Yay! Slackers in Slacks is back! I love it! You know you brough it back just for me right? I'm sure you didn't, but I'll believe that anyway. I loved all of them and like the recent one but for sure my favorites so far as "It's-a-me" and "Laugh out loud". It had me thinking of an idea that you've never done one that involves OB. I think that would be pretty fun to see, especially if different members were portrayed. Anyways, keep 'em coming!

Ever saw an anime which left you thinking or shocked at the ending? One that broke the stereotypes of the typical ecchi or harem story with the innocent cutsie girl leading as head characters with the common punns and nosebleeds from perverted old men? Well then list atleast three here and please state why and what reasons you still remember why they seem to have changed how you view anime. Paradise Kiss:It was obviously the first time I heard about an anime being about a fashion company and model for me. I decided to check it out, the opening song was definately gorgeous so I went for it. At first, I instantly didn't favor the artistic style of the characters, they seemed too choppy in some parts and the beginning where they added in real life objects seemed tasteless to me. Once I watched the first four episodes though, I really fell in love with the struggle of the main character Yukari "Caroline" and her plight to make it somewhere in her life. I especially love the scene
where Caroline decides to run away from home and drop out of highschool, since I've never seen that in an anime before where family is derived as extremely important (atleast from what I know of asian countries it is) and school is seen as something very serious. This shows someone very human and not the typical obsessive happy or depressed character.
At first I began thinking, what would she do then? But then I remembered that people given the chance, will find a way to survive on their own. This was very ground breaking for me because I felt Caroline acted like an actual human in her situation, that life is not
doing what society tells you is right for you, such as going to school and going to college. College is not for everybody. Another amazing thing was, for once, the couple Yukari and George did not end up together. She decided to stay for her career, which normally it usually is as Isabella says "A woman's happiness is giving up everything for love".
Neon Genesis Evangelion: I know this is an older anime that almost everyone has seen already but it doesn't hide the fact that this anime has broken a lot of standards in mecha for me. First,
Shinji is a depressed boy, the idea of him being the one to save humanity is ironic.
Second,
there is actually not a very clear ending, seeing as how there was a movie made (even though I technically haven't seen it, yet), but from what I hear it doesn't give you an actual clear ending on what happens to humanity.
This could be due that it was written by a man suffering from depression himself. However,
I love how there were many secrets kept from the children and even Misato herself until almost the end.
It might be old today, but for back when it was made I think it definately was one of a kind. Scrapped Princess:While I don't think its one of the biggest "revolutionary" animes or most popular, I definately think that it really helped make it unpredictable especially when
you find out that she is going to be killed simply so that people do not find out the truth. The fact that they are living in only a small piece of the world and being controlled, kind of reminds me of the matrix.
While it could be viewed as a copy of that particular movie, I still love the concept of humans not knowing what is happening to them and only by a prodigy will they ever find out. While its not the most creative idea, it was the first type I've seen in an anime before. That's what stood out for me.

I think many people can agree with me on one thing, and that is Otakuboards has amazing posting quality and more mature members then most anime related forums. The funny thing about OB, seems to be that the Anime & Manga lounge are not even the most popular parts of the forum, instead most people seem to lean towards the other categories, such as The Arena, Art Studio or the Otaku Lounge. There are even people that I know, that are here that don't like anime. It really attracts a variety of people, therefore making it more interesting. I use to post at places such as Minitokyo and AnimeOnline where I met lots of people, yet the conversation would go stale and the same boring topics like "Whats your favorite anime?" kept popping up and people were spamming for a post count. While I liked that you had a userpage at MT, I didn't like the forum and since I'm not that artistic it left me with little to do. AO was great, until the owner left and a new one replaced him, ever since then it was full of spam and people who couldn't even spell the word grammar. Ever since then, I came here and haven't been discouraged yet. I don't see OB going anywhere, anytime soon.
It's probably not letting you connect the new one because you've still got your old account linked. If the current connection info was cleared out of your OB profile, however, I think it should let the new connection go through. I can do that for you if you'd like.
Your probably right. I tried to figure out a way to disconnect my old one, but I had no luck. If you could do it for me, that would help out a lot! I never seem to get the hand of myotaku, anyways my new one is www.myotaku.com/pumpkiness. Thank you for your help.

She has long dark brunette hair that runs almost to her knees, with emerald eyes, and stands about 5'8" with a frail figure. Pari, is mostly seen wearing dresses, especially a dark pine green one which sleeves run to her elbows and the bottom almost touches the ground. She also is seen always wearing a goden scarf around her neck. It is obvious that she is not the most althetic person in the world. Hmm..alright let's see. I just started a new myotaku account since my last one my password had been randomly changed and I couldn't get a response that could help me get my account back. That's fine. So I make a new one. Now it won't let me attach it to my otakuboards account. Do I just have bad luck or what? Or did they not fix this bug already? Because I remember people talking about this happening before, but all it says is "Error, contact the administrator" which hasn't helped me much in the past. Help anyone?

Sorry guys for the long reply! I want to thank Cancer, eclair, and SunfallE for their hard work in making me excellent banners and finding such great images as well. I will be sure to use all of them, unfortunately I've run into a little problem. I've lately have fallen in love with the anime Paradise Kiss and wish I had made this request instead since it would have been easier with the images and all. Even though I love the banners that I received from you guys. I will definately use your banners, but in the meantime if anyone could give it a shot (if your bored, otherwise don't bother ^^) would be able to make me a set of this image? With my name on the avatar and and on the banner "lonely in gorgeous tears" and on the side my name as well. I would appreciate it but otherwise don't bother if its too much work. Thank you!

Another tough choice. Dragon Warrior: Baby eating, now who else could come up with something such as that? I also love the bad reviews on the advertisement, creative. However, I have to agree with keyblade wielder that it seems a bit clustered to me and might be hard to draw your attention to the main pieces. There just might be too much to look at. White: I love the blue banana, maybe I just love fruits or what but the colors look amazing especially the striped background. The fonts and image really seem to blend well as if with the specific blue and yellow theme, the reviews are also neatly proportioned. Only thing that I could point out wrong with it would be the above text is pretty plain but even that I find suits it well. So basically I have to agree with keyblade wielder on this one....My vote goes for White based on the overall theme.

Ahhh..this will be a tough decision. Both pieces I find look great! Dragon Warrior: I know we're not suppose to focus on the words, but I love how you put the slogan on the side (like we can't see it happening, no one can say it's a spoiler), and the font on the top definately resembles the one used in the Harry Potter books. The image is a little wacky but that goes with the theme you seem to have about the next book and adds a bit of comedy to it (I also love the I'm Ron guy in the background). The only thing that I could say would need improvement is that the background doesn't give much away and is a bit blurry. Cancer: I love the colors, especially the top ones that are glowing. It gives it an eerie feeling and the wavy lines give it a dramatic effect. The harry potter character in the back also looks very realistic like the real harry potter, I love how he is just standing there with a blank expression on his face. However, I don't know if I like in particular the grass and main character, it seems to bland and plain for my style. My vote goes to...Dragon Warrior, simply because the characters and background seemed a bit more detailed.

Sorry you guys! I've been so busy I forgot to post the sign up results. It took me a long while to think which two out of all you guys...but I finally did it. Great job to all of you. Accepted Aizen SunfallE The List Aizen SunfallE Kura Sin Illusion Sorry to those who didn't get in, I probably didn't think your sign up suited the storyline as well as others. But I still liked each and everyone of them, it was a hard decision. This RPG should be posted up by saturday at the latest. Aizen, be sure to fill out your character snippet before then, thanks. See you all in Caldroth!

Art Otaku Television [Open For Discussion]
Pumpkin replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
It's funny because I was just thinking about something like this after browsing through youtube. After much thought, I would think a radio show would be much easier then a web cam seeing as how not everyone has one and that it would take a lot to upload (unless live which would be a lot more stressful). However, I really love this idea and glad it came up. I think a weekly radio show would be perfect, a great example would be this in which a radio station simply uses winamp. If we were to do something like this, I'd definately could see myself doing an advice-like show giving crazy advice. That, and retribution's ramblings would entertain me. Great idea DW, I'll be looking forward to hearing more about this project. -
I know your wondering about the title, but recently I've been addicted to the anime Peach Girl and I'm really have been trying to find an image of the couple of Touji & Momo but I can't find good images of them anywhere. It will really be a task to find one of them, this could be due to the fact that more people would prefer Kairi. But anyways, If anyone could find an image for me that would be great with the simple word "Pumpkin" on the avatar and on the banner, "Even if no one will". Don't ask. If there can't be an image found, don't blame yourself. I plan on updating this anyways if it doesn't work out. Good luck. EDIT : I found an image that would fit my banner/avatar set perfectly right Here and then there is also this one I found Here. Hope that helps! I love both your banners, but I want to leave this open for anyone else who'd like to give it a try now that I've found the images.

OOC: Sorry to leave this all blank but I promise I will edit this soon. I know what you mean DW, signs ups have been slow lately for everyone it seems. This RPG looks interesting. I should have my sign up ready by tomorrow. Name: Not everyone will be from Puerto Rico, so feel free to take in other cultures here. But I'd avoid getting too elaborate with names here. Age: Let's face it, teenagers won't be here. Keep it at an adult age. Gender: Male or female. Simple. Appearance: I don't mind if it's a picture or a written description. But keep in mind this isn't an anime, it's supposed to be realistic. A lot of the time, anime outfits are not true to life. Keep that in mind when putting up pictures. Personality: What are they like? Since their occupation is pretty much given, this is your chance to be original and creative. Information: Like personality, this is another area to show off your stuff. Make sure to include how they became a scientist of crew member to run a boat. I'm not looking for anything too elaborate, but dig up some dirt on your guy or gal.

White: I really love the white leaves, I don't know why people say it looks cluttered when I think it has really brought life to the piece. I love how the text goes from larger to bottom almost as if it's fading really seems to suit the slogan well. I also loved the black fading into white and how you used the gray as the shadow of the leaves. The only thing that I could critize about this pieces was with what retribution had stated, that some lines of the text make it look odd. Otherwise, I love it. Boo: I liked your piece as well because it seemed simple and the black clocks at the bottom really made the white background stand out. The arrows within the clocks I especially liked because it made it creative. However, much of this piece seemd too simple and plain for my tastes, and I didn't really get much from the slogan. Therefore my vote goes to....White!

SakuraSuka: I loved the image especially the circles enabled "Sad" gave it a really modern and attractive look. I can't believe you tracing the woman, since she is so perfectly well proportioned and looks absolutely spectacular. I simply love it and can't put it into words. The only drawback that I may find, is that it's pretty simple and doesn't have that much detail. R2vq: I especially liked how you placed the wording at different angles that it makes you want to read all the sides. The hole at the top is also a nice touch that makes it appear like a real bookmark. Unfortunately, I didn't find that this piece touched me as much as Sakurasuka's did, as it seems really bland and not enough to draw one's attention too much. I still think it was a nicely done bookmark though. So my vote goes for....Sakurasuka.

This is a tough one... Katana : I suppose I must have been blind or didn't look closely enough because it took me quite awhile to actually see that it was a portrait piece until I read your little skit. After that, I appreciated it even more for its creativity. But what I really loved most was your saying and how your picture seemed to represent it most. I don't know much about graphic coloring but all I do know is that with the limitations you were given, you sure managed to pull of a unique look. However, the only thing that I would change would be maybe making it stick out more since the image is really hidden and not everyone can tell that it's a portrait piece. Ezekiel: I loved your piece not only because it was clean cut, but it was simple and still made your eyes drawn to the image. The slogan "Shadows are lovely company" is also cute and supportive of the theme, I much enjoyed the background as it fades into a white. Very creative look. However, the only thing that I found wrong about this piece, was it was sort of cliche' and didn't break any boundaries. It seemed a bit too simple. So my vote will have to go to...Katana..simply for uniqueness and creativity.

OOC: This seems like it will be very interesting. Name: Trida (Tree-dah) Tribe: Half Human and Half Guado Age: 24 Birthplace: Luca Appearance: Trida resembles an uncanny resemblence to the tyrant of Seymour which has got her in a lot of trouble in the past. She has long light blue hair that hangs down to almost touching her legs that she usually keeps up into a high ponytail and ice blue eyes. She is also noticed for being taller then most humans. Personality: Trida has always been described as a cheerful person however that is anything but the truth. She has a tendency to find the best out of every bad situation and to laugh at anything which can get on other's nerves. One thing is certain however, is that Trida has a hard time trusting others. While she will lend you a helping hand with whatever you may need, you will almost certainly never find her talking about herself. Story: Being half-guado and half-human, it was unusual for someone like her to live in Luca. Yet no one could blaim her, for she had supported herself since she was a child since her mother was always so poor. Her father however, was never a big part of her life seeing as he left her mother for another woman, so money became one of her main priorities. Majority of her time, she watched blitzball and got into a terrible gambling habit trying to fend for money. Eventually, it got so bad that she ended up in debt to a dangerous well-known loan shark. Seeking refuge, Trida heard a tale of an Al Bhed named Rikku who was looking for companions on their airship and reluctantly sought her out. It was then that she asked to travel abroad to "seek adventure", but what adventure Trida was looking for is unknown. She might just be seeking a way to raise money for the debts she's owned or maybe she is really looking for something..... or maybe just someone? Weapon: Corda Valve - is a type of spear with pointed ends like a trydant. It has a vine that spirals down the pole and has light blue tips at the end that involve causing frostbite to anyone who touches it. She also carries with her grenades and things like throwing knives incase she cannot carry "Corda" with her. Like SunfallE, I too have other hobbies such as dance and reading. I have tons of books ranging from science fiction to fantasy to historical and read them occasionally when I have time, and have also began to get interested in WOW again so that takes up some time if I'm not at work or school. Lately though, I've begun to gain interest into Anime but I always have trouble scouting out the ones that I like. Even though I try and look them up online, I somehow manage to watch the morbid depressing ones that always get to me. Can anyone recommend some good ones to me? I'm currently waiting to see the new Peach Girl anime which should be pretty cool considering I've read a lot of the manga. Anime doesn't exactly "rule my life" anymore, actually I would have to say money does for now.

Hey all! Sorry for the long delay on results. Please do not feel bad if you did not get in. I wanted to make this RPG 100% fair which is why I put the standards so high. I also wanted to add in that it seems I forgot to tell you, in Caldroth "magic" which is actually called "Gifts" is not thought of as something highly but more of something odd, rare, and unexplainable in which only you have obtained a specific particular gift by birth or during your lifetime. If you were rejected and want to know why feel free to PM me. Accepted Kura Sin Illusion Rejected Mushrumluver Master of Death Pending Deathjet Nefertimon Deathjet, I couldn't t place judgement on your since you don't have your character snippet up yet so I thought I'd just point out a few things. There are a lot of spelling and grammar errors that make your sign up a bit difficult to read sometimes, your biography does clash with Sin's as well as it should be hard to learn such 'magic' from somewhere else. Your gift is suppose to be unique. You also need to choose a side whether or not you turned neutral, you had to be something beforehand. Nefertimon, You have pretty good grammar, and while I liked the first bit of your biography about living in the wilderness with your father, you could not have recently heard about the woman who was burned because she did over 3,000 years ago and barely anyone remembers. As for the "War", the triffle between shadow and light has been going on for 2,000 years not really a war but just disputes. This revolution determines the end of what will happen between light and shadow. The character snippet, I was a bit lost how that involves the plot line and the fact that you didn't tell how your character received the letter. Anyways...We are in need of 1 more for light and 1 more for shadow...until then I'll leave this open. Name : Zydrelle Bardall Age : 19 Sex : Female Alliance : Light Hometown : Taliara Weapon(s): Zydrelle wields a type of two-ended spear that can also be used as a type of bombarang. She also wields a long sword named "Barkota" which was handed down through her ancestory and is said to be descendended by the first descended of the first revolution although Zydrelle has no clue what that really means. She was given it by her father, the most famous light knight Kyen Bardall. Gift: Zydrelle has always had visions since she was a child, but the strange thing about them is despite her happy personality she can only see those who are in pain and predict the future. The sad part of her visions is most of them have come true and she can feel the victim's pain as it is happening. She has a strong sense of other's emotions especially when she is close to them, this might be why she has shyed away from making such close friends. Biography : Zydrelle came from within the royal family of Taliara, capital of light territory. Her father Kyen, is most known for his courageous acts against Korkine and 'giving justice to the people' over there. While much of his acts are unknown to Zydrelle, she grew up wealthy and spoiled but she had never taken it to heart instead of being a princess she had dreamed of being a knight like her father hoping to become a legend herself one day. Her mother had died giving birth to her, so she remained close to her father, even when he married to Taylenia, she would always follow her father around the courtyard and watch him as he left to go on one of his expeditions. However, in reality in shadow territory, the name Kyen holds much hatred for the people living there. It is said that he had actually had taken slaves to work for the castle dungeons and slaughtered many innocent people. Zydrelle had never heard of any of this because she had never venturered into shadow territory growing up and was forbidden too. It wasn't until her father was mysteriously murdered, that she began to suspect some mischevious plans going on. Personality : Zydrelle has always perceived a sense of justice and looks poorly down on those who are rude, steal, kill or do anything within the sense of what is 'wrong'. Her naiveness leaves her to see only 'good' and 'evil' as a children's view would see it and her braveness links to that with idiot sometimes in which she will put herself in danger to save others. If your not a thief or murderer however, she can also be a trustful and loyal friend that will be someone you can confide in. Appearance: Zydrelle is around 5'9" with long dark brunette hair that is usually tied into a ponytail with green eyes and wears a headband around her forehead sometimes to protect from the heat. She is usually seen nowadays in a full suit of knight armor that almost seems 2x the size of her body and makes her walk a bit wierd. Character Snippet : [ Will Edit ]

Art Workin' Hard Or Hardly Workin' [WEBCOMIC]
Pumpkin replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Heh, for some reason it kind of reminds me of Family Guy.[/FONT']
Heh, for once I'm going to have to agree with someone here. The flashbacks definately remind me of episodes from family guy and futurama. You definately have a knack for comedy as far as I can see. Keep them coming DW! This is perfect after reading this after a day at work.I think I even enjoy this as much as 'slackers in slacks' [strike]and was a rabid fangirl of[/strike] which was also quite awesome. -
Sakurasuka, I really loved the image of Ayumi Hamasaki since I happen to be a big fan, and the creativeness of the striped lines going through the image. Black & White might seem plain to some, but I can find it to make images even more beautiful. The lyrics in the back also make it unique and really brings your eyes to the image. However, even though it's a beautiful image, I just don't think there is that much in the background which gives me a feel of "incompletion" as if you haven't finished it yet and could use more work with the background. Kune, I love how you did the black and white background with the blue flower, it reminds me of that movie Sin City. That effect really brings your attention to the center and I also loved how it was bright and seemed realistic. The coloring of the flower while I would think usually looks choppy, it actually doesn't, the written words across also add a very poetic touch. The only thing that I found wrong with this piece was the above white font, it didn't fit with the poetic theme that you seemed to be going for. So that being said, my vote goes for Kune.

If you could meet other OtakuBoards members, would you?
Pumpkin replied to a topic in General Discussion
Like some people, there are members that I would love to meet and some that I'd hope of never meeting. I wouldn't mind going to an Anime convention or some place that's public with someone but going somewhere private would just be a dumb idea. No matter how much you have talked with that person. But I can say there are plenty of people that would be rather interesting to meet, and I mean everyone wants to meet me right? JK. In all seriousness, I think an OB event would be fun. Unfortunately, not many members live in California, and I can't travel on account of I'm broke. There are also many people in England and other countries from what I remember, and they would be left out. We're too split apart, it's almost impossible. But then again there is always that island idea...... -
I love to read signatures because they say so much about what that person wants to say or their personality. It is almost like a way of expressing yourself. I know for a fact, that you do not have to have a banner to make a point or your signature stand out. Retribution occasionally doesn't use one and he usually has quotes that make his signatures stand out anyways. The best signatures I've have seen and love so far are Desbreko, SakuraSuka, Panda, Bio, Ozymandius Jones, Retribution & Delta. It's funny because Ozy and Panda seem to keep their banners simple but its to the point. It just goes to show that you don't need an extravicate glittering banner to make your signature look good. As for me, I mostly use mine for advertising as sad as that is. I didn't want to put a different word or put "Click here!" because I feel like I'm being dishonest. What can I say? Shameless plugs are inevitable. My favorite text on signatures are the wacky AIM convo's you read from members talking to others, it really makes it feel like OB really is a tight community. I also love the puns. You got to love the jokes. I have to agree with long lyrics on signatures, it just makes you want to skip them. It can be quite boring and a hassle to sit down and read. As far as I know, OB would be boring without them. I love having signatures, it makes OB even more enjoyable.

The funny thing is, I actually did try Bloody Mary when I was in the 1st grade. You pretty much see your own reflection, run outside the bathroom and get all freaked out. It's wierd how those games get started. I know Candyman started off of the movie, but ironically I didn't see the movie until last year and it wasn't frightening at all. I kind of found it funny actually. Candyman and Freddy were probably the scariest to me, that and attack of the clowns movie scared me a whole lot when I was four. Does Bloody Mary work? Maybe you should try it out. I'd be more scared of the clowns, you know they hide in bathrooms right? Yeah, the clowns will get you every time.
