If you're going to be playing for the whole nine hours, then I suggest Mario Kart DS. As well as just attempting to complete the four engine modes available, you can go ahead and try to max out your rank in each race to the triple star ranking. Plus, there's Mission Mode, which is kind of lengthy in its own right if you choose to max that out to triple star ranking too. If I was to go on a nine hour plane ride though, I would invest in several games to keep me occupied, such as New Super Mario Bros. and Animal Crossing DS, just in case you get bored with the one, and assuming you have the money.
Wait. So your saying the one in America is easier than the one in Japan? :animedepr [/FONT']
Pretty much, yeah. :catgirl:
A couple days ago, I was playing Mario All-Stars at a friend's house, and we playing the Lost Levels, in which a only got so far in...You get a Mushroom like every three stages... Which Mario game was this originally, because I remember hearing about it not being released in America for it being to hard and switched out with the one that had Birdo in it. :animestun [/FONT']
Yeah, The Lost Levels is extremely difficult, not just for the lack of Mushrooms available in the game. I thought the Poison Mushroom was pretty cool though. But as far as I know, it was called Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan, and the only American and European release of the game was included in All-Stars, which is suppose to be like a walk in the park compared to the original Japanese version, which is saying something given how hard it is anyway.

I merged the "Memorable Gaming Moments" thread with the "Favourite Gaming Moments" thread as they're both similar topics with similar replies, and I also edited the thread title so that nobody gets confused in between reading the posts.
I think you mean umpteenth. :whoops:[/FONT']
I did mean "n"-teenth, not umpteenth. Both work, but umpteenth sounds too old fashioned for me. And the thing about selling old games, in my case, is that if I hadn't sold them in the first place to get the cash, then I wouldn't have been able to buy any future games, because I'd be broke, though at times I wish there could've been another way for the sake of replay value. Anyway, I visited my cousin last night, and I scored a copy of Batman Returns for the SNES off him. He was happy to hand it over, since he didn't play it any more. Along with Final Fight One and Rival Turf, I think that it's one of the best beat em ups of its generation. The length of the levels is reasonable, and the enemies you're up against come no where near to being a push-over. One my favourite things about the game is how you can use the surrounding environments to your advantage, for example, grappling an enemy close to a wall would give you the opportunity to bash them into it a couple of times. The visuals are typical of any beat em up, but the colour scheme used helps to liven things up.
.One of my favourites being Super Mario All-Stars (be jealous!).[/FONT']
I might be the kind of *** to sell off the classics but I still have Super Mario All-Stars. That's the kind of thing you pass down to your kids when you're older.

The price is a major put-off, not just for those who are into the specifics of the PS2, and know all about its potential, but also for the casual gamers who are just looking for something to play. Regardless of who the target audience for the PS3 is, the price as it stands will definitely be an issue for some. If I do ever get a PS3, the price will have to drop dramatically to what I would see as an affordable price for me. Though on the other hand, by the time the price does drop, I'll be able to judge whether it is actually worth getting. There's also the fact that not many of the launch games pique my interest to justify getting one right away, but the price is the main issue.
The Guilty Gear games are pretty fun to me. Sometimes though they can get kinda' boring. No offense. But they are a pretty good game series! So yeah I am like a Guilty Gear game fanatic. So cout me in! :catgirl:
If a post is going to cut it in Play It, then I'm afraid it's going to need a bit more expansion than that. You can get the ball rolling by commenting on why Guilty Gear is fun to you, or why you find it boring, or even who your favourite character is -- it's not hard. I'm not asking for an essay here, or anything hugely elaborate, but just a little more insight on your behalf, because your post doesn't do much to generate any kind of discussion, which is pretty much the basis of Otakuboards.

Honestly, given half the chance I would go back and play all of the games I grew up with once more, but in typical fashion I almost always sell off the games I don't play anymore to buy new ones, which is a decision I always come to regret. Right now, the game I'm currently craving to play is Super Mario World for the SNES, and I've considered getting the GBA port, but it's probably a phase I'm going through, so I doubt I will; there are other games that deserve my ill-gotten cash spent on. The only game I own that come close to a classic is Final Fantasy VII, which I'm playing again for the "n"-teenth time. The only reason I ever play the game is so I can work towards fighting the Weapons, because when you've played it as many times as I have, it seems like it's the only thing that's left to do that's fun, apart from the crater.
EB Games is confusing! I reserved my copy of Dirge of Cerberus yesterday, but the only reason I knew it was on reserve was from the website! They had no signs or any way to know that you could reserve already. Also, they said the release date was Aug.22,but Square-Enix.com said it was Aug.15....maybe EB will change their information.Anyway,I can't wait for the game!!! It's gonna be awesome!!! But I heard the controls were confusing.
According to many gaming websites, the US release date is set for the 22nd of August, as was announced at E3. Regardless of what Square-Enix have posted on their website, it's still only a seven day difference between the two dates, so I'm sure you can wait, heh. But, a DoC thread already exists here, which would be a decent place to discuss any DoC related issues you may have, even though it's pretty old, and seeing as your post is more of a rant rather than a basis for discussion, I don't see why this thread should stay open. Thread closed.

Well, Argentina just beat Mexico 2-1; both teams giving out a fantastic performance, not to mention the amazing atmosphere that the spectators produced. It was a great match overall, which went into extra time, and I seriously urge those who missed it to some how, some way watch a re-run, because it's these kinds of games that make world cup history, and of course, goals like Rodriguez's winner. Sheesh. :animenose
I love games with unique gameplay. It doesn't have to be totally original, but anything with a unique spin on it can get my attention. That and expansive, open-ended levels. Both of these things have put Deus Ex and Hitman high on my favorites list, despite them both being otherwise relatively ordinary shooters.
Yeah, same here. Gameplay is what mostly drives me into playing a game, regardless of its graphics or storyline, because it's essentially what makes a game playable. If you compare the line of Hitman games, they each look similar in terms of graphics, with the exception of Contracts, but I've found that they've all drastically improved in gameplay. For example, Hitman Blood Money provides you with many ways of taking out enemies, even though they're somewhat conventional, with my favourite being the fibre wire choke from the elevator shaft -- an inter-textual reference to the movie Leon, which is cool. Like many others, I totally dig RPGs, but I never expect there to be some earth shattering story line that twists and turns, as in many cases, there aren't really many directions in which the story can follow, thus producing the massive amount of RPG cliches we all know of (though Tales of Symphonia threw me when
I found out that Kratos was Llyod's father
). I'd much prefer it if the producers put more time and thought into making a fun and innovative battle system.
What's wrong with the post quality? We're just talking about the elements of Naruto Ultimate Ninja? Like how many characters there are and how fast it can get old. Except for that time where the two people were talking Gungrave...
Yes, there are predominantly good posts in this thread, but there are also those that don't quite match Otakuboard's standards, as in the ones which lack material, which only urges others to follow their lead. People posting about how awesome the game will be, or how they can't wait for it doesn't cut it. But, for some reason I deleted your last post regarding the characters in the game, which is a valid post, so I'll look into restoring it. Sorry about that. Oh, and I did intend to mention the off-topic Gungrave fiasco, just in a very in-direct manner. I never noticed it at the time, which is, granted, my omission, otherwise I would have said something, but seeing as nobody has mentioned it up to now, I figured it must have blown over. However, my post regarding post quality still stands, and I'd like for things to pick up in this thread. If you want to talk about this any further then you can send me a PM.

The most prudent thing for me to do right now is to close this thread, because I'm not convinced by the quality of your post, as past experience tells me that it's most likely to encourage a further string of posts of the same quality. You're welcome to create another thread if you wish, just as long as you put in some effort to make it worth keeping open, such as what you specifically enjoy about Galerians, how you feel about it thus far having gotten pretty far in the game, or even make comment on the anime voices. Stuff like that. If you find that you're still stuck and need some help, then check out the rules page, and if that's a no-go, then feel free to give me a buzz via PM. Thread closed.

Yeah, I've been following it religiously. Argentina just beat Serbia 6-0, which isn't surprising, putting them through to the quarter finals. As always, I'm supporting the Germans, even though they've become a fairly average team over the years, compared to the monster of a team they used to be. Nevertheless, they qualified after beating Poland the other day, so I'm happy. Oh, and Gavin, as for Australia, I wouldn't give up on them yet just yet, heh. They did pretty well against Japan, who have some quality players, so who knows what's going to happen.

The post quality has deteriorated horribly in this thread, and I just deleted two posts that prove my point. So, I expect things to pick up from here on, otherwise I'm closing the thread.

The only thing stopping me from getting a Lite is the thought of splashing out on yet another handheld, but judging from the positive feedback that it's getting from you guys, it seems like it wouldn't be such a bad thing if I did. I sold my first DS around a month ago because I really wasn't happy with the design; my left hand developed a nasty cramp whenever I played it for long periods, and its bottom corners dug into my palms, creating an itching sensation. I'm glad to hear that the Lite is just about everything that the DS isn't, which is encouraging, and with the wave of new DS titles coming along, I'm drawn closer and closer to actually getting one. And about colours, I, myself, would prefer a red Lite if it was available, but the Enamel Navy looks equally cool. Black looks the part, too, but my SP was black, so go figure. As for the Polar White, it just looks cheap and... plasticy

This topic is just over six months old now, and I'm pretty sure that the thread-starter has resolved his issues concerning a lack of long RPGs over the months. So, in future, please try not to revive old threads if you feel that it's not completely necessary, especially if there are already a few other RPG recommendation threads floating about Play It that you could post in. Remember, if anyone has any questions, then feel free to contact either me or Charles via PM -- we'd be glad to help (it's our job, you see). Thread closed.
Does anyone else think that since Link is going with the look in his upcoming gane, DO you think that Young Link might actually get the 'Cel-da' look?
Ack, I can see it now: I've already unlocked three different kinds of Link, and then all of a sudden I get a "A new challenger approaches!1!1", only for it to be Cell Link. -_- Man, that would be so annoying.
Heres the truth. Their really are no exact clones of chacters in SSB they are chacters with similar movesets but totally diffrent stats. For instance Pichu is much faster than pikachu and has a stronger B^ move. Jigglypuff is certainly not a bad chacter its just people never took the time to use her since shes well.....jigglypuff. She and kirby are the only ones with superior extended jumps.Making her not complelty useless. Also Marth and Roy are nothing alike Roy is alot more power oriented than Marth. Despite this being said I wouldnt mind Pichu or Dr Mario taken out they arent exact clones but I rather have complelty diffrent chacters like Pit and MedaKnight take their place.I also want Ganondorf with a sword. It was a little strange using him without one[/COLOR'].
Yeah, I know there are no clones in SSB, as I said in my previous post. My argument stands because basically I'm from a different target audience from say, you or Erika. I don't play SSB competitively, and I know for sure that if I ever did play any of you, I'd get whipped. I pretty much play the game because I enjoy the atmosphere it produces -- you know, multiplayer with mates, the chance to see loads of Nintendo characters at it all at once, the cool stages, and the mini games. So, from my perspective I get fed up seeing Marth and Roy, Link and Young Link, or Piikachu and Pichu, because I'd prefer a much more varied set-up of characters, where as those who play the game competitively would welcome characters like Captain Falcon and Ganondorf, because of the technical differences. I don't really care if they're crap or not.
I just wish they'd get rid of that damn Jigglypuff!! SERIOUSLY. It's a boring fighter, and that KO attack it does is stupid and hard to pull off anyways, and I'd rather play as Pikachu or better yet, Mewtwo. They shouldn't even have Pichu. It's a complete waste of a fighter. They could've had Blastoise or something (who could fight like Bowser, and Hydro Pump can be like a charged attack like Samus's gun).
That's one thing I've always found annoying with SSB. But, for me, it's not so much the fact that they're crappy characters, it's just that I find it pretty boring how the game boasts having plenty of unlockable characters, when some of them are pretty much the same, with a few differences, such as Ganondorf and Captain Falcon. I hated it in SSBM when a "new" character would come along and challenge me out of nowhere, and it turned out to be someone like Marth, Pichu, or Doctor Mario, when I already had Roy, Pikachu, and Mario. I'd like to really be wowed by the new characters in SSBB, like the way GameandWatch did it for me.

I'd much prefer it if we didn't get into the ethics of whether downloading endings off the internet that other people worked hard to see is right or wrong, since it'd just cause sparks to fly, kind of like now. Wouldn't it be better to comment on how tough it is to get to see the secret ending, without any form of judgement? I mean, things would be a lot more friendly, and it's the mature approach to take. I'm not going to comment on who's right or who's wrong, as I'd just be handing out more ammunition, but I'll say this: If you want to watch the ending at youtube.com, then that's fine. If you want to get it yourself, then that's also fine, but I don't see how causing a ruckus here will change any thing, as Hanabishi Recca said.

Gaming .hack//INFECTION / MUTATION / OUTBREAK / QUARANTINE
BlueYoshi replied to DotHacker32's topic in Noosphere
Okay, two things. The issue of post quality is seriously going to have to improve if this thread is to stay open. Talking about the game is fine, but I've noticed that as time goes on, the more and more each post lacks substance, and more over, there's not much in-sight present. I never saw this as a problem before, because I thought that this was a thread where .hack players could gather and simply communicate with each other, but the decline in post quality is a cause for concern. Also, the use of grammar is lacking, and I mean lacking. If this thread is to stay open, then I want to see the use of commas, full stops, capitals after full stops, the works. If posts are more eligible to read, then it'll be easier for people to read them, and maybe respond, and further more, it would make my job so much easier. :animeswea -
Just a reminder to everyone to stay on topic please. Remember, this thread is for discussing LoZ: OOT, and not the dis/satisfaction that GameFAQs provides.

Trivium's "The Crusade" is first on my list, and they apparently finished recording it just a couple of days ago. It's been said that the new album will feature a seven minute instrumental, which I'm looking forward to the most.
