1.
I appreciate you catching that, but as it is our job, I appreciate you just letting us know in the future. :)
Sure thing. Sorry 'bout that. Anyway, YohsAnna, this is under the assumption that you did, in fact, draw these. Hmm. These are probably some of the best drawings I've seen around here in a while. I like the sketchy feel of the first one, but it gets more smudgy than sketchy around the bottom left corner. What media did you use to make that one? Obviously, since you said 'free-handed' it's not a CG. The second one isn't at all in the style of the first. It's [strike]suspicious[/strike] amazing that you are able to switch from one style to the next while drawing, since real artists generally have ONE distinct style. If you're going to plagerize, honestly, at least do it right. But, on the piece, I'd have to say that (Since I don't much care for Tekei's art in general) this isn't as good as the first one you posted. I don't really like the un-realistic nature of the people. As fan-art though, it's awesome. CG, right? I'm asuming. What program did you use? I'd like to buy it if it's really that great... Anyway, I'd like to see some of the more preliminary scans, (since you obviously have a scanner) and see how you did these, since they're awesome (Seeing as you imitated Tekei's style perfectly) I have one more question, though, why would you spend all that time on that second pic, and then save it as a crappy filetype so that is gets all pixelated and disrorted? I would never be able to live with myself if I accidentally clicked the JPG Opimizer insted of the PNG.
2. ... In denial? She just admitted she was having breakdowns, and she seems perfectly happy otherwise. I really don't think that she's in denial. Anyway, I'm a pretty emotional person (On the inside at least, even if I don't portray it all the time) but it doesn't usually have to do with school. I have had breakdowns in the past, yes, but they were all from problems with my dad/step-dad/etc. I homeschool, but I just recently started doing classes with other juniors/seniors (I'm a junior) and such. I have alot of homework, but I'm pulling through alright. Alot of sleepless nights and stressful mornings. Anyway, I think what you're going through is normal. I don't think you are really depressed or anything, and I definitely don't think you're in denial. Just lack of sleep and an enormous new stress-level thrown at you at one time. You'll get better in no time. Just think happy thoughts, and talk to people. Don't EVER bottle up feelings. It'll just hurt you in the long run. Oh, if you ever need to talk, just send me an IM, PM, emal, etc.
3. I would, but do you have a better quality/bigger pic? Could I use a different (similar) one? That's really just too hard to work with for me, but if you're set on that pic, I'm sure that there's someone who could do it...
4. ACK!!! @@ I accidentally made it 400x100 BEFORE I added the border... Crap... Well, here's one that's the correct size. Sorry 'bout that!
5. Definitely not bad. How old are you? I like the style that you have, it's unique, I must say. There are some things, however, that put these sketches on the 'Meh' listing for me. You have a rather skewed view of proportions. The head on spike looks rather squished, like you were running out of room on the page or something. The Trigun one is rather good. I can't say that I have much to critique about it. Goku has similar proportion and perspective issiues to the first one. The hair looks rather forced, like you were trying so hard to simulate Toriyama's style that you made it look somewhat wierd, to be honest. Still, you have mad potential. Just practice a bit more, okay?
6. Alright, here you go. I didn't take very long on it, so it's not as great as it could be, but... Meh. av- ban- If you'd like anything changed, just let me know.
7. Alright, I've had a pretty non-inspirational month. I've produced pretty much crap. A bunch of my family's been visiting, and that's pretty stressful, and I've had some issiues with my biological father. Meh. I've decided it's time to get out of my rut and try something new. I've done some sprites and pixel-art that I don't really like, but here's my spin on it. Have fun and enjoy. How I did it, step by step- Step 1- Get a scan or crappy pic (prefferably black and white). Step 2- Trace it on a new layer, delete lower layer, fix edges, decrease pallete depth to 2 colors. Step 3- Perfect edges and flood fill basic blocks of color. Step 4- Basic shadows and low-lights. Step 5- Shine in glasses, soften out edges of shadows to make them blend. Now here's how I used my newly-done pic (All brushes done by yours truly)- What do you think? Good? Bad? Ugly?
8. First off, nice work, both of you! But it's time for some serious decision-making. *cracks knuckles* Sun- The colors of the piece are very nice, easy on the eyes for sure. As for the orange/yellow dots, (That underline 'Materialism' and that are randomly placed around the bottom right corner) they look... Slightly a different shade. Quite frankly, it was the first thing I noticed after reading the quote. I don't know if it's just an optical illusion by the contrast of blues that they are up against, but I'd be willing to bet that it would look better if the four on the right were either removed or darkened/made more orange-y. Minor detail, but color-things bug me. The border is nearly perfect, but it isn't as crisp as it should be. It blurs a bit on the two sides on the inside, where there should be a 1 px white/light gray border, it kinda fades away. (Especially on the left side.) I must say, I love how the word 'Materialism' was placed, and how you incorperated it that strongly without shoving it down our throats. Also, since the only things I found 'wrong' with this piece are so minor you don't really even notice them, that's pretty darn good, Sun. Nice job! Ozy- Damn. That border is simply perfect. I have two simple problems with this piece, though. First, there is a blurry spot on the $2 bill. Not a terrible problem, scanners screw things up some, I know. My second problem is shared by Retri and Kitty, I think the topography is a bit awkward. The two different fonts don't really compliment each other as well as they should on this piece. I can't really pick out exactly what's bugging me about it, but it just does seem slightly out-of-place. I love the song, though. I think it might've been better to cut it down some, 'cause it took me longer to read the text than to size-up the piece. The words fit 'Materialism' perfectly, though. My vote must go to Ozymandius. Tough choice, but I think Ozy just worked harder and produced a better piece this time. Had a better flow to it, I think. Nice job, both of you!
9. Sucks. Meh. 'Tis Green Day, teh uberly-hotness.
10.
I also have another problem, i hate drawing women, i just can't stand it, even though i'm a girl myself. I just love to draw males characters instead of female and when it comes down to drawing a girl i don't really enjoy it as much as drawing a guy.
Hm. I'm the exact opposite! I'm better at drawing the curves and shape of a girl rather than a guy. (I am, by the way, a girl) My guys always look rather... Un-proportioned. Anyway, I say you should just draw/ doodle for a few weeks, Lightwing, and find your strengths. Look at other pictures (Simple, like Pokemon or Digimon.) and try to copy them (Not plagerize, just for practice, you know? But DON'T EVER TRACE. Tracing is a horrible crutch, and it's a bad habbit.) Once you get that down, try and find your own unique style. Once you find out what you're good at, you can work on the bad. It's pretty easy, once you get the hang of it. Just don't ever give up!
11. ^ Yeah. They are all in the SAME game at basically the SAME time. They just don't happen to meet up often until the end ^_^
At the very end, you get a few extra missions that you can invite Helba, Tsukasa, Mimiuru, Sora, Crim, etc. into your party to finish, but they don't have much purpose in the actual game play.
The fact that they have quite similar avatars is partially just supposed to be coincidence, like Stark said.
12.
Isn't it funny when you get a lot of views, but ppl are too lazy to type even a simple i like or nice colouring..at least
Typing short, not-constructive-criticism posts are spam, that's why. The link to the rules is on the sidebar at the top, in case you missed it. That picture is hyperlinked from -this site-, for one. Unless that's your site, I think you're in troube ~_^ Also, that pic doesn't belong to her, either. It was drawn by someone else, I know I've seen that pic before. *thinks*
13. Wow, pretty cool. You say your 13? Well, you're not bad. I say by the time you're 16 you'll be amazing, IMO. You need to add some depth to them, though. They all look like simple sketches, so I'm sure that they'd be much better once inked and such, so I can't judge much on the un-detailed quality of them, really. The third one is by far my favorite. I think the pants are nicely done, and his face (the parts of it thet you can see) are pretty good. Keep it up, kid. You're pretty talented.
14.
weblay3.png: As the files named... xD
Hah, yeah... I was screwing around with some stuff for my website. I kinda forgot the wallparer was there when naming the stuff, and just named all the files weblay1, weblay2, weblay3 and so on. I used the same brushes/pics on all of them, so it explains why, lol. -my soon-to-be website- Comments on my new layout would be greatly appreciated ^_^
15. Hello, there! Well... I am sort of that way, too. I would love to help you if you wouldn't mind telling us a bit about the story/characters, love. Is it an action manga? Romance? Perhaps comedy or horror? I've done a bit of storyline-plotting and such, but I never have been quite good enough to illustrate them. Not that I haven't tried, of course. Maybe you could post/pm me some of your charecter bios and the storyline you have so far? Then I'm sure you'd get loads of help from me/Berry/other OtakuBoarders. Well, much luck and all.
16. Hey hey! It's cool that people are actually replying in my thread, lol. I have just a few updates, so without further ado... linkin park- wallpaper- This is just a small version of it so you don't have to bother with a bunch of annoying links... Okay, that's a lie. I forgot to upload it on my site and I did it on photobucket, so I suffered from mass re-sizing, lol. But you get the point ~_^ Anyway... Ratings/crit all welcomed! Edit- Yes, I made all the brushes myself. I've been asked this on other boards I posted these on, so I just figured I'd clear that up.
17. Wow, that is pretty damn awesome, PAche. I just wanted to ask you... How did you make the background? Brushes? Premade brushes? If you did, it's still not bad, but if you didn't, then you fricking rock. Anyway, I do have some critique for you. My first big problem is that the basic colors of the stock don't flow with the background. See the guy's clothes and such? He's kinda peachy looking, and the background is orange/red. Maybe you should have edited the colors on that layer a bit, but I really don't know what else to recomend. *shrugs* It just looks a bit off to me. Also, the text didn't exactly... Do what you wanted it to, did it? I mean, it's just a bit... Pixelated, I quess. It just doesn't have the jagged/gothic look that you'd expect. Hm. Smooth out the pixels on the inner part of his right (to your left) arm. Look closely, you'll probably see what I mean. This also goes for the purple bits in his hair, and the bandage on his other arm. The not perfect-quality of the pic isn't your fault, but that doesn't mean that you can't fix it ~_^ Aside from these VERY minor things, this wallpaper is awesome. Loves it!!! *huggles*
18. Thanks for the reply, PAche! Anyway, I just noticed that I never edited my last post to add in all my web layout-things >.< I looked all over in my picture files, but I couldn't find all those screencaps I made. Anyway, that's dissapointing, but I made a bunch of random splash images! Here ya go... Unity- Behind these Hazel Eyes- Play to Win- (Photobucket resized it, so it looks sorta messy. That's why the borders are fuzzy, please try to ignore that ^_^) Don't lose your way- Basically, I just wanted to see some simple/bright colored things I could do. I also used alot of strait lines. I dunno, but I think that it's not a bad tecnique/thing. Anyway, all crit welcomed!
19.
If you read my post and you are not commenting on the work... Please don't read my post or even look at such great art... If you have nothing to say why even bother? I don't care if you think its nice and great, amazing... Comment say what you like.. I know you have a busy agenda right now but come on? What is 5 minutes? Retri in some way has helped you.. You may not know it. But trust me. If this thread is not full of comments and art I mean.. I just won't bother posting in the boards. Its pointless Retri has helped out the art community with Unofficial Events and Clubs and yet you can't post a simple, I like, I dislike post? Well thats like saying thanks for nothing.
Erm... Wow. I don't think anyone really has any sort of obligation to post in this thread vs any other thread. I personally think that Retri is brilliant, but (since there is NOONE on OB that thinks he's terrible), there is no reason for EVERYONE just to say 'Great work!' to every image he makes. He gets plenty of praise for his brilliance, I assure you. Though each one is brilliant, and Retri has contributed to the Art Studio Thread more than most of us, I don't think all of us should just flock to him to tell him how brilliant he is (Because he REALLY IS.) I've only posted in thread once or twice, when I am particularly touched by his art. When I'm not, I just keep silent. He has enought rabid fangirls, I daresay ~_^ ... I said 'brilliant' more times in those two short paragraphs than I probably have in my whole life. *laughs* 12th- Not without it's charm. Very simplistic (like most of your work), and I obviously love the text/placement. The colors were surely something of an... Odd choice, especially for the given text, but it's nice. It strains my eyes a bit, though, I must say. Anthology Summer 05- A wonderful way to end a wonderful summer. Hats off to you, Retri. And I promise to post more, as long as you promise to update. Edit- IMA, you can't say that noone posts in Retri's thread, 'cause he has 118 posts! That's more than anyone in the whole f**king Art Studio! *Shakes head*
20. I can do a flame-esque font if you wouldn't mind waiting a little bit. It's probably not the font you've seen before, since it is kinda something I screwed around with a bit. Anywho, I'll try and get it done by tonight, if you'd like. edit- Here you go. It didn't take as long as I thought ~_^ av- url-http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/unmei_shinpai/gin2.png size- 150x80 filetype- png ban- url-http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/unmei_shinpai/gin1.png size- 400x80 filetype- png Tell me if you'd like anything changed, okay?
21. Though Who Am I? has already posted, I might as well post the one I made =/ av- ban- You like? I can make one with the band insted of the cover-thing, if you'd like. I just thought that looked kinda snazzy. edit- ACK! I forgot to put your name on the avi =/ *Goes to fix*
22. Zhara, that last one is Just. Simply. Amazing. The borders match perfectly, the image is superb and (somewhat) crisp... Lovely! I have an (ever so slight) beef with this, though. Why are all of your borders plain black? I mean... I few would look nice if they matched the pictures. This one? Back is perfect. I think (If it were me) I may have gone with a dark gray, rather. But that's just me. I'd also comment on the text if I didn't suspect that it was simply cropped out of the original image... If you texted it too, than that's simply amazing. I've spent alot of time in Paint (And still do, as a matter of fact) and I know haw difficult it is to work with (And how unforgiving the tools are >.
23. ^ Agreed. Gwen can do whatever the hell she wants. I find her a brilliant musician who excells in more styles of music than most. Holla Back is a bit more... Pointless than music I usually listen to, but I genuinely like most of her music. Even Holla Back really has it's charm... To some degree. What I think is unhealthy is how everyone obseses about famous people. They already have plenty of people judging thier every move, and they're just people, REALLY. Get over it ~_^
24. I started getting on the internet when I was 7. About a year after I moved to GA and realized that all my friends didn't like me =/ I loved Neopets.com. I had an anime guild. I loved that guild more that anything, and being the leader of it forced me to make graphics (In MSPaint) and layouts for it. By the age of nine, I was an HTML whiz and was posting threads on Neopets like 'I make FREE websites and layouts!!! Just neomail me!!!' and the like. I never really had a website of my own, merely because I couldn't figure out if I wanted it to be forums-related, graphics related, video game related, etc. I didn't want more that one site, because I wouldn't be able to keep up with that. (I had a VERY limited time on the internet...) Soooo... Yeah. After about 6 months of my inbox being full of requests (Which I LOVED, but it was time consuming) I had to resign, as it was taking up most of my free time better spent studying. Now I've just become lazy, and I don't remember half of the stuff I'd learned back then... *sigh*
25. I'm a musician, martial artist, graphic designer (Psssh... Right) and aspiring manga artist. I suppose I can write, I just need a good enough topic. I am much better at simply making detailed descriptions of characters and inserting them into a specific scenario. Why whould that not be considered writing, you say? Because... Well... Anything I do lacks plot and depth. Everything is just a detailed description of a given situation. So I have leaned to the 'Comic'-esque side of writing. I do sketches and things to go along with my ideas, and the creative juices start flowing! Though both my writing and art lacks the fine tuning it so deserves, I am getting better. I am going for my Advanced Red Belt in traditional American Karate tomorrow. Wish me luck! (I am also a Red Belt in Tang-So-Do, a Korean Martial Arts style.) This is my most prominent creative outlet, as it's the only thing I am confident in. I play both the guitar and keyboard. I am much better at playing the keyboard, but it has always been my dream to play guitar in a band. Don't ask me why, I haven't the slightest clue. I enjoy making graphix in my beloved PSP7, but alas, I am not all too skilled at the fine art that is Graphics Making. =/ Also, I consider myself a fair playwrite. When I get the inspiration...
