That thread's not bad at all compared to some others that were around at the time. Before that was a deluge of hang-out RPG's that started with the Dating Game. No dating went on after like the first five pages. It got deleted and Final Flash made Otaku Island, which was a compromise, it failed. It became a spam-fest. A thread that embarasses me a little is Zoids Tournament, which I made. It got deleted... two years ago...? Anyways, it was made fairly well, but some new members came in, double-triple... quadruple posted and it fell out of my hands and got deleted and I was basically shunned out of RPG's and made fun of in a Sticky. That was great. I'm trying to think of a good one that is still around, I guess the Favorite Sock Thread takes the cake. I wasn't around at the time, too bad. It's a good representation of James, Sara, Sephiroth, and others were at the start of OB3.

What are you going to be for halloween?
Goodbye, Face replied to Starr112's topic in General Discussion
Me and some friends are going to be a gang of really done-up goths. You know, chains, five belts, hats, capes, pimp sticks, all black, glasses, at night. It'll be great. I still need the cape. My parents are notorious for having the most decorated house in the neighborhood, people come from out of state to see us. This year we're doing some sort of radioactive theme, lots of fog and people with their skin melted off. Oh yes. I have a costume for that as well, for when we get home from trick-or-treating. I think my friends are going to have costumes and hang out with us as well. I can't wait to blast sound effects out of my computer. -
I like this thread. :) Vocals: Anthony Green (Saosin, Circa Survive, The Sound of Animals Fighting) -or Shawn "Dr Extremus Melodicus" Pelata (Line of Fire, extra vocals on a couple of KILLWHITNEYDEAD songs) Guitar 1: Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria) Guitar 2: Drew "Drewcifer" Speziale (Circle Takes the Square) Guitar 3: Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta, At the Drive In) Bass: Laura ______ (Kylesa) Drums: Blake Richardson (Glass Casket) Pure prog-rock bliss. Too bad this band would self destruct in a month. Anthony would give up and go back to one of his hundreds of side-projects. Drew would shave Claudio's hair in his sleep. Cluadio would get pissed off and leave as all of his fans commit suicide, and the ones that remain would struggle to find new members and eventually die out. Oh well, that's why there's this thread.

I would love a red DS, that would seal the deal for me... if I felt like oweing my father another $200+. I also really like Mario Kart, so that's a plus. I'm kind of curious of Nintendogs, and I like Teal, but I'd rather get the red bundle... if one exists. It'd make a good Christmas present, along with that Viewtiful Joe game.

Moody in highschool... how regular are YOUR breakdowns?
Goodbye, Face replied to Skye's topic in General Discussion
I had a few problems this year, things that have never happened to me before. A month ago I had a blackout in the middle of class. I don't know the details, but I completely erased a day out of my life, all I remember is a ride home after around 11AM and then relaxing in bed, I didn't remember school at all. I talked to a counselor and she said that it was basically a lot of built up stress and angst. I went right back to school and the people who knew about it wouldn't stop asking me questions and I just ignored them. I learned who my friends were in a way. I had two large mental breakdowns both today and yesterday. A reason left with some vagueness, since certain people read it, is in my myO if you care. Basically, I'm dealing with my best friend giving up on herself and doing things that are bringing me down with her. So I gave up in a different way. I had a fight with several of my best friends today and I called them all up and apologized a few hours ago. Before that was this summer, when my father called me a 'f---ing failure.' I couldn't deal with it, I ran away from home and actually slept outside near a street. I spent a week at a friend's house and my parents eventually found me. Sorry for being 'emo' about this, but well, this topic suits me perfectly today. -
I don't really mind living here at all, however, we have one of the highest murder rates in the world, don't we? I see things on TV about Canadians not being in fear of eachother to the point where they don't even lock their doors. If you don't keep you door locked here, your stuff is as good as stolen. I think we walk around in USA like 'Am I going to die today?' because of things like this. The drivers are bad, the people are generally ignorant of eachother, and people are afraid to try things that aren't the norm. Those are the problems I see... you know, without going into politics. It seems that our country doesn't have an open mind to anything, gay marriage is as good as banned, and now there's a war on porn, what?! One country attacks us and we're taking over the whole middle east because of it. Oh, did I mention that we built a city under sea level and put all of our gas there? WTF? I'd like to live somewhere else, but you don't really know what it's like unless you travel to other countries, and I don't have that opportunity.

Harry Potter Every Flavor Beans
Goodbye, Face replied to Howlingvampire4's topic in General Discussion
I never saw the appeal in eating an earwax-flavored jellybean. These seem to have gone away for a short while here, then all of a sudden they came back last month. How odd, I didn't see any until just recently, before that, I was comparing the grass jellybean to actual grass in sixth grade. The only real novelty in these is the name. Other than that, the only enjoment you really get is finding a way to put the bad ones in a good bag of jellybeans, you know, so that the next person who wants a peach jellybean gets vomit or earwax instead. -
My problems have ceased, if anything, it's going faster than it was before. I guess this means that the new server got its shiny metal *** in gear?

A) I dislike the way people tend to pick apart a post and go for a single sentence or a single word and viciously attack the author over it. However, it still feels better getting called out here than at say... Something Awful's boards where you say the wrong thing and 5000 people respond with pictures mocking you and posts saying little more than "you suck," and with any luck, your thread ends up in the Comedy Goldmine. ^_^ Thus, this place is better at being negative than anywhere else. Some new skins would be nice though, even though Liquid just got updated and they're hard to make. B) I love the staff here. I enjoy them being easily approacable and friendly, and not some pissed off kid living in his grandma's attic switching between his forums and Counter-Strike (or maybe... nah...). I also like the members that have taken the time to say hi to me, I've met some awesome people through this place that are apparently planning to visit me, lol. Everyone here has their own distinct personality, from Sage's bluntness to Gavin's catchphrase he begins 99% of his posts with. It isn't just a website full of people that hate eachother, although some of the debate topics get quite spiteful. I guess that's it.

Please don't tell me that you have to save up to buy a $30 game console. Go to the store and get the PS2 now! Well, make sure it plays both blue discs and clear ones, ha. However, I am very happy with my shiny, new, thin PStwo. On some games the graphics are noticably, but not incredibly, better. It's also great to be able to go back and actually play PS1 games on it, since I couldn't play them on my PS2 for several years. I've been tagging back and forth between Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga and Vagrant Story for the past few weeks. The PSP started out great, but now it's kind of dead, so that's your descision, I sold mine to pay for my PStwo after it kicked the bucket recently. And just to say something on topic, I adored FFX-2 but didn't enjoy FFX that much. I don't know why I didn't like it, I guess it just hit the wrong nerves or something, then again, I've only played through it once.

Last September I was probably kicking some *** in Disgaea and Phantom Brave, as well as continuing to sell my soul to Soul Calibur II and DDRMAX/2/Extreme. The sad thing is, I've yet to beat Disagea or Phantom Brave, as I level a team up, then get interested in another character class, level him up, and so forth, while never actually moving forward story-wise. If I was playing any GameCube games at the time, it'd be Viewtiful Joe or Megaman, as I haven't bought any worthwhile games (save Joe) until this year. I think I remember finally beating Shenmue for the DreamCast sometime before Thanksgiving. Aside from that, I'm not really sure, as I barely remember what I did last week, let alone last year. :animesigh

Reading this discussion, I went through five "timed out" errors, this was happening Thursday before I left. I was talking to James at the time and he gave me a big *shrug*. So, I hope this clears up, as I can't even view my myO, I can look at my backroom though. Every time I've attempted to view my page I've gotten a "time out" error or it sits there with my background on the screen and refuses to continue loading.

Which songs have the funniest or most interesting lyrics?
Goodbye, Face replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
I'm saddened by the fact that after this many posts, no one has brought up Between the Buried and Me's silly lyrics. This is "Anablephobia" from their cd The Silent Circus Clowns now appear. They are all carrying knives and cups of gasoline. "Tonight is our death." The clowns then begin to slash each other...the skies open up, the flames pour in...the world watched in awe. MESMERIZED. The populations soon follow the clown's lead. Death is in the air. The three adults once again start talking...they ask questions of faith and love. "We shall live past these days, rid of all we've done." I see what they mean now...but the wretched smell has overcome...I am gone...THE BABY BORN WITH THE END OF THE WORLD...Awake... The five of us haven't spoken in hours. Sitting alone to our own thoughts. Only we will know what strange things boredom has created. Good music, though, don't let their ridiculous lyrics stop you from listening to them metal/hardcore heads! :) -
I'm going on a trip tomorrow and I messed up both the dates and grammar to the calendar event I made for it. So... is there any way to edit this that I'm not seeing? If not, there should be. EDIT: ...and the typo's keep on coming, read my sig. I'm happy I got this post through, my connection keeps timing out.

I am usually a very calm guy, last year was a really bad year for me though. I think if I've ever truly lost it, it would have been last year. This guy actually tried to light my pants on fire last year, and that's only half of it. Aside from that incident and a few that followed, I'm exactly on par with James. People come up to me and picks fights with me because I've taken several forms of Karate and even Fencing. They don't seem to get the fact that learning Karate makes you not want to fight people. I'd rather just bottle it up and release it on paper when I get home. Whether it be a poem or a piece of art, it always gets rid of the anger right away.

I've always had this opinion about RPG's. You base your rating on what age group of people you want in it. [M] being 17+, [PG] being 13-17, and [G] being 12 and under. I would think less of what the actual content is and decide on which kind of people you want to join the RPG, and base it around that. Most RPG's don't involve detailed sex scenes or even violence equating that which you'd see in an R-rated movie. Most people use the [M] rating because they equate age with posting skill. They don't want a new member jumping in and ruining things (I'll apply this loosely). Instead of raising the rating, make the players audition for it instead, many RPG creators already do this. This way, you get your lower rating and no riff-raff. :)

I've only seen one girl use a messenger bag, so I've always assumed it was the guys' version of a purse. I own two messenger bags, a Bloodjinn one, and a much older Senses Fail one. I've never really found a practical way to use them for school, as I usually have like two notebooks and two textbooks. They make great binder-and-deck carriers if you're at a Magic the Gathering tournament or something, that's about all I use them for. Also, if you're going to rock da messenger bag, you need a matching hat.

Favorite: Anthony Green The ex-lead singer of Saosin and new lead singer of Circa Survive and The Sound of Animals Fighting. He has the highest male vocal range I've heard, every note he sings gets compared to Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, but I think Anthony trounces him in every way. He's an amazing singer with a... beautiful... voice and a good screamer, even though he doesn't do so in Circa Survive. Here's some choice lyrics: Purely curteous across her chest. Are you cutting me out now after crawling inside? Turn away your head, What do I deserve instead? It's a surprise you haven't caught on yet. It's nothing personal, you're an embarrassment. Don't cut me out. Least Favorite: Cattle Decapitation's singer... and the rest of the band. I've only heard two songs, and I think that not hearing anymore might have saved my life. The guy, I haven't bothered to look up his name, does this really fast metal growl to really fast, chatoic music which ends up making it sound like he's regurgitating into his mic for seven minutes. Download Polyps for a laugh, I thought it was funny the first time, but it used to be after Between the Buried and Me in my playlist, so I'd accidentally hear some of it after the cd finished. Yikes!
I reckon i've done the impossible when it comes to final fantasy games: I've completed VII WITHOUT a memory card!! I took up the challenge on the back of the manual. the advert for memory cards, it says on it "try beating VII without it". so I did. apart from vivi, IX had the worst characters, they all sucked, had crap dialogue, and just, looked wierd. Steiners armor clanking all the time, along with quina's stupid toungue and zidanes tail... *shudder*
Go to GameFAQs, you'd be surprised what people have accomplished and actually wrote strategies for. Try beating the game without saving AND without using materia. I couldn't do it, I got beaten by the beast in the cave that you get Trine from and had to start over. Also, I really like FFIX, sure, the story wasn't that hot, but it had solid gameplay and some of the best minigames in the series. I've probably played FFIX the most out of all of the FF's, possibly combined. We're talking beating the game 15+ times, shortest time being 11 hours and the longest somewhere in the 200's. I still play the version of Tetra Master that came with Final Fantasy XI, I'm ranked somewhere in the 80's I think, only like 3,000 people play it.

Well, my reaction is definitely a positive one. The controller sounds like something ripped right out of the future. If anything, I'd hate to see the cost of a second/third/whatever controller, plus the extra periphials. I wouldn't mind it too much, since they're so cool. I think that the X360 and PS3 need to pull some crazy stunts to get people (namely me) to care about them right now. As far as I can see now, this would be the system I would get if I were faced with the choice right now. It's a really cool idea. Now if I had a hologram projector, or a helmet that reads brainwaves, then I'd be in gaming heaven.
Part of the reason I lost all the time is that I could never put two and two together and realise which of my cards worked well as a combo. But Psychatog? I seem to remember owning one, but Traumatise was in my Blue [/color']deck. No Psychatogs for me.
Aha, so your deck was all blue? It's hard to make a good blue deck without spending an incredible amount of money. Basically it comes down to this: you can stop your opponent from doing damage to you all day... so how are you going to beat him? Blue is the worst color by itself, unless we're talking way back in the early days of Magic, where blue had both the strongest spells and some of the cooler creatures. I had a good deck built around Mirrodin a while back that was nothing but artifacts and blue cards mixed in. I won a t1 tournament using a deck based around the following: Isochron Scepter attached to a Vision Charm. Basically, you could stop your opponent from playing stuff by turning all of his forests into swamps or something, and if you felt like winning, you would draw and play more of this combo and swipe 16 cards off of his deck each turn. Of course, ample counterspells are a must to protect your scepters, but you're playing a blue deck, no problems there. The whole deck in total (without lands of course) ran me about $5. It wasn't anything major, and it's worth a shot if you feel like kicking some ***. Oh, and your Traumatize would work great here, even though I didn't use one.
-
I feel really bad about this, but I really don't know if I've ever heard a Judas Priest song. I'm just getting into actual metal (as opposed to Hardcore) and I've been listening to newer bands. I do know that I love Iron Maiden, having like four of their cd's. Thus, my vote is for Iron Maiden.
-
Too true, even with my theoretically kickin' Blue deck with the card that made my opponent discard half his deck.
Traumatize? You're supposed to use that on yourself, and then demolish your opponent with a Psychatog.

Jake, I am personally offended by this list! >:O (But I enjoyed every minute of it) I especially like: 052) Name your hardcore dance moves things like "The Mother ****" or "Kick That Guy's *** Move" or better yet... stay home and cry. 068) Crying on stage makes you a professional. Those were cool. I can't wait to see one about Emo or something, that'd be something to make fun of. :)
-
As much as I love Power Metal... well, thank you Jake... You've definitely made my night. I don't think I listen to anything involving dragons or D&D though, I'll look up the lyrics to them tomorrow, I'm kind of interested. Oh, and aren't tight pants more of an Emo thing? Oh well, they totally stole it from Power Metal. Now I know.
