Well, it's a screenplay so I assume we're supposed to write it in screenplay format. Here's an example: (although it's rough because I can't use exact deminsions on here) INT: OTAKUBOARDS SURVIVOR MERCENARY CAMP -- DAY (As DARREN enters the room) ALEXA What's up? DARREN Not much, where's Aaryanna? AARYANNA (Appearing in a cloud of smoke) Here I am. These smoke bombs work great! EDIT: And yes Alexa, Sandy said that we can come up with some accompanying music for the script if we'd like. I'm just not sure exacltly how we'd get it to play (in the right spot) for the script. Or maybe we could just kinda say this is the song by so-and-so and it starts here/ends here
oh! Okay, that's great, it helps me alot ^^; I've written 'scripts' before, but never in true screenplay format.. Maybe I can atleast start tonight. How much are you two writing? Your entire ideas out, or maybe just an intro section? Edit: alright! I'm excited for the music part, I pride myself on great taste in choosing fitting music... But this is something that I think we should do very last, once the story is tweaked, so I can decide on the exact tone. But it'll be fun! I know codes for a music player, and have a place to host.. but I'm not sure exactly how we'd get it into the screen play itself.

I think we should be able to relay it around through PMs like we did with the banners.. we should ask though. Also, seeing as it's a screenplay, are we writing it like [description of scene here] Alexa: blah blah [something happens here] or can it be an actual story format? Edit: quick question - Darren, you mentioned I had a strength in music, and this is true.. I didn't really think it could come into play here, but what do you guys think - should I pick out some accompanying music? Or atleast make an attempt to?

I love these ideas! I am totally loving this challenge, as I am secretly (not anymore xD) a giant writing geek. 8D Class trip is a go, but I think that maybe going on a school camping trip or something, and then having the bus break down might be more fun.. Crystia of course, will go for help, she won't come back.. So Gavin takes charge and we go to look for her -- only to find her body! Somehow we get separated, find Gavin's body.. then we're each slowly picked off. The three of us, are of course, the survival savvy ones, and perhaps we use our slighly 'mercenary' type skills to catch the killer!

We'll be ready for the next round, no doubt.

it sucks. I can't believe we are down to three o_o It really was too early to not only lose one teammate, but then our captain too, right out of the gate. I have faith though, you guys! I second the nomination of Aaryanna, because she has done nothing but impeccable work so far.
-
-___- regardless of whether or not an apology is necessary, I'll give one. I'm so sorry I didn't check it earlier, I expected the challenge to be another week long thing (clearly already addressed the time issue) but I had an exam this morning and spent the entire day out of the house after.. Bah D: Good work everyone else, you rock my socks, and the best of luck to you.
I think the strike idea is probably the best one, it seems to fit our "mercenary" persona better that way. I've already sent off my vote, so I guess all I can do is wish everyone luck. As Crystia said, if I'm still here for the next round, the gloves are so definitely off in regard to the other teams.
qft, guys. Too bad we didn't make the strike out or some idea around that clear enough, but all the same, our avatars and banner rock and I wouldn't change them for anything. Best of luck, team. Hope to see you next round.

seconded for the second, yo.

Lovin' the mercenaries one, it totally rocks. That's where my vote goes. Thanks, Aaryanna! Favourite animal? Based on looks, I love the cheetah. So sleek and beautiful, and they run so fast.. I've always loved cheetahs. When I grow up, I hope to have cats (though it's funny, right now we have 2 dogs, and one is a bichon!) What's your favourite hobby and why? Well I think I partly answered, but soccer is probably my top priority, it gives me a rush and place to take out all my aggression! Music would be second, because I think it's so amazing how the music just comes together, and it makes me so happy when I perform with my fellow bandmates =3 Then of course, are my videogames. Also somewhat of a stress reliever, and they're just fun. If you could use one song (set in loop) for the soundtrack of your life, what would it be? Haha, hard. Ummm.. as of right now, I'm tempted to say Jynweythyk Ylow from the Marie Antoinette Soundtrack. I'm really into instrumentals right now, and it's such a neat mix of piano and harpsichord.
-
although purple cobras seems to be the most popular, I'd like to toss my team name into the ring at the last second, sorry it took so long! If we went with red, I think that The Mercenaries would be a cool team name.
-
My photoshop skills are alright, once we decide I can try and whip something up >_> Aaryanna would probably be best for the job, because her banners are always really neat =3 but I can contribute in any way you need, I'm not entirely photoshop-ically challenged.

y helo thar. I'm clearly Alexa (or Anomaly if you wish =3), and I'm 16. I'm in grade eleven and at this point I am exactly at the halfway point in highschool which is both scary and exciting. After I graduate I'd like to major in English and also attend the Emily Carr Art Institute in Vancouver, British Columbia. I'm heavily involved in extracurricular activities, I'm in 2 bands outside of the main school band, Jazz 1 and Wind Ensemble and I play trumpet for each of them. I've been playing trumpet for 5 years now, and music is a big part of my life. Soccer is my other main activity, and I've been playing that for almost 13 years, the last 4 years of which have been played on a club team, competitively. I haven't really been around OB that long. I did join in 2003 but almost immediately went into OB hibernation. I was new to messageboards and I was intimidated by this one. Sometime last year I came back, got semi-active for awhile, then let my interest re-peter out. I'm back yet again, and hopefully for good, because it's been nothing but good experiences so far. I really hope I can meet alot of new people this time around. Team Captain: I'd like to second a vote for Crystia/indifference. Team Colour: I'd actually like to put out a vote for red or mayhaps teal. I do love teal... Team Name: Eh.. I'm working on it. I'll be back with an edit!

I like acoustic, and alternative. I'd probably have to go with Emily Haines as my favourite vocalist. She doesn't have an amazing voice in terms of it's really booming or rich, but it's haunting and it suits her music so well. She is the lead singer of the band Metric, which is an alternative almost electronica sort of sound, and fits it just right, and she also branched off in 2006 to do some solo stuff with her backup band, the Soft Skeletons. It was mostly piano and orchestral sound and her voice just gave me the chills. It's pretty, and she has a very good range, and can switch from a high girlish voice to a low raspy voice. I think she's neat and I'd recommend giving her a listen.

No one >_> As usual, it seems xD I think that I will celebrate SAD again this year instead - Singles Awareness Day. I give out much love to all my single friends, and last year I gave out 50 cards or something - even to my ex-boyfriend! Shocking, and awkward. It was actually really fun. Then I will probably do homework after. Which is.. less fun.

1. What name would you like to be used for you during this competition? I'm cool with Alexa or Anomaly. 2. What is your age and gender? 16 + Female 3. What country do you come from? Canadaaa! 4. What areas of OtakuBoards you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses? Gah. Well seeing as I'm still getting into regular posting, I'll just put where I spend the most time. Dunno if they're really strengths buut RPGs & General Otaku Lounge discussion. Weaknesses? Everything else xD Debates&Discussion (I'd like to get involved but I admit - I'm intimidated!) and Art/Graphics, where I'd also like to get involved. 5. Name one member of OtakuBoards that you consider your friend here. Dragon Warrior - I've known him the longest, and he was always really easy to talk to and approachable. It's been very fun getting to know him, and I look forward to continue doing so. He's been a great source of humour and understanding during my lame teenage angst, and I hope I can give back half as much as he does to me. Plus, without him, I wouldn't have my lovely husband =3 To steal my own quote back, Mad lobins. 6. What one thing would you take with you to a deserted island? Does it have to be something I actually own? If it does, I'd say my ipod. It's been said already, music would keep you sane. But I'd have to worry about the batteries so then maybe my trumpet.. If we could take people, I'd take my best friend Jon. 7. Why do you want to participate to OtakuBoards Survivor 4? It seems like a lot of fun. I love that there are so many neat things like this on the OB and it's about time I get involved and try to become a real member - I'd like to meet more people and I know this would be a good way to go about it.

There aren't all that many in my area, sadly D: I'll probably be hitting up Sakuracon in Seattle (anybody going?!), and Anime North in Toronto, Ontario. Then there's the little con in Calgary in the spring, Otafest, and here, Animethon, in August, and maybe Anime Evolution in British Columbia. These are all 'I hopes', anyway. I have more than a 50% chance of going to all of them =3 And yes, I'll be cosplaying at all *laughs*

The OtaKuties- Critiques/Betting Thread [E]

Anomaly finally changed her username, and she was spot-on with the Fresh Prince parody. Two gold stars to her. Unfortunately, the white-person-faking-gangsta joke is capable of wreaking havoc if it's not done right. I hope my body can take it.

I thought it might be a good time to change up the old (and I do mean old) username. I'll be honest, I worried a bit about whether or not people would take the white-person-faking-gangsta the right way.. I'm glad that it seeems they did. Thanks! Thanks Sandy and BKStyles also for your critiques! I'm doing something right, apparently, haha. The picture was fun, and the lyrics were fun. I hope I can continue bringing my attitude to the table, and not disappoint in the next round. And I can't forget to give mad love to anybody who put a bet on me xD I couldn't believe someone bet on me before my first round picture was even up.. so I knew I had to do something... interesting, atleast. xD -
Possibly my favourite quote by a teacher last year. Alexa: What do you do if you're too dumb? Mr. Braye: Hope that you marry a rich man. Alexa: I meant at guitar.
Thanks, I'll try. Last year we were tight. But hey sometimes things change. So what ere you supposed to do about it.
That's totally the thing you gotta keep in mind, people change and grow apart. My best friend of NINE YEARS and I aren't even on speaking terms anymore. And you know what? It was his choice. I disagreed with his lifestyle (incessant drinking and doing drugs) and he just flipped out and that was about it. It seemed really sudden and I wanted to talk to him about it but.. yeah. Not to mention he didn't like my boyfriend at the time, so I couldn't ever see them at the same time. Talking? Didn't happen. Lots of other people got mixed up in it, and now, from what I know, he said quite a bit of bad things to his new friends behind my back. Maybe not anymore. Hopefully, anyway =/ All I can say is that if he's still talking to you at all like an acquaintance, pull him aside and ask him whats up. Explain your point of view, tell him what you told us "it seems like you've been doing ____ lately, have I done something wrong?" If he denies it, or gets angry or just ignores you.. he's probably not worth keeping around.

In the past few days I've found myself really getting into hip hop and rap. None of the mainstream stuff, but artists like Nujabes, and O.U.O. I think my favourite song right now is Thank You by Nujabes. Nujabes did much of the music for the anime Samurai Champloo, which I'd say is arguably one of the best anime OSTs I've heard. It's clever rhyming set up over really pretty background music. Lots of piano and guitar, and interesting drum rhythms. I really love Nujabes and I'd urge you to check them out, if you like hip hop or rap, or are just open to new things.

You did say be creative, right? Well this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, I'll tell you how I became the prince(ss) of a town called Bel Air. In Western Canada born and raised, On the internets is where I spent most of my days, chatting, surfing, relaxing all cool, playing mine sweeper flags, being old school. When a couple of n00bs who were up to no good, started making trouble in the OB hood, I got in one little fight and the mods got scared, They said "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air." And this is where I can't think of anything else xD I'm sure you get the gist, though. What's your favourite hobby? Hah. Hobbies. Despite my very minute amount of spare time to actually participate in hobbies due to homework, I somehow manage to have them. I do alot of extracurricular things, but one that's really important to me is soccer. I've been playing soccer since I was 4, so this is my twelfth year. I've always loved being active and doing sports, despite how clumsy I am. I won't lie to you, I have most certainly tripped over my fair share of people and soccer balls in my career, and had many an injury, usually self inflicted xD. I play for a club, this is my fourth year playing competitively. Last year I was on a top team and we managed to win provincials. Which was obviously much win, in more ways than one. I love it because it keeps me active, I meet tons of new people every season, and it's a great outlet for my energy and my anger. I honestly get such a rush just standing on the pitch. What do you think your best personality trait would be? Gah. I hate conforming D: But I'd say it's my sense of humour (what is this, the fourth time you've heard that?), which I think is illustrated by my picture 8D When there's an awkward moment, or someone can't think of what to say, I like to make a joke to lighten the mood. I also love my sense of humour because it allows me to embellish stories to make them fun to listen to, or atleast people tell me they are. Unfortunately though, much of my humour leans to the sarcastic side, and when people can't recognize it, they think I'm being mean.

RPG Faking The Books: The Tale of Lana & Matthias [PG]

Quickly she undid the ropes that bound him, and removed the cloth from his mouth. "Finally, I--" Matthias began to speak but she clamped her hand down over his mouth firmly. "Shut it. Now." Ceredwin barked at him. It wasn't a suggestion, it was an order. Matthias glared at her, but he obliged as her hand went to her dagger. "Say your goodbyes to this place. It's likely the last you'll ever see of it." She stood from her kneeling position, and he followed suit, stretching his aching limbs. "I'll wait in the doorway for you. Don't take long." Ceredwin told him, and briskly walked over to the doorway of the workshop. Matthias stood still for a moment, still half in a daze, the other half of him trying to figure out exactly what was going on, or if maybe this was all an elaborate joke. He could think of several reasons of why this could happen, but he wanted to believe that he'd left that life behind... Matthias sighed and walked over to the counter where he'd spent many hours planning and building his inventions. He ran his hand over the wood, feeling it's familiar texture, mixed with dents and chips from years of wear and accidents. Matthias' hand stopped when he felt his tool belt. It had been his tool belt since he'd moved into this place, and he trusted no one else with it. He couldn't imagine being parted from it... Maybe he didn't have to be. He glanced over at Ceredwin's figure in the door. She was facing the other way. Quickly he rolled his shirt up a little, and fastened the toolbelt around his middle. He yanked his shirt back down and tucked it into his pants. Matthias hoped she hadn't taken a good look at him. The tool belt definitely made him look heavier. And lumpier, too. 'Please please don't look too close at me...' he silently thought to himself. Matthias gave a final sweeping look over his dark studio, and then headed to the doorway. "I'm ready." He told her. "That took ages," she replied. "about damn time. Let?s go then.? Ceredwin grabbed his wrist roughly. ?Make a move to escape, and your wrist will be broken.? Matthias looked at her incredulously, but didn?t reply. They traipsed through the kitchen and out the door into the night. **** ?So? do you have any hobbies?? Matthias was grasping at straws and he knew it, but he was desperate to open up a conversation. He needed to get to know her. Needed a chance to explain how this was all a big misunderstanding. ?Shut up.? She rolled her eyes. ?I want this trip to go as smoothly as possible. And it definitely can if you do NOT talk to me.? ?Just trying to make conversation?? Matthias mumbled. ?It?s a long trip. Might as well keep each other company.? ?Hah!? Ceredwin scoffed at him. ?I?ve been alone most of my life. Who needs company? Surely you understand. You lived all alone in that windmill. Why bother with it now?? Matthias puffed himself up. ?Because you are a lady, and I am a gentleman. And gentlemen generally try to make conversation to put the lady at ease.? She seemed to soften up a bit. ?There is no such thing as a real gentleman?? -
Weird, I don't think I've seen a single Taurus yet =/ So I'll throw my sign into the mix, to switch it up a little xD 1) What day is your birthday? April 28th 2) What is your zodiac sign? Taurus! Everyone loves bulls, MIRITE? 3) How does your zodiac sign describe your personality? Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac and associated with material pleasure. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a practical, reliable, patient, affectionate, sensuous, ambitious, and determined character, but one which is also prone to laziness, jealousy, inflexibility, greediness, and stubbornness. In terms of anatomy, Taurus is said to rule the vocal chords, tonsils, palate, throat, neck, ears, and lower jaw. 4) Does the description of your zodiac actually describe you? Why? I could probably agree that I am materialistic, and I think reliable, affectionate, ambitious, and determined apply to me. And then the laziness and stubbornness are also pretty applicable xD 5) How does your zodiac sign PWN over the rest? Well in terms of numbers, it's actually sheer fail. Bulls are a bovine, and red meat is good.

I will just pick my favourite game, overall, for the entire year, out of everyyy system. Okami for the PS2. Great looking, completely visually appealing, it has a very unique art style, that was a definite 10/10 off the bat. The soundtrack to the game was perfect, every scene flowed so nicely, and much of it sounded like very authentic feudal japanese music complete with Taiko drums and shamisen. I would definitely buy the soundtrack for this game. The gameplay was really easy to get the hang of, as was camera controls. The weapons were very neat and inventive, but the best thing was how interactive it was. One of the weapons you could use was painting. Seriously. it sounds nuts and like it might not work too well with gameplay mechanics, but it so did. One of the points while on your quest is to get all the brush sets, and use them as weapons, or a way to make your quest easier. You could draw bombs, trees, fill in where something once was to bring it back, paint stars in the sky, and the sun and more. I think it's an ingenious system, and I clocked many hours in one weekend and probably wasn't even close to half way through the game. All this comes together just right, and I had alot of fun playing it. I don't think it got enough coverage, personally. I had heard nothing about it until it came into my Blockbuster, which is disappointing, because this game is great. It's comparable to Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is one of my favourite RPGs ever. To sum it up: Okami = much win. You = much fail if you don't even try it.

RPG Faking The Books: The Tale of Lana & Matthias [PG]

The girl snickered "Kill you? Ah but my friend... Then I don't get the bounty." She pressed down harder on the dagger. "B-b-bounty? Why would there be a bounty out for me? I'm just an inventor! I live alone, I keep to myself!" She tilted her head, the shadows receding so he could see her smile "You really think I haven't heard that one before, don't you?" The girl shook her head. "Come on then. I want to turn you in quick, before someone finds us and I have to fight them for you." She shoved her daggers into their holsters quickly, and then grabbed him by the collar and dragged him up. "W..where are we going? What are you doing?! I'm in the middle of something!" "Shut up!" She hissed at him. "Do you have a back door in this place?" Matthias felt numb, but he must have shook his head, because before he knew it, she was dragging him away from the kitchen, and into the back area of his workshop. "Why are we going back here if there's no back do-" "I can't drag you out there in the daylight, people will ask questions. We will make preparations for our quest back here and once the sun sets we'll head out... It's too damn dark back here!" The girl ripped her hood back from her face, and once again stumbled through the unfamiliar surroundings to find the windows. "Umm.. There are no windows back here. Just candles. You see I?ve been working on this thing called electricity and?" "That's just BRILLIANT. Hang on then..." The girl kept her hand on his collar and felt around with her free hand on a counter next to them for a candle. When she finally found one, she did the best she could in the dark to prop it upright, and then held her hand over the wick. Matthias heard nothing now, except his ragged breathing and her calm and even breaths. ?Excuse me? What are you doing now?? He asked quietly. ?Shut up, I need to concentrate!? she barked at him. Matthias hesitantly shut his mouth and stood silently. The girl reached into her own mind to draw out the mark for fire. She spoke a strange word and a spark appeared? but not from her hand to the candle wick. She opened one eye, and seeing that the candle was not lit, she cursed. ?But then? why do I smell smoke?? Matthias? eyes bulged out of his head. ?Your cape!? he shouted ?Your cape is on fire!!!? ?Oh shit!!!? The girl let go of his collar ?Shit shit shit! Why does this always happen??? ?Stop drop and roll!? He called out to her, frozen in his position on the wall. ?Shut the hell up!? She screamed at him, but she did what he told her to anyway, and soon the fire was out. She didn?t bother standing up. She sat silently on the floor, going through the steps she had used, wondering what she?d done wrong this time. Matthias looked at the formless lump on the floor, but instead of running, he walked over to the table, pulled a pack of matches from his pocket, and lit the wick of the candle. The girl stood up suddenly, as if she had just remembered where she was and what she was doing. Matthias examined her, and was surprised to see she was a young woman, no more than twenty, and certainly didn?t look like the bounty hunter type. Her dark hair was bound back by a ribbon, from which many wisps escaped and framed her face. She gave him a steely glare, and rested a hand on one of her daggers. [ack, I know it's not very long. sorry!]
