[font="Garamond"][i]"Ahhhhhh."[/i] First of the team to arrive, Elena Ward stretched her arms up above her head and cracked her knuckles, enjoying the tug of her muscles as she sat in her computer chair. [b]"Good morning, Haruto!"[/b] She called to her boss as he walked out of the glass elevator and into the office. Haruto Sakaki was 32 and had been part of the original STNJ along with Robin and Amon before the Factory fiasco. He stayed on as a hunter during the restructuring and reformation of New STNJ and had eventually been promoted from field agent to director of the New chapter after Amon had disappeared and things had settled down. He still looked mid-to-late twenties with his young, almost baby-ish face, hardly older than Elena herself. She knew that she should call him Mr. Sakaki but he didn't mind and it lent the office a feeling of kinship and comraderie. The two got along well, almost like siblings at times. [b]"Good morning Elena, you're here early."[/b] he called back, grinning. Elena smiled back. [b]"I brought the gremlin some breakfast."[/b] She replied, jabbing her thumb in the direction of a brown paper bag on the desk beside her, the gremlin, of course, being Sandy Matthews, the thirteen year old craft user who had been staying at the office on the couch since they recruited him a few weeks ago. They were still trying to figure out a living situation so until they did, the office was the safest place for him. He really hated that nickname, making a face whenever he heard it, which always made Elena laugh. [b]"Hmm, is that a biological clock I hear ticking?"[/b] Haruto smirked at her. [b]"Oh shut it, old man."[/b] she hucked a pen at him from her seat and missed him by a mile. She did however, quite effectively hit Michael Lee who was just coming in the door way. Michael Lee had also been involved in the original STNJ as a brilliant hacker and tech support for the team. He left for a time after the fall of the Factory but came back of his own free will a few years later. He served as Haruto's right hand man and stopped his own habit of sleeping over in the office, though he always stayed late when they needed him. [b]"Ouch. Elena, watch where you're throwing stuff! No wonder you can't aim your powers, jeez." [/b]Elena pushed her glasses up her nose indignantly and turned back to face her computer. [b]"Whatever... Remind me to stop making you two coffee when I get here in the morning."[/b] Haruto smiled as he inhaled the scent of freshly brewed coffee and ruffled Elena's hair as he strode past. [b]"Ahh, sweet angel of coffee." [/b]She batted his hand away with her own and smoothed her hair back down. [b]"So what is on the agenda today, good sir?"[/b] Elena swiveled in her chair and turned to face him as he stood in the doorway of his office. Michael walked up to Elena and dropped a manila folder onto her lap. [b]"We'll head to the briefing room once everyone arrives. But trust me, it looks like it'll be a fun one."[/b] Elena groaned when she heard this. When he said that, they were never the fun ones. She flipped through the folder, skim reading the information Michael had dug up. [b]"Sounds like pretty standard stuff, Michael."[/b] She took a sip from her coffee cup as he spoke. [b]"I thought so too, until we uncovered rumours that he may be working with Zaizen."[/b] Takuma Zaizen, the administrator of the first STNJ and the Factory, and the mastermind who had orchestrated the whole thing. Since the destruction of The Factory, there had been numerous attacks on witches and it seemed as though Zaizen had decided that he would try to eradicate them all. [b]"A witch working with Zaizen..."[/b] Elena breathed, flipping through the file again. [b]"This just got a little bit more interesting."[/b] *************************** Hello everyone! [font="Garamond"]J Bernard sat at the breakfast table of her home, coffee cup in one hand, her other hand resting under her chin, supporting her head. She took a sip absentmindedly, letting her mind wander for the time being. [i]A council of twelve stood before her. â??We require proof, Madam Bernard, for now, all the council can see is a plea to save ones own skin. Have you any proof at all?â? â??I do, that young miss Summers was the culprit, I took the town Lawman to the crime scene and showed him this.â? â??A doll? â?? the speaker of the council was puzzled, and a quiet buzz trickled down the line. â??What you speak is the truth, but upon its foot reads the name of the young Miss, and the lawman that went with me will attest to overlooking it in his initial sweep.â? â??Is what Madam Bernard says the truth?â? the lawman nodded. â??Be more careful next time, Mr. McCoy. Now bring Miss Summers to the stand." A young girl still in shock approached the stand. She was afraid, so much so that she was trembling, but she did not speak. She only gazed at Bernard. Bernard had to look away from her fear, replacing the scared little girl with that of the brick walls of her island home.[/i] J Bernard shook her head as the vision faded her memory. She scrunched up her eyes and scratched her head before draining her coffee cup before standing up abruptly and bringing the coffee cup to the sink. She rinsed it out with some water and placed it on the counter to dry. Bernard went into her room to grab a light sweater and buttoned it up before pulling on her shoes, a pair of beat up flats. She grabbed her keys from a ring in the hallway and headed out the door, pulling the door shut behind her and turning the key, until the little click told her it was locked. She dropped the key into her sweater pocket and walked out onto South Road. [b]"The Recorder...[/b]" she mumbled to herself as she headed North, unsure of how she felt about her destination but wanting to get it over with. She walked deliberately, her arms wrapped around herself to keep her warm. She passed through the Market, through the sights sounds and textures that made it seem as if it was almost a normal village. She kept pace as she walked down the road, lost in thought that were more like flashes of memory than any concrete memory with specifics attached to them. She ached to remember sometimes but she buried herself in work to keep herself occupied. She sighed but her attention was rapt again when she spotted the building. [b]"The Recorder."[/b][/font]

Make that 3 years, 8 months, 3 days, 16 hours since I found out. I still remember the overwhelming loss of control coupled with a surge of power that I felt. It was like I had tumbled into this deep dark hole and I was staring up at the world from the bottom of this pit. Everything was distant; distorted. And I would call out and call out but no one would look in on me. I screamed for what felt like hours. I had been in my room one moment, reading a book and the next it was like someone had pressed the mute button on the world. There seemed to be this great disconnect between my mind and my body. And then there was nothing, a flash, and then nothing again. And then just like that, I was snapped back into my body, back on the surface of the earth and I knew that something was different. I told my parents what had happened and they exchanged looks like they just knew. That day was also the day that I found out both of my parents were seeds. A seed is what they call a person who is descended from a craft user from long ago, you know. Iâ??d heard the term a lot when I was growing up but I never really understood what it meant until after my own powers showed up. Suddenly there was this whole other aspect of myself that I had to be very wary of and not to give in to, just in case it took over and I awakened. My name is Elena Ward, I am 26 years old, I am a craft user, and I am the head of New STNJ. I can usually control electricity. Or at least, I try to. Fourteen years ago it was discovered that The Factory was taking witches captured alive and experimenting on them, using their bodies as the basis for this witch-repellant liquid called Orbo. After the headquarters were destroyed and the people in charge were caught and incarcerated, a new organization was formed. They called it Hope. This time not only would they try to capture witches alive but they would also try to control them and rehabilitate them. Hope is working on a cure for those who awaken, something that will eradicate their powers completely. Orbo has since been discontinued, the remaining vials were destroyed. We use an artificial type of Orbo that is similarly effective but for shorter periods of time, so hunts are never supposed to go over 2 hours or things can get a little bit messy. There is some bad news, though. Not everyone responsible for overseeing the Factory was caught. To this day weâ??re still not sure where theyâ??ve gone and that canâ??t bode well. They had some powerful contacts in the hunting world and they also hated witches, craft users and seeds alike. We could all be in danger now. Thereâ??s been an increase in the amount of awakenings in the last year. Weâ??re not sure why or how but something is making this switch in seeds and craft users flip. And suddenly theyâ??re out of control. And then before we can hunt them, they go missing. A lot of seeds have also been turning up dead, usually by the hand of a craft user. New STNJ have really got their hands full, not only with the usual hunts but also with all these weird things going on in the world of seeds and craft users as well. We have a lot of work to do. No you don't have to have seen it to participate, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll fill you in as best as you can. More holes will be filled to the starting point of the story in my first post. Participants will be chosen based on their sign ups, I probably won't take everyone or I may request you pick a different classification. I obviously don't want all craft users as this will be too dissimilar to the anime and less interesting if we don't have a lot of variation. She has the utmost respect for her team-mates but will not hesitate to harass them if they're out of line. She is slightly neurotic and despite her casual appearance her office is always ridiculously tidy. Why New STNJ: After her powers appeared, her parents urged her to seek contact with a group that could help her understand what being a craft user meant as well as possibly find a place that could help her train her powers and get them under control. Bored with real life, she applied for NSTNJ and never looked back.
