it's the action and the visuals.... anime is your alternative source for live action and cartoons....it's easy on the eyes without the childish cartoon ways...:D
I didn't understand that last sentence. What does anime have to do with being "an alernate source for live-action"? I think you meant "an alernative to live-action".
I agree! I love the artwork and I love the depth of each story. Anime is so different from American animation. The effort and quality that go into one episode of Samurai Champloo seems to completely surpass the entire run of, say Hey Arnold or Rugrats. A single episode of a Japanese anime seems to have the quality of an entire american animated feature film.
Miyazaki himself admits that Pixar is better than any other animation studio except his own, Aardman, and Production I.G. Please name one anime series that doesn't end with "Alchemist", "Bebop", "Shell", "Agent", or "Basket" where a single episode can match a good Pixar movie. Seriously.
i meant it butchered the manga not the anime it doesnt matter how you dub it the animated series is horrible and it should friggin die dont get me wrong i love the manga for naruto it is my favorite manga but for gods sake come on the anime does that manga no justice
The manga, while I personally wouldn't use the word "butchered" (things have to be 4Kids-level bad for me to use such a strong word), does have crappy translations. It was just that the other guy in this thread said the anime was "butchered", which is totally incorrect. Also, what do you dislike about the Naruto anime? Yeah, it has it's flaws (annoying filler, repetetive diolouge, way too many flashbacks), but it still has the same level of character development, action, and humor as the manga does. I've read the manga and while it is better than the anime, the anime is still enjoyable.

Tell me 10 ways they "destroyed" the anime. I will not count voice acting, editting out blood, the new intro, or the cutting of the Naruto-Sasuke "kiss" scene as reasons. Also, you are not allowed to predict future edits because those probably won't happen. And before you say "THEY RUINED HAKU!!!1!1!" since you haven't watched the recent episodes, Haku is still a boy in the dub. OK. Now you have no choice but to give in to mwait therses still something left ok heres the 10 things s e x y j u t s u !
That was in the original Japanese show tthe exact same way. Saying you hate that means you hate the show in general whether it is in English or Japanese. That is perfectly acceptable. However, people who hate the dub and think it was "butchered" should be locked up in a mental asylum where they teach you how to... um... have good taste... or something...

Anime Which Toonami Anime Cartoon Is Your Fave?
I know GX doesn't air on Toonami. It was just a figure of speech you could say.[/color']
So does that mean that "Naruto wus BUTCHERED!!!11!1!", "American cartoons are teh s uck!!!111!", and "We need MORE EVA endingz!111one!!1" are all figures of speech as well? :catgirl: And The Powerpuff Girls is probably one of the best shows to ever air on Toonami. If you EVER insult the work of Genndy Tartakovsky ever again (not counting 2 Stupid Dogs), you don't want to be on this forum... -------
What did they do to the professor?! Dear god...
I think that's supposed to be Dexter. Or some new guy. Or something. MUST SEE ANIME VERSIONS OF FUZZY LUMPKINS, THE AMOEBA BOYS, GANGREEN GANG, AND ESPECIALLY HIM! -

Anime Which Toonami Anime Cartoon Is Your Fave?
EVA Unit 100 replied to Coolskittles821's topic in Otaku Central
Currently, Naruto and IGPX have me tooning in, but other than that, I have no reason to watch old episodes of DBZ and Yu Gi Oh GX....
But Yu-Gi-Oh GX doesn't air on Toonami... ;) And if you are getting subbed episodes, I think you should just wait for the boxed sets that are legally coming to DVD. 13 episodes, uncut, both English and Japanese audio tracks, and at a cheap $30 dollar price to boot. Starting in July, then coming out every 4-5 months after that. -
Anime Which Toonami Anime Cartoon Is Your Fave?
EVA Unit 100 replied to Coolskittles821's topic in Otaku Central
Naruto is the best anime on Toonami right now. I think we can all agree on that. I haven't gotten the chance to see IGPX since it's premiere (damn parents and their tendency to watch TV at 10 PM preventing me from taping it!), but it was OK. Zatch Bell is a fun show that is pretty underrated despite some Americanization, and although it isn't anime Teen Titans has its moments (it used to be really good, but I'm not enjoying this season as much as the previous ones). I dislike DBZ but it is pretty damn fun to see all of the dirty content air on non-AS CN. Bobobo gets rediculously stupid once the shock wears off, Duel Masters' current season is rather unfunny compared to the previous one, and the 4Kids' version of One Piece is the most blasphemous thing ever created. That pretty much sums up my feelings on current Toonami. -
Anime Why do some people not like anime?

EVA Unit 100 replied to celoctopus's topic in Otaku Central
i don't need claymation to feel sentimental!
Claymation might not make you feel sentimental, but if you want to feel dark and humorous, The Nightmare Before Christmas always helps. -
Two things: 1. This should have been posted in the official EVA thread. 2. In the EVA movie, Shinji is forced to either go with Asuka or stay single forever (your guess is as good as mine on what will happen). I won't get into more detail or else I'd spoil some things for you, who is obviously just starting to watch EVA either on AS or DVD.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements

What do you ppl think of Naruto. :animesigh I love naruto in japanese! It totally sucks in english! Naruto sounds like a 10 year old.
Odd, I never noticed that 10-year-olds and 12-year-olds sounded that different... (hint: Naruto is 12 in the first few batches of Naruto episodes. He's supposed to sound young. Quit complaining.) -
Anime Which is better, old style anime or new style anime?
EVA Unit 100 replied to a topic in Otaku Central
This topic is vague enough to mean different things to different people but it seems some people are thinking in terms of ART styles -- cel vs. CG animation. And that's good enough for me for now. I prefer the older style because of the way many scenes in older series tend to revolve around a specific striking image. This sort of thing makes it easier to grasp the point of each scene.
In terms of CG, Ghost in the Shell does it amazingly, and IGPX and other Ghibli productions use it pretty well, but I have yet to see a full-CG anime that was very good (as opposed to America, where Pixar's movies are the best around). Currently, 2D anime, possibly with some CG elements, beats CG anime bigtime, but that can change. -
Anime Which is better, old style anime or new style anime?
EVA Unit 100 replied to a topic in Otaku Central
I don't care how old a show is. However, I have noticed a lot higher quality in 50+ episode shows in the past 5 or so years and a bit of a decrease in the quality of shorter series (with exceptions, of course). Also, how do you define new and old? Do you mean Gigantor-level old or Case Closed-level "old" (man, just thinking about the "old-skool anime hour" AS had after CC was canceled cracks me up, and not just because I find those shows funny). -
Major problem: Sasuke is the most popular, but he is one of the more annoying characters on the show. Give up, Sasuke fans. You know that Kakashi is the greatest.

With shows that have great dubs (a good example would be Fruit's Basket), I'm watching the dub and will probably only watch an episode or two subbed just to see how the characters sounded in the Japanese version (which usually proves how great the dub is). With shows that have weaker dubs (an example would be Neon Genesis Evangelion), I'd probably enjoy the sub a bit more, but I can deal with the dub. With shows that have terrible dubs (the most glaring example would be One Piece), I'll pick the sub and avoid the dub for the rest of my life until they redub it more faithful to the original.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
EVA Unit 100 replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
I think Inuyasha and others in Adult Swim are where they need to be. The issues discussed in the animes, if put on primetime, would send the parents screaming and yelling for them to be removed. I mean even though primetime television is smut mostly, it would probably be removed from air to the dismay of all anime fans. Anime is often too misunderstood to be put on earlier. Of course this is my opinion.
While some shows like Paranoia Agent and TV-MA 2nd Gig are not primetime material, stuff like Case Closed, Fullmetal Alchemist, and the editted version of Cowboy Bebop would probably fit right in place in network TV primetime. However, given how crappy network TV treats most shows nowadays, I'm perfectly happy to see Adult Swim air that stuff, although Toonami could probably handle Case Closed given their looser content standards. So have you heard that CN is airing the live-action Batman movie, The Goonies, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids this month? Maybe I can justify Batman since it's based on a comic, but the others definately don't belong on a CARTOON Network. Why do you think they're airing live-action? -
I like Bobo. It's a really funny show. It is weird, but weird is great. Why is weird a bad thing?
Being wierd is great. Being nothing but wierd gets boring after the shock wears off. Bobobo unfortunately falls in the latter catagory. -

Anime Cartoon you would like to see turned into Anime
EVA Unit 100 replied to meka2003's topic in Otaku Central
MEGAS XLR as done by GAINAX would be a dream come true. -
I'm working on animating a webcartoon called "The Lincoln Johnson Show". It's an adult psuedopolitical comedy in the vein of Family Guy and The Boondocks, but with a middle-school setting and some really bizare character ideas (including a 12-year-old smartass "Naderian Party" President, his 150-year-old bodyguard, a Saddam look-alike, a transexual cyborg with Hitler's brain, some hilbilly who is somehow related to Moses, and a lunch teacher who is actually Al Gore is a mask). I should have the first episode done and on the internet by the start of next year.

Did anybody know that Studio Ghibli did some of the outsourcing work for Production IG in this show? Maybe they'll soon have the resources to do a more faithful-to-the-manga 26-episode TV series of Nausicaa.

Anime Which anime do you think has the best art work?
EVA Unit 100 replied to a topic in Otaku Central
IGPX has better animation than any other television series out there.
