Good job, Revelation! Your descriptions are perfectly formed, as if words were created just so that they could form your sentences. The pacing seemed to crawl for me, but that's probably just because I'm hopped up on coffee. Anyways, I enjoyed reading this, and I'm looking forward to Chapter 2 and so forth.

Yeah, Tony got himself banned. [21:23] generic npc 2: I kind of go there only out of habit now... For years I went so much that now I type it without thinking. I figured that would help break the habit lol As for Mitch and Alex, I was pretty sad when I saw the results of that fight between them. The few words I've exchanged with Alex weren't exactly angry ones, lol. You wouldn't think he was Brasil if you talked to him outside of OB. Or at least it took me a while to figure out who it was. I remember Mitch from when I originally joined the boards, well, then again, I remember Athena from when I first joined the boards. Not a good way of describing someone, lol. He was very nice to me and back when I used my LJ we had a few conversations through that. I still didn't get to talk to him much, but overall I found him to be an agreeable person. His poetry was amazing and I got few opportunities to tell him this. Drat. Well, that's my two cents. :X Sorry Lady K, you posted while I was typing this, lol.

How do you pronounce your username?
Goodbye, Face replied to DBZgirl88's topic in General Discussion
Contrary to popular belief, my user name is actually pronounced "Ree-fools-ate-racers." Kidding. You know how to say it. You can either say it as fast as you can to emphasize that it is one word and not three. Or you can say it with pauses in between the words so it's nice and dramatic-sounding. Your choice, I don't care. Most people just call me R@R, RaR, Rifles, or Rifle anyway, lol. -

It's safe to say that the first webpage I ever saw was TheOtaku. It was blue and white and didn't seem to have as much info as it did in towering amounts of pictures and sound files of DragonBallZ, which was the big thing at the time. I have Zidane11 to thank for being here in the first place. I got the internet in 2001 and joined OB either November or December of that year as Cloud Strife00, changed names to Axel--Ignition later. I left because I got attacked a few times by certain members, then my computer go hit by a nasty virus that rendered it completely useless. When I got a new, temporary, computer Dragon Warrior dragged me into his RPG. I wanted to avoid the year-old stigma with my old name, so I made a new one: Kill All Trends. I left again after the RPG and had a pretty bad year followed by a few breakdowns. I changed a lot and came back as RiflesAtRecess. Honestly, I don't use the net for much else than OB. Blame dial-up.

I Need Music Reccommendations - Instrumental
Goodbye, Face replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
Do they even play instrumental music on most radio stations? Anyways, if you like Mars Volta, or any prog rock in general, I also need to recommend AutoDefe and Christiansen. Both can easily be looked up on Purevolume. The Mars Volta pwns them both, but they're good bands in their own way. And I love Brandon Bodenhagen's writing style, well, he's the singer in Christiansen. Other than that, I'm using this thread to find cool bands, myself. Thanks for some of the rec's guys, lol. -
Don't expect all of their songs to be like like Nymphetamine. That, at least in my opinion, is their only really good song on their new album. I haven't heard their old stuff, but I heard that it was equally lackluster. Dani has an interesting voice, but it sounds bad live, and the band just doesn't seem that talented as a whole to me. It's more of an image thing in my eyes.

I Need Music Reccommendations - Instrumental
Goodbye, Face replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
Hmm, unorthodox instruments, techno, progessive rock = The Sound of Animals Fighting. http://www.purevolume.com/thesoundofanimalsfighting They are a 15 member supergroup, including the singer of Circa Survive, the original singer of Finch, a guitarist from RX Bandits, and the drummer from RX Bandits. This is just what I know. They play progressive music with emo-y vocals broken up by electronic interludes and long parts of pure instrumental. The mish-mash of all their songs put together and the full song they provide on PureVolume are bad examples of what I'm talking about. Have fun with it. -
Fine, fine. I'll do it again. With less typos, lol. 0722. Kylesa - "In Memory" [To Walk a Middle Course #01] [3:35] Basically, an awesome song from one of my favorite bands ever. If you haven't heard of them, and trust me, you're not alone, they're a cool Psychadelic Punk Metal band, well, that's how my genre-knowing friend labeled them. It's great background noise for homework or drawing. 0692. Chimaira - "Power Trip" [The Impossibility of Reason #04] [2:48] I just joined the Chimaira train recently. The Impossibility of Reason is the only cd I have from them, and it's very good. This song is one of the better ones, but my favorite is the first track. 1191. Lacuna Coil - "Entwined" [Comalies #10] [3:59] I love this band, another new favorite. This song is one of the better ones, I don't really know what else to say about it. Beautiful music if you haven't heard of them. 0952. He Is Legend - "Scram Toots" [91025 #02] [4:34] I love some of He Is Legend's song titles. This is my favorite song, at least on this cd. It starts like a regular rock song then goes into an insane breakdown and basically stays like that for the whole song. Very fun. You should see the mosh fights this song creates. 1392. Against Me! - "Turn Those Clapping Hands into Angry Balled Fists" [As the Eternal Cowboy #10] [4:46] Well, it's my favorite song on this cd, which isn't saying much. I heard some great Against Me! songs, but they aren't on this cd. Pity. 1447. Circle Takes the Square - "Same Shade as Concrete" [As the Roots Undo #02] [4:28] About time! This is my favorite band ever. Yay. It's great to wake up by. Every song is brilliant in its own way, I have trouble picking favorites on this cd, but this one is high on the list. If you like hardcore, this is the epitome of the genre to me. 1500. Jeer At Rome - Track One [The Prisoner (4 Song Release) (Downloaded) #01] [2:39] I know nothing about this band except for that Anthony Green of Crica Survive is the screamer, and it's the heaviest work he's done. I was told that this band was brand new, but it isn't, it's one of his first. You idiots. I recommend it if you liked the old Saosin. 1404. Eyes Upon Separation - "My Scarlet Season Turns Black" [Tribunal Records No. 50: A Collection Disc 2 #22] [2:59] A very old song from a band that, as far as I know, is a few years disbanded now. This is the only song I have from them and it's pretty ferocious, I might try to track down their cd when I win the lottery. 0766. I Would Set Myself On Fire For You - "The First Word That Comes To Mind" [I Would Set Myself On Fire For You #06] [7:01] The sound quality on this cd sucks, they are amazing live though. They have a viola player in their band, which is a nice touch. I recommend this band to fans of Circle Takes the Square and Kylesa, which is none of you. :p 0291. All That Remains - "This Darkened Heart" [This Darkened Heart #10] [3:13] Best. Metalcore. Band. Ever. I am becoming obssessed with this band. They need a new cd right NOW!!1 THis song is actually their single. You can watch it on Metal Asylum on Fuse. I like the drums in this song. :) The end...?

Writing White & DW: Uncut, Unedited, Unnecessary! [M-LV]

I Need Music Reccommendations - Instrumental
Goodbye, Face replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
I would like to recommend my favorite instrumental band, and one of my favorite bands in general, Canvas Solaris. They are an Instrumental Progressive Metal band which tries to convey the feeling of being in space through their music. Yeah, whatever. They're really amazing. They have two cd's on Tribunal Records. If you're interested I can hook you up with a song over AIM or something. -
I'm sure with great work such as yours, you get a lot of compliments of how great it is and how real it looks. Add another one to the list, then. My favorites are the Bite Out of Crime one, and the girl with the colorful hair. With "...Crime," it seriously looks like you photographed a person in grayscale, the person seems to pop out of the page, really great. As for the girl, I want that hairstyle, lol. Really great stuff man. Is there more on the way?

Yeah, I don't have a favorite game either. Just kidding. My favorite game is Vagrant Story for the Playstation. If you're not one of the three people who bought this game, you'd probably like to know that this game was made by Squaresoft late in the PS1's life. It was basically a dungeon-crawling Adventure game where you play as a crazy-haired guy named Ashley Riot. He plays a role known as a Riskbreaker, one who goes on covert missions with a high death rate for little more than the sheer adrenaline boost that comes from fighting for your life. The covert ops plus the game's in-game cinematics put it in direct competition with Metal Gear Solid. The game had both a comic book feel and a gothic feel to it. It simply makes you feel cool just for playing it. Sidney Lossatarot, the game's psuedo-villian, is one of my favorite characters out of any game. He goes back and forth between being helpful and messing with your head. Plus, the creature-summoning and the Wolverine-esque claws make him quite the badass. The combat system was another one of the main positives for this game, it consisted of equipping a fully-customized weapon (consisting of different handles, blades, and gems) and pressing the circle button when you see an enemy on the screen. When you do this, the game shows Ashley's range through the use of a blue wireframe sphere, any enemies within the circle can be attacked. You can select different body parts to attack, for the most part, it doesn't mater much. After your first attack hits, you must rythmically tap buttons that are equipped with different attacks to continue the chain of attacks. As you do this, your Risk meter goes up. As your Risk goes up, so does your attack, but your accuracy will suffer. The game is very deep overall, and is very enjoyable. Those who have it cherish it, those who don't usually want it after having it described to them.

This is a great memory. Let me start by saying that I have a friend, Ty, who is a really bad pyromaniac. He does know how to play it smart, though. He always brings fire blankets and coolers of ice water if the need arises. So, me and Ty... and some other people... were bored two Winters ago. We set up ramps a few feet away from eachother and planned to skateboard around, ollie-ing from ramp to ramp. Ty brought up the idea of a box of newspaper and firewood in between them. We placed it in the middle and we each ollied over to see if we could all make it. Ty then lights it on fire. He goes first, Hunter goes, then it was my turn. I lost control of the board and landed with both feet in the box of fire. Whitnee took a picture of me engulfed in flames, which she has somewhere, and then Ty, Hunter, KC, and Andy jumped on me, smothering me with fire blankets. My pants were nice and crispy, but I didn't suffer any real burns. There's some parts of my legs where the hair hasn't grown back yet, lol.

I'm a fan of the Faber Castel inking pens. They have felt tips, varying sizes, and one of those sizes includes a brush tip. I find that one particularly useful, as it creates some beautiful lines if you learn how to use it right. As for inking technique, I'm afraid I don't do any manga at all, so I rarely ever use thick lines. I apply light pressure and draw thin lines to begin with. The more shadows in the area, the more I go over the line with curves, then I take my tiny pen and crosshatch lightly to blend the black in with the white. I never press down hard at all, I can barely feel the paper under my pen, which is supposedly good technique. Other pens... I've tried Sakuras, as well as Zip Milleniums, I disliked both. The Sakura pens I got seemed to run out of ink almost immediately. With the .005 Zip pen, I tilted it sideways to draw and the tip snapped off and a bit of ink ran down the page. Thus, I don't use them anymore, I just stuck with the next pen brand I got, which was Faber Castell, and haven't had a problem since. I'm afraid I don't have a light box. Sometimes I turn my scanner on and use the light from that to trace my sketch. Sometimes I just print out the piece and ink over it, sometimes I just ink over the sketch. It kind of depends on the importance of what I'm doing.

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2005 (Nominations Thread)
Goodbye, Face replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
Dragon Warrior Without Gav, I probably wouldn't have ever come back here in the first place. He started up the OB Game Makers Thread, which led to me rejoining. My first post, as far as I know, was there. Since then, Gavin has made some of the most entertaining threads here. Generic NPC #3 Tony is the man, you can't deny it. Don't even try. He always seems to be knowledgable in every conversation he's in, providing strong opinions without ever seeming overbearing. My head has been reset gently on my shoulders a few times by him, I can tell you that. Plus, he made Group Sounds, which was a terrific place while it lasted. :bdance: Yes, the Baron Dance. An inside joke from Group Sounds localized here. It was officially my idea, John made it, ...someone localized it (I don't know whether or not I can say who), and Goddess popularized it. Good work, team! Sorry, Baron. Next on the list is the Emo Dance! -
Hmm, yeah, might as well list my favorites... Choke by Chuck Palahniuk, a story about a sexaholic who pays for his dying mother's hospital bills by pretending to choke on his food at diners, then recieving money in birthday cards recieved by his so-called heroes. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, yes, it's the book that the movie stemmed from, it's another one of Chuck's best. Dragonsong by Anne McCaffery. A side-story of the Dragonriders of Pern series where a musician discovers some fire lizards and adopts them as pets. Trust me on this one. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, you'll probably have to read this at school at some point, if you haven't already. It's a fun story about this angsty boy's misadventures in a city and how he winds up in an asylum. Glad to be of service.

I love my Thought Police font, I use it a lot, especially on myO. It also has another "unarmed" version, which is the barcode without the little numbers at the bottom. I'm a proud user of Cocaine Sans, lol. It's not that useful, but it's great for typing my name with on essays. I never use CMCorruged, I actually just noticed it, so I'm going to use it for something soon, lol. Bones Bummer is my handwriting font, I use it to type my poems in, usually. I used to type everything in Schindler Small Caps last year, I changed to Trebuchet MS and Century Gothic this year. Tootache is pretty badass, I lurve it. Goes great with all those evil brushes and photos I use. Scary Monsters and Riot Act kind of go hand in hand, they're fun. one8seven, yes, that's what it says, is my graffiti font. It has the insignia of every gang known to man in it. Fun to use with a ridiculous outer glow on a brick wall. And of course, Trebuchet MS, which I type on forums with. Yay.
-
This last year was an average year for me, I guess if anything particularly came out of it, I changed quite a bit. Definitely for the better. I got betrayed by a friend in the spring, but I'm kind of glad it happened, I've been able to get closer with my other friends without her around. I also had two violent breakdowns this summer which inspired a few postive changes in me. Overall, while 2005 wasn't particularly great, I'm glad it happened. I've met a lot of people, online and off, that I'm honored to be friends of.

Yeah, what he said. Basically, there's these three potheads who leave America to go on a trip through Eurasia looking for hot foreign women. Basically, half of the movie is a porno. Then,
Pakistan's friends start to disappear, and he gets wrapped up in this mess of what is essentially a creepy pay-for-pleasure killing game which is supposed to be a metaphor for prostitution or something.
Basically, it's a cool idea, it's certainly different, but it's unenjoyable. My face is stuck in a cringing expression from doing so for two hours straight. Seriously, the movie in itself was ok, but it's just... unsettling. It's not a happy experience, but an interesting one. Blatantly, don't see it unless you're turned on by severed limbs, etc.
And may I ask, what exactly is a "Hostel"?
Hostels (or youth hostels) provide short term accommodation to travelers. In a hostel you rent a bed (usually a bunk-bed) in a dormitory and share common bathroom, kitchen, and lounge rooms. Private rooms are often available. The main benefit of a hostel is that you get to meet other travelers from all over the world. They are usually less formal and less expensive than hotels. They are most frequently used by young travelers. In the past many hostels had imposed age limits, but today it's more common for hostels to accept guests of all ages. In certain parts of the world, hostels are commonly called "backpackers", particularly Australia and New Zealand. Though hostels provide great opportunity for multi-cultural enlightenment, there are some potential drawbacks to using them. Theft can be a problem since guests share a common living space. For this reason most hostels offer some sort of system for safely storing your valuables, and many offer private lockers. Although reasonably rare, it is possible to end up in a bed or room that has been infested with some kind of parasite such as bedbugs. A less worrisome but more commonly experienced drawback to staying in hostels is difficulty sleeping because of noise, whether it's from someone snoring or someone returning to the room after a late night out on the town. For this reason, having earplugs with you may be a good idea when staying in hostels. Some hostels also allow long-term residency to local transients/homeless/ailing persons with no other resources. Traditionally hostels offered housing at no cost in exchange for doing hosuework; this is far less common in modern day, but many hostels employ their long-term residents as desk clerks (etc...) in exchange for free housing. Many hostels belong to Hostelling International (HI), a nonprofit organization composed of more than 90 associations representing about 4000 hostels in over 80 countries. Hostelling International was formerly called the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF). And yeah, I'm seeing this movie today. I was hooked from the moment I saw the previews for it when watching Aeon Flux. I was told by my friend, who saw it last night, that it was great. I have a feeling I'll like it, but I feel a little intimidated by it, lol. I forsee a few Killwhitneydead quotes coming from this movie, lol. Anyways, I'll let you all know what I think about it after I see it tonight.

I never say "I love you" unless I really mean it, or if they say it first. Me and one of my friends made a vow to not say we love eachother ever again unless we fell back in love, lol. It got us into some trouble last year. As far as the word "love" losing its effect, I can't say that's entirely true. For me being loved is pretty much the highest honor I can recieve, some people in this very thread know this by now, heh. And if knowing whether a random "I love you" is true is a problem, you need to know these people better before you even think about love. :-/
