Does anyone believe in love at first sight???
sakurasuka replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
Actually, though Allamorph did shine a different light on the subject, I don't particularly agree with it because it all depends on each person's opinion on the definition of love. You pass by thousands of people every day, and you don't immediately fall in love with them. And even if a person catches your eye, or if you feel a connection the first time you meet, that is not love. I believe most consider it attraction, or chemistry. You can be head-over-heels infatuated with a person's outer appearance and mistake that for love. So if your definition of love is a positive bond between two people, then it happens everyday. But if your definition of love is a deep physical, spiritual, and emotional bond formed on a foundation of trust and loyalty, then love at first sight is impossible. For all you know, the person you are 'in love with' is a lying creep. -
Name: Cyra Aphrodite. Age: 23. Personality: Secretive and moody. She can also be deceptive and extremely cunning. Appearance: Cyra (quick sketch) is a half-woman, half-snake. Her skin is mottled and has snakelike-insignias, as well as groupings of snake scales, predominantly on her back. When she dresses in normal attire, the only distinguishing marks are her teeth and her slit-pupils. These are easily hidden. For this reason, she is the perfect spy. For the past few months, I've been a lurker. I've posted a few times this week, though. Hoorah. First, I read new posts in the Amphitheater. After that I mosey on over the the Arcade. Then I waste the rest of my life in the Lounge. I used to go the the Art Studio and Anime Central and bum around, but I haven't really had much time lately. I take a shower. Either extremely cold, or extremely hot. This really wakes me up both physically and mentally. Another thing is to drink some coffee. Not too much or you'll crash an feel worse than before. I drink a cup or two and watch an episode of some brainless television show or listen to some music until the caffeine kicks in before getting on with my work.
[*]Crafting Professions : More intricate crafting professions, and things such as traders. Besides the typical blacksmith. [*]Classes for Non-fighters: This sounds silly, but SWG pulled this off well with their classes of musician and dancer. They buffed people but it suited well for those not well-equipped for fighting. Not everyone is a fighter and it would be nice to have some 'normal' people walking about. It would make your skills seem more unique possibly.
Basically more things for the Economy and Player society would be added. That's basically it. That and I don't believe in the ultimate goal of gaming to be "to get the best gear" but that could also be an option for someone else.
Sounds like you should try playing Mabinogi. I played on the Beta version and it was a breath of fresh air. The quests can be tedious sometimes, but I loved that you could play as a musician, or shear sheep to make wool, or other oddball jobs. I also like that your character ages, and his/her appearance and stats (Strength, agility, etc.) are based upon how you 'live' and what you 'eat'. Though I accidentally hit the keyboard command for 'eat' instead of 'attack' repeatedly, and my character got fat. Plus it's online and free. Score. Though if I were to make a game, I really would enjoy an RPG based almost entirely on building your character and inter-character relationships. There wouldn't be 'levels', but rather points in different levels of expertise depending on what you wanted to be good at. Plus I'd like unique skills or races/classes. Maybe there wouldn't even be classes, but just degrees of experience in a certain area. Maybe you could excel in more than one 'Job' or 'Class'. I dunno. I just think that killing things to level up and find/buy armor has become stale.

Pokemon Red: The first GameBoy Game I ever bought. I never completed the Pokedex because I never actually owned Yellow or Blue. My brother did, but he was a douchebag as a kid and wouldn't trade with me. Pokemon Silver: I broke the 400 hour mark with this game. I still play it. One of the greatest games ever created. Pokemon Sapphire: Sure, Crystal was great, but it was just Silver and Gold with a girl character. Sapphire and Ruby had so many new features, shadows and reflections, new Pokemon, new gyms, a new rival, and the addition of Pokemon contests! Oh man, this game rocked. Ocarina of Time: The only person who played this game more often than me must have been my litte brother. Mario Kart 64: I definitely pwn at battle. On BlockFort. Oh yes. Super Mario 64: I watched a video on YouTube of someone who beat it in 21 minutes and 38 seconds with only 16 stars. Insane. Super Smash Bros. Melee: My neighborhood would have SSB tournaments every weekend. I always beat everyone. Except my little brother. Maple Story: And online game my brother and I play quite often. I can't be sure that we've played more than 100 hours since there's no way to calculate, but I'm fairly certain. Fun game, and it's free. Everyone should play, if you like that kind of thing.

I can't wait to buy it. Mario Kart 64 has always been my favorte game, and Double Dash has always been up there on my list. Though I don't think I'll be buying the Wheel, as adorable as it may be. The Gamecube controller is a personal favorite.

The manager should be fired. It is his job to ensure that this doesn't happen. I work with my significant other, but we are both on the same level in management positions. We supervise different shifts, so we have never had problems. Public displays of affection are also strictly forbidden where I work, so that has never been an issue either. Can you speak to anyone higher up about this problem? You should not have to suffer because of someone else's inability to keep the workplace a proffesional place of business.

I can relate. I maintained a 4.0 all throughout high school. I never made anything less than an A. I took the SAT when I was fifteen and did extremely well, I nearly recieved a perfect score on the math portion. I graduated when I was sixteen years old, and I had applied to twelve different schools during my senior year. I was denied at every school except for my very last resort. I was even denied at my 'Safety schools'. This had nothing to do with my grades or SAT scores, it had to do with the fact that I was homeschooled during my senior year. Sad? Sure. Am I pretty upset about it? Yeah. But I'm currently attending Brenau University, and I'm content. I plan on transfering to Savannah College of Art and Design in my Junior year. Lunox, if it makes you feel better, I couldn't even get into UGA or Gainesville State.

The people that I would miss have already long left OB. Or else they just don't post very often. I haven't really befriended many of the newest members, since college and work demands so much of my time. Though I suppose I'll be more active in the coming summer months.

What time do you usually go to sleep at?
sakurasuka replied to Ellerby's topic in General Discussion
On weekdays I go to bed around two in the morning after I get home from work and wake up at six. I wish I could sleep in, but I have to commute to school every morning. Saturdays I get up a five in the morning to go to work. I get off a two, and I spend time with my boyfriend and do homework. I usually go to bed around midnight. Sundays I get up at six to carpool with my boyfriend to church. He has band practice in the morning (He plays bass in the Worship Band), and I teach Sunday School. I get home around one or two and do homework. Depending upon how much I have to do, I go to bed between ten and four. -
The13thMan, I'm sorry, but wouldn't your beloved Darwin himself categorize those examples as proof of micro-evolution? I doubt that anyone will debate that the possibility of adaptation within species isn't an impossibility. I still stand by my argument that there is simply no irrefutable proof of either creation of evolution.

I'm going to warn you that starting this thread off by calling Creationists "iodiots" will get you nothing more or less than a flame-war. I reccomend you reconsider your choice of wording. Not to mention the irony of calling into question a person's intellegence in the midst of a completely incoherent post. But I digress. Please throw away the notion that "Creation vs Evolution" means the same thing as "Religion vs Science". There is about as much scientific evidence for each side. The only difference is that one side chooses to believe that we were designed, and one side chooses to believe that we happened. Niether side has an ironclad argument, and niether side is without holes in their theories. There is nothing that we as humans can do to prove or disprove the existance of a God or a Creator. There is also a timeline-dispute that does not fall in line with the readings of modern-day science. There is also no scientific evidence in the possibility of the successful reconstruction of DNA in order to support/disprove evolution. The only evience of this is in small mutations of genetic makeup that generally cause disabilies and genetic malfunction, not an evolutionary stepping-stone. The only logical idea is to realize that neither theory has substantial evidence, and that both are likely wrong.
Okay, so answering the prompt is against the rules? I gave you the truth the whole rtuth and nothing but it. I think I even did better than diong 'your mom' lol. Seriously, I'm taking offense to this post. I say YOU shouldn't be allowed to post anymore lame questionairres in the lounge. Since it doesn't promote discussion, IT'S not necessary nor wanted.
Seconded. I see no reason that Deus' post is any more unneccesary than the original questionaire (Or entire first post, rather). Your questions left no room for conversational replies. The general idea of this forum is to create conversation, something you have utterly killed in this thread by both insulting the validity of those answering your questions, and also not being involved in the conversation yourself. You are a member rather than a new member, are you not? Why can you not answer your own questions? Why are you researching? What does OtakuBoards do for YOU? Be involved in your own conversation, or don't post. On the topic of the questionaire. As for myself, I think that there are nearly as many people who frequent the boards who dislike anime as those who like it. There is no paricular gathering of similar-minded people. Edit: Heaven's Cloud, I love you.
1984 by George Orwell.
[strike]Seconded[/strike]. [strike]Thirded[/strike]. Agreed. I had to do a similar project in my Intro to Graphic Design class. I did two different ideas, one was called Deadbeat Club, and the other Rockstar. They are both based off of songs, though I'm not sure if this is within your parameters. Deadbeat Club is a song by the B-52's, and I illustrated it with a large image of Kieth Strickland. My tagline was 'Let's go crash that party down in Normaltown tonight", which is a line from the song. The "movie" starred all of the members of the B-52's. I went with a similar idea on Rockstar, which was illustrated with a three-member band using my own personal characters. It was based off of the Nickelback song, I wanna be a rockstar. I also used the line "We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat" as my tagline. Using music as the jumping point can be successful, though my ideas weren't the best they could be. But I definitely like the idea of a 1984 poster.
I think some of the banners said things like. *thank god for dead soldiers* *soldiers in Iraq deserve death* and other things like that
Yes, and it would not be illogical to come to that conclusion at all, but war doesn't have anything to do with it. I honestly don't understand how WBC connected soldiers dying to the fact that 'God hates fags' in the first place, because it doesn't even make the slightest bit of sense. It also bothers me that they are using hateful language in thier protests. If they were merely protesting to 'get the word out', then I would just call them crazies. But the way they are de-humanizing people is nothing short of painful psychological attacks on another person's character. So this makes them not only nutters, but also terrorists. I wonder how long this will be allowed to continue.

Do i agree with the war? no, but am i going to protest the dead? OH HELL NO!
The Westboro Baptist Church is not concerned with war, nor is war the root of the protests. Allow me to reiterate? Westboro Baptist Church believes that they are God's 'Chosen People', and that noone who is not predestined by God for heaven can be saved. Thier only motive is to spread the word that "God hates Fags" and that America, by allowing rights to homosexuals in certain states and degrees, is going against God's word. Therefore, by association, we can assume that God hates America because God hates homosexuals, and America condones homosexuality. WBC thinks that God is killing soldiers to punish America for the actions of homosexuals and the view of homosexuals by Americans. *The above is not the beliefs of the poster, but is a paraphrase of the ideals of Westboro Baptist Church and its members, led by Fred Phelps* And don't even get me started on Prussian Blue.

I have a very broad view on what could be considered cheating. I dissagree with you about the point that you should do the same around your spouse as when you're not around them, though. I think that you should do better. I love my boyfriend and trust him very much, but we're not stupid people. Having an affair isn't neccesarily about making a concious mistake, it's about being in situation where difficulties can arise. Cheating happens when you are not actively avoiding physical contact and shady situations with members of the opposite (Or same, I suppose) sex. Therefore, if I were to hug another man while not in the presence of my boyfriend, I would not be actively avoiding getting into a bad situation. But every person has a different idea on what constitutes cheating. I think that the worst kind of cheating is mental rather than physical, though. Just a thought.

Emos, Preps and the Whole Clique team
sakurasuka replied to Aberinkula's topic in General Discussion
*Laughs at Gunslinger* Ah, how I wish I went to public school. The petty dramas, the name-calling, the grouping by stereotypes. I sure missed out. -
I agree, in some respects, with Retribution. America most definitely needs to be wary of banning the right to protest on public propery, but I think that protecting the families of deceased soldiers is far more important than WBC's right to bash homosexuality. Also, the argument that they are making has nothing at all to do with the funerals of the soldiers. If they were protesting at any sort of government establishment then I would understand, but all they are trying to do is cause hate, distress, and disorder. Though this has little to do with the argument, I found some chilling quotes on Wikipedia. It scares me that anyone would be a follower of a lunatic who utters such nonsense.
"America is doomed and cursed by God irreversibly". "It's too late to pray for America. It's a sin to pray for America". "Hurricane Rita is an answer to the prayers of the suffering saints of Westboro Baptist Church". "The Lord God Almighty killed [the people who died on 9/11], looked at them in the face, laughed and mocked at each one of them as he cast each one of them into hell". "Nobody that's intelligent and that fears God will fly the American flag any way but upside-down, the international symbol of distress". "All ye having business before this honorable [Supreme] Court draw nigh, give your attention and ye shall be heard. No, no. Draw nigh and bend over. They're gonna rape you up the butt". "The President of the United States gets his jollies masturbating horses". (This was a reference to a joke told by Laura Bush about her husband's attempt to milk a male horse). "The hell with your flag. The hell with your *** army, your *** courts, your ***-run government". "This is the hypocritical, ***-infested, ***-run United States of America and we're supposed to respect that *** rag flag?" "The red on that flag stands for *** rectal blood". "On Pope John Paul II's watch, the Roman Catholic Church became the church of the holy pedophiles. And sodomite feces replaced the wafer for their communion service. And Sodomite semen replaced the wine that the Pope drinks". "1.07 billion members of that monstrous machine called the Roman Catholic Church. Every last one of them going to hell". "You tweaked His nose, you jackass!" (Referring to George W. Bush.) "You're gonna eat your babies!" (In reference to Deuteronomy 28:53.)
He also believes that the members of his church are the majority of the only few 'elected by God' to be allowed into heaven, and that anyone who does not agree with them and aid the protests claiming "God Hates America and God Hates Fags" is going to hell. They are obviously choosing to ignore that lovely bit in the Bible that states that "God hates sin, not the sinner." These sort of wacked-out morons are the reason that most people see Christians in a bad light. Back on subject. I, essentially, agree with the banning of protests at funerals. I also think that Phelps getting sued for all he's worth isn't a bad idea.
I actually kind of enjoy the idea that I might be channeling Satan through my penis. Maybe I can shoot demons out of it and possess people. ...wait, isn't that kind of like getting a girl pregnant? XD zing...
Marry me. Kidding. But in all seriousness, to those who look down upon the ones who masturbate for religious reasons, it should be understood that not all members of this forum practice said religion. It is also a matter of opinion whether or not self-pleasure even truly qualifies as lust, for one usually pictures physical lust as a sexual desire for another being, not one's own appendage. In a nutshell, a person may or may not think that masturbation is spiritually healthy, but there is little argument against it. Aside from spiritual constraints, there is absolutely nothing wrong with self-pleasure. Not nearly as much physical benefits as intercourse, nor is it as (presumably) satisfying, but I digress.

This may sound like a rather stupid question, but I figured I'd ask anyhow. Many months ago, I linked myOtaku account to my OtakuBoards account. I never actually logged on to the former, nor was it put to any use. I just never had the time. So, incidentally, I still have the "MyOtaku Last Updated: NEVER" under my title. It's not a major deal that it is there, but I was just curious if it could be removed, since it's not being put to any use. I'm assuming I have to go to MyOtaku un-link the said accounts, but if I have to log in, it may be a lost cause as I no longer frequent the email account I believe I used, nor did I keep a record of the password I decided upon. Come to think of it, if I did not use sakurasuka as my username, I may be lacking that particular tidbit of information as well. Or maybe I can do it from OtakuBoards and I'm just extremely stupid. Shores of California by the Dresden Dolls is a song that has recently tickled my fancy, though Amanda Palmer has long been my hero anyhow. So this isn't particularly news. Incidentally, I am actually listening to this as I type. Though a band I've been introduced to and find quite nice is Oomph!. I don't know much about them having just heard of them two days ago, but I assure you they've got an amazing sound. And then there is The Who, whom I have also been listening to much more frequently then normal. If that is possible.
