Not to be cruel or anything, but a rematch would be a bit insane. I mean, the fact lies that Eliwood showed the more skill in the match and if Misenki didn't show his true colors like he said he didn't, there can't be anything done about it. If he wanted to study how sparring is done here, he should have just viewed Eliwood's first post in the new match and then broke out his true roleplaying skills for the rest of the fight, if he really was hoarding them. Besides, this is just one RPG. No worries, Misenki. Now that you know how we spar here on OB, you can break out your true roleplaying skills in other RPGs. This is nothing to be ashamed or sad about. :) The judging of the first match was tough :<
I agree with Gavynn here, even though they fulfil some very important roles in the books ( such as Eowyn killing the Witch-King), they still do comparatively less than their male counter-parts. Sure a lot of them were great characters but they didn’t really do all that much in retrospect, Galadriel’s phial was one of the more important items in the journey of Sam and Frodo. This is down to Tolkien himself since he was the one who wrote the book and it's characters. I don't think Elves even celebrate Christmas Gavynn...
I was kidding. Oy XD I think I'll actually search for the animated films. They should give me something to enjoy :)
-
Well, I can't suggest too much right now since it'd be unfair to Burori. But you already expect his character to kill yours? Where's the fun in the match? XD And you should watch your posts here more. No offense, but most of your posts I've seen across OtakuBoards are spam. Check up on the rules ;)
-
Ah, sorry about that error. I caught the idea of fireballs in Eliwood's post, I s'pose. Nevertheless, you could still use the energy balls for something with the environment ;)
-
The first battle's results are in. Misenki, Lord Eliwood, visit it to see my critiques on your posts and the results of who won. Sorry I took so long everyone. I was away the whole day for a cross country meet and a lan party.

Battle 1 Results Obviously the match is over, but just because Eliwood "supposedly" slit the throat of Misenki, that does diddily squat compared to how you sparred. Results... Misenki: You definately kept your character's goal in mind and made it clear during the different situations your chara faced. That's good. The problem, though, was at first, you didn't describe what you did. You just made thoughts. That's not exactly the best way to go for first-person. What Eliwood did is the correct way to do it. You must actually explain what you do as you do it. You eventually got to the point where you described your fight and went out of "thought mode," but you constantly spoke your plans. You were saying "I will get him with my..." and stuff like that, while you should've simply said "I attacked him with my..." and so forth. That was partially a bad thing and hurt your score a bit. But staying in character like you did is very good. Just try to avoid going "Huh? He just attacked me! I've gotta do something." and stuff like that. Lord Eliwood: Very nice. A big step up from the first attempt at this match. I liked it. You caught on to the way you do first-person. You don't have to do first person (I actually suggest you don't), but if you do, you should do it correctly and, boy, you did. You described your moves as if the character was telling the story rather than just stating what was on their mind the whole time. That's how it's done. I rarely saw flaw in your post, but it did lack some interesting events. You didn't do too many original moves. It was always sword slash or dodge. Both of you are guilty of that. You gotta be creative and turn things up. You both had a flaw where you lacked using the environment. I don't recall hearing any of you doing anything with your surroundings, which can make the fight more intriguing. Even if you're in a goofy coliseum. Why not chuck sand in their eyes or something or bounce off the walls. And Misenki, you had a fire ability. Use some imagination and heat the sand ;) There's so much the environment could do to make your character prosper (and give you better score). Though I had to think about it, Eliwood wins the fight (and conviently matches the result of the spar). Good work both of you and good luck Eliwood in the next round.

Yeah, but that's the Silmarillion. When we talked about girls not getting an even cut, we were speaking of the LOTR trilogy. I'm sure all the females in the books did something amazing, but Tolkien didn't really introduce that factor in the books, IMO. But don't get me wrong, they kick butt. They play important roles, nevertheless (aside from Galadriel. What the heck did she do in the movie? Give them Christmas presents? :P).

Okay, milz and I believe we should explain sparring for those who don't know how. Firstly, Lord Eliwood, don't follow Misenki's example (no offense, Misenki, but sparring is different here). When you spar, you're writing a story (like you would for any RPG). So not only do you not post in first-person like you did, Eliwood, but you must be very descriptive with your posts. You don't have to describe every move you make, but make this battle interesting. And I'm not supporting quantity over quality, but your posts are really short. Take time to write these. Not to mention grammar and spelling. I'll definately be marking down for grammar and spelling. It's easily corrected by proof-reading and spell checkers. Typos can be found that way too. Eliwood has somewhat of the idea of how to spar, but as I said, first-person usually doesn't work unless it's very detailed. Here's an example of a better first person: "Sweat poured down my face, forming dark puddles on my garments. They were torn a part, as was I, but I knew in my heart this foe had to be defeated no matter what. My hands bled from gripping my sword hilt too tight, but I didn't care. My mind was focused, my body regaining its energy, the theatre of war was set." That's not my best, but it's a simple example to show off how to roleplay (I didn't really bother using big words or anything and sometimes big words aren't always best to use). This battle is off to a rough start so milz will probably restart it. Rethink and take your time before posting ;)

I'm not angry, but this is all serious spamming =/ He's making an underground thread too so post about the RPG there. You can even discuss match results. And last I checked, I'm a guy ;)
-
I suggest you all stop spamming this thread or doom will come to it ;) Ultimamilz will start the RPG within the next five minutes, so be ready. With that said, there is nothing else to be said here so don't post :^D

Crazy UltimaMilz :< He's making me ref the matches. But okay, it seems easy enough. I'll sign up as ref. I'll even take the liberty of describing to you folkies why I chose the winner of each match and say the pros and cons of each person's match. Yay. May this RPG survive :3 EDIT: I see that I have a sign up sheet. Okay. Name: Arj Bathowing REF

Sign Up Once Upon a Legend: Act I [PG-VL]
Dragon Warrior replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Theater
Are you comparing me to your mom and saying I'm old? >:^O Jk :P Enya fits this RPG so well and I'm proud to say her music will be used all the way through. Anyways, I'd just like to say that I won't read your profiles until I close the signups so I can't help you guys out. I'm completely blind to what you have written aside from what character you want to be. But that also means make sure to post who you're signing up for. I think all of you have so far, but just in case someone doesn't. And be sure to take your time with these profiles. I'll be very nitpicky about this and will dig you for the littlest things. So be sure that grammar, spelling, and all that yadda is in good condition. You guys have a week or so, so don't think you have to do this all right now. I prefer quality and believe me, I know what it's like to want to get into a RPG so bad that you rush a profile. And remember the rule: Quality over quantity. :) Good luck. -
Well, I don't usually not go to see movies just because I hear a few bad reviews, but after you told me what the animated short contains, I'm unsure I want to see it anyways. But I might just to get kicks. I usually giggle at crappy animation that's old or the dialogue that tends to suck in those films. I never said I'd give it good rating, but I must say that it intrigues me even more now that you have all dissed on it so XD
-
Quite so. If you use a background table graphic, it could be a sandy beach or the ocean water. Many things you can do and I definately have ideas of how it could look. Anyone can think of something for this sort of thing. It wouldn't be a bad idea to hire a staff onto the RPG and get something big going. It takes a little more effort is all.

Discuss Once Upon a Legend: Act I- Underground [PG-VL]
Dragon Warrior replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Theater
If you want wolves there, that's fine ;) I mean, it's like the medieval days of our very Earth with numerous differences so why not? I plan on not reading anyone's profiles until I close the sign ups so I have no clue if your sign up sounds awkward or not ;) -
I'd consider joining if the RPG had more substance than just "walk around and party" all day kind of thing. The plot twists would be good, but first you'd need a plot ;) Take Shinmaru's RPG about the apartment building. It had somewhat of a plot because his character owned a crap apartment and always, for some reason, attracted the most unusual residents. I say make it about the beach resort, but have a meaning behind the building. For example, why not make the main character have a dark secret like he/she's an undercover secret agent? Ooo... nifty! That could lead to the main character's antagonists showing up at the beach resort and causing mischief. See? Makes the RPG free still, but gives meaning to these "plot twists." Also, why not hire a graphics designer (unless you do graphics yourself) and make the RPG more spicey. Maybe have a table background image like in Kill Adam and various other RPGs. The more classier it looks, the more people will sign up. :^D Hey, hey, it works!

Discuss Once Upon a Legend: Act I- Underground [PG-VL]
Dragon Warrior replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Theater
Towns often have large rocks of the mineral to protect the town as a whole, but incidents have been known to happen.
I'm sorry if I confused anyone with that. What I simply meant was in case the mineral ever ran out or something happened to it, the Mares would attack the town. There is no possible way a Mare can survive being near the material. So, sorry, Bio, that'd go against the laws of Lo' Urden's nature =/ But you could replace those Mares with animals? Just don't call them monsters because in Lo' Urden, there really aren't any "monsters," just Mares and animal life. -

Yes, do not post clothing because I've already wrote in what your character's garments are. All you have to write is about their physical features and any extra items. -

Dragon Warrior replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Theater
You don't have to design the clothes, it means. In Lo' Urden, a person always wears the clothes of the town they're from and therefore you won't have to explain their outfit. For Kalenbore, their clothes are an off-white trench-coat like deal over black robes with a black hood. So when making your sign up, you only must describe your character's features and maybe any extra items they possess such as a necklace. -
Discuss The quality of RPGs currently in The Arena
Dragon Warrior replied to Balmon's topic in Theater
I just wanna pop in and say that not only are these "poor-quality RPGs," as you put it, are showing up, but numerous amazingly-well developed ones have appeared as well. Take a look at Shy's "hero" or James' "Kill Adam" or even Zidargh's "Super Plumber Bros." These are all amazing, IMO, and have had time taken into them. If anything, OB has advanced in roleplaying more than fallen in. I think if we just make more better RPGs, other members will eventually follow suit. Pointing fingers gets nowhere :3 Don't kill me for saying that ;_; -

This is where a whole new Otakuboards RPG adventure begins and you can be a part of it! I?m proud to present this epic roleplaying game! I?ve spent over three months plotting, having people do graphics and site work, and more. I?d like to thank Hittokiri Zero for the custom graphics and Alan for his mad site/HTML skills. This wouldn?t be what it is without them. Now then, time to get down to business. This RPG is large and uses a chapter system like James? Kill Adam RPGs. It also has some new concepts and such that you?ll learn about at the site. Use this thread to post your sign ups, but before signing up, you must think about it. You must be dedicated and able to post when it?s your turn to post. You must also be worthy of posting with good grammar and spelling. I don?t expect this RPG to be the greatest ever, but I want it to go far. Also note this is Act I. There will be two more acts following (that means 2 more RPGs). If you?re one of the main characters, prepare. Also visit these two following links: Once Upon a Legend: Act I- Official Site Once Upon a Legend: Act I- Underground Thread Use the underground thread for discussion of this RPG and use the site to learn more about the RPG and how to sign up. No clue how long it'll be. For the movie in a whole, I'm sure the same as one of the LOTR movies. Peter won't hold back now. And please, no more Legolas fans. My God XD As for the extended DvD of ROTK, oh yeah. Can't wait. End of this year, it's gonna be in my possession and I'll be watching it non-stop through all the behind the scenes junk >:^D

That was quite sexy, my Booish friend :3 I like how you even inserted the ";_;" smilies you and I always tend to use. This calls for a sexy tea party. I'm pleased that more and more people are animating now here on OB. I'll get to watch movies instead of making them all now ^_^
