1.
THe initial question in this topic was "can we change the world with a voice or actions and how many will it take" right? Well, I think that a voice can do nothing to change the world, you have to actually do something. A voice fallen on deaf ears merely speaks to itself, (Im coining that one) one must act on what they believe is right. Don't go asking others what you should do, just do what you think is right. You don;t need someone else's mandate to do it, it's all on you. If you wanna change the world, shut your mouth and get to work, quit tallking about it and do it.
There you go! That's the spirit! But yeah, I do think one person can change the world. Anyone ever hear the name Hitler? He changed the world. Maybe not in a good way, but he changed it nonetheless. How about Einstien? The world definitely wouldn't be the same without his findings.
 2.
Woah, woah, don't drag me into this! I'm not interested in sex change, that would just be weird! And don't make assumptions about me, I don't 'hate' hearing anything, I know I'm an immature teenage boy going through very strange changes and stuff and I know I'm not special in any way, you're makiing me sound like something I'm not here. Look, you don't know me and you evidently don't know much about me, so don't go talking like you do. Also, I know I'm to young for sexual relations and as I've said about 7 million times Im not interested, I was just stating my willingness to do that. Anyway, I just find this to be an interesting topic, and I'd like to hear other's opinions on it, that's all.
Sorry for erm... Making asumptions. It's merely that your profile stated that you didn't know if you wanted to be a boy or a girl [or something along those lines] so yes, I assumed. The rest of what I said was from reading other posts by you. No, I don't know you, but you do tend to put everything out there, so I must say, unless you're lying, I know quite a bit. Yet again, I apologize for making assumptions. I'm quick to do that, sometimes. Sorry. No hard feelings?
 3.
I'm not a prep, or a punk. Nor a nerd or a goth. And I'm not one of those stoners, That hides their stash in a sock. I am not a cheerleader, Or a wigger with a beater, Or one of the 'gangstas' With the fake diamond in their ear. I'm not anti-social, Nor popular with all. I hate R&B, And going to the mall. I guess I don't fit, In any kind of role. My mom put it best, "Corey, you're an assh*le."
Hahaha! Omigosh, that realy did make me laugh. It's good stuff there. Also, if one more person says 'I don't like labels, but I guess I'm a goth/punk/etc.' I'll hit him/her in the head with a shovel. *Raises shovel above head*
 4. Hm. I'll try to do this. I dunno when I can get it to you by, but I'll let you know if it's going to take me a long time. Just posting to let you know, lol.
 5.
is "american idiot" the only greenday cd you have. greendays cool
I have every song Green Day has ever done [And many versions of each, I might add. I have a few versions of Basket Case recorded from when Green Day played at Woodstock] on my MP3 player currently. But please, let's get some real conversation going on in this thread! Finally I've found some Green Day lovers who aren't total Losers/Posers/Fluff-Brained-Go-With-The-Flow-Wanna-Be's. Ah, another mention about WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS, this song was partially written in memorance of Billie Joe's late father. Though, most of you likely know that. Just trying to stir up some conversation.
 6.
What is the deal with everyone going against everything i put down here? OK just post if your gonna tell about any concerts or tours. and any more band bashing and i'll take it to your band.
Most people here don't like Green Day for one of two reasons- 1. The majority of people who post in this forum are Metal Heads [No offence, I'm just stating the obvious!] 2. Green Day has become too popular for all the wrong reasons. I looked at a bulliten on my My Space account the other day. It was a chain-letter where you posted your 5 top favorite bands. The first 967 people had Green Day as thier #1, and it slowly faded to My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, etc. But still, the majority were Green Day. The message Green Day puts out really speaks to me. I like them, and I've liked them since I was eight years old. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Green-Day-Lover-Wanna-Be's. Anywho, I saw Green Day in Atlanta last time they toured. Jimmy Eat World *shudder* opened for them. I didn't like that one bit. But Green Day was good. Most definitely.
 7.
It's not really clear if Jesus of Suburbia and St. Jimmy are the same person. According to Green Day, St. Jimmy is a boy that the main character meets on the streets. Jimmy is meant to represent one interpretation of rebel (bad*** who defies authority and does whatever he wants) while Whatername is meant to represent the other interpretation (someone who actually tries to change things). I think that St. Jimmy is an alter ego that the "Jesus of Suburbia" created, especially after seeing the video for Jesus of Suburbia[/i']. Near the end of the video the JoS writes "St. Jimmy" on the bathroom wall before he leaves home, which is supposed to be before he meets Jimmy.
Haha, we posted the same thing at the same time. Lol.
Actually, Tre only wrote Rock 'n Roll Girlfriend, I think. All three members wrote the track together.
Y'know... You're right. I wasn't even thinking, I was just trying to get to the end of the list. Lol. But Tre did write more of this one than any of the rest on the album. Sorry though, my bad.
Also, how do you listen to Governator and Favorite Son[/i']? I didn't hear them when listening to the CD in my CD player, and when I tried to play the CD on my computer, all I got was a window that offered me ringtones.
I downloaded it. I dunno if it's on the one you buy in stores or not, I don't buy CDs in stores. I use i-Tunes, usually.
 8.
Most of American Idiot's songs are kinda generic, my two favorite are Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming. BTW the name of the chracter is Jimmy.
Hm. Not necesarily. The songs 'Saint Jimmy' and 'Jesus of Suburbia' imply that this 'Saint Jimmy' is someone he meets after he rebels, but it could be interperated to mean that he met another part of himself, AKA 'Saint Jimmy', throwing away his old identity as 'Jesus of Suburbia'. It is never clear.
Many people think that this is a political album, but they most likely haven't listened to all of it.[/FONT']
It is, very much so, a political album. The entire undertone of the album was meant to make a political statement. You've obviously only read the Green Day Authority song meanings, and not heard the interviews. In all actuallity, the political aspects were meant to be the prominent parts, and the story of the angsty teenager was to be the underlying meaning, and give the lyrics a place to lead. Jesus of Suburbia was meant to be the vessel for Green Day to portray thier thoughts, emotions, and ideas. Many of them being political.
Only two of the songs (American Idiot & Holiday) have political themes in them, and that has to do with the main character's (and the band's) political beliefs.[/FONT']
Only half true. The 'Song Meanings' written up on that page may have focused on Saint Jimmy/Jesus of Suburbia's mishaps and adventures in life and in love, but JoS himself is a political figure. They just tip-toed around that, even though it is a perfectly important part of the album.
For those interested, the story is about a boy known as the Jesus of Suburbia. He's an angsty teenage punk who's fed up with his life, so he decides to leave home in search of freedom, and instead learns about life and love (that sounds corny :animeswea) .
Yes, that is perfectly true. JoS is also meant to represent the rebel in all of us. Careful how you word that statement, though, angsty teenage punk as he may be, he's the very person the album revolves around.
Please keep in mind that this is just for fun[/B']. We can never be 100% sure that's what Billie/Mike/Tre meant when they wrote the songs.
That would explain why it's not all exactly explained the way Billie Joe meant it to be. Also, many songs leave room for interpretation, so most songs can mean pretty much whatever you want them to. Now, let's get down to business. I'm only going to rate the high points and low points of the album, to give a general idea for those who haven't listened to it. We'll leave the in-between ones out, as they'll prove to be only text with no meaning coming from me. AMERICAN IDIOT- In being the title track, I expected a bit more. Given it's a nice deviation from many of thier older songs, it could have been a bit faster paced. It is, after all, supposed to represent a lost teenager in a confusing world. JESUS OF SUBURBIA (Broken down for your convenience =P) I. JESUS OF SUBURBIA- Nicely done. The music blends perfectly with the lyrics, and it sets the scene for the rest of the song. II. CITY OF THE DAMNED- I love how they toned down the lyrics just enough to make you feel some emotion, but still kept the feel of an angsty teen. III. I DON'T CARE- My favorite part. Billie Joe really shines here, you see some of the same lead guitar tendencies as in Dookie. I love it. IV.DEARLY BELOVED- This, I believe, is when the song gets serious. It pulls together the somewhat sparatic parts of the song and gives them a deeper meaning. V. TALES OF ANOTHER BROKEN HOME- The bass could be a bit more prominent, as they seem to be somewhat lacking in this part of the song. Other than that minor detail, I am absolutely thrilled with how they pulled off the 'You're leavin'... You're leavin'... Oh, you're leavin' HOME!' without drowning out Billie Joe's voice [since it fades in and out]. Brilliant. HOLIDAY- Awesome. Probably my favorite, next to JoS and Saint Jimmy. You've all heard this song, there's no need for me to break it down. I must say, though, I love the ending. Zieg heil to the president gasman, Bombs away is your punishment. Pulverize the Eiffel towers, Who criticize your government. Bang, Bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the fags that don't agree. Trials by fire, setting fires Is not a way that's meant for me. Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws, yeah! BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS- Just another sad slow song. I dunno why everone loves it so much. ARE WE THE WAITING?- Starts slow, with the drums... Guitar and bass join in... Nice, slow, steady beat... Lyrics are brilliant. I'd recomend this song to any who are slow to accept 'punk rock', as this song is just a good song. Not particuarly a 'punk' song, but a good song all in all. ST. JIMMY- Hell YES. I love the guitar part from about 17 seconds in until the very end. Fast paced, essential to the story, nice lyrics, overall the best song on the album. Well... If you ask me, anyway. 'My name is Jimmy and you MAY NOT wear it out!. Heh. If you think Jimmy is JoS's alter-ego, then this song will be proof. If you think JoS meets Jimmy after he leaves, then this song also seems to support that theory. Lol. GIVE ME NOVACAINE- This is a necesary part of the album, I know, but I didn't personally think they did it to the best of their abilities. I think that the lyrics of the song would have better fit a fast-paced beat like 'She's a Rebel'. Maybe they could have made it better by adding some neat drum solos before the chorus... SHE'S A REBEL- Old Whatsername. The beat is catchy, but other than that there isn't much to say about it. Good song. HOMECOMING- I think this is one of those middle-of-the-line songs, but I'm only mentioning it because it is supposedly one of the 'high points' of the album. The death of Saint Jimmy (AKA Jesus of Suburbia, many think). The lyrics and the music are meh. Tre wrote this song. I think that's pretty much all there is to say. WHATSERNAME- This song deserves a mention. Terrible lyrics. It's simply the Jesus of Suburbia looking back at past love wondering what went wrong. He remembers all of the good and bad that happened with his love, but that part of him [Saint Jimmy]is dead and gone, and he can't even recall her name... GOVERNATOR- Heh. Governator. Haha. 'I'll be back' Get it? Hahaha... Meh. FAVORITE SON- And you say this ISN'T a political album!?
 9. I don't think it's that difficult to find a random member, whether there's a button for it or not. Lol.
 10. Tical, honey, you're 14. You shouldn't be having sex with anyone. Slow down. Honestly. Getting a sex change isn't just a 'quick fix'. You're mainly only having these thoughts because you recently decided that you were bisexual, and you and your boyfriend [of about a week. Sorry, I just find it amusing that you can say you love someone, and a week later hate them] split up. Also, as much as I know you hate hearing this, you are an immature teenage boy going through hormonal changes and having strange thoughts and feelings. And, though I know you hate hearing this as well, you're not anyone super-special, this happens to nearly every goddamn loser on the face of this planet. Only when you realize that can you grow up and move on. On topic. I don't have any problem with sex changes in theory. Here's what I have a problem with. The risk involved. It's a long painful process, and most people just don't understand that. People doing it for the wrong reasons. Very few people are truly happy after getting a sex change, and most feel more lost and confused then before they did it. If you know that you really want to do it and you understand all the risks, then go for it. But I just don't think it's the best answer for most people. And I don't know if I'd be able to love someone who's had a sex change, because most who have don't truly know themselves. If they had a firm grasp on who they are, and we really, truly loved each other, I'd have absolutely no qualms.
 11.
I'm fourteen, though I like to think I am far too wise and mature to be fourteen. Of course, my emotional stability is that of your average teenager... well, more like a teenage girl. (dammit why does that always come out?)
There's something I've noticed. All young teenagers think they're far more mature than their peers. Even me, sometimes. It that same respect, it takes teenagers until they're older to realize how immature they really are, and be able to admit it. So, who is then, really more mature?
 12.
hey, guess wat? if you don't like that sorta ****, then don't read it! or watch it or whatever. quite frankly, i have absolutely no problem with. it's hentai, i mean, this is the saddest arguement i have ever heard. LISTEN, IT SELLS! truest me! i learned this with doujin. H doujin sells a hell of alot better than non H doujinshi. to refrace it-SEX SELLS. besides, i think that jsut because you see someone in an anime with big boobs you yell "SEXISM" is pretty dam sad, too. i mean, that doesnt make the series sexist at all. for it to be sexist, there has to be descrimination against woman. and often that isn't the case.
Sex does sell. And that's the saddest part of it. Guys nowadays would much rather sit at home and watch porno/hentai than live thier lives and meet real girls. And - because of the obnoxiously large chested women in anime and other places - boys are having a skewed view of reality and of women. Magizines, TV shows, movies, and now even cartoons are portraying women as merely sex objects. It's no wonder so many teen girls are falling back on plastic surgery lately. I think that's really what girls have a problem with, it's now having to compete with not only our peers, but the goddamn cartoon characters. Personally, I think that the flat-chested girls from DNAngel are cuter, and much more pretty than the mongo-bongos from Psycic Academy. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's somewhat gross and un-realistic.
 13.
To this I ask, how many does it take to change the way of the world.
I say two. Me and you, babe, we'll rule the world together =] But seriously, we're gonna need recources. Major recources.
 14. I'm a homeschooled 15 year old. I'm graduating next year. In the meantime, OB has been a good way to waste time. In being a homeschooler, I don't have very many friends. I joined the boards originally in hopes to make some, but alas, I've not really made any friends in the over a year that I've been here. I've talked to a few people, but the only one that could be considered a 'friend' would probably be Tical's Foxboy. And that's only because we like to complain about our lives and talk about love to each other. And we've only been 'friends' less than a month, lol. I guess it's not that I don't have friends because I'm homeschooled, it appears as though I'm just anti-social. Or you guys just all hate me ;) So... Yeah. I'm 15. Since that was the question.
 15. I'm happy you like them! Much love!
 16. Alright, I just noticed that you wanted cursive on both the banners... I accidentally just put it on one >.< I kinda think that one of them looks good with the pixel font though, but I can change it if you'd like =] Hm. A bit more purple than I'd wanted. I probably should've lowered the opacity on that one *nods* I kinda liked the blood stains... But if that's not what you were going for, I can take them off. Just let me know.
 17. Sure thing, would you like matching avatars?
 18.
And most of the anime that depicts girls in this crude manner are usally MADE FOR GUYS! There called shonen for a reason. So fif the audeience is guys anime creators dont give a rats *** about "how women are portrayed" If you dont like it dont friggin watch it. Go watch pokemon.
Goodness. Keep your shirt on, noone is attacking you. Besisdes, it may be called 'Shonen', but that doesn't mean females can't read it. And-- I'm simply pointing this out because you obviously haven't noticed-- There's mangas and animes made specifically for girls, and the 'large breast' issue is the same. It's not just in the mangas/animes made for guys. So chill out, girls have every right to be offended. You don't own the universe ;) Now I personally don't have a huge problem with anime/manga creators giving thier characters overly-large breasts. I can't say it's something I like or something I think looks attaractive in the least, but it's thier right to portray the characters however they so please. They give men bulging, un-realistic muscles in many animes/mangas, I don't see how this is much different except that a guy with no shirt is acceptable, whereas a girl with a skimpy shirt is considered 'slutty'. Personally, I think that everyone stands on different grounds with this issue. There's little to no point arguing, because noone is going to change thier minds anytime soon.
 19.
Where is the time alotted for homeworking? It's extremely surprising that none of you gave a time slot for it. Strange ... it's a huge chunk out of my life.
I homeschool. All school is homework, lol. Besides, I have almost no school to do as it is. I'm 15, and a junior. I'm trying to wait as long as possible to graduate, but parents keep making me school through summer to get ahead. At this rate, I won't have any time to just be a teenager. So... There's my answer to your question. I'm sure everyone else just flakes off and doesn't do thier homework, lol. Just kidding =P
 20.
i think the girl has to be younger than the boy, for some reason. my bf is turning 20 in late feb and i'm 16 and my bday is in june. he's not too old, well not to me. anyway, the largest age diff limit would have to be 4 years, but after age 21, age diff doesn't matter just as long the woman is younger.
I don't think the girl has to be younger. My boyfriend is almost six months younger than me.
 21. People I know in real life already- Brooklyn- My very best friend in the entire world. Wavemaster Tsuka- My homie. Loves ya! People I want to meet- Derald- You're brilliant, I do wonder what you'd be like in person. Your 'What came first, the chicken or the egg?' theory was awesome =] Dragon Warrior- Ohmigosh, who wouldn't want to meet his-sexiness in person? PAche- Heh. I've seen you around, you've helped me find fonts, and I think we could hang out and have a good time. Stuart- Ah, the randomness. Tical's Foxboy- So I could give you a big hug. ? Nomad Tical ?- You're one of the most intersting people around OB, it'd be fun to see what you're like in real life. Retribution- You are probably the most artistic, poetic person I've ever seen. It inspires me just to LOOK at your graphics. Chibi Horse Woman- Wow, you have the greatest ideas for conversation. OB wouldn't be the same without you. Syk3- Deals with sooooo much spam in the Art By Request forum and never gets mad. And always seems to be interesting. He's kind of always there, but not really there at all... James- I've never disagreed with his opinions on anything, I think he's simply brilliant. Besides, none of us would be here without him =] There's so many more, I just can't name everyone. I wish we could all just get together, all OB members, and meet each other all at once, lol. That would be awesome.
 22. [6:00am] Wake up. [6:30am] Finally drag myself out of bed and eat. [7:00am] Take a shower (My cousin occupies it all morning until she goes to work, that's why I don't take one right away) [8am-1pm] School. (I homeschool.) [1:30pm] Get dressed for work and get mom to drive me to Chick-Fil-A (My... Place of business) [2-7pm] Work. [7:00pm] Go home, get dressed for Karate. [8-9pm] Karate. [9:00pm] Get online. Stay on as long as possible. [Whenever I get off the computer] Go find a place to sleep. I don't have a room anymore (My cousin stole it), so I usually have to sleep on couches and floors. In that time, I find random places to talk on the phone and eat. I'm always eating. And I do extra school and get on the computer on days I don't work. Wednesdays are way too hectic to put in everything I do. My weekends are much different. They consist of alot more work, a little less school, and alot more activities. Example- Little brother's soccer games. Youth soccer reffing. Babysitting. Etc.
 23.
You can love someone, and like someone else. You can love two people. It's called being polyamorous.
I don't think that's the case here, I think he's physically attracted to two girls, and he's confusing the attraction with either love or infatuation when in fact, it is niether. He's just another hormonal teenaged who can't get his feelings straight.
p.s. i know one of you is giong to say something like : if you know the popular girls why don't date one of them?
We most certainly were not. That's just sick, going out with a girl because she's popular, and disreguarding the girl you supposedly 'love'. You're just one of those people who dates for popularity, not your true feelings. One of these days, high school is gonna be over, and life is gonna slap you in the face. And dammit, it's gonna hurt. Popularity means nothing in the real world, hun. My advice to you? Stop worrying about relationships and live your life. Make friends. Hang out. Listen to music your parents don't like. Be a teenager. Don't waste the best years of your life in heartbreak and a popularity competition.
 24. I don't exactly have a boyfriend, but I've gone out with this guy quite a few times, and we're really close. I guess you could kinda consider him my boyfriend, but we're not using those tems yet. Rushing into this junk always turns out bad =/ Anywho, I'm getting him a RUSH t-shirt, a Pac Sun gift card, or a new skateboard possibly. I'm going shopping for him today, so I haven't decided yet >.< I know what he got me, though. His idiot friend couldn't keep his mouth shut. He got me one of those Build-A-Bears (I'm obsessed with stuffed animals). So... That's really sweet
 25.
But I for one love the "Interesting, Most interesting..." ;)
Speak for yourself, it drives me absolutely batty. >.< Tatsubei Yagyu- I think you've been done before, but I don't remember. Meh. I'd have to say you definitely love Rock Lee from Naruto. Yup. Rock Lee's awesome. And you're so cool, you don't even need to explain how cool you are. Lovin the ninja smiley, by the way.
