Hah.
When Jack fell off the cliff and spun around, I thought that was pretty spectacular. It looked real and was thrilling and entertaining. But it compares nothing to the last fight scene with the wheel and such. Not to mention how Elizabeth, Pintel, and Ragetti kept shouting "Sword!" and one would throw it to the other. Now that's teamwork! I really thought Pintel and Ragetti were actual good assets to the movie. It's not like they were thrown in there for the hell of it. They actually added to the plot, so it's fine. More often than not, they caused conflict, but still.

I just assumed that
the voodoo woman raised him from the dead[/spoiler']. Seemed like a fairly reasonable conclusion to make, given what was said, and what she was up to.
I considered that too, but if that were the case,
that'd make it far too easy to bring people back in the POTC realm. If someone has the ability to raise the dead, she'd be much more popular and handy around the Caribbean than just putting herself out on all the guys who trespass her swamp ("I thought I knew you...").
I know for a fact I haven't put up all the video games on the first post since I own one that's not on there. I'll have to get around to that. But if you click the purchase link for "The Legend of the Jack Sparrow," it'll bring you to Amazon, which should surely give you some fair information on the game as well as a place to buy it (though you can simply just run to the store).
I too enjoy Barbossa the most. Funny how I don't appreciate him as much until he's gone :D Guess that old saying is right. Oh, and I like how juicy the apple was. The juice kinda just trickled down his face. Haha. And as stated a hundred times before, Norrington kicks butt in this movie.

The organ scene was, indeed, awesome.
And I am referring to the musical instrument, not the creepy, beating heart-in-a-box. =']

You stole my joke :^D I was gonna make a funny out of that. EDIT: Oh, and GTK's geeky ;^D Muhahahaha! But she's got moxy.
Watch the credits at the end of the first PotC movie.
The monkey stole another piece of gold, so he started a whole new curse or something like that. Barbossa still being around probably has something to do with the whole "end of the world" thing. Although, who would go to the end of the world for Barbossa?
Did anyone else stay until after the credits of the second one?
The dog was so cute!! I hope the cannibals don't eat him...
I was very surprised at the reappearance of
Norrington. I didn't recognize him until about a minute after he showed up. He became quite the interesting character in this movie. He might not be anywhere near Jack or Will in terms of looks, but taking off the wig and adding facial hair didn't exactly hurt him....
This movie seems to just be a way to connect the plot of the first movie to the third. I'm very optimistic that the third movie will actually have more than just cool actiony stuff in it (not that I'm complaining).
Naturally.
I noticed it was Norrington the moment he spoke, though at the time we could not see him. Like I've mentioned several times before, I liked him that way better. And that's what was at the end of the credits. I see now... people told me to stay, but not until after I saw it a second time. Maybe when I see it again :P
And I hope they had good reason to give it a D+.
[spoiler']But what was up with the undead monkey? Not that he wasn't great, but why is he still undead even though they've returned the gold? Though, while we're at it, why is Barbossa still alive? O_O not that I'm complaining. I did a lot of squeeing at him *heart*

I noticed this too and was confused, but after Barbossa appeared at the end (which I somewhat predicted would happen), I figured the money and Barbossa would be explained in the third. I do love the fact he's back 'cause he's so much cooler of a villain than Davy Jones :) Even if he's somewhat on the good side now.
Having said that, I just returned from seeing the movie again. You understand it a lot more after the second time. It also goes quicker and you catch a lot of stuff you miss the first time 'cause you aren't looking for it.
The first time they go to the Voodoo Lady's house (her name has slipped my mind), you'll see the monkey playing with Barbossa's legs, who is either sleeping on the floor or still dead and the Voodoo Lady hasn't revived him yet or what-have-you. So whether you catch that or not, Barbossa is in the movie a lot earlier than you think.
And a lot of people asked me why I didn't dress as a pirate. Am I that geeky? ;) Haha, diss on GTK :^D

Now these conversations are just getting weirder. I think I'll move things onto a new subject ;) I thought the special effects in this one were actually better than the first. The Kraken looked very realistic, especially with the suctions on its tentacles. Some have already said in the previous thread that they believed the effects on Davy Jones' crew were too much, but I thought it was balanced well.
Not sure if this can be considered a spoiler, but still... since they all are damned to service under the guy who basically runs the sea, they kind of became a part of the sea themselves. I'm sure these were all real men once, but after such long servitude, some morphed into sharks or crabs or barnacles and everything else corroded from the sea. Even Bootstrap gradually gained more as the movie progressed it seemed. He had a starfish near his eye too :)
-
Are you just advertising this stuff or what :animeangr .To me it seems pretty weird.I'm not used to seeing this on a forum board. No offense though :animesmil
Yes, I'm actually an employee of the Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise here to advertise all things POTC so we make lots more money. We are oh-so crafty :) Haha. But no, that's all there, so people have a quick directory to POTC information and ways of purchasing products. It's just more convenient. Onto the real conversation at hand, I find it funny we speak of the romance as if they're real people. It's like when this one woman in the store randomly started talking to me about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie like she was personal friends with them.

Sequel of the Century! Pirates of the Caribbean 2!
Dragon Warrior replied to The_Mix_Breed's topic in Noosphere
That'd be one of the most surprisingly moves the filmmakers could do--breaking Will and Elizabeth. In honest truth, you know in the end they'll be together. Jack and her could never be. There'd be too much complaint probably if Liz and Will broke up anyways. Man, I sound like I'm talking about a real couple here...
-

Dagger said what I was basically going to say.
Wouldn't you feel like an asshat if you screwed someone over like Elizabeth did to Jack? Whether she has feelings for him or not, she's still going to feel awful knowing what she did to him. Plain and simple. Obviously Jack will be back, but I wonder how this "love triangle," as so many of you call it, will turn out.
-
Sequel of the Century! Pirates of the Caribbean 2!
Dragon Warrior replied to The_Mix_Breed's topic in Noosphere
I probably should have better phrased that. Johnny Depp spoke in an interview that he'd like to make six films and the creators were somewhat considering it and liking that idea. Of course, he may not feel that way after making "Dead Man's Chest" and "At World's End" ;) -
Yesiree, it's definitely coming along nicely. Can't say I'm seeing a flaw yet still. It's just perfectly portrayed, keeping that Pulp Fiction feel, but you're keeping true to OB. Like others have said, portraying buildings as threads, rooms as posts, floors as pages--it's all brilliantly handled. And shame on you, Retri, for not believing in this new addition, 'cause it was just as well done as the first by The Boss. I can see this becoming an OB classic fast.
Also, I'm pretty certain that
Norrington will be back in his position by the time of the next film, as on the IMDB he is cast as "Admiral James Norrington."

Which disappoints me 'cause
As I said in my last post, I wanted to see him in jack's crew again or something similar. I liked him as a scoundrel more than a man in the service. Damn.
Now we gotta wait for the third one... Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. -
Sequel of the Century! Pirates of the Caribbean 2!
Dragon Warrior replied to The_Mix_Breed's topic in Noosphere
Hah, not me. I already am well aware there is to be six films in the series. I've been psyched about the second one, for sure, but also the third, which is to come out Summer 2007. No, it's not a big secret. In fact, you can read a clip of the plot on Internet Movie Database, for goodness sake. Having said that, I loved the movie. Best movie of the year, and not just 'cause it's Pirates. It was just so overwhelmingly amazing and well done. Like Dagger said, it was wonderful to see old cast members making their returns.
Norrington I particularly liked in this movie. I was pleased to see him more of a badass scoundrel like Jack than an uptight man of war like in the first film. I was even happier to see him join Jack's crew, especially when it caused humorous quarrels between the infamous Sparrow and his old enemy James. But I didn't figure it'd last long, even if I wished it would. I'd love to see Norrington stay a crew member, but good things must come to an end. It's a shame he turned in the heart in the end. I wonder if he gets his spot back?
The action scenes were delicious, even though some may run longer than they should. Then again, I can't get enough of them, drawn out as they may be.
The three-way sword fighting between Jack, Will, and James was amazing. It was funny, thrilling, and beautifully choreographed. When I saw it in the trailer, I knew that part would rock, but I wondered why Will and Jack were fighting each other. Now I know.
I see now that Davey Jones looks quite real. In fact, sickeningly real. I don't think the crew looks as real as him, but it's definitely some amazing effects.
Why is the monkey still undead?
I called a lot of the stuff that happened in the movie.
I knew Bootstrap Bill would appear, I knew there'd be some awful cliffhanger that's so deliciously evil to have, and I soooo called Barbossa coming back in the end, not to mention captaining a ship for the good guys. Don't ask me how I guessed, but I suppose I'm right. Haha.
Don't get me wrong, though, a lot was a surprise. I was so on the edge of my seat the whole time. Aside from when I had to smack my friend Stephanie for oogling Orlando the whole time. There's so much to be said, but I can't go on forever. I'll let someone else throw in two cents... -

Bravo. You know I've already read it ;) Best damn Otaku Parody to hit OB and I mean it. It's interesting, keeps my attention, it's funny and serious all at once, and the jokes are very well placed. And now I don't have to read stars for the swearwords anymore :P That drove me insane. Anyways, I can't wait for the next installments. Like I said, I can't think of really any cons so far. I love the script-style. Give me more. Bring 'em, yo! Who made that sexy logo? ;) Hot.

Hah, yeah, it's a shame what public believe. But I have to abide by it. You guys said it yourself, I should have 'em in the newspaper. And if I ever do, it needs to be newspaper appropriate. Time was passing slowly and a small clock-like object lay on the floor shattered next to her, still ticking ominously, despite the fact it was knocked off the wall in combat. Andrea held her wheels ready to throw, an eerie aura and silence causing the mood to feel off. Then a small metal ball clinked against the counter and landed near her behind the bar. It didn't take long for her to realize what it was. She grabbed the bartender and threw him a safe distance away and had enough time to move herself. An explosion tore up the bar and sent Andrea flying from the powerful wind it caused. She easily caught herself again and landed on a table neatly, but was now in range. "Got ya," Quell smirked and fired a shot. Andrea saw this and evaded it quickly by side-stepping to the left. But there was suddenly a second pistol in Quell's hand and the following shot was not as easy to dodge. The lead ripped through her right arm, surprising her, but not letting her guard down. She released the wheels to counter as Quell made his way to the smoking bar. The wheels crashed through the splintering wood and barely missed Danjer before returning to their respectful master. Andrea winced at the wound, but never showed she had been weakened. "Nice one. How about you let me have a try." Quell sat next to a case of alcohol, which he promptly jugged down a quarter of a bottle of one through an opening in his mask. He readied his gun and replied, "Dun think yer gonna psyche me out, ma'am. Yer not gonna distract me with that." His excellent hearing picked up Andrea's movements, then her wheels came zipping by, nearly slicing off Quell's head and instead smashing several bottles of liquor on their way back to Andrea's hand. "Hey, watch it. That's still good booze." "Alcohol's bad for you," she smiled. "Yeah, so are you," he mumbled before taking one last swig and standing up. His hearing allowed him to know where she was before rising, but he did expect her to attack the second he showed himself. He also did not expect her to have a pistol of her own and immediately ducked back down as she fired several bullets in his direction. Once again, glasses and bottles of alcohol shattered as the lead ripped through the dusty bar. "I asked fer two shots, but this is ridiculous." Andrea clicked the gun, but frowned to see it was out of bullets. She had stolen it from a patron who was long gone from alcohol abuse. Quell could hear the empty barrel and she knew it. It was time for a new plan. Putting away her Thunder Wheel, she pushed a small button on the other and fire suddenly engulfed the weapon. She smiled and shouted back toward Quell who still sat behind the bar. "Alcohol can kill you, you know." "Stop lecturin' me, lady," he replied. "Yer not muh wife." "I'm just saying," she laughed. "It'll be the end of you." With that, she sent the fire wheel flying perfectly. It did not touch Quell, but instead set aflame all the the liquor that was spilt. Dendwennian alcohol is even more flamable than regular, so it was only a second before the whole bar went up in flames, with Quell in it. The wheel returned to Andrea who wore a successful smirk painted across her face. She wasn't dumb enough to take chances, of course. She readied herself for anything Quell may pull. But he stayed in the flames for a long time, longer than most could. She was almost satisfied that he was dead. Then a shot fired out, hitting her just above where he did before. Wobbling out of the flames came a stumbling Quell. The fire burnt away most of his clothes, leaving him with blackened cloth around an armored body. It was good that he had the armor, but now Andrea could see it and plan against it. Quell's right arm (obviously the weaker one) moved gradually and looked injured. Andrea was not sure why, but she took it as a good sign. "This battle is sure heatin' up," Quell said smiling. "Nothing gets you down," Andrea returned the grin. "Same to you," he replied. "Hah, I'd marry you if I wusn't 'bout to kill ya." "Aw, that's sweet," she said. "But it's the other way around." With that, she tossed a wheel upward and snapped the rope holding a chandelier to the ceiling, which came flying downward toward Quell, candles flickering. "Why the hell are those things everywhere?" he said before being crushed underneath. Andrea leapt down to admire her work. Quell tried to escape, but was obviously stuck. She blew out the last remaining candle on the chandelier and smiled. "Lights out for you, Quell."

Art Otaku Drawaca 2006 [DRAWING CONTEST]
Dragon Warrior replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Sorry, guys. I've had a really rough weekend and I just got through with it. I can judge now. Though there isn't much to judge. Sadly one didn't post. You four that did remain in, but don't take a breather. Here's round two for cancer, jigglyness, han ki-tae, and The Boss. ROUND II This isn't an easy one. It's a big step up from the simple idea of round one. I want you to invent a cartoon character for a children's saturday morning cartoon show. This cartoon takes place in medieval times and involves a stupid dragon who keeps trying to take over this one particular castle. You may decide what character to make. It could be the main hero, it could be the king, or even another villain. Anyone, but the dragon (though feel free to draw him/her too if you wish). Make a medieval background for the image too, just to give it atmosphere. This will test your cartooning skills. Do NOT draw realistically. It has to be cartoon. Any cartoon style is fine (Disney, Looney Tunes, Rocky & Bullwinkle). Due Date: Because of it being 4th of July week, some of our contestants (if not all) may celebrate the holiday. This can get in the way of the contest events, so I am making this round long. You have 'til July 8th. That's almost a week. Good luck. -
