Yowza. Brightness. I love all the happy colors in all your work. Never fails to make me smile. Happy Mothers Day- Gorgeous. The dark colors aren't particularly Mother's-Day-ish, but the image itself is wonderful. Probably one of your best pieces. A few things I noticed, though. You can see a very faint grayish line around the edges of some parts of her hair. Maybe it could have been darkened/blended to fit better in the image? And the font looks a teensy bit awkward where it is. Maybe it should be a bit bigger? Maybe a different placement? I really couldn't tell you how to make it better, though. The background is awesome. I must ask -- Did you make the brushes used in this one, or download them? If you made them, then I bow down to the ulitmate master-person-of-graphics. I you downloaded them, then it's still good, but I must advise you to make your own. Also... Little note, I love the border. Awesomeness. Love- That's cool, the quote is basically the oposite of what's in my current banner, hah. 'Love is just a word', 'Love isn't just a four letter word'. Looks like we dissagree =P I do notice that the 'isn't just a four letter word' font is extremely blurry. The image looks nice overall, but I'd say that Sakura blends just a little too much with the backround. The stock should stand out just a bit more [; But beautiful background! All pretty and spark'ly. [Lacking well-defined border, though...] Sasuke [1]- This has major potential. Nice background. Awesome grungy font. Perfect dashed border. Great use of scan-lines, not over-done. I would have chosen a better stock, though. A colored one. Too much blue is choking out the banner. A clean, colorful image of Sasuke and maybe a bit more interesting brushwork would have make this one of my favorite banners of all time. Sasuke [2]- !!! Wait a minute, look at the background in that avatar... Goodness, I'm in love with it! The stock not so much, for reasons as stated above, but the background, gosh. It's pixel-ish and cute! Loves it. Take my hand- This is nice, over-powered scanlines take away from the image a bit though. Careful with that. Yet again, nice border, but you use the dashed one quite a bit, try using a singe white pixel border inside a single black pixel one. It honestly looks awesome on 99.9% of banners. It's my fault- I notice that most of the time you don't capitalize the letters. I think that the 'I' in 'it's' and the 'F' in 'fault' should be in caps. At least the 'I'. Same as above, the 'T' in 'take' should be in caps, I think. This banner looks cool, especially the background. I'd suggest maybe less opacity on the scanlines? Yeah. They get in the way a bit when they're so prominent. Overall, loverly work. I'm your new biggest fan. *Tackle-hugs* KW, you rock. [:
A suggestion I want to throw out there would be, why not have representation for each forum based on the amount of activity is going on there? It'd be like the US House of Representatives -- smaller, poorer states like Mississippi and Manga Workshop (kidding...) would have fewer people picked than say New York or Otaku Lounge. I guess the frequency of the votes would vary, so the Manga Workshop might have a biannual appointment, whereas Otaku Lounge might have one every three months.
I do think this idea of appointing members for the job has merit, but I think it would be too much to keep up with to have different numbers of members, and the award given at different times. *Shrug* Not only that, but people may complain that there are more awards given in the Art forum than the Anthology forum, or visa-versa. But I must say that most members stand no chance at winning these, because here are the scenarios- a) Members vote/are appointed to pick members for the award. They either pic friends, people they know, someone they share an opinion with, etc. Most people would not give an award to someone they debated against in a thread, anything done this way will be extremely biased. Or... b) The moderators will have much more on thier plates, but it would probably be less biased, as I'd expect moderators would be more likely to pick members deserving rather than popular. However, it is up to whomever appoints what the term 'deserving' means. High post-quality? Thought-provoking ability? Frequency to the forum? All of the above? At any rate, I do believe that OtakuBoards already has an award given to its members and any other outstanding thread, person, etc. called the Nifty Fifty, no?

I most definitely want to be a web-designer. ... Or a video-game designer. Or graphic designer. Or a fashion designer. Or an artist/writer of some kind. I can't see myself in any sort of office or confined space. I see myself in a studio, using computer graphics or something of the sort. Maybe I could write novels. Yeah, that would be fun. But of course, that's what near everyone longs to do these days, with 'emo' being all the rage. Poetry, art, writing... 'They' took all the good stuff, and left the crap jobs for us normal people. I'm still having a difficult time understanding why exactly guys want to wear chick-pants and eyeliner, listen to whiney music, and put the words 'blood', 'autumn', 'dead', 'knife', or 'tears' in all thier peotry >_> Makes no sense. But alas, that's an argument for a different thread.

Erm. Yeah. The avatar is already up there [: It's not perfectly square, that might be what threw you, it's the standard OtakuBoards size avatar. [Edit- It's actually 15 px shorter than OB's standard, I didn't realize that until just now] Save it to your computer and upload it as an avatar, it should work. If you want an 80x80 one, I can do it though. When I get back on my own computer. Edit- Once I get home from work and martial arts [probably around 9ish], I'll fix the fonts, quote and such. Much love.
Life without the Internet ? Or Life without TV ?
Live without TV, for sure. I most definitely could not live without my friends, and internet happens to be my only current means of communication with people where I used to live. Television just doesn't compare. Fall in love and get your heart broken? Or Never have loved at all.

Jig, I'm amazed. Beautiful signature! I'd give the banner and avater a 9/10. And the quote goes perfect. The only thing I have a problem with is the right and left edges of the banner has a little problem. There's a few pixels outside of the 'image' [; But that's not big deal.

That most definitely depends on if you're asking our advice on the subject matter, or lack the knowlegde and programs neccesary. I'm assuming the latter. Now, there are many, many, many ways to make an avatar/banner set. It takes creativity, practice, and some sort of program, such as Photoshop, PaintShopPro, or [the free, yet not-quite-as-good] GIMP. I'll give you a step-by-step on how I make banners, if you have one of the above programs, or any other, for that matter. f you don't, then you can use the set I come up with, and this tutorial just might help someone else. Maybe. Maybe not. 1. Open your image in whatever program you use. 2. This image is a bit big to use on OB, so let's resize it to 50%. I like my banners small and sleek. Feel free to make it as big as you so wish. 3. Crop out a portion that looks nice. 4. Be sure to clean up the image a bit. This one has some slight issues, as it's not the best quality. In PaintShopPro 8, I like to use the Scratch Remover tool to fix most small imperfections. Here's what I've got so far, after re-sizing, cropping, and a bit of cleaning [Aprox. 1.5 minutes]-  5. Now, here's the tricky part. If you like the current background [With the reddish sky], then you can skip on to step 9 or 10. 6. If you want a different background, then extract your stock with the pen tool. This can be time-consuming, but the image is relatively small, so it only took me about 2.5 minutes. 7. Pick a background color and make it a new layer. I chose plain white, because I'm cool like that. 8. Now blend your image with the backround. This just takes practice, theres not much I can teach you here. 9. Now youre ready for the fun part. Brushing. There are hundreds of different methods on this, I generally like to keep things simple. Just some abstract things that match the theme, something plain, yet gorgeous. For this, I'd use my favorite brushes, bloodstain brushes. *Tip- If you're using abrstact brushes to create the background, use them all over on a seperate layer below the stock. If you're just doing something like butterflies, swirlies, blood splatters, etc., then set it on a layer above the stock with a lower opacity. Here's what I've got so far-  10. Now you need some snazzy text. For this, we all love Dafont. I used a font called Juergen, and a font called Elektr-02-5 [< Both links]. 11. Now add a border. I put a single, solid white line inside a single, solid black line. The most simple, and common sort of border for a banner. 12. Now just make your avatar. Basically just crop out a bit of the dude's face and put your username on there and repeat with the black and whie border. Here's what I got-   You can use my set or make your own, but if you use mine be sure to credit me [;

I'm graduating next year, I'd like to go to Savannah College of Art and Design. Possible career choices would be either fashion designer, photographer, web designer, writer, comic artist, or possible own a card shop. Other than that, I have few 'goals'. I have a few prefferences, but that's it. I'd rather adopt children than actually have my own. I'd like to fall in love and get married, but I'd settle for love. And... I suppose that's it.

I must say that you have som talent. Since you didn't post any one particular picture to critique, I'll just give you some advice. There are a few things that look somewhat awkward in a few of your drawings. Generally noses, hips, and hands. The exact things I have troubles with. To remedy this, study the human form. In anime, noses are generally small, occasionally nonexistant. If the nose is larger than any other feature on the face, it's too big. There are exceptions to every rule. Hook nosed characters, for example. For the awkward looking hips and thighs, there is nothing you can do except practic, practice. As for hands, most everyone has difficulties there. There are plenty of tutorials out there to aid in hand-drawing, but few actually help. Hands are like eyes, they will develop to your personal style in time. Hope this helped, and I would like to reiterate that your work is indeed impressive, but it's difficult to grow if you don't know what needs improvement.

My song is niether a classic, nor anything really popular. Hm. I've currently fallen in love with The Spill Canvas. My current favorite song by them is Himerus and Eros, but Polygraph, Now! also has its charm. Himerus and Eros. Your tongue is wet with a top secret passion, I hope I am the cause of it. I'll navigate this unsturdy vessel through a Soft sea of pillows and blankets. [...] And I fight the urge to expore, The vastness of your curves I adore. You know I, I hate you. No, I hate you more! You know I, I love you. No, I love you more! Yes it's true. You've brainwashed me, and now I'm more confused. I still somehow hope I end up with you. Yes, it's true. I romanticize every single thing I do. Especially when it comes to you. And I hope to God I mean a little more than the sounds that escape your tired 4am lips. And oh, how I wish I meant a little more than a symphony and breathing and the friction of hips. This song sums up my current love life, sadly. I do suppose that's why it interests me so. Ah, well.

This one was made to match your current banner, in case you wish to use it here. I just used a snippet of the background >_< If you use this one, don't worry about giving me credit, I didn't really do anything but cut Kirby out. I personally like this one better, for some reason, but if you use it... ... You might need a matching banner [: I wasn't sure if you wanted to use it here or somewhere else, but meh. Please let me know if I can change/fix anything!

The past few months, I've had very little modivation. Let's hope I get my inspiration back! A few banners I just made. Mostly to get back into the groove. I seem to be having a terrible time with any texting, so I just left most of them blank for the time being. The one I did put text on looks dreadful. If anyone can think of good quotes and/or fonts to use, I'd appreciate any suggestions! Help me out? Thanks.
Of course all of us would like to do that, but you can't expect someone to pay full attention for 50 minuits or an hour and a half non stop with a monotonous teacher!!
... That's kinda the point, ne? Obviously, if these people were chosen to stand in front of an entire class and speak, they [hopefully] know what they're talking about, and desrve to be listened to. Unless, of course, you think throwing wads of paper at your neigbor is more important than your academic future. In that case, go right ahead. If you had something important to say, how would you like it if everyone was discussing ways to drown you out? Hm? It's really not very nice.

Shakespeare got to get paid, son. Hillarious. Every time I read your banner, I laugh. Heh.. The mocking, simple, 'gangsta' qualities of this banner deserve applause. *Claps* Not much else to say, but I'd definitely give your signature an 8/10 for sheer humor. [:

Clicketh, loverlies. I do believe I've posted in this thread before, but whatever. Yesh, I am a 15 year old female, so I must be very careful what I reveal to strangers on the internet. That is why, from my page, it is impossible to figure out anything about except that my name is JayCee, and vaguely what I look like. I doubt that's enough for a stalked to find me from. I only have a MySpace because I've lived all over the country, and I have found over 50 people that I never would have spoken to again otherwise. Yea I'm addicted, but only because I zero friends where I live, and a ton in other states. Also, it's a good way to keep my site-designing skills sharp, seeing as I re-design my frontpage as much as physically possible. Also, I do have to OtakuBoards members on my friends list. Hah, Gav is one on those lucky few. Dragon Warrior, Aka Prom Crasher xP Oh, and I hide my friend count. I hate people who use MySpace as an 'I have more friends than you!' place.

How do I move up in ranks or whatever....
And don't call us--we'll call you. ;)

Well mods I'm going for the spot...any others care to going my campaine
Don't you love it when people listen? But really, I'm supposing moderators need at least be members before chosen. Also, I'm pretty sure James only takes in mods once he's met, talked to, and trusts them. *Shrugs* But maybe I've got no clue what I'm talking about. But before you try to become a Moderator, I expect one of the existing ones is going to direct you towards the rules, seeing as it's doubtful you've read them. Your post quality is simply dreadful. -
School, work, and more school. I homeschool, and school through the whole year so I can graduate early and work full time for a few years before college so I can afford to go to the one of my choosing, if my step-father permits. But anywho, I don't really have much plans for the summer. I was hoping to maybe hang out with my friends some, but it's very unlikely. Oh, but I am taking two weeks off in July to see my dad in Michigan. That should be fun.

Do You Think About Your Generation's Future?
sakurasuka replied to Touchstone's topic in General Discussion
Humans just need to learn to "get along," as the supposed cliche goes (with some alterations, perhaps).[/SIZE']
Thank you. A summerized version of what I've been saying from the start of this thread, we all need to just get along and stop fighting. Perhaps not in this thread, because OB is built on debates, but nevertheless, I do think that attacking Derald should've gotten old ages ago. *Sigh* Seriously, why Derald? I've agreed with him every post, and so have many others, why do you continue to attack him? It really is something that I have yet to comprehend. Mob mentality, maybe? Yes, that's what it is. One person says 'Screw you, you're ******** up America!' and someone else says 'Yeah! You idiot!' and after just a few more people join in, you've got yourself a mob. Poor Derald. Seriously, NONE of you have taken ANY of the completely VALID points Derald has mentioned into consideration, you've just blindly bashed his point of view. My opinion, since I know you're all dying to hear it -- It's you kind of people that are screwing up the system, not him. Let's have an actual debate on actual points, rather than a simple-minded bashing session, shall we? We're all [somewhat] mature here, I do believe we can handle it. Edit-
Personally, I'm rather excited. I had a conversation like this IRL, so I'll say now what I said then. We live in a time that is different from others, almost like we're on the cusp of something big. This is the sort of time that Sci-Fi writers have dreamed of, and so much is possible. Now, if we could do something, that dream could be carried out.
I must say that I don't think we're anymore on the cusp of anything than the previous generations, but it would be something. I do believe we will make tremendous progression, but so have most generations. Otherwise we wouldn't be where we are today. Al Quarizme, for example. Einstien. The list goes on and on, I assure you. But yes, the dream that we are in fact 'The Generation' isn't likely, and , like you mentioned, it's something that's been said so many times the very words have lost meaning. Just like every [Religious] generation believes they are the generation of the Apocolypse. This is no different. 2nd Edit- Gah, this cannot go un-noticed-
Uhm, of course there are bigger problems. But to say that there are bigger problems isn't justification for ignoring a big problem. It's like saying...well there are terrorists and people that want to generally do harm to the people of the US.....but one o' these days the sun's gonna blow up! We better start doing something about that and ignore the terrorists! -__-[/color']
So... Let's see if I understood you... You're calling Derald a terrorist...?
I'm pretty sure i'd be a lot better in politics than him. Actually i'm 100% certain. And the fact that you said that is completely moronic and biased. [/font']
Seeing as you don't personally know him, the above is a statement that you cannot possibly make. By the way, Derald is a genius, basically. You'd have to be to figure out my high-on-caffiene-2am-Private Mails. I'm sure I make absolutely no sense whatsoever. But that's besides the point >_>
Yeah, you're absolutely right. I'm so glad we agree. If there were less people like you then the world would be a lot better off! Yaaaay! We agree! Yaaaaay!
Here is where I roll my eyes and stare at your post in disbelief. Honestly, I do believe bashing people personally is against OB's rules. I think we should all start acting our age and debate on the real topic, rather than the ideas of one teenage boy. M'kay? M'kay. -
Guess what, Tical? I'm in love with your new signature. Definitely. But the person with the coolest sig in the universe is Delta. The handicap battles are bacically going to be awesome [: And she's right, Baron Samedi always has interesting and hillarious things in his sig.
I guess you missed the part where I posted. And I've never heard such a blind, idealistic statement in my life. "If you work hard, you can do anything!" I'm sure that works in Pokemon, but not in real life where you are bound by socioeconomic factors completely out of your control. Sure, working hard might work for 5% of people less fortunate than yourself, but the reality is that it just doesn't work. Not everyone has an equal playing field, and Affirmative Action seeks to level it a bit.
Hrm. I'm going to tell you guys a story. I grew up in a trailer park until I was about 10. My dad left us before I was 1, we lived with my aunt until my mom married my daddy's best friend, and then we lived in an even smaller trailer, 'cause my step-dad was a laborer and couldn't afford a house. Mom homeschooled me until the fourth grade because there of money issues, and we moved every 4-6 months so step-dad could find more work. I was supposedly a lost cause. Once we moved to GA and she put me in school, it was horrible. Jackson County has the worst school system in GA, and GA is ranked second lowest in the country. However, though I had all those factors working against me, I'm now a junior doing exceptional on my schoolwork [I am once again homeschooled, but I took my work into my own hands years ago and teach myself now. I GOT MYSELF A JOB to pay for a tutor for any classes I needed help on], and I have done exceedingly well on all SAT practice tests, with around an average of 670 on mathmatics and 720 on verbal. I am taking the SAT June third. But now that we live in an actual house and my step-dad has worked hard to make his way to vice-president of his constuction company, AA could possibly negetively affect me, though I am one who worked hard despite my living conditions. How is that for un-fair? What about the hard working people like me? I hate people who sit around and complain about thier lives. Anyone can read a book, reguardless of where you are. Anyone can teach themselves, most people can get help. AA works in theory, but so do most things. Hell, even communism works in theory. Life should be less about hand-outs and more about hard work.

Do You Think About Your Generation's Future?
sakurasuka replied to Touchstone's topic in General Discussion
It's more of the "I'm ignorant and proud" thing that everyone pounced on him about. It's rather ignorant to be happy about the world when it really is a sad, unfair place.
He didn't claim proud ignorance, he claimed contented apathy. There is an enormous difference. I still say everyone should just do what they can to be happy with thier lives. Out of happiness grows a caring, sharing attitude that really can change this world for the better. But really, all you people who just think you can change the world on your own are wrong. There are problems with the world, but it really doesn't need some drastic change. Hitler thought he had good ideas for the world. He wanted to change it for the better. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Also, all of us will eventually die. There is no changing that. And in some future, be it near or very far, the human race will end. I believe it will end by God's means, but for those who don't, let's say a meteor hits the Earth. We're going to die out eventually. The best possible motto is to be in the world, not of it. Be content within yourself. That's really all you can do. -
Ugh, DeathKnight, get off your high-horse and stop attacking the people in this thread just because they have a different view point than you! Honestly! I must say I agree with Doukeshi. And he got to my point first, so I suppose I'll just add on to it. KatanaViolet, I see your point. I do think they have a right to be in the country, but let's look at this realistically, shall we? Q- Why do they want to come over here so bad? A- Because there are problems in Mexico. Q- How do you stop them from coming over illegaly? A- Solve the problems in Mexico. Q- How do you solve the problems in Mexico? A- Stop making things easy for illegal aliens! If they really all were stuck down there, they'd DO something about the living situation, rather than just coming over here. Q- Why would they bother staying at home and fighting there, when they can just get across the border and they're home-free? A- They wouldn't. Game. Set. Match. We're essentially not helping them at all by letting them come over here illegally, but we're only hurting our economy and crippling ourselves. If they want to actually WORK at becoming a citizen, learn the language, and be legal, then more power to 'em!

Signatures are a place to show people who you are. A personalized banner. A funny tidbit. Maybe some links to other places like your MyO, or you site. Or just a nice quote you heard, some song lyrics you like. I personally think any line of text over four-six full lines long is too long. Too much text, especially if you have a banner as well. It just makes for unnecesary scrolling. Put it on your MyO or your MySpace if you like it so much, but really... Writing out basically a whole song in your signature is obnoxious. I say, if you must have song lyrics/poetry in you signature, pick 2-6 short lines and be done with it. Othewise, I can honestly say, very few people will stop to read it, and even fewer will comment on it. If you really want people to comment on your sig, make it eye-catching. More than a simple black box with TOOL written in it, with a Tool song written below it. Honestly, if I had the Green Day-American Idiot song writting out in my signature, with a little green box saying GREEN DAY, would you comment? Nahh. Be original! On another note, noone has ever commented on any of my signatures either, but I really haven't ever expected any comments. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone [;
