My grandmother can be very very cheap. She had a farm with her husband but sold a lot of land, about a million dollars worth, no kidding. My aunt drives down to visit my family from Maine every now and then. She mentioned that she needs about 70 dollars for gas once a week and with the high prices at the time that was too much for her. My grandmother snapped at her and said "Glad you have 70 dollars!" And her in ground pool has a leak and needs a new liner then to be filled, it will cost 6000 dollars and she says "Thats not so bad." And now she wants new carpeting for 2000 dollars. And she couldn't even pay for the headstone for my sister who passed away in May. Not even a single sent she offered to my parents. Then she talks about a family thier friendly with, constantly. If it's not them it's what she ate for dinner, lunch, snack, breakfast, brunch etc in addition to exactly what she had and were she had it at what time! My cousin and aunt can't stand that anymore and havn't visisted them in a while! All I do is act nice and nod my head. Like my Aunt says, if you treat her nice, you'll get in the will.

What do you find attractive? [Threads merged]
DetectiveMikeRS replied to MaxSonic's topic in General Discussion
I only care about personality. A friend of mine set me up with my girlfriend and we talked for a year online and I had a strong attraction to her and I didn't even know what she looked like until last Christmas when we met at my school's dance. Looks aren't everything, true beauty is inside. I even wrote my first song, love song too, for her a month prior to our meeting in person. And I could say I loved her before I even knew how she looked. I can't describe her though only becuase she is indeed the most beautiful girl I've ever seen inside and out. And I'd go on for hours describing her inner and external beauty. -
I wrote this for my friend and guitarist in my band who was having trouble with a girl he liked. Like all my works of writing, this is also copywriten. It has a very hard progressive rock tune. I would really like some input on this song. Mirror Manor (Written July 19, 2004 by Mike R. Smale (C) 2004) Is that really you, is this really me? Reflections in the mirrors, are all that I can see. I know you wouldn’t do this to me. And this act, is just your fantasy. And I don’t know, what this is all about. I talk to you, but no words come out. Escape. Escape from the Mirror Manor. Run away. Run from what’s not real. I know that you care, but you simply ignore. I want to know the truth, but you disregard me more. And I don’t know, what this is all about. I talk to you, but no words come out. Escape. Escape from the Mirror Manor. Run away. Run from what’s not real. Tell me. Tell me what I mean to you. And I don’t know, what this is all about. I talk to you, but no words come out. Escape. Escape from this Mirror Manor. Set us free. Let me believe we can love. Let me believe we can love.

Writing When It Just Doesn't Work [Writer's Block] -- [E]
DetectiveMikeRS replied to Lady Asphyxia's topic in Creative Works
I had an awful bout with writer's block. I wrote my 5th song in March and didn't write my 6th until late July. I wrote only about 4 poems inbetween the songs too. Nothing I did could stop it, I listened to my inspirational artists, my girlfriend helped me with my new love song but I only had bits and pieces then, I finally finished it now though. It was awful for me, I'd sit at the computer in Word or with a notebook with a blank page, fiddling with words in my head, hoping I'd have a few verses, but both were left blank. I'm so glad it's over for me for now. -
This is my seventh song, and it is also written for my girlfriend Jenny, like all my love songs are. This is also copywritten. My mom cried when she read this one (she did for my other two love songs too). It's mostly done to a soft rock feel either with guitar or piano for it's main instrument. Tell me what you think! Eternal Sunset (Written August 5, 2004 by Mike R. Smale (C) 2004) A painting by angels, a glimpse of paradise, A work of art, in the sky tonight. Like a perfect mirror, it reflects your beauty. As we stand out here, in the day’s last light. Under the golden twilight sky, watching the stars with you by my side. The early moonlight glows in your eyes, in this eternal sunset. I’ll eternally love you. (Eternal sunset) I’ll eternally love you. So what it’s getting darker, true love’s blind anyway. I’ll always be here with you, through every night and day. Under the golden twilight sky, watching the stars with you by my side. The early moonlight glows in your eyes, in this eternal sunset. I’ll eternally love you. (Eternal sunset) I’ll eternally love you. I’ll eternally love you.
My all-time favorites: 2. Jimi Hendrix: What the fuzz is wrong with you people?! He is THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER THAT EVER LIVED. He frigging PIONEERED the whammy bar. He played his guitar upside-down (but it was stringed right side up ;) )
Hendrix was left handed, he played a left handed guitar. My top 5 favorite bands and songs: 1. Rush- There's not a single Rush song that I dont' like, they're my favorite band. The drum, bass, synth and guitar work is simply amazing. -Subdivisions -Test for Echo -2112 -Red Barchetta -Spirit of Radio 2. The Eagles, one of my favorite for soft/folk rock. Inspried a lot of my own songs. -Tequila Sunrise -Hotel California -Life in the Fastlane -The Last Resort -Get Over It 3. Don Henley. Yes he was in The Eagals, but did many solo songs that I just can't ignore. -The Heart of the Matter -The Boys of Summer -Dirty Laundry -Everything is Different Now -New York Minute 4. U2, they have to be one of the best bands to come out of the UK, along with The Beatles, The Divine Comedy, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. -Mysteriouse Ways -Elevation -The Unforgettable Fire -Even Better than the Real Thing -Where the Streets Have No Name 5. I mentioned them in the last one, but here they are, The Divine Comedy. Not as old as the others since they formed in '89, but they still rank up there. -Gin Soaked Boy -National Express -Something for the Weekend -Everybody Knows (Except You) -The Pop Singers Fear of the Pollen Count

I never cared for the band. Even when they first started, the music got so annoying to me it made me grind my teeth. And the video for Bring Me To Life is very similar to an Irish band's video for a song called The Ballad of Tom Jones, only a guy's haning off a car over a cliff instead ofa building, and that video came out long before Evanescence appeared. And they do sound Christain, which is fine since I'm a Catholic and all but I know that they must be for a fact since my private school played My Immortal for our Living Stations of the Cross. But I'm more into the older stuff for music, I even like the swing of the 40s, so Evanescence, never hooked me.

What does religion have to do with where i work?
DetectiveMikeRS replied to Zudo's topic in General Discussion
I know it's been said, but you are fully 100% apt to sue your boss for this. It is agains the law no matter where you are really, and if its' the United States, you don't have to worry about working ever again. That is un-Constitutional under the first Amendmant. You definitely should bring a lawer into this. No one has the right to fire someone for thier own beliefs. -
I don't really think I have any embarassing moments, except for the time a Spanish teacher of mine made me move seats for no reason (I never talk in class, she just moved me), and was saying things like "Come on, come on" like I'm a dog. My mom had one that was a lot more interesting. At the beach last year, I was swimming, and she went to get me a towel from the motel my family stayed at. When she got there a big seagul was flying overhead, and he nailed her. Right on the middle of her head was a pile of seagull poo. My girlfriend's mom had the same thing a few times too. But my mom walked back to the motel and one old guy looked right at her, laughed and started shooing away the seagulls nearby. She was so embarresed by it.
To me, Reading isn't Dying..... I've read since 6 years of age. I enjoy reading. It just takes you away from reality and puts you into the book. One book that I suggest EVERYONE to read is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It has Really all the elements. Action, Comedy, Mystery, and that good stuff.I remember when I was in 3rd gr., my Classmates freaking out when I said That I don't enjoy watching tv and I then Abruptly brought out the Trilogy of the LOTR books ( Yes.... I was able to read them at that age of 8) and began to read it..
To Kill a Mocking Bird was one of my favorites. I read it freshman year, since it wasn't allowed in public schools in my town (use of the "N" word got many parents mad, so they took it out of the library in the middle school), and when I went to a private high school I read it and unlike the rest of the class enjoyed it. I could actually read on a very high level when I was only in 2nd grade, but I didn't bring any larger book like the Lord of the Rings trilogy to school because the teachers only wanted us to read on at least 3rd grade level, the rest was for home they told me. So I got stuck reading stories about 20 pages long at the most, since I couldn't read anything else in that school, otherwise they'd say you're not being fair to the others, who may not be able to read as well.

Some of the songwriters that I have to give praise to are Don Henley, espeically in his song The Heart of the Matter. One of the most touching songs, about how love doesn't work out at times. Even though he collaborates with many other artists, the song wouldn't be complete without him. Billy Joel, I can't really think of one song that doesn't support how good of a writer he is. I even was inspired to play piano by him. Songs such as New York State of Mind, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, and The Stranger are just some of my favorite ones. The melodies, and the story behind the song, are all worth praising. Neil Hannon. The lead singer and writer of the Irish chamber pop (actually it's a form of alternative rock) band known as The Divine Comedy. His songs range from the romantic such as Everybody Knows (Except You), to the ansty Certainty of Chance. I don't know many people who know of them though. Neil Peart, of Rush. I even have one of thier songs quoted in my signature from thier album Signals. He mostly focuses on songs based off of sci-fi and fantasy books, but he does to love songs, such as Chemistry, that put on a new perspective to it. One of my favorite songs is Manhattan Project, about the atom bomb used on Japan at the end of World War II, it really changed my outlook on the whole thing, even though it was six decades ago.

I play both guitar (Fender Squire) and bass (Ibanez), (in addition to piano, flute, autoharp, harmonica and mandolin). I can play the opening riff of Don Henley's Last Worthless Evening on the guitar, but not much else yet. I am still learning that's why. I can play bass like Geddy Lee though, and have written some very advanced bass lines for my band. I'm a pretty good songwriter too, and wrote all the words and music for my band as well.

I like pretty much all music from classical, proggressive rock, to chamber pop. Virtually anything from the classical era to the 80s. This does not include bands that formed in the 80s and still recorded in the 90s and today such as U2 or The Divine Comedy. I can't stand any rap or hip hop, the lyrics and the music I find annoying but that's me. I also can't stand most country only becuase I've noticed many songs by artists like Warren Zevon are covered and torn apart to match the music style of country, and I noticed Dire Straits riffs used (mainly the riffs in Sultans of Swing) throughout an entire song and it's just not origional if that is done. I do like Kenny Rogers though.

I'm only posting for systems I own, I actaully don't have that many bad games, off the top of my head that is... N64: Pokemon Snap!, my mom bought it for me as an end of the school year gift, and I played it and beat it on one day, and kept playing becuase I'd feel bad if I didn't. Game Boy: Dinosaur, based off the movie that I started to doze off in as I watched it, no offense if anyone liked it (the film), it just didn't apeal to me. The many characters and how small they are is so hard to make sense of. The game's storyline is a little bleak too. Game Boy Advance: Dragonball Z Taiketzu!, the controls are so bad! I got it for this past Chirstmas, played it that day and haven't touched it since. Gamecube: The Scorpion King. I liked the movie, and the game's okay, it's just not my favorite, enemies can take you out so quickley, the controls are poor, the moves are boring, and there isn't enought depth for me. But like Snap! I kept playing it becuase a parent, this time my dad, bought it for me.

I know how bad this is, I work on weekends for my dad's home improvement company and when I'm done on a job I'm too tired to stay up or I'm talking online or out. The weekday afternoons where perfect for me to see YuYu Hakusho (though I perfer the uncut episodes), and many other animes since I didn't work then and my band and I either watched them or met a little later at about 7. Miguzi is a strange name too in my opinion.

This is my second song, which also got published. Again I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks of it. As before it cannot be copy and pasted without my written permission. One Summer Evening (Written January 7, 2004 by Mike R. Smale (C) 2004) Verse: The sun’s going down behind the trees, the air is lightened by a warm breeze. (One summer evening) Verse: Children’s laughter in a neighboring yard, a little reminder that life’s not really hard. (One summer evening) Chorus: It was one summer evening, when I found you in my heart. It was one summer evening, when I knew we couldn’t part. It was one summer evening, when I realized, that I love you. Verse: The night’s coming on and the world’s falling asleep, (One summer evening) Verse: But my heart’s wide-awake, for my feelings are just too deep. (One summer evening) Bridge: How I wish that I could tell you, everything I feel right now, But every time I get the chance, I just don’t know how. Chorus: It was one summer evening, when I found you in my heart. It was one summer evening, when I knew we couldn’t part. It was one summer evening, when I realized, that I love you.

I read all the time, mostly fantasy and sci-fi, but I have notices a drop in not only reading as an activity but also as skill, since many people in 6th grade read on a kindergarten level and are in the regular classes accroding to relatives of mine that teach. Harry Potter brought back the reading to many people especially kids, but then they made the movies so many kids dropped reading the books and just saw the films, dropping it a little more where it was picking up. But I don't think it's completely dead, after all it is a mandatory skill for almost every good profession.

This was the first song I ever wrote and it got published, just wondering what everyone else thinks of it. Since this is published it is copywritten and I own it meaning no one can copy and paste it without my written permission. A slow, romantic song done to a piano with light guitar chords in the chorus. A Waltz Through the Winter Snow (Written November 10, 2003 by Mike R. Smale (C) 2004) Verse: Snowflakes are falling, all around me, in the air, outside. You look so beautiful, and my feelings for you, I cannot hide any longer. Chorus: Let’s take a waltz, through the winter snow. Dancing under the Christmas lights’ soft glow. Only you and me, without another living soul, through the winter snow. Verse: The cold wind blows, throughout this evening world. But the fire in our hearts, is burning so hot, that no world of ice can freeze. Bridge: As we glide through the night in a romantic bliss. We stop, and share one, single kiss. Chorus: Let’s take a waltz, through the winter snow. Dancing under the Christmas lights’ soft glow. Only you and me, without another living soul, through the winter snow.
