Shinichiro Watanabe and Miyazaki's work is artistically among my favourites. But my favourite anime director has to be Shinichi Watanabe AKA Nabeshin, for his shameless self-insertation in to excel saga.

I really don't know what you're talking about. Everyone in my year at school is an anime fan and several in other years ( plus some teachers). Even though I live in reading, which isn't a particularly big town we have a great anime shop, and I never really have a problem getting a hold of what I want. SUre the releases are a little later, but you can always download them and buy the dvds later.

The series was short but with the OVA now official, theres more to come.

The power i'd like is the power to be inconspicous at will, not invisible or camoflaged, but so that no one who sees you thinks you shouldn't be doing whatever you are. Invisibility has so many problems, if your wet, if theres a lot of dust etc, but I fail to see any such things here. Also a 200kg force grip.....

You certainly have the right to comment, but are they really asking in the right place? I mean this is a forum for anime fans, by definition geeks and therefore not necessarily the best people to ask about relationships. I definatly wouldn't ask me for help.

Writing HELLSING Review for my school newspaper (M)
Leofski replied to Dragonboym2's topic in Creative Works
I'm not sure whether fanfic is the most effective form of review, though they say imitation is the best form of flattery. In addition, Anderson isn't Irish. He's scottish, but Alucard first encounters him in Ireland. -
Writing Has anyone read the book Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde?
Leofski replied to Tommy Vercetti's topic in Creative Works
If you enjoy Jekyll and Hyde, try reading the picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Its fairly similar in terms of style and very enjoyable. However if you have trouble with 19th century english, don't even try. -
Some korean manga is also very good, though i can only think of priest off the top of my head.
-
it's still running, and up to volume 5 in english. I don't know whether it'sfinished in japanese or not. probably not.

A significant portion of you won't know what I'm talking about but has anyone else manged to get Reading festival tickets? PIxies, Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden headlining, so it should be great. Any opinions?

the serious implication of the case is not what would happen to current users but the precedent it would set if MGM won, allowing any legitimate system that could be used by pirates to have action taken against it in the future. Since this means almost anything online, the possibilities are enormous.

The manga is definatly even more fun than the anime. I don't really understand your problem with the accents, it helps add character and I don't really find it any harder to read. Volume 5 is just as good, get it as soon as you can. Its a shame they could include dawn, the prequel with Walter, Alucard and the Nazis during WWII, in the later volumes as an extra.

A weaker chapter than the previous offerings. I understand that it's meant to take it off the boil and be a bit different to the rest, but it doesn't feel connected to the rest. I also know your trying to be william gibson.

Traditionally, the seven deadly sins are not one-way tickets to hell, if you are christian and repent your sins before you die you pass on to purgatory where you must spend time working off your sins before entering Heaven ( the best description i've read is Dante's Purgatorio ).In addition, Non-Christians and the unbaptised travel to the highest circle of hell, in which there is no punishment other than the denial of Heaven. In my view, original sin is another way of saying that, although babies may be without spiritual fault, they are also without credit and are therefore denied Heaven. Harsh perhaps, but there is a certain logic to it. Why non-christians are barred from Heaven is perhaps more complex. God created and loves us all, yet even the most virtuous non-christian cannot enter Heaven. It could be argued that heaven is the domain of God and hence only his followers can enter it, yet if virtue is the primary prerequisite to go to Heaven and God loves everyone, I fail to see why they cannot enter, though it is not my place to criticise it.

Has anyone read the papers today? I quote from The Times: "The U.N yesterday passed a resolution that only those proven to be proper pirates would be allowed to run for government in any member country. This means that, despite spending several weekends on Bluebeard's private ship, Tony Blair will be unable to run this summer. When asked about this unexpected policy announcement Kofi Annan 's spokesperson said: "The Secretary-General has often stated that pirates are the best. In the wake of the American election, the UN thought that it would be better if all candidates had shady pasts and dubious political beliefs." In addition, no one seems to have brought up these quotes from Genesis: "And on the 8th day, God created pirates. the pinnacle of creation. He looked and them and say that they were the best, then went off to have a cup of tea." "And the pirates did rise up and smite the cowboys, and God spoke unto the captain of the pirates "Cowboys are rubbish, just like superheros. I shall send i mighty flood to drown them, but thou shalt be saved, since J00 r0x0r and have ships", and the captain was confused, as he had no idea what a superhero was, but was grateful to the Lord for his salvation". I think this is conclusive evidence that pirates are better.

For me, reding is a very expensive habit (I finished the great Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell in two days), so as it's half term I'm not reading as much as usual (no one to borrow books off). However, I've started reading a few of Tom Holt's book, The Potable Door and In Your Dreams, which read similarly to Pratchett might, if he wrote regularly in contemperary setting. Neuromancer is brilliant. It's one of those books though, where having read it, a lot of things no longer seem original (in this case, particularly The Matrix)

no one seems to have mentioned James Camerons forthcoming battle angel alita film. That should be interesting,a manga made into a live action film by a western director.
-
They also seem to have changed it a lot from the original comic, so fans of that are bound to be disappointed. (As i remember Reeves can't act, so that will be interesting, since it might have a good plot).

You appear to be missing one of the key factors of the pirate's greatness: the versatility of the stereotype. On one hand the variety of characters, one can fit within the pirate bracket is greater than any other, the nefarious villain, the dashing hero, the clumsy drunkard, the strongman and many more can all have permutations classified as pirates. In addition, pirates have agreat range of motivations behind them. Superheroes always have the troubled past, philanthropy or revenge motivations, while pirates can be motivated by anything, from moneyto impressing a girl ( you can't do that with a secret identity), sticking it to the man to freeing the people from tyranny. The wide range of options for a pirate also means that a single figure can fit several of these options at the same time, as well as switching between being a comic, serious, heroic, villainous and tragic character throughout his or her story. Another advantage is the pirate's costume. It's cool. A superhero on the other hand is practically required to wear spandex, which is, to be fair, more than a little bit gay. Several historical figures also liked pirates. Henry VIII said " Pirates are t3h r0x0r" at his coronation. This is a view echoed by several modern political figures. In an early encyclical letter, Piratus est awesomus, expressed his respect for pirates, while earlier this month, Nelson Mandela said in a speech "I reckon pirates are probably the best people ever". Vladimir Putin says Blackbeard is his leading influence. In conclusion, pirates are the best

Manga Whisper: YET ANOTHER manga I'm working on
Leofski replied to Readordie's topic in Otaku Central
it sounds completly unlike anything else, which is cool. I assume you don't meant mean home collage. I've never seen anyone come out of a piece of art. ( sorry about the spelling thing, it's a problem I have.) -
whatever you think of the series though, with shonen jump promoting it heavily, it's bound to take off. After all, as well as the anime, there are 2 games of the series currently in development and the trading card license has been sold. I don't see why you find the anime so objectionable, but since I haven't read the manga, Ican't really judge it.

Manga im making my own manga but i need some help!
Leofski replied to soulreaper's topic in Otaku Central
more impotantly what do you want to do with those characters? You can't have a manga without a story. -
I've read up to volume 4, and it certainly gets weirder as it goes on. but it's a we.ll drawn manga wih a good story.
-
I haven't read the manga but the anime, although amusing, did more than a little too stupid at times.
