1.
Earlier today I was was shocked, though, as I looked up a band name and it ACTUALLY didn't have it. [/mildly disappointed]
If you know enough about them to, start a page yourself [; Though, I'm assuming you don't, since you were looking on Wikipedia for them in the first place =/ But yeah, Wiki is awesome. Good time-waster, if nothing else.
2. Old. There are some pretty good new bands, addmitedly. But honestly? It doesn't get much better than the oldies. Problem? None of my old favorites can be found on Yahoo! Music Jukebox or anything legal. So it is harder to listen to Dexy's Midnight Runners or the Bee Gees than, say, Coheed and Cambria or Panic! At the Disco. How I miss Napster.
3. SoaD is alright. Toxicity is brilliant, and I'm absolutely in love with the lyrics. They have a rather unique sound, but really, other than that, they're nothing superb. Nice band, though. As for your other thread, r2vq already explained that to you. So as not to appear to be playing 'mod', I'll just take my leave now.
4. Braselton fuh-duck-ing sucks. There are no attractions. No malls. Nowhere to shop. Nowhere to go. The closest anything is the Mall of Georgia, a few cities over. And the Kroger. Heh.
5.
Better question: A tree falls on a mime in a forest and no one's around to hear it. Does anyone care?[/SIZE']
Briefly: the question is asking whether "a mime"- and in the long run not just the mime, but also the tree, the falling, the woods, and the question "if a tree falls in the woods..." itself - in some way *requires* someone like a human being other than the mime (someone that can "experience") in order to take place. I don't think it's a question about whether the mime is "subjective" or "objective" (the trouble is that both of those finally end up assuming the other), and I think we end up screwing ourselves over when we ask it like that. We need to consider whether the mime might be something other than the apprehension of an objective sensory experience by a subject (which is itself a certain special kind of object). The classic Buddhist answer would probably be something like: "He's a f&$%ing mime, who cares?" Of course, we in the know understand that this kind of answer is a lot of spiritual bull that is at best only useful for making you feel good about yourself, and at worst amounts to solipsism and nihilism. Actually, why are we even considering questions like this at all? What use do they have? It's confusing and depressing, and we might as well not worry about these kinds of things if they're not going to serve any useful purpose, right? Sorry Fasterisk, couldn't resist.
6. Motherf%$&ing typos. Ah, well. I don't think I'm allowed to fix it. Plus you can't save with layers in Paint =P
7. I put up a new image. Took for freaking ever. So it turns out PhotoImpact isn't that terrible a program. But I'm not at all comforable with it. So my piece is still well below all the others. But I'm proud of it anyways. Oh yeah, Toy Box is awesome, by the way.
8.
So I guess the question is if there is any consideration given to originality?
Erm. I actually didn't see anyone else's until I posted mine. It's odd, really. I made that piece with a mix of [limited] PhotoImpact and MS Paint, due to my current lack of PSP. I wasn't going to say anything, because I REALLY don't want that taken into consideration when voting, but I feel compelled to explain. I've been on no internet/dial-up the past week. I don't have my computer. My internet doesn't want to work. So meh. I'm sorry I 'copied', and I will sincerely try and see what else I can squeeze out of Paint by tomorrow morning, if you could please be patient. And. Meh. Freedom just goes with flying objects. So I guess that's just what we all thought of. Meeeeh.
9. Editnessrawr- Butterfly05- So meh. PhotoImpact+MS Paint sucks major arse. Ah, well. I like it.
10. Simply disgusting, Derald. That'll haunt me for a while, kiddo.
So, has anyone ever had a "best" barfing experience?[/size']
Yup. I spun around too fast in my computer chair when I was ten. I felt a bit sick, and threw up in the sink. Mom thought I was sick and I got to stay home from school and watch TV all day. As for worst, it had to be in the Publix Pharmacy. I was seven. My brother was five. My brother, mother, and I were all sick. Extremely sick. Like, could barely move, worst-sickness-I-ever-felt-in-my-life kind of sick. We were at Publix getting medication. Well. As we were going down the aisle, me and my brother sitting in the cart, I threw up. Right there. In Publix. My brother, having the worst gag-reflex in history, started throwing up as well. And then I couldn't stop throwing up. And every time he'd look at me, he'd throw up too. So there we are. Standing in publix. Two kids spewing uncontrollably, and mom having absolutely no clue what to do. That was a bad day.
11. Strangely enough, I happen to hate the majority of the people mentioned in this thread. With the exceptions of Hugh Laurie and Liv Tyler. And of course, Jack Black. That sexy man beast. Jennifer Aniston Beautiful. Just beautiful. And I absolutely love how she plays her role in Friends. Dunno that anyone but her could pull off the whole Ross/Joey thing in the ninth/tenth season without looking indecisive and whore-ish, but she manages quite well. Julia Roberts Wonderful in Mona Lisa Smile, even better in Notting Hill. Gorgeous. But sort of an.. Unconventional sort of beauty. Hugh Grant The sexiest man alive. Hands-down. Simply amazing.
12.
I really like the idea for this manga, and I really can't wait to see what you do with it. Now I'm just throwing names around here, but why don't you just name the forum "Picture This." Heh. ;) [/FONT']
White ish t3h smrtr than JayCee =/ Anywho, I finished two of the characters. Actually, I finshed them all, but my scanner is being extremely retarded and randomly started making copies of Aries rather than scanning her. I couldn't make it stop, so I had to shut it off. It was wasting all the black ink >____< Kiah Brent Crappy drawings, I know, but I wanted to see if you guys thought they matched thier personalities. Meh.
13. Anyone except me notice the crappy options at the top? I despise diet sodas in general. If I'm going to go ahead and put crappy stuff in my body, I might as well go all the way and have it taste at least mildly pleasant. I hate coke. With a passion. Pepsi is tolerable, but I hate the after-taste. That being said, I also hate any of the 'Cherry-Vanilla-Blackberry-a-million-other-things-that-don't belong-in-coke-drinks'. Sprite is alright, but I preffer water. I do love Dr. Pepper, though. And Orange, Grape, and Strawberry Fanta. All-in-all, I like most things with a citrus or fruity flavor.
14. What year did you graduate from High School? 2007. Not quite yet. What "clique" did you belong to? I didn't. Never had 'friends' aside from my neighbor and little brother. Do you still remember your friends, do you still keep in touch? We're still.. Neighbors. What state/province/country did you graduate from? Jackson County. Worst school in the history of schools. That's why I homeschool. Do you remember your high school enemy? All of them are enemies. Except a few people from classes. And it doesn't help that I've just lost the one person I used to talk to at work. Now he hates me like everyone else =D High school sucks. Especially for a fifteen year old 'nerdy' homeschooled kid in hicksville with a crappy job, no friends, and a buttload of people that hate my guts and want me dead. Meh.
15.
If you're a little confused, go back and reread the part of my first post where I talk about the belief/certainty distinction.
Hm. You do tend to a bit long-winded, sorry I misunderstood you. Also, I think you are putting too much wieght on 'knowledge' rather than 'belief', which is why what you say rubs my the wrong way. And the idea of God, to most, is a philisophical concept.
16. Fasteriskhead. I understand what you are saying, but I don't completely agree. You specifically said religion is not about believing. That's not true. Belief and faith is the entire point. Well. I believe there is a God. I have not seen Him with my own eyes, so there is no way I can say I KNOW there is a God. Well, I could, but it would be a lie. Noone 'knows' or else there would only be one religion. So we say we believe such-and-such. And besides, we know our hands don't dissapear when we look away because other people still see them. Edit- Indifference beat me to it >_>
17. Possible manga idea. The name would, of course, be Picture This. I have basic character layouts. I would scan them on, had my mother not decided to 'help' me by drawing Bart-Simpson hair on all of them. 'It's alright, you do about twenty versions before you're satisfied anyway.' Be that as it may, I'm still slightly perturbed. My idea is a view of life through the eyes of six teenagers and young adults, ranging from 15-21. All six live in different parts of the world, in different levels of society from poverty to upper-class. The six have absolutely nothing in common. Or so it would seem. All are artists. Different types of artists. From photographers to musicians. All different personallities, all different lifestyles. The only similarity is thier love and eye for beauty. And the online forum they all frequent. I have yet to decide on a name for the forum, but this is the supposed 'meeting place' for the six artists. I actually got the idea from another forum I'm a part of. All of my friends there live on entirely different continents, so it would be rather fun to focus on the diversity of the countries, I think. An eye-opener. Also, a main focus will be on how different the characters act online and off. So, once I get more of the story written, please take note. Female characters. Aries Norden- American. Perfectionist. 'Typical' shy girl. Was born in Chicago, now lives in New York City. Though there is no set 'main character', I plan on having her be the one with the most typical problems of teenager-dom to make her more relateable. As the story goes on, her character will progress from a friend-less girl trying to get people to like her, to her own person. She's sixteen, and she's a photographer. Hence the title. Lissa Neimi- A young Finnish girl, only ninteen. She considers herself a canvas, and wears unique and obnoxious clothing to accentuate her style. Her hairstyle changes nearly every day. Flirtatious and outgoing, she tends to get her heart broken quite often. Also, she doesn't place 'love' and 'gender' in two different categories, making her technically bisexual, though she despises the term. Kiah Anderson- Austrailian musician. Age twenty. Used to be in a band, but the other members 'grew up and got real jobs'. Her music has become her only outlet. Male characters. Brent Hadfield- English. Age twenty-one. Is both the designer and most frequent visitor of -insert forum name here-. Graphic designer and writer. Brilliant and creative, his work is often shuned and censored due to his un-apologetic attitude and horrendous use of sexual themes and colorful language to describe society. Drake Larson- American. Resides in Tuscon, Arizona. Sketch-artist and poet. Upon first glance, is is difficult to tell his gender, due to his long hair and feminine features. He tends to be somewhat dark, and doesn't have any friends. Not that he doesn't want them, that's just how it turned out. It's difficult for a fifteen year old. Sometimes he even questions himself. Vitaly Marisova- Russian painter. Preffering abstract ideas and nature themes as opposed to living subjects, he tends to be somewhat of a loner. Quite secretive, there won't be a whole lot of story development on him until later on. Age eighteen. I actually am going to pursue this idea, I believe. The goal I hope to acheive by this is to have each artist portray a message and spark an interest in art. Originality[Lissa], Pride[Drake], Anti-Censorship[Brent], Anti-Conformist[Kiah], Creativity[Vitaly], and Fearlessness[Aries]. If anything, I believe it will be fun. Especially Brent, Lissa, and Drake. How they relate to the world and such. What I need from you guys, if possible, is A) Possible names for the Artist Forum. B) Maybe help me out a little more with thier personalities? C) I've done some research on the countries they live in, but a little more help in that area would be nice. Plus some feedback on the idea itself would be very helpful. Thanks.
18.
And so the chance remains that you as well are misinterpreting Spiritual matters as you go your own way.
True, but then I'm making my own mistakes, not someone elses. And I alone will be responsible for them. Rather than, when at Heaven's Gate, repeating the 'But that's what I was taught!' mantra.
19.
I think ChibiHorseWoman and I has just lit one of the largest flame fields in forum history. :nervous:
Yes, it's all Chibi's fault. Kidding, of course. Gah. I must say, since there is absolutely no irreputable proof either way, no side can ever be proven. So why even debate it? It's been done to death. So meh.
20. I love God. I hate religion. I have extremely odd beliefs about Judgement Day, some losely related to some Pagan theories. But the majority of what I believe goes hand-in-hand with Christianity. But I am in no way a Christian. But here's the thing. I don't read the bible [anymore]. I see it as simply another book on religious threories written by men. Men make mistakes. Men sin. So there are inevitably mistakes and purpose misinterpretations in the Bible. I'm not one to get heated in this kind of thread anymore. I'm much more set in my beliefs, much more comfortable and open to new ideas. I specifically remember a thread on Religion not too far back that ended up getting closed, after much heated discussion of Creation vs. Evolution, and much sakurasuka making an un-educated arse of herself. So, please, guys, let's not turn this into another 'Evolution versus Creation' thread.
21. Claim't. Be back in a few. Edit- Heck yes. I tried to be as simplistic as possible. Clicketh. You know you're jelous of the pwnage kitten-dude. [:
22.
I would like to thank all those who in any way came to my defence.
Looks as though they needn't do so, you're quite capable of debating, as you've already proven. My problem is not with you. You seem like a relatively smart person. I understand and see why you think the way you do, but I don't agree with it. I can't accept it. No more analogies. Anyone can, at any time, pull out an analogy to support thier side of any particular issue, no matter what the issue or analogy. My point is, it's people like you that are holding us back. This isn't meant to be a personal attack, so try not to take it as such. People that take things on looks alone. You have other 'reasons' or 'ideals' that you use to dignify and accentuate your beliefs, but they're all hollow. You're just like the sick bastard that dumped me because I don't have a barbie doll figure. Race. It means nothing. We should throw it all away. But you make that impossible. It's sad.
23. Aw. Starfire. That's sweet. Just let it take you wherever it takes you, I mean, he obviously thinks you're pretty great. But meh. I know I love my guy. I guess I have all along, I've just been to thick to realize it. [:
24.
Blast, lost again thanks to an early morning conversation with Bill. Makes 5 losses for me.
Damn. Just five? I lose at least every half hour. Okay. Whenever me and my friend have nothing to talk about, he randomly says something like 'So.. Wanna talk about trains?' and that's when I told him about the game. So now, whenever he says 'So..' I think trains. And then the Game. So it's impossible to talk to him. Whenever we see each other, we're just like 'I lose.'
25. I'll hover over the link. If it's a thread here on OB, I'll have seen it already. There isn't a thread that goes by [Perhaps some in the Anthology and Anime Lounge, but meh] that I don't see. If it's thier site, I may or may not check it out. Depends on the person. MySpace links always get a click. Sometimes even an add. I don't visit very often anymore, but it's fun to see what someone you've been associating with for years looks like. So meh. I'm right in the middle.
