be Itachi, but since Sasuke is a little too busy hanging out at Orochimaru's Neverland farm, we can assume that no one is going to be taking him down anytime soon. Hopefully team Shika can defeat at least one of those guys. Hidan is a huge threat, him and his I-can't-die jutsu. It makes me want him to die all the more.

Yet on the other hand, I swear if Naruto goes somewhere along the lines of, "But saskue, I know there is still some good left in you, please come back with me." I will do something very horrible.
Ha! We all know Naruto and how obsessive he's become with trying to get Sasuke back. I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't try to talk him into going with him, and if he does it will probably result in a few punches to random body parts. Personally, I hope he does absolutely no talking to that jerk and then beats the living day-light out of him. Then, once Sasuke is cowering on the ground, unable to do anything else, Naruto should ask him if he wants to come home. Saying "no" will earn him another beating. With a "yes" we'll have ourselves a very happy Naruto carrying a very beat-up Sasuke back to Konoha. Hey, it could happen. -
Which would be an excellent idea except for one small problem that needs to be noted
Zuko betrayed his own uncle in favor of his father's love and attacked Aang and Katara. He's teamed up with Azula now and she's taken over Ba Sing Se
So I think think that takes Zuko out of the running.[/color']
I wouldn't be so sure. I totally agree with Lunox on this one. There is still time to return to the good side, ya know, so I wouldn't count him out just yet. There's something about characters like Zuko (*cough*Sasuke*cough*). You know that in the end they're probably, hopefully, going to end up on the good side. The problem I'm worried about is whether or not he will be able to, hopefully, redeem himself in time for Aang to save the world.

Anime Your 5 Absolute Favorite Anime
xmystic_silverx replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
Wow, this is going to be incredibly hard. Okay, here goes... 1. Yu Yu Hakusho - Yu Yu Hakusho was my first anime that I saw and stuck with until the very end. There was a marathon on Adult Swim and I just happened to catch it and I thought it was the funniest thing! Sure the animation isn't as good as most animes out there now but just something about it captures me. The characters are very likable and memorable (atleast, in my opinion). Another thing I like about it is the wonderful dubbing by Funimation. Yu Yu Hakusho, to me, could be described as one of the decent old-school animes. Heh, old-school. I feel like a gangster saying that. 2. .Hack//Sign - My brother got me into .Hack and I admit that when I first saw it I had absolutely no idea what was going on and I still couldn't tell you today. I like this anime because, at the time, I was into online computer RPGs and that is exactly what it is (more or less) so it automatically caught my attention. The detail is simply amazing and the thing I enjoy most about watching an episode of .Hack is listening to the music. The dub is certainly one of the best that I've seen. You should all check this one out and hopefully you won't get as confused as I did. 3. Naruto - I'll admit it, I'm a Narutard, and being one consequently makes me add Naruto to my list of favorites. This show was the first EVER, out of all the animes that I've seen, that I've actually liked the main character. A lot. It teaches a lot of lessons and shows us that putting a lot of hard work and effort into something will usually help us achieve our goals and overcome any obstacle. I guess it makes me think "Hey, just be thankful that you weren't born with some creature inside you that caused you to be shunned by society" or "Be thankful your brother isn't a psycho maniac who goes on a killing spree just to, ya know, test his power." The characters are original and go through their own problems that they eventually overcome. There is one set back about this anime and that would be the fillers. 'nuff said. 4. Death Note - This has got to be one of the best animes of the year. Everything is done so well and it doesn't stray from the manga at all. The animation, the music, the plot, the voice acting... it's just amazing. It's definitely different from everything else that's out there. It keeps you on the edge of your seat so you just have to watch the next episode. Raito and L are without a doubt the smartest anime characters that I've seen. They're two sides of the same coin and they're so close to each other and yet so far. You MUST watch this anime, or read the manga. At least do one of the two. You won't be disappointed. For my fifth choice I was going to but Avatar: TLA but I don't think that it's even considered an anime. That being the case, I don't have a fifth favorite, yet. -
The new season will start in March? Such a long time! I have trouble waiting for new Naruto chapters every thursday how am I going to wait three more months? Oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal, lol.
I believe Aang already knows how to fire bend, he has just chosen not to. More like he needs to master it.
I guess you're right. I totally forgot about the episode where he first tried fire bending. Well, in that case, I think Zuko should be the one to help him master it.
-
I tend to see this huge similarity between Zuko and Sasuke from Naruto, if that helps you in any way. Both are tormented by a victory that, in the end, will do nothing for them. It makes for a great character (if done well, which in both cases I believe they are), but it also makes for an unlikable one.
Don't I know it. I was thinking the same thing and I had actaully told my friend that Zuko had pulled a "Sasuke" which left her screaming and ranting. Their personalities are a lot alike but when I thought about it more I realized that even their childhoods were very similar as well.
Both had the desire to be better than their siblings in order to win the approval of their fathers.
In the end, I think I sympathize with Zuko more because his goal is a little more noble, for the lack of a better word, than Sasuke's. He wants to be loved by his father
while Sasuke just wants to kill Itachi no matter what it will cost him. Also, we can tell that Zuko isn't sure whether or not he made the right choice towards the end of the episode; he looked a little worried, not?
For Sasuke, he's made his choice and doesn't regret it.
Yup, yup! :) Season three is going to be killer, which all these possiblities floating about.
I was just thinking how *amazing* a conflict it would be if Iroh died because of Zuko's decision. I would love and hate for it to happen. Iroh is my favorite character, but the struggle Zuko would face would be such an amazing jolt to his character.

It would be an amazing conflict,
especially if Azula was the one to kill Iroh. Just add a little more coal to the fire. I really don't know what's going to happen because, like you said, there are way too many possibilities. Aang still needs to learn fire bending and I think that Zuko should be the one to teach him. I hope Zuko will join the good side. I don't think that the creators would really let such a great character go to waste like that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
Oh yeah, does anyone have an idea of then the new season will start? Like I said before, I just started watching Avatar and so I never watched the first finale and have no clue how long it takes for the new season to air.
I'm thinking about buying Avatar on DVD, which is huge for me, because I rarely ever buy DVDs. I guess I like the show that much. P:
I want to do that too but for me, its hard to watch something I've seen already twice. I used to buy YYH DVDs up the wazoo but then money became hard to come by for me and I just stopped. However, they have some awsome special features on those DVDs.
-
Watched the season finale. My thoughts:
I'm still upset over the execution of the whole episode. Firstly, happy and contented and smiling Zuko was just bad, because it was way too sudden and unexpected. Then, the writers/creators miss the crucial moment and Zuko decides to listen to AZULA. What? Zuko is many things, but he's not that stupid. Yeah, his drive to earn his father's approval is a huge part of him, but seriously!

I agree.
When you see him smiling you're thinking that he's starting to change and in my mind I was definitely thinking that he was going to join Aang and his group and even more so after the scene with Katara in the cave. It confused me the whole time! I couldn't believe that he actually listened to his psychotic sister over his uncle who loves him like his own son. The majority of the time I was thinking that Zuko just had to be playing along and was actually going to pick Aang's side. Sadly, it didn't turn out that way. I understand that his father's approval is something he really strives for but what has his father given him? After everything he has put him through he still wants to be loved by him? It's kinda like "Come on Zuko, catch a clue!"

But the character I want to hug the most right now is Iroh. His dissappointment in Zuko must so massive... it's heartbreaking to think about.

Zuko noticed that dissappointment and I think that its going to trigger something. Hopefully. I would be awfully sad if Zuko says on his sister's side throughout the rest of the series.
I guess I could say that I'm a new "Avatard." I just joined the bandwagon last week, I think, and I am very impressed with what this show has to offer. The first thing that caught me was the stunning animation. The battle scenes are the best I have ever seen! Just the movements... they just "flow" really well. It's not the same thing over and over again (ex: DBZ). Another element of this show that I absolutely love is the humor. The jokes and situations that they use are things that I would laugh about in a normal day. I mean, that foamy fan-boy guy is just genius. I could watch The village of Kyoshi and Avatar Day over and over and that guy screaming his lungs out would never cease to entertain me. He has got to be my favorite character that is not a main character. My favorite character is... hm... Sokka. I guess it's because he's dang hilarious and that he can still get by without being a bender. I do wonder where people get their pairings from, though. I understand Aang and Katara (though I don't really like it) and Sokka and Suki/Yue but Zuko and Katara? The only time that they really had a talk without fighting was on the Season finale, in a cave, and for a very short period of time. And I'm pretty sure that once you watch the ending of it, you'll probably get the feeling that the whole "talk" did absolutely nothing to change Katara's viewpoint of Zuko. It was very disappointing and I'm still fuming about it.
...I wasn't totally sold on the anime version until the eye-popping
writing scene
(I don't know why I'm tagging that, but whatever) toward the end of the episode. Earlier on, I had been a little bothered by the relative dearth of music. But then that sequence came out and completely owned me. My god.
Wasn't that awsome? I LOVED that scene! I wasn't planning on watching the anime series but I think it's pretty good. I think the voices mostly fit, especially L's. The only voice that I didn't particularily like was Aizawa's. I don't know if I got the name right, but I'm talking about the guy on the investigation team with the fro. I have a question: Does anyone know when the Death Note movies will be available to download or when they might come to America? I've been wondering for a long time and I didn't know where I should ask this question, and since this is a Death note thread I figured "Hey, why not."
-
And I'll be honest: I cried during
Sora, Kairi and Riku's first reunion scene.

So did I. I almost had the same reaction as Sora. I was really suprised that he finally showed up and when
Sora started crying about Riku
my friends and I couldn't help but say "Awww" ;.;
My biggest complaint is that
giving Kairi a Keyblade and then letting her use it for, oh, all of three seconds was an incredibly cruel tease.

Kairi
getting a keyblade of her own kinda ruined it for me. I thought, "Wow, now all they need is to give Donald and Goofy a keyblade!" I didn't think that she needed one and I don't understand why they actually gave her one.
It's supposed to be some great ancient weapon and now they're giving it out to everyone? It's not gonna be so great after awhile.
But all of that aside, I'm going to try and get the secret ending. Let me make sure I have this straight--if I'm playing on normal mode, I have to get Jiminy's journal up to 100%, right? Are there any other conditions?
Yep. That's it. Nothing else. I have 99% right now and I can't beat the last three paradox cups with their required scores. I'm so close, yet so far.
-
Nah, there's a seperate % thing for Jiminy's Journal and the Gummi Ship stuff. I'm just doing it until I get a Chocobo, Cactuar, and Tonberry model Gummi Ships, but then I'll probably keep on playing it just for fun. Also, I recall a long time ago, I thought the Human-shaped Nobodies were called Unknowns... Am I mistaken? Maybe they were called that in Chain of Memories...
Okay, that's good. I think they might have been called Unknowns in CoM. Im not sure and I dont have the game to check. To Hanabishi: I'm worse than everyone here! I saw the secret ending before the game was released in America and I don't regret it. Not only that but I saw the opening and the regular ending as well. I could care less whether or not I was ruining it for myself. I'm going to tell you that I will never get the secret ending on KHII. Why? Because on the last tournament at the colessium you have to get 15,000 points to complete that mission in Jiminy's journal and just getting through that last paradox cup is hard enough! So, if we dont beat all those minigames that have absolutely nothing more to do with the storyline, we dont deserve to see the ending? I think beating the game should make us worthy enough to watch it. Its not like jumping on enough ballons with tigger is going to make us understand the ending anymore than most people already do. Anway.. My thoughts on the secret ending are:
That the armored people in the video are not from the previous KH games. I read somewhere that KHIII was supposed to be about the past of the keyblades so I can only think that the people that we see are the original owners of the keyblades. I think the words "keyblade war" flash across the screen and maybe at one time there were a lot of people who came to possess a keyblade and they all fought. It's hard to say. Atleast in the Deep Dive video you could figure out one of the characters. The forums at KHinsider and Kingdom Hearts ultimania have a couple of really good theories that you can check out. But I'm positive that Tetsuya said that Sora's story is over so he wont be in KHIII.
-
I think I started watching anime when I was in third grade. Of course, I never knew that pokemon was an anime (I don't think I even knew the word anime back then) or that it was even from japan. Then in fifth grade I started watching Tenchi Muyo, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Card Captors and Digimon and I had a period of time when I was obsessed with them. At that age I still didn't know that they were called anime. I just watched them because they were cooler looking than Spongebob and the characters were so likable. Then after I got a computer I learned a lot about the anime that I liked and I contiued to watch more and read manga, too. Now, I read more manga than watch anime. Mangas can be just as interesting as a novel. The only difference is that it's drawn out in comic style and it reads from right to left (or atleast, thats the only difference to me)t. Reading manga and watching anime entertains me. There are simply too many reasons to list of why I like it. I don't know if I'm sure of why I like it; I just do.

... it's amazing how much the addition of a few new characters has made the series infinitely more complicated.

It is amazing. Though I have to admit, it took me four or five chapters to actually get used to
Near working on the case and not L. I couldn't believe L was the first to die so I was a bit angry about it. Now I think that Near is a smaller version of L (like someone said before) and like L, he's got his own little habits like the twirling of the hair. He sits like L too.
I think I'm up to chapter 83. The most interesting thing for me to watch is
what each side does. Light kinda lost his cool when his sister was kidnapped and let Mello get one of the death notes, which suprised me; I didn't think that Light would let them take the death note so easily. I thought he would have come up with a plan to get his sister and the note but Mello was obviously way more prepared.
This has got to be the best manga series that I've read so far! Usually I read what my friends recommend but this one I just decided to pick it up and read it. You know a manga series is good when someone decides to make a live-action movie out of it.
-
My brother does, Tatsubei. I could really care less about the gummi ship (do you need to do all the missions to get 100%?). I let him do everything that has to do with the darned things. Even if it's not as borning as the first one, I still hate to do them. My brother actually changes the design (if thats what you call it) on the gummi ship on the first game from time to time. He calls is "pimping his gummi ship." And about the button mashing at the end during the fight with Xenmas, let's just say my hand is still recovering from it.

Anime What anime do you wish you never saw in the first place?
xmystic_silverx replied to serenayasha's topic in Otaku Central
Excel Saga. I watched two episodes and then left the room because I didn't understand what the heck was going on! All I got out of watching it was that the poor dog is a back-up food supply. I'm pretty sure I lost a few brain cells... -
That's a good question. Anime/Manga has taught me: 1. common japanese expressions 2. that original sub is much better than the dub (sometimes) 3. that Kurama is a sexy man beast 4. that anything can happen in a two dimensional world 5. fangirls can be so annoying to the point that I want to commit suicide 6. how to do the sexy jutsu ( who doesn't?) Yeah, that's about it. Sadly, I haven't learned anything important or anything that no one else knows. Hah! Because everyone knows what I'm talking about in #3. EDIT: Actually, I might have learned some japanese history, which I have already forgotten. But now that I actually think about it(and read the first post all the way through), I did learn a lot. During my FMA obsession I learned a lot about alchemy and chemistry. I was really fascinated in it for a long time, too. In the first episode I learned more about the struggle between science and religion. In Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X I learned the ways of the Samurai, kinda. Watching both taught me how life was in Japan in the meiji era. I don't think I learned anything about Naruto or Yu Yu Hakusho, unfortunately.

Hmm... I think that Raito Yagami from Death Note is a pretty badass character. He starts out as this highly intelligent and understanding teenager with a high sense of justice but then later he turns out to be
a killer. I really like him, even though he's become somewhat of an evil bastard.

xmystic_silverx I added spoiler tags to your post. Not everyone has seen a particular anime so please be sure to use spoiler tags. ~indifference
