Ultimate favorite classic rock band...RUSH. They've been making music for 30 years, their older stuff is still relevant and their newer stuff rocks. Geddy Lee is hands down the best bassist in rock, and he can sing too...he must have sold his soul to satan. I can't imagine a better drummer than Neil Peart and while Alex doesn't write lyrics or sing, I can't think of what the band would be like without his guitar playing and rapport with the guys.
Those are just some of the reasons they're my all time favorite band as well, I even met them this past August before the concert.

Except for Creedence and the Ramones, I like all the bands on the list. But top my favorities, who aren't on the list, have to Rush, U2, Journey and The Eagles.

I'm a murderer, are you one too?
DetectiveMikeRS replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I never made road kill since I don't drive but I did kill a baby mouse accidently when I stood up outside one summer and stepped on it. -
If anyone has seen Manos: The Hands of Fate (most likely the Myster Science Theater version) then you know of Torgo. I was him for Halloween to scare kids that came to my house after my dad made a maze. I had a brown jacket and gloves on (the gloves due to the cold), a dead branch that fell off a tree for my walking stick, kaiki pants and my dad's old Indiana Jones hat. I burned a cork from a wine bottle and used the ash to make a beard since I coudlnt' grow once because I'd need to grow it for a while and facial hair is against my school's rules. I was also The Mad Hatter from American McGee's Alice (with Tom Petty aspects from the Don't Come Around Here No More video) I was also Duke Nukem many years ago when I still trick or treated.

Oreos represent the unity of mankind regardless of skin color, or that's the black and white cookie according to Sienfeld.
Each book that you specifically listed except for Harry Potter all teach you a lesson. I mean...Fahrenheight 451 teaches you to think about stuff more closely, and question whether or not certain rules are good. I don't really know why anyone would want to ban Huck Finn. It was just written at that time period. Classics should not be banned, nor should Harry Potter. Harry Potter is just a story, and if you are not old even to realize that, you shouldn't read it. If you don't like the books either, there's no stopping you to just not read the book, and leave well enough alone. As for the health books, I can certainly understand why they should be banned. They are pretty erotic for young people, especially for pre teens and teen agers.
Tolkein said his Lord of the Rings series is filled with Cristian morals and beliefs (I had to do a paper on it for my religion class at my private high school, he even said in an interview long ago that it was a Christian moral tale). They're probably banning that because of the "evil" such as magic and fantasy. But the Christian aspect may be a case too. But people have to learn that great moral values can be found in the books, not on TV. And some of them are just stories! It's no big deal! I wonder if these people would treat Homer that way if they lived in his era as he traveled the land telling the tales of The Illiad and The Odyssey...

I play bass (main influence is Geddy Lee of Rush, even met him before) I can also play guitar (classical), piano (jazz, blues, classical), autoharp, harmonica, flute, and I can sing and write all my own songs with music.
I play the guitar(and ukelele, and keyboard, and vocals). Never, ever,EVER,do tabs if you want to be a serious guitar player.Always start with the basics.Learn the strings.Learn the notes on the strings.Learn the simplified chords.Learn the power chords. Then learn whatever you haven't learned yet. Then you will be truly good grasshopper, and ready to knock elbows with the likes of Jimmy Page.
Yes avoid tabs at all costs. I learned notation before and it's much easier than tabs in my opinion and tabs can get addictive (my guitarist can only read those) and if you want a career in music sight reading is a must. Books for dummies are good but official lessons are the best. I primarily play bass guitar, keyboard, and vocals. But I'm a guiarist as a hobbyist. (In addition to harmonica, flute, and autoharp)

I've never played Grand Theft Auto, but I think it's not overrated by gaming magazines or stores as much as other games, but by the news due to it's contraversial gameplay. It was even banned in some countries.

I liked Starfox Adventures, which was well overrated. But I hated the searching for odd items just so you can get another item so you can enter a level for another item to get a spirit. I only have 1 spirit, and I'm about 65% done with the game, then button mashing mini games (which I'm no good at) get in the way.

The battle against General Mohc in the first Dark Forces. I tried several times and died each time, I'd run to get more ground and before I knew it, a volly of missiles were on me and I was on the floor dead. The Jedi Knight ones have some awesome battles as well, more inovative too with the smarter AI and force powers. Then when he finally fell after many tries and lost lives later, it was one triumphant moment. I loved the battle agaisnt Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time as well, the music in that fight is awesome too.

My favorite keychain is one from a Rush concert I saw (my dad got me one and the band gave me one in additoin to a ton of other cool stuff when I met them) it's thier name (Rush) written in a cool way and has two other tags that say R 30 and Since 1974. It's the only one I use now. [I met the band because my mom sent them a note about a tragedy in our lives and they gave me VIP frontrow tickets upgraded from my backrow ones, Neil's used and signed drumsticks, Alex and Geddy's used and signed picks, 2 shirts, a flashing body pin, the keychain, an autographed picture, a postcard and a poster.]
Uh, maybe we should just take a freaking chill pill and remember that this is a commercial. A commercial. I'm sure this will be front line news tomorrow. The point is so painfully simple: if you were a friend and you're friend was smoking, wouldn't you help them? Who CARES if smoking is a choice and drowning is an accident? No one SHOULD, because the whole commercial is directed to friends who should care enough to stop their other friends from smoking. The TRUTH commercials aren't out there because they think they're fun to make- it's trying to get across a message.
I wouldn't actually call TRUTH commercials, more like propoganda. I despise all comercials, they rate right up there with reporters sticking their dirty fingers into everyone's lives. I've even had a cigarette before, but I hated it and woudln't do it ever again. But those who do like it don't need to be forced to change by TV propoganda, that's why I brought up the Smoke Out episode on South Park, anyone who saw it knows, and it's true, since some people like it since it makes them feel relaxed in thier own mind, and they know the risks, they just have thier own life. If we all listened to what TRUTH and anything else that siad, we'd be robots to them. And Penn and Teller Bull ****, mentioned the truth about the failure on the war on drugs.

Smoking is a choice. Drowing in a lake is not, that makes this analogy, very pointless. If someone wants to smoke they do that because they enjoy it. South Park tought a good lesson on this topic, I just feel that if you smoke, its' your choice, and a commercial isn't going to change that, since most people tune out of them anyways.

This is my eigth song (I'm not posting in an order). It's a short progressive rock song, the guitar is powerful but bass is more of the lead instrument in this song. I would really appreciate some input. Beach of Memories (Written August 15, 2004 by Mike R. Smale) Tales of long ago, are reflected in the sand. The seeds that the present sow, echo throughout this land. Images of days gone by, come to life along the shore. Showing every truth and lie, and days of peace and war. The Beach of Memories, everyday we live is here. The Beach of Memories, every laugh and every tear. The lightest hours, the darkest sins. What’s exposed here shall happen again. The Beach of Memories, every laugh and every tear. The Beach of Memories, of every hour, of every year, everyday we live is here.
