2. garmeil, welcome. Please read our sticky so you understand how we RP at the OtakuBoards. While you have a rating and good grammar (I'm very encouraged by this, thank you) your introduction is too short. We knew that this area is for role play games, so stating that this thread is a role play is highly redundant. If you could provide your potential players with more information on back story/the role they'll be taking in more detail that would be much better. Take a look at some successful recruitment threads to see what I mean. Thank you for clearly taking note of most of our ground rules, you just need to tighten this up a little. Feel free to repost when you've given more detail, Zeke.
3. WIN WIN WIN WIN That was awesome. I sung it aloud and ended up lol'ing at many parts. Well done, White, if that doesn't win Rach will have thought up something pretty immense. (I vote Fatman Scoop to sing it for us >>)
4.
I don't mind at all. thanks for fixing that up for me. So I guess my trick of dubling the canvas size and placing the two images side by side isn't going to work? I need to eyedrop sample them somehow because my laptop screen doesn't always accurately reflect true colours. (it's dependent on light in the room, plus the angle the screen is opened to affects brightness and contrast significantly.) Any tips or tricks to ensure I get it right next time? >>). Though with Paint Shop I've no clue how to adjust compression settings, which is my problem. I notice my entry didn't match up exactly either, which is bugging the hell out of me each time I look at it.
5. I am in firm belief that a Giga Slave to the nether regions will take down any man, even Des. Shabranigdo could not stand up to such dark-arts, and Des is no Shabranigdo! The fact the world might implode is irrelevant at this time.
6. It's so good to see some decent, well-thought-out DBZ fiction here. I'm really enjoying how you've written everyone, and you've put the time skips in at goods points. Vicky is just adorable, in a frightening way D: And if this latest addition is Will, he's going to make the side proud. You know nerdy guys with superhuman powers are the best kinds of characters~ I eagerly await the next addition, Mother.
7. "Okay, okay, I guess I see your logic. But I think something less intellectual should be used. Those terrorists may not understand exactly what the question means." Peacock nodded and took a large scoop of ice-cream, eating it delicately in a way that would make most women swoon. I leant back in my chair and crossed my legs at the ankles, letting the spoon balance on my nose as I thought. "How about something a little more subtle?" I tried to think of how to word my question, leaning forward on my elbows to eat some of the slowly melting delicious chocolate Peacock had brought to my attention.
You are faced with two roads; one leads to your death but glory for your cause, the other to a long, rich life where no one takes notice of you. Which road do you choose?
"So a terrorist would choose the first option, because glory and reaction to their opinions is what matters most?" "Exactly!" I replied, looking rather pleased with myself. Sure, it wasn't the most refined or fail-safe question, but it had the chance to work? "I'm not so sure, but at least we're brainstorming." "Over ice-cream." "Yes, the ice-cream is integral to our brainstorming, Gurt." I smiled at Peacock and turned our situation over and over in my head. There was a good, logical, fair way to end this conflict that would result in the terrorists being brought to their knees. I was sure of that much. After all, Peacock and I had fought off much in our battles in our old jobs, both at the front lines when it came to fighting idiots, people who couldn't understand simple rules, and disgusting, foul trolls intent on upsetting our wonderful, happy equilibrium. "We'll win this, Peacock, no matter what the cost."
8. Sorry, guys :( Really didn't want to lose our advantage, but it looks like we'll have to hit back hard. Good luck, White.
9. I had been feeling a little distant lately. The addition of Throne to the organisation was nice, though calling him that would take some getting used to. With all these new recruits I was starting to feel as though I may have been letting myself get out of the loop. Fighting terrorism wasn't something one should attempt to do alone, afterall. Throne had left to talk to others so I took myself to the kitchen, the smell of Mother's cooking still hanging in the air. Delicious. A smell I had come to think of as home. She truly was the best person to lead us to the front of this ivestigation. I waved to Grape Ape as he left with a glass of milk, rewarded with a warm smile in return. If he believed I was neglecting my duties, surely he would tell me? I wondered why no one else was around, but given the time and all the excitement from our latest battle against the terrorists, I gathered they would be resting or taking well earned breaks in the fresh air. With all this in mind I pulled a bottle from the fridge and sat down at our spotlessly clean, certainly very grand, dining table. Perhaps I'd wait for someone to come along. [[OOC Arg. Arg. It's so easy to fall behind in this thread x_o]]
10. Done and done~ =D I know I probably mesed up big style on appearances, but that doesn't matter, right? We're fighting giant mutant sunflowers, afterall, so I can be allowed some artistic leeway. ^_~ ILUALL.
11. EDIT: Done~ Full Shot Detail 1 Detail 2 So, here the story goes: There were these horrid mutant sunflowers that decended to earth, attempting to take over mankind. They destroyed cities, plunging us all into a terrible post-apocalyptic way of life. But! there was hope for us humans. An underground army, known only as the Aces, were training to fight these Sunflowers. This picture captures the moment when a valiant team of five rose up, fighting these leafy beasts with bombs, arrows and bazookas. It's a terrible world we live in. Cast- Archer--Shy Shooter (behind the rock >>)--KW Crazy Man in the White Coat--...White Bazooka Man--BKstyles Redhead--Zeke Regardless of the outcome of this Duel, I had so much fun making this.
12. I jumped at the sudden outcry from the intercom, no more than a few minutes away from the rest of the agents. So they were going to try and break him out, were they? I shouldn't be surprised, Haswiri was probably the only intelligent one out of their lot and he couldn't hold off all of us at once with words alone. I turned and slipped into a side corridor, jogging down some stairs to reach the prisons below. I felt my ears prickle slightly as though someone was talking about me. How rude. I frowned as I heard Mother's delighted laughter followed by a clearly audible splash from below. Wondering what poor sod had fallen into her disciplining hands I walked a little faster. She wasn't above pulling at my ears, even if I was on her side. As a turned the corner I walked into something small and insignificant. "Gah, who--?" Terrorist! From the files I had seen it was the one called Premonition. They were heading down the row of cells to try and find Engel's, clearly. Too bad for them they'd run into me first. I whipped out a weapon I'd had strapped to my belt, grinning as the end of it surged with electricity. "Want to try out some of this mod-rod, little terrorist?"
13. Curse these Jenova Witnesses. The muffled sound of voices came through the monitors, but there was no mistaking the phrase 'Church of One Winged Angel'. Hethens, the lot of them! I knew Grape Ape and Peacock would be more than capable of handling that one nuisance, and I wasn't keen on having another run-in with Al Haswiri after last time. I was about to make my way to the prisoner's cell to interrogate him further when an intercom nestled in the ceiling crackled to life. It was Ploppy, and we were needed. I growled into the mic pinned to my collar and brushed hair off my face, "Gurt is on the way, sir."
14. I'm finding it difficult to tell these amateurish terrorists apart from garden-variety spammers! Good thing they're clearly noticeable from their horrid coloured fonts and ghastly smell. Except for White, where did that coward go? He must be camouflaged! Also, their claims that we have a penchant for Teletubbies underwear suggests they have snuck in and rifled through our knicker drawers! Dirty Communists, the lot of them. --Gurt
15. DB is so obvious it makes me lol. He shouldn't be too hard to counter, so well done Ploppy. I vote Japan test runs anything dangerous looking until she comes up with a better codename. ;)
16. Ah, I see. It's always frustrating when that happens and you just can't bear to look at a screen anymore, haha. I use Corel Painter Essentials 2, which was a freebie I got with my Wacom Tablet. 'Tis an excellent program for CG but can't be used for anything else, sadly.
17. Sir, requesting permission to beat prisoner with stick, sir! [strike]Also requesting Mudkip 4 as my callsign, no one shall suspect such an innocent name![/strike] Unless we go for a theme, in which case I shall gladly edit. EDIT: Boo is part of this glorious troupe?! How could I not have noticed? Callsign changed to Gurt.
18. For the generator to use, go to www.seventhsanctum.com and click on General Person Generator, in the side bar. I don't know why the link won't work, sorry about that everyone. Due to the slight amounts of confusion from my lack of information providing skillz, I'm bumping the deadline forward to Wednesday. That'll give everyone more time to get their bearings, and maybe have others join in too. For now, here be mine: "This generous woman has droopy red eyes that are like two drops of wine. Her silky, wavy, yellow hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a lion's mane. She has an amazonian build. Her skin is white. She has a small nose. Her wardrobe is flattering." [link] Also, I encourage feedback between participants (and even others just looking in). Afterall, this thread is about improving our art, so tell people how they managed to work within the boundaries of their description etc. Darren, I'm really impressed with your CG for a self-professed PS novice. There are many artists I've seen who are far worse when they've been using the program for a long time. (Myself, I could never figure out how to even work it so I gave up). I absolutely adore her expression and the only thing I can honestly see 'wrong' (it's not really, maybe I'm just nit-picky) with your shading is that she doesn't have any highlights. Even then, the lack of highlight doesn't detract from the picture.
19. 1) What is your element of power? Empathy, something we all have but scarcely embrace. 2) Who taught you how to ride a bike? I can't, simple as. Despite my parents best efforts such an unstable, frail looking contraption could never keep my interest. 3) When do whales stop singing?
20.
Anyway, onto the discussion: 1) What grade are you going into after this year? Are you graduating? Or did you already graduate? If so, what year? 2) Are you, or were you, worried? What do you plan to do with your life or are you just as confused, (and in some cases, scared) about the future as I am? 3) Did everything work out in the end? Or was there some sort of hinderance that kept you from going or doing what you wanted to? 4) What sort of advice can you give to someone like me? (Someone in high school who is freaked out of his mind)
It's funny, you're feeling exactly as I am right now. 1) I'm in first year of college (UK college, not US. We're different here). I have two more exams next week to finish off the year. Then, on the 18th, I start second year work though technically I won't be referred to as a second year until September, when we come back from summer. After second year I'm off the Uni (US equivalent of college). 2) I know exactly what I want to do, to an extent where I've been able to budget my monthly allowances for living based on average pay for the job I'll be qualified for. Call it obsessive, but I enjoy planning so far ahead. I know the Uni I'm going to, and know I'll come out of college probably over-qualified for the course (I'm taking two more subjects than I need to). However, saying all that, I'm scared. Scared because I won't be living in this country anymore, won't have my friends or family right there for support. But more than fear, I think I'm excited. I like big changes. 3) Well, everything seems to be going well so far. But I've been slacking on revision for these last two exams, which probably doesn't bode well, but I can't find the energy to care just yet. 4) Not much, seeing as I'm feeling exactly the same. =p I guess the only thing I can say is what I've been thinking: If what I do makes me happy, then that's all that matters. Life will run its course. (It's all about ka)
21.
1. How are you feeling right now? 2. What's going on in your life right now? what's 'driving you' I might say.
I'm still tired, I've only just got out of bed (at...oh, 9AM >>) and I'm a little stressed over revision I should be doing but don't want to. Also frustrated over my lack of artistic talent as I look through elite artists' work on deviantART. As for what's going on in my life? I'm happy on the whole. My first college year is coming to a close and I have only a Chemistry and History exam to go through. Today I'm going out to get brochures for Japan, where I'll be spending my 18th birthday. I've also decided solidly on my future career, what university I'll be going to, and the course I'll be studying. Things seem to be falling into place (finally). Also, indifference? You should completely key that prat's car.
22. Thanks for clearing that up, Sandy~ I was just checking in case I didn't understand something. I've never heard them called diorama before, but I have made a couple of these. We had to do it years ago in school; one was showing the extinction of the dinosaurs and another was a shot into an Egyptian tomb. I think I know what I'm going to do now, especially since I've seen those examples, too. Also, thanks everyone for the support~ If you all like, I can send my design sketches your way via PM when they're done? As a warning: I have an exam next wednesday which I need to spend the next four days revising for, so I won't have a chance to sit down and make this until after then. However, I will be free after that so I'll crack on.
23. I have to build a miniature world. ... Please excuse me while I go crumple in this dusty corner and cry. [Even though my mouth is still open and I'm kind of 'WTF?!?!ing', I think I have a plan. >_> Muaha] Also, Sandy, just to clarify: I don't have to have an entire stretch of world, do I? I mean, I could build up a shot into someone's house or something. I have read the article, just thought I'd check.
24. I have to agree with you, Shy. When I posted in here last night it was just before I replied to your thread, and contributions so far had been joking around and less than serious. However, as the thread went on (as I was reading this morning) I think good did come from it and provoked some good discussion. As you say, an announcement over it can only be a good thing, I think. You did raise important issues I'm sure others have been thinking. Now we wait (once again) and see what comes of this duel. Well done, though, Shy, and good luck Kathy.
25. Allamorph is right about what it means in this context. But you shouldn't have to worry about that, as you find your own description using the generator I provided a link to. That's just the description I'm going to use for myself when I draw a character. I hope I made that clear enough. :animedepr
