Dude, you could not have picked a better one if you had tried. I'm on spring break and bored as ever. Last week, I was incredibly busy with papers and junk. Of the two, the papers were more fun. Cuz between papers, I could screw around with my friends who are currently in Missouri and Canada. How about this? Killed by an Alien? OR Killed by a Predator?
Uh.. defs the predator. I found they were the less scary of the two. Would you rather live in a world without technology? or would you rather live in a world with evil ape overlords? I like how the two don't relate at all *laughs*

Soo many! I love music that I can listen to over and over... Gold Lion by Yeah Yeah Yeahs - This song is just so catchy! Every time it's on the radio, I turn the dial alll the way to the right XP Aruarian Dance by Nujabes - I first heard in on Samurai Champloo, and I've been listening to it on my ipod every day since. I can't explain it, either. It's just a very mellow, pretty song. Arial vs. Lotus by Limblifter - catchy, happy. I finally managed to download it today =D Passion by Utada Hikaru - The Japanese version is the best. I love Utada's voice and how the pace in the song changes but still fits so well into the scheme of it. Duvet by BoA - I've been obsessed with this song for 3 years. I think it's because it's really pretty, and BoA's voice range is like mine, so it's easily singable. Save Your Scissors by City and Colour - I am in love with Dallas Green. What else can I say? Coalmine by Armchair Cynics - I love the instrumentals and lyrics of this song. Build God, Then We'll Talk by Panic! At The Disco - my favourite part is near the end where they sort of redo the song "Favourite Things" from A Sound Of Music Paralyzed by Rock Kills Kid - I first heard of them through the OC, so I downloaded all I could find and I found this song! I absolutely adore the guitar. That's my list for now =D

I don't have very many.. People do shorten my name to Lexa because they're lazy though and can't put the A in front.. Twinster/Twinface - by my online 'twin' and by my 'real' twin Jon *laughs* Ochibi-chan - by SomeGuy from myO because it means little one, and I'll always be a little one to him XD
Well, I actually like going car shopping. The first one. I'd rather be an idiot because of alcohol, not because of nature. Would you want to get a full body deep tissue massage with the whole works? I don't even know the answer to this one XD
i know it's kind of random, but i just always thought that for some anime characters, they could choose a better voice. llike for example, Naruto's voice, it's just kind of girly almost. And the pharoah from yu-gi-oh, his voice is WAY to old!!!! Also, i resently saw Fullmetal Alchamist, and Al's voice is so....childish, i know he's suppose to be young and all, but ........ (i don't mean to offend anyone, so if i do, please forgive me :animecry: ) well, i was just wandering if anyone agreed with me....
Well it depends, I think. Were you watching it subbed or dubbed? I found that in FMA, the original Japanese voices were perfect, but I didn't think the English VA's suited the characters at all.
Hmm...I feel so uncool now. Everyone else has already done drugs...
I have never done drugs. I refuse to, I find the idea absolutely appalling.
That being said, I'm definitely going to try pot. Not necessarily crack or anything like that, but I want to know what it feels like. In short, I'm here to experience life and I think that's gonna be one of the most interesting experiences out there.
Pot might not be life threatening, but as it's been stated many times, it stunts your brain's growth. If you think that this is a worthwhile experience that will make your life complete... I guess you should go for it? It actually makes me angry that people think that doing drugs is a good life experience. In my opinion, it's not even a real experience. Why not doing something real, like bungee jumping? Atleast you're experiencing the feeling because it's real, it's adrenaline. Not because your brain is confused by chemicals. (Sorry if it seems like I'm picking on you, but I didn't read all the arguments beforehand, and what you said just sort of sparked me to make a reply.)
Well maybe it's just a difference in taste, because, for me, I can tell... I can feel it, I can live it, it's just an inexplicable difference. When I listen to new music, I'm to busy trying to figure out why somone would write a song about cutting their wrists and their old boyfriends/girlfriends or some other depressing whathave you, or what a 'gangsta' is (What happened to the Italian accents!). In any case, I'm not the only one who can tell this difference. I mean, in twenty years, who's going to remember 'The Killers' or 'My Chemical Romance' or 'Britney Spears'? Probably no one; but the names of the Beatles, the Stones, the rest of them, will always remain. That's the difference - new music is just a flash-in-the-pan, cash-in-on-the-latest-craze cash-grab (for the most part, there are exceptions to every rule).
I'm sure it's a difference in taste, because when I hear a song by, for example, Metric, I feel exactly what the song is trying to convey. It makes me want to sing and move. But if I hear old music, in most cases it all sort of runs together. I know that you'll totally disagree with me, but I find that alot of it sounds the same to me. I'd have to agree. People will always remember bands like The Beatles, or Led Zeppelin, etc. for their music. Unfortunately new "artists" like Britney Spears may be remembered, but certainly not for their "music." I do hope that by some miracle, bands that put out consistently good music that isn't just about relationships or cutting yourself will find a place in music history, alongside the bands aforementioned. One of the problems with music of today is the fact that every band that comes out finds it necessary to come up with a new genre for themselves. It drives me nuts. Back then there were only a few choices. You had your rock 'n' roll, your country, etc. and people didn't have alot to do back then, so what did they do? They listened to music. It's just what they did. I think that's why those artists will never be forgotten. They were loved by an entire generation of kids who practically had nothing else to do except listen to music. I have alot of friends who can name probably like 5 bands. I find that sad. Personally, I think music should be a huge part of everyone's lives.
It's all about the soul, man. This new crap, man, it just don't got that soul. Rock n' Roll, real Rock n' Roll, is more than music; more than beats and rythms and riffs and notes, it's a way of life. A living, breathing, evolving entity. That's why I listen to music. Music that people poured their soul and spirit and identity into; songs that grab hold of you a shake you until you scream for more. Guy's like Bowie, Peart, Plante, Lennon, McCartny, Hendrix, Clapton, real-live music in it's most pure incarnation.
I disagree. Just because it has been widely believed that all artists put everything they had into their music back then, it definitely doesn't make it true (I bet some people just picked up some rocks to throw). I just don't think it's anything you can measure. I do believe that just like now, some musicians were likely in it for the fame and the money. I think music from now can speak to you just as much as music that came from then. In fact, the music you mentioned does nothing for me and it really doesn't speak to me at all. Artists from now can put just as much of themselves into their music as artists from back then did. (Sorry if this is a totally ****** response, but I'm having a really really bad day.)

Music What genre of music do you listen to?
OMNOMNOMALY replied to sweetpeach14's topic in Noosphere
My number one favourite is "alternative" or "emo" sort of modern rock. Close second would be techno. Alternative is my favourite because I've always been a fan of modern rock, and usually after I like the actual music, I'll end up loving the lyrics. I guess angsty teen lyrics speak to my angsty teen self =P Edit: Oops, sorry Petester. -
My friend and I have very different music tastes. He loves classic rock, while I love new, and alternative sort of underground rock. He seems to choose his music based more on lyrical content, while I go for what sounds good to me. I was just curious, what do you guys on the OB listen to music for? Is there a reason that you think draws you to the sort of music you listen to? For me, it's always been what something sounds like, first and foremost. If something's catchy, I'm usually hooked. Lyrics are important, but definitely not as important, in my opinion. I always know whether or not I'll like a song within the first few bars. I love bands like The Shins and Metric, who sound awesome and have some of the most nonsensical lyrics I've ever heard. Maybe that's the other reason why I like them so much *laughs* I do tend to like the bands with the original and sometimes really abstract types of lyrics, and I find most of these bands in the alternative genre. My boyfriend usually doesn't decide on whether or not he likes a song until he's heard most, or all of it. He likes a song with good, solid lyrics, and it's even better if they're political and really advocating something. Of course he needs to like how it sounds, but this comes second to him. (keep in mind this is just my generalization to get the thread started. He does like a bit of my music, and he even went to Metric with me XD) That's why he likes his classic rock so much. Alot of it is about acceptance, love and peace. Really sort of meaningful lyrics. So what about you guys? Do you decide on something because of the instrumentation, or are you the lyrics type? What do you figure draws you to your sort of favourite genre? Do you even have a favourite genre? Discuss! (I hope this isn't too similar to the favourite music thread I saw a few pages in. If so, I apologize. >_>)

I've been a big fan of the internet since I was about 11, I think. So only about 4 years ago. My friend introduced it to me, first by showing me ICQ and then MSN. I loved the idea of MSN so I signed up when I got home and started on just chatting then. Following MSN, around the same time, the same friend got me hooked on neopets. I went into some MSN chats, and I played an internet game shown to me by another friend called Wormhole. That's about all I used it for at the time. As I got older, I tried RPing in MSN chats for about a year when I was 13-14. They closed the free ones though, so I basically stopped. I've been using MSN ever since I signed up, and as I got out of rping, I got into the idea of communities. I joined myO, and OB, though I only used the myO account until recently. The idea of forums sort of intimidated me, but I finally checked out the OB and y'know.. I really love it here ^__^ Now I mostly use it for 2 communities I'm a member of, my email, MSN, and school.
How do OB'ers feel about this? Personally, I'm not very happy. I never agreed with the conservative party's ideas. A lot of people are saying, though, that because it's a minority government, another election is on the horizon.
According to a friend, they can only stay in office for about 2 years as a minority government. I hope that's it! *crosses fingers*
And the other parties aren't? There was an ad that the Liberals put out a while ago that basically said "Stephen Harper has a dog. You know who else had a dog? Adolf Hitler. Vote Liberal." Personally, I believe very much in Conservative policies. But I do agree that people should not vote Green just because they don't like any of the other parties. If everyone did that, Green Party would be elected (as if).
Sorry, I didn't specify. I meant that all the parties are turning away from the issues and focusing on personally attacking eachother. They're definitely not going to be elected based on their platforms, at the rate they're going. It's going to be all about who comes out looking the best after all is said and done. As much as I agree with the Green Party, and as much as I'd love to see us clean up our environment, I just don't think the Green Party would do so well in running the whole country. Though I would prefer them over the Conservatives...
-
I also don't like the people who vote for somone because they hate somone else, no matter if they agree or not with their policies. It seems stupid and petty. Funny how politics go. Those 'Stand up for Canada' ads may well be the worst campaign ads I've ever seen... especially the one where he's talking to a woman and than somone asks him a question... even when it's rehearsed Harper can't dish out and charisma or intellegence.
My parents are doing the whole vote for someone else because they hate the Liberals and Conservatives thing.. My Dad is voting for the Green Party >_> The Stand up for Canada ads are pretty bad, but I think what's worse is the envelopes that Laurie Hawn the Conservative representative for my city sent out that had written on them "If this was from the Liberals, it would be filled with cash." They can't stick to the topics. They're trying to win by making the other parties look as bad as they can, and we're getting to the point where it seems like they're not even using facts, but they're taking stuff out of context and starting rumours. Lame.
