1. Such gorgeous competition. D: What's your favorite hobby? I'd probably have to say creative writing. I'm working on a novel at the moment, slowly but surely, and it's such a wonderful way for me to escape and just get lost in an entirely different world. I'm not aiming to get published, just to see if I can do it. I think writing keeps me pretty calm and happy seeing as it allows me to just forget about everything that bothers me. What do you think your best personality trait would be? Probably my confidence, I think. I'm not afraid to say something honestly, not because it will hurt their feelings but because they need to hear it. People seem to appreciate that more, especially if they want advice about something they're going through. I also love meeting new people and teachers always appreciate someone who they can talk to outside of a lesson. EDIT: I realise Shinmaru said writing, too, but it honestly is my favourite hobby. Sorry for not being more unique.
  2. I hear Bleach fillers are set to end pretty soon, too? I've been looking forward to that since I heard about it. Death Note is naturally something to look forward to, and hopefully the UK will get the anime you mentioned on release. Also, I read in New Type about the possible production of a Devil May Cry anime? I don't know when it scheduled for release, but I'd be interested to know more about that if anyone has information. That would be really special if they do it properly. EDIT: By the way Ikillion, your signature is love. I adore D.Gray-man.
  3. Ah! Thank you both so much~! I'm going to use both sets for a couple of weeks.
  4.
Ah well, might as well join the fun anyway. Name: Ken.
Marry me, Ken.
  5. What: Delta [Member] Why: If you've seen just one of Delta's banners you know where I'm coming from. She's very talented and comes across as a really nice person who's always willing to help out. She also given me links to a couple of sites with hot Bleach fanart, but I'm sure didn't need to know that. The 'Boards are so much brighter and creative thanks to her and her talent, and that makes her exceptionally nifty. What: Raiyuu [Member] Why: He's one of those guys you just can't help but like. Again, a very helpful and approachable person who does his job with infinite patience and grace. I think he's a fantastic mod and very dedicated while still managing to be friendly. He definately deserves more recognition as a member. What: The Mob/Pack Why: Ozy summed it up pretty well, but I'd just like to show my support. My fellow Arena mods are great to work with and do their jobs really well and frighteningly fast. I find myself wishing for someone to step out of line these days. Props to you, Ozy, Blayze and Sandy~ What: Kurayami Oji [Member] Why: To be honest, I haven't really talked a lot with this guy but I get a good feeling about him. Whenever we have communicated he's been very friendly and I think he's definately a promising, upcoming member of the 'Boards. He's also a Death Note fan, which is never a bad thing. What: The Arena Why: Where else can you find such a varied (and often times amusing) selection of people? I mean, really, you see a lot coming through there--from the legions of dreaded number-members to the crazy imaginative and entertaining. I can't go long without visiting the Square or Inn, in fact it's probably the only thing that's kept me coming back for the last (nearly) three years.
  6. I know I haven't posted at all recently, which is because I found myself without internet over Christmas and am now struggling to keep up. If I could jump in again with the start of this new chapter that would be good, and I could do a sort of recap in that post. Would that be okay? Sorry I've seem disinterested, as I'm not. Just failing to understand. DX
  7. Hallo there, all. I've been too busy/uninspired to make a decent flashy banner for myself lately, so I call out to you all for something new and exciting. My current obsession is Mello, from the manga Death Note. It's hard to find decent, workable pictures of him but I have a good one (attachment, yes yes). Fell free to use something else you find, though. My searching skills probably aren't up to par. The only specs I have is that the quote "I'll live my own way." appears somewhere on the banner, and that the background is either dark and gothic or bright and orange/yellow. It all depends on your mood. If my nickname 'Zeke' could be on the avi that would be nice, too. Thanks in advance, you talented people.
  8. 1) What day is your birthday? 4th of January (Give me E-HUGS >=O) 2) What is your zodiac sign? Capricorn 3) How does your zodiac sign describe your personality? Good.
"Practical and prudent Ambitious and disciplined Patient and careful Humorous and reserved"
Bad
"Pessimistic and fatalistic Miserly and grudging"
4) Does the description of your zodiac actually describe you? Why? God yes, it's quite frightening actually. I love astrology and although I don't plan my year/week/day around my horroscope, it's interesting to see how it matches up with certain things that have happened or that I have planned. The ambitious, careful and reserved parts are especially true, as well as all the bad ones, haha. Capricorns I know are also described as neat and organised as well as careful, which is also true. They're loyal too, I believe, and once they marry it's for life. That's very true to me as well, as all the relationships I've had have lasted months rather than just weeks. (Trevor and I will have been together for two years this Feb.) 5) How does your zodiac sign PWN over the rest?
Originally posted by Wikipedia "Hierarchies and Zodiacal signs According to the Rosicrucians, each astrological sign in the zodiac represents one of the "Twelve Great Creative Hierarchies" that had, or have, a relation to mankind's evolutionary process. 9.
Before I launch into my reply, here's a little something just for fun. I never meant to suggest that L doesn't have fangirls now; in the live-action movies, his role was so popular that he's getting his own spin-off film. ~Dagger~
My brain just imploded. After watching the first DN movie and falling in love with L's character for the trillionth time, this makes me very happy. Also, that picture is terrifying. Just thought I'd add my two cents in, as an L fangirl. I adore him not because of the way he looks but because of his personality, intelligence and actions. I think the creators were probably keeping that in mind when they designed him. I mean, just look at Rock Lee from Naruto--he has some of the craziest fangirls I've ever come across. He's by far my favourite boy from the series. I love Light as well, even though he just keeps on giving me reasons to dislike him. I think it's good that Takeshi Obata didn't give him stereotypical bishounen features from anime (long hair, pretty eyes, slim hands etc) but gave him looks that you would expect a real, attractive guy would have.
I'm also glad about them bringing Mello in, because really...his outfits and chocolate-licking action make me swoon every time. >_> There's a character designed for the fangirls if I ever saw one.

  10. 31 minutes ago was my New Year. (I was watching the fireworks too, Vicky! Those people must be completely blind.) 2006 was a mixed year for me--I turned sixteen, which was good, and I done well in my high school final exams. Started college in September and have been...well, doing well would be a little too far, I think, but I'm enjoying myself. I've vowed to start working harder on my grades in college now, so hopefully 2007 will bring rewards. I'm also going to start learning how to drive. Ph34r, innocent English drivers. =p
  11. The man on the train, Beth found out that his name was Matt, had quickly produced his Death Note after Beth had shown hers. He sat next to her, trying to look nonchalant while keeping a close eye on everyone. The train wasn't crowded, so he didn't seem worried about bringing the black book out into the open, and Beth imagined her blasé attitude had helped. Esdras had told her that touching another person's Death Note would allow her to see the other Shinigami. She grabbed Matt's hand by the wrist and placed it on the note in her lap, while reaching out to run her fingers over his. Immediately she met with the sight of a magnificent Shinigami, his impressive wings folded behind him while his bright eyes stared straight into hers. It was a little unnerving seeing those plainly inhuman eyes, and Beth realised that seeing the empty sockets of Esdras hadn't prepared her for this. Unsurprisingly, Matt didn?t look too surprised at Esdras' appearance, as anyone who'd watched an episode of CSI knew what a skeleton looked like. Beth had accompanied Matt until he got off at his stop, and despite them not talking very much they had agreed on going to the Old Maxwell Theatre together on New Year's Eve. Now it was December 31st, and Beth had already convinced her parents that she would be on a school trip for a couple of days. They had got to a point now where Beth's intelligence had overcome them, and the young girl found it far too easy to manipulate them. She lay on her bed, staring up at the ceiling with her bobbed hair fanned out behind her head. She had already packed her school bag full of snacks and an extra pair of clothes, having a sneaking suspicion that this meeting wouldn't be a one-night thing. She was more than ready to leave home if it was required. "Esdras," she muttered, turning her head to face the Shinigami. He inclined his head and drifted over to her, munching on a bar of chocolate. "You mentioned something about Shinigami eyes a couple of days ago. Remind me about them again." The Shinigami floated above the bed and lowered his head to come face-to-face with Beth, who didn't even flinched. He seemed to grin more than usual, and his sockets filled with a swirling grey and gold glow that the young girl found mesmerising. "These eyes will let you see the name and life-spans of anyone you come across, even if it's a photo. If you can see their face you will have everything you need to know about them." "And the price?" Beth asked, her voice sounding distant to her as she raised herself on her elbows. Esdras chuckled darkly and drew himself up to his full height, dropping the chocolate wrapper on the floor. "Why, I only ask for half of your remaining life-span." Beth seemed to consider for a while. She smiled a little as she looked up at her Shinigami companion, cocking her head to one side and shrugging. "I don't like the idea of being an old lady anyway. Give me those eyes." Esdras nodded and stared into Beth's black orbs again, tapping her Death Note softly. "As you wish." OOC: I wanted to keep this moving, so I hope BK doesn't mind. I couldn't bear waiting anymore. I also hope it's okay for Beth to have the eyes now. If not I'll change it.
  12.
As for L, I see him as a mouse of a boy lost in grown-ups world - out-of-place and helpless. I don't hate him, he's quite intriguing as a character, but something in him just radiates the "fangirl-service cute bishi poser" -aura. :P
D: You have made a fangirl sad today, sir. I love L because he's so mysterious and never lets people really know what's going on. Light is shown less subtly and we have an exact idea of what he wants and how he plans to get it, but L seems for more complex. Also, I loved it in episode 11
where L shows a small amount of emotion by gripping his jeans really tight. That was somehow really sad, for me.
I really like Light as well, though, but Misa just gets on my nerves. I haven't seen her in the series properly yet, but from the manga I couldn't stand her from the word go. Perhaps they've changed her a little in the series.
  13.
If you want to know how many episodes are definitely being made, you can ignore all that blather. Thirty-seven's your number.

B-But, that means there won't be any Mello! AARG! :animecry:
I've been very bad with watching the series and only got around to downloading ep 11 yesterday, and I still haven't watched all of it. I've been reading the manga a lot and figured it would be boring to watch the old stuff I already knew. But, oh god, no, I'd forgotten how incredibly amazing the series was. I haven't been able to find ep 12 anywhere, where have people been getting it from? D:
  14. Beth had seen a man on the street, his head constantly turning to the blank space next to him. He seemed to be talking to himself, but a few soft words from Esdras informed her that this man was talking to another Shinigami. Another Death Note, in New York City... She jogged after him, trying to catch up as he descended to the subway. She flashed a student card to the guard to let her through without paying and barely managed to jump onto the train as the doors were closing. She thought for a moment she had lost Esdras, but he reappeared next to her as though nothing had happened. The carriage was surprisingly empty, though she guessed it was due to the Christmas time rush being over, and she managed to find a seat opposite the dark haired man. Beth guessed him to be Italian, and by the looks of the gold around his neck she wouldn't have been surprised if he was part of the mafia. But that didn't matter, if they both had one of the books. It mattered even less if he didn't have one. She looked up as Esdras who, as always, was grinning his deathly serious grin, but now he wasn't looking at her. He was looking directly at someone, or something, and Beth could only assume it was the other Shinigami. She looked back at the man opposite her and saw him look up, a little confused, at the spirit next to him. Slowly, he turned around and his eyes met with Beth's. She smiled knowingly and dug in her backpack, boots tapping against the floor to a nonexistent tune. The man's eyes went wide as Beth produced her Death Note, but she wanted to wait for him to make the next move. He obviously knew what it was, but Beth wanted to know if he had enough guts to show his own. Of course, it wouldn't matter if he didn't. Beth would just go on alone and she was confident that she had more brains than the majority of this carriage put together. She smiled a deceptively innocent smile and shrugged, "Well?" OOC The student ID card thing probably isn't true, but I guess we can take some liberties with the system here. EDIT: I just noticed that three of the four Arena mods are represented by DN characters. We all match~

  16. She sat, her narrow eyes burning from her lack of sleep and stress, almost trying to peer beneath the layers of writing for some hidden meaning. Beth was cross-legged on her bed, the Death Note resting between her knees. The skeleton lurking in the corner was unnerving, but so far he hadn't spoken to her so she supposed that was okay. She didn't much feel like talking to a bunch of bones either. She'd had the urge to use the book plenty of times, knowing from the few scraps of information she'd pulled together that something similar had been related to the Kira case. L had been her idol from the first time she'd head of him, and while one part of her yearned to gain recognition, for people to bow down to her and call her Kira...another part of her brilliant mind wanted to be the hero. Just once. She scratched her hair with one end of her pen, hands shaking as they neared the deathly white pages of the book. She heard a soft laugh come from the skeleton but didn't look around, scrunching up her face in slight annoyance. After a while the notebook was pushed under her matress again and Beth rolled into bed, her back turned to the open sockets that seemed to watch over her constantly. **** The next morning was fresh despite the ever-present smell of petrol in the New York air. Beth walked leisurely toward 5th Avenue, intent on looking at the window displays in Saks. The giant behind her still lurked and loomed, the Death Note tucked into her backpack for reasons even the young genius couldn't entirely understand. As she was peering through the glass, nose pressed almost to the window, a chilly voice like graveyard wind met her ears. She turned, shocked, to see the grinning skeletal face leaning down to her level. "My name is Esdras. It's about we get to know each other." And it began. First with criminals that no one would miss...but soon, all too soon, Beth knew she'd begin to exact her revenge. And the Old Maxwell Theatre was only a few blocks away. OOC: Saks is on 5th, right? I'm pretty sure it is.
  17. Name: Beth Watanabe (American mother, Japanese father) Age: 12 Gender: Female Origins: New York, USA Appearance: Beth would be described as small in comparison to others of her age, but this is made all the more noticeable by the fact that she is usually seen around sixteen year olds. She has pallid skin, which contrasts with a mop of jet-black hair, which rests just on her shoulders. Her eyes are dark black and calculating, always seeming to flicker from people?s faces to objects. She would be described as ?angelic?, her gentle oriental features mixed with those of the west giving her a very soft and doll-like look. She never seems to smile and if she does, it never spreads to her eyes. Her expressions always seem to be those of thoughtfulness or judgment. Personality: Beth is reserved and barely speaks in school, having been cut off from people of her own age when she was young. Her parents, though caring, were obsessed with sheltering and almost cultivating her mind once they discovered the enormity of his IQ. At first she was reluctant to do well in school and would purposefully fail tests, but soon she realised that her life would be the same no matter what she did. She was moved forward in school, which was when the bullying began, and she almost formed a split personality. While in school she is serious, quiet and calculating, at home she is bright and happy around her parents. She makes up stories to ensure them that school is going fantastically and tells them of all the friends she is making. Sometimes she thinks she hates herself for living her life this way, but the proud smiles of her mother and father assure her that it?s worth it. How acquired the Death Note: Beth is bullied badly in school and was locked in a dusty old cupboard in the library one afternoon. As she rooted through the old magazines and newspapers she came across a curious black notebook? Other Information: -She tries not to think about it, but Beth wishes more than anything to get back at the people who have, and are, making her life a living hell. -Despite intense research, Beth can?t find any conclusive information on the Kira case. She?s only heard brief mention of it but badly wants to find out more. -Beth has a habit of creating her own personal world where things go her way. She dreams of being stronger and of being able to stand up for herself, but just can?t find the courage. Name and Title of the Shinigami: Esdras, The Skeletal Defender Appearance of the Shinigami: When first seeing Esdras, one would immediately relate him to the traditional Grim Reaper. He stands at almost 9 foot tall, his face gaunt and bulging eyes shining with a dull blue light. His fingers, though skeletal, are hooked and sharp like claws and the same goes for his feet. The only ?clothing? he appears to have is a ripped and dirty black cloak that appears to move of it?s own accord, almost like oil. It swirls and spikes out depending on Esdras? mood, which, despite his appearance, is usually quite cheery. Huzzah.

    MySpace
It has a detrimental effect on the internet and its relationship with society.
But...only if you actually go to the site and it's profiles, right? So then there's no harm! =p I didn't want to get a MySpace for a while, but it's easier to leave messages to friends about concerts or parties this way if we can't get hold of each other. I don't visit too often, but it can be fun. No harm in it unless you're the type to post half-naked pictures of yourself.
  19. Well, I would do this for you but the picture just isn't loading for me. Perhaps you could attach it to your post instead? I wouldn't want to go and use just any old picture of Light, you see. If you just want to wait for KW's, that's fine, too.
  20. I'm pretty sure it was Digimon that inspired me to draw. The reason I actually wanted to draw anime is because I had visualised my own Digimon characer and wanted to see her on paper. Of course, I was completely rubbish but I've come on a bit since them. I do realism sometimes and get a certain amount of satisfaction from it, and I adore drawing flowers and nature, but I think anime will always be my preferred style. It's the way anime can have any style hair, clothes or, well...anything, that makes it so interesting. I used to want to be an illustrator, but I don't think I ever could be. Art is for my own expression, and I couldn't end up drawing for a comission if it meant conveying another person's emotions in the picture. That's just me, though. (And Tiana, you just made me realise I need a Christmas banner)
  21. Beth looked down at Moses, his head turned away as if he was avoiding her gaze. She smiled softly as she recognised his young features, resting a gloved hand on his shoulder lightly. "Don't worry about it." another smile, "I was in the jail, you're right. I saw you there, too." Beth waited for Moses to tilt his head up again, his mouth twitched up at the corner in a nervous smile. He offered one hand and Beth took it, her hand shake surprisingly firm for one usually so gentle. "My name is Moses." "I'm Beth. It's nice to meet you, Moses." The pair were quiet for a few seconds, though it seemed as if they still had something to talk about. Suddenly, Moses broke the silence with a statement, taking Beth a little off-guard. "I think we should go to Harlem Academy. The others are." Beth blinked and rested her shopping bags on the floor, flicking a glove up to see her watch and realising she had most certainly missed her bus. "You mean that place mentioned on a leaflet, don't you?" Moses nodded in reply and Beth considered the offer, finally shrugging and guiding Moses toward a taxi rank, leaving her shopping behind. The boy looked back but didn't question her, knowing she probably felt the need to get to the Academy as badly as he did. "If we see any trouble, though, we're leaving. I couldn't live with myself if you got hurt when you were with me." She smiled again and rested her hand on Moses' head before she climbed into the taxi, watching as Moses paused slightly before getting in with her. She gave the driver instructions and sat in silence, hoping they wouldn't take too long to arrive.
  22. Along with what everyone else here is said, I'll give you something to think about: If you tell her and she says yes, that's fantastic. If she says no, but is flattered, you could still be in with a chance further down the line. Try and befriend her and get to know her better. If she says no, throws it back in your face and laughs, it obviously isn't worth it and you should just move on, lest you become her little lost puppy.
  23. Name: Pilo Species: Badger Colouring: Your average badger, i.e. black and white. Disposition: Kind and mothering, which is odd, as he is male. Pilo is loyal and will help anyone who needs him without question. Anything else: Pilo never was strong physically, so was the runt of his litter. Thus, he was shunned, but takes in anyone who is sad or lonely in the hopes the same fate won't befall any other forest creatures.
  24. Scott was growing more and more apprehensive as he descended the staircase. Despite the fact he could see where he was going, after experiencing other things in this maze he couldn't help but feel paranoid. That foreboding feeling that something, anything, was about to happen to him. The hive-type structure wasn't helping, either, and the oozing liquid made dull thudding sounds as it hit the ground. Scott didn't notice as the substance seemed to solidify once it had hit solid ground, instead keeping his intent gaze on the steps in front of him. He eventually reached the bottom and leant against a wall, catching his breath and running a finger under his collar. The air was stifling and he could feel a slick sweat covering his neck. It was then he noticed the wax, or whatever it was, forming into something. The greenish, almost statue like being was growing taller and taking shape. He squinted as the face started to developed features, and realised with slight embarrassment that the creature was in the shape of a naked woman. He stepped forward, unable to stop himself from taking a closer look, before he recoiled in horror. The face that had taken shape was now looking at him directly, and the pale eyes he couldn't look away from were those of his wife. The mouth, still tinted green, twisted into a mocking smile, and in a matter of seconds the room was enveloped in a dark that was almost palpable. "Wh-What...? I don't--" "Understand? You never did, Scott..." the woman's voice seemed far away and yet so loud at the same time. Her mouth moved as if it was out of sync, and her movements seemed slow and deliberate as she started making her way toward the stricken man. Try as he might, Scott just couldn't pull himself away, and instead stumbled pitifully to the floor. Then his wife, no, this monster was on him, her unreal legs pinning him down while small hands traced patterns on his chest. Scott was more frightened than he had ever been before and whimpered as the waxy fingers ran over his lips. The creature smirked again, her horribly beautiful mouth opening slightly as she spoke again. "I want you to remember your nightmares. I want you to feel pain. Pain like I felt when you wouldn't trust me!" The dark was all encompassing and Scott couldn't even see the monster any more, only vaguely feeling its pressure against his abdomen. He felt blind and was sure he'd be sick, until the flashing of images took away all other thought. All of a sudden he saw a creature, hideous and bleeding, seeming to pulsate within as it's fetid skin crawled and bloated. It dragged itself toward him, mouth like a bloody gash across what Scott could only assume to be a head. Its hand stretched out, grabbing and scratching and leaving bloody trail marks across the solid dark beneath its body. Scott screamed inside but couldn't open his mouth, all logical thought pushed away as one of the bloody claws grasped his ankle. He bit his tongue and tasted harsh blood, feeling his bladder give way at the same time. The only sound that met his ears was the cruel laugh of the creature in his wife's form, and the gasping, wheezing noise of the creature before him. It was moving up his body, over his knees now and--oh, ****--the smell was disgusting. The stench of rotting flesh and urine burned Scott's nostrils, and now the mouth was by his face, those hands gripping onto his cheeks and digging in with inhuman power. He felt his skin rip and his eyes bulge, biting right through his tongue as his teeth grit together. Pain. Blood. Darkness. The mouth opened wide and Scott's last sight was that of his wife's face. Hope that makes up for me not posting, Sandy. x_x
  25. Beth had seen Charles walking back towards her house that night, before he seemed to have slept on her doorstep. She considered walking down to meet him or invite him in, but supposed he was too proud or stubborn for that. Besides, even though she liked him, she didn't completely trust him. She didn?t trust many people these days. She was walking down a high street, happy shoppers laughing and smiling as they wound their way around each other. Beth checked her watch as she hurried with both hands full of shopping, surprised by how many people were out at the time. She would probably end up missing her bus, only adding to the stress already mounting up on her. She had stayed up most of the night trying to figure out the connection everyone had between them. She had already come to the conclusion that all the people she was in jail with had powers like she did; though apart from Charles it was any guess as to what they were. She hadn't come up with many things, but something that she kept coming back to was the Zodiac. It was confusing and gave her a headache just to think about it, but Beth knew she'd have to find out more. If she ever caught that damn bus. Just when she had caught sight of the yellow shelter, a shadow crossed her path and she was sent stumbling backwards as someone hit her shoulder. She groaned and clutched at her bags tighter, looking up into a somehow familiar face.
