1. Being female to me is important because I look back on how much women have struggled throughout history. In a lot of religions (and I'm not saying this to spite religious folks) women were made last and men are considered inferior. I don't think men have gone through as much trouble as women but still that doesn't mean I think we are "better or anything". I think that equality has gotten better (despite their are still the stereotypes of women being weak if they are thin) but the only thing I can't stand is when women try and be "blonde" or "ditzy" because they think it's cute and attracts men. There is nothing cute about being stupid. I also think we have more pressure to look good because we're the "beautiful" gender. Some things make me mad, but all in all, I wouldn't trade being a woman. The good thing is I can be independent in this generation and do what I want to do, and not follow the stereotypical "stay at home mom" role if I don't want too.
(You're in Statiistics, I'm in Sociology)
Just thought this was funny since I'm in Soc 2, it's pretty interesting. Just thought I'd state that for some reason ^^
 2. Well, Goddess pretty much summed up what I was going to say. Besides all that, I think it can work if you give him some time. It's possible to be friends with an ex even if it ended badly by getting some space first. Don't see eachother for awhile and then maybe when your not hurting over the past, you'll be able to talk again. I know that's happened to me before, I went a year without speaking to an ex and only recently have we become friends again. Time is the best healer that not even money can buy. Give it time and space. The more your around eachother after the breakup, I think the most awkward its going to get. And most of all don't stress about it, if you keep the attitude that "yeah one day it's going to be like old times" then one day, it will.
 3. The funny thing is I've always disliked Christmas. Maybe it's because I've always never got what I want. Rarely will I get something good....but if I could have anything...my list would go something like this...

Nano Ipod
Digital Camera
Books ('cause I'm cool like that..)
A new mustang convertible or Mercedes...(yeah right)
Clothes from Bebe Sport!
A Credit Card (another yeah right)
An apartment of my own
Gift Certificates
Photoshop CS
CDS & DVDS
A ghangsta pet rat named Sho'nuff
A ride in a limo with my best friends
A holiday made just for yours truely, me.
Oreo Cheesecake
Conquer the world....
You know just the essentials....enough said.

But I was scared to salvage them, not sure if thats what I'm suppose to do. I've been having trouble ascending since I keep getting beat so easily. Does anyone have any tips on how I might pass the test? It's extremely hard and I know it shouldn't be since my skills are not TOO bad. Advice is appreciated. Oh and by the way if you didn't know, if you want any of these items please send a /whisper to Yazela Dubrin. Thanks.
 5.
Girls on the other hand... geez. My step sister isn't yet 12, and is starving herself thin. She does hip hop dancing that seems more like breast thrusting than legitimate dancing. Personally, I don't see why they need to teach these young girls how to thrust their breasts out and be sex objects [through these classes] when they aren't even filling out a training bra. But hey, her Mum lets her do it and it keeps her fit, so I guess that's a minor plus.
I do Hiphop dancing but I'm 18. I honestly don't see whats wrong with her taking hiphop though, not all of it is "bust thrusting" infact I see it as a dance of art. That's a whole lot different to me then say a 13 year old getting a tattoo. But thats just my opinion. Anyways... I've seen a 15 and 14 year olds with their nose & belly pierced and a tattoo. Now I wasn't so much suprised with the piercings...but a tattoo? You know how painful it is to get that removed? Would if they don't want it in the future? Making a decision like that should wait until your 18 or over and I knew even at that age I wasn't ready to make such a big decision. That's permanent ink and some don't realize what that means and what it costs to remove it. I also noticed that it's mostly girls at age 11 or even younger that are starting to think about boys. Once when I was at a waterpark, I saw two 7 year olds that were making out on the grass. I've also seen a lot of young girls wearing "adult style revealing bikinis" not that they have anything to show because they haven't developed at all. It's really disgusting when it comes to that. It's sad when kids are forced to grow up early, heck I wish I could go back to being a kid, next thing you know your going to see girls that are 10 lining up to go into a tanning booth. They should just enjoy their youth while it last, the way it's suppose to be.
 6.
As I was reading the article, I kept thinking to myself "how the hell did these girls grow up racist in Bakersfield, California?" Then as I read further, I found out they were home-schooled. Anyone else notice that the racist kids are almost always home-schooled?
Do not hate the girls, hate the parents for they are the ones that taught the girls such hate. I pity them because they may never realize what they say is wrong and hateful, to them its just how they were raised to believe (like those who were raised to believe gay marriage is wrong) but hopefully when their older they will have a new insight. But I doubt it. I have a friend that lives in bakersfield so I found this article amusing. I go up there every so often to visit sand the first thing that I thought was the same as Manic Webb. Homeschool. Their parents are obviously telling fibs about how great Hitler was and what "good" he did, but what they do not know is how much suffering he caused. It's naive and many people will think that they know such things, but they really need to sit down with someone who went through World War II (such as my grandmother who lived in Hungary right next to Germany at the time and was forced out of her home) and what Hitler did to them and their people. Maybe then the light bulb will go on and this ideal of "White people need to be preserved" will finally be broken.
 7.
4)Vote for Pedro(LOL)[/SIZE']
Heck yes, vote for Pedro. On further note, like many above me have stated, Freedom of Speech is an important right but is lots of the time abused in ways it is more of a priveledge that we have then a right. If you look at it this way, most countries don't have a freedom of speech and your not allowed to critize your own governement or even talk about them. People abuse this right everyday, however, I do not think a girl wearing an anti-bush button is considered a limit. That's her opinion and she's allowed to express that. As long as she isn't trying to create a rally to go burn down the white house or something crazy, it's harmless. That teacher just has too much time on her/his hands and obviously needs some attention. I don't agree with the Neo Natizms walking down the road and seriously think thats brinking the line because it involves discrimination, but others might view that different. If it gets to the point were they hurt people then that would be a violation.

 9. Name: Geneivive "Ruby" Huntley Age: 21 Gender: Female Appearance: Click here is an old picture of me of when I was a noble, a lot has changed since then though I'm afraid. I dyed my hair a plantinum blonde and cut it so it hangs just around my shoulders. It's different, but I like it. I have lost a lot of weight so alas my figure has changed since then as well. But this is the only one I have. Fighting Style: I love to play both offense and defense. But most of the time I end up on defense. I've learned a lot of street fighting when I was poor and a lot of fencing and learning how to Weapon: I usually fight with my Schimitar when I want to get close and personal. That's usually how I like to fight my battles. My favorite weapon that I usually save for last is who I like to call "Barkota" she has been in the family for many years. She is a long stick of what looks like bamboo but is almost as hard as rock with blades that stick out from the side. I like to use her as a boomarang when my enemy isn't looking so that it cuts off the head of its victum. Also it can circle up to five times and then come back. Wielding Barkota can be dangerous because you have to know how to handle it and know where it is going at all times. Ace: A nice ability that I learned from a man called Holy Glade which helps protect me from mental attacks things like confusion, hallucinations, people entering her mind etc. (not from physical attacks) and helps me heal. However everytime I heal I gain exhaustion and lose energy and therefore makes my physical state grow weaker. Still it's a highly useful skill to have. Why Are You Here: It's a long story but one that I don't mind to tell. I use to be a noble, true, but not anymore. I live freely among the poor and I love it this way even though food is scarce and yes I had to steal and even injure those who got in my way. I did kill one person though, and that was mother. Mother was always jealous of everybody especially me when growing up. When your a rich, power, money and beauty is always favored. She despised me because of how I looked, and constantly worried that I was plotting to kill her to take her money and her place in her trade company. So terrified, my mother decided to abandon me at age 16 in the streets and told me if I ever set back foot in the house that I would be killed on spot. However, her plan backfired. Mother sent a lot of assassins to kill me over the years, but I sent them back with bruises and scars that would make any man give up there job. It wasn't until she decided to finish me off herself that is what ended her fate. I didn't want to do it, but then again it was the only way. The guards caught me, and arrested me for murder, theft and fraud. I have two years until death penalty prevails. This is my last chance to redeem myself. Personality: Most people would say that I'm polite, carming, outgoing but shy at times, well-mannered and never speak ill of anyone. I'm not trying to sound conceited but it does go without saying. It's simply from my upbringing, I do not talk trash to even my worst enemys for that is a sign of disrespect. However, do not let my cute smile fool you, I will slay anyone upon the battlefield without a single tear no matter how many friendly chats we may have had inbetween. Emotions on the battlefield are futile and anyone who interferes and stands in the way of my goals or dreams will be pushed aside without further thought. This might sound cold to most, but I'm really not a bad person. It's just me that comes first before anything else. OOC: There It's finally done. I corrected some spelling errors so you might want to re-do the "Why are you here?" part. Another question...how many weapons are we allowed to have? I hope bringing two is alright. This is starting to look interesting. Can't wait until it starts!
 10. I just have to tell my story on the comparisons between World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. Both sides make valuable points, and both games are great in their own ways. Just to state I'm no newbie to MMO's I've played The Sims Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Diablo 1&2, Final Fantasy 11 and many others most of them large ones with different servers. Guild Wars is the most unique and different one I've ever experienced before. I wasn't use to the thought that this would cost no monthly fee, for surely it couldn't be entertaining if it was free right? Wrong. I actually found I liked it. And keep in mind I'm not the type like you Lrb, I love hanging in taverns and conversing with others. World of Warcraft provides plenty of the social aspects and yes I did play on a roleplaying server called SilverHand as a druid night elf named Yavela Dubrin and was just to reach level 30 when I suddenly became to busy to play and grew bored of it. I was head druid of a guild and active in WOW but I was left unsatisfied. My server must have been too overpopulated, because everytime I went to hunt there would be lines after fiends and someone would kill my prey. Usually I'd find some nice person to help me but over time that grew less and less. I miss roleplaying and for that WOW provides a lot of substance, but the fact of the matter was the lagg and the constant swarm of people stealing you XP got really irritating. As you can tell I'm not the best at PVP or even gaining xp can be tough for me. So when going out in your own group alone can be quite pleasing sometimes, especially if you just want to solo and not be bothered. I miss the socializing and traveling the world in WOW but I have to admit there is some hierarchy going on in the servers. Players who think they are better because they have done so and so raids (which I have been in the head of a raid as well, I admit those are fun) and are level 65. You are always based on level. Guild Wars not so much because there is a cap at a certain level and your more based on your knowledge of your skills. I actually stand a chance. I choose Guild Wars because I could play with people from OB here and still socialize, but also be as good as everyone else on the battlefield. I also didn't have to put up with crappy customer service (which by the way, blizzard sent me an email about my account when I cancelled about half a year ago..wth? it's strange.) as I ALWAYS have had trouble when cancelling my accounts with them. I might try Everquest 2 one of these days but until then, this is the option that is layed out for me. And I love the graphics of Guild Wars, I have to admit Star Wars Galaxies remains one of my favorite games that I've played. I don't know why, but I liked the PVP and PVE of that game until it went "Bad". It really wasn't so bad after all. I loved being imperial. But anyways back to topic... It's just your opinion and really you were just stated what you thought. I just hope you played it for awhile to really decide on your decision. GW takes up less time then WOW which can become pretty addicting, believe me I know. But also wanted to know what roleplaying server do you play on? If you were on Silvermoon, Silverhand, Cenarion Circle or Earthen Ring I might have met you along the way ^^ I went between most of them lol.
 11. It's funny because even though I don't have that much of a post count (I'm just reaching 500 posts now) I've been here quite awhile to notice people come and go who have been here shorter then me and had a higher post count. Post count is not what matters, but the quality of your posts, as I have always thought. However, it's also been because I've started college and have been busy with midterms and all kinds of fun stuff for like two months now (Whoo! yeah, right). So I've kind of lost touch with everyone who I use to talk to so I know how it feels to feel like your a newbie again even though I wasn't gone long. By the way, welcome to OB Kanata even though you've visited before. I can't say that I have any embarrasing threads because I only joined on 9/23/2004 and from what I remember I first created an introduction thread which of course Panda closed, and I think we disagreed on some sort of topic in the past, I have no idea. All I have to say is sorry for the trouble I may have caused you in my newbie days Panda. But I like it here better then any other forum so far.
 12.
You think that people treated you better when you had blond hair just because of Barbie? Idiot. Some girls look better with lighter hair, and other look better with darker. You're obviously the former. There are some girls that just look wierd with blond hair, and I've seen some pretty hot brunettes, so its not a universal thing.
Did I say people treated me better as a blonde? No. So don't assume words that did not come out of my mouth. I wasn't stating a FACT I just said I found it INTERESTING that so many people believe in the blonde stereotype that they are suppose to be dumb and pretty and built like barbie. Yes I WAS treated different and some people are that dumb that they can believe the stereotype. Not all blondes are dumb and not all blondes are pretty. That's my end of the subject because I'd rather not create a flame war over a subject thats pointless to argue with you.
 13.
Are you sure you aren?t talking about Barbie? Seriously I hardly think we need to know what size bra you think she should wear.[/i']
Exactly what I was thinking. It's suprising to me that most people consider all blondes beautiful because of this barbie figure, which is not true at all because there are plenty of attractive brunettes. I was a blonde and I dyed my hair dark drown awhile ago and I noticed I got different attitudes from people. I just found that interesting....now anyways....since there is no such thing as "perfect" I'll list the qualities that I like in a man... He has to have a sense of humour. I cannot stand when a guy is serious 24/7, atleast a smile or a laugh every once in awhile is enough for me. He has to be friendly to myself and others, and has to have a unique personality. I don't like people who care too much about what other's think, them having confidence in who they are is an important thing. I've learned through the hard way that bad boys are just a waste of time, I won't date anyone who's on drugs but I will for someone who drinks occasionally (That's not really bad). Someone who's fun and spontanous and wierd and silly as me, and easy to talk to. A friendship before hand is a must! I want to be a guy's best friend AND his girlfriend, it always works better that way. What can I say? I'm a picky girl. Luckily, I already have a boyfriend who fits that description. As you noticed I did not specific one thing on appearance because it really doesn't matter to me. Someone's personality can make them appear attractive in my experience, sometimes your inside can match your outside. I hope that makes sense.
 14.
I'm afraid I didn't do the series justice. :P[/SIZE']
Oh no you did a wonderful job! Omg, I
 15.
Well personally I think I will have the best costume ever. Okay I will wrap my self with lots of tin foil and write leftovers on it, and I will be... LEFTOVER MEATLOAF!!! LOL
Meatloaf...now why didn't I ever think of a creative idea like that? Darn it. Last year I went as a hooker faerie and now I'm confused at what I'm going to be. I'm probably going to my boyfriend's halloween party and then going to hand out candy to the little kids and scare them half to death like last year. I couldn't stop my friend from dressing up as Osama's wife. She started chasing kids down the street yelling "death to america..aiiyyeee" Okay so some might not find that funny, but you had to see her for you to know that she was messing around. It was hilarious. But I'm definately looking forward to halloween this year, I'm still open to ideas so maybe I'll take a bit from everyone who's posted. I'm thinking of being the nerdy girl in Napolean Dynamite, I love that movie. Vote for Pedro! By the way, trick-or-treating is for everyone. For those of you who only hand out large amounts of candy to the little kids, forshame!
 16. I love Chronicles of Narnia, and with the movie coming out soon I thought about maybe having a banner & avatar of it. Oddly enough, I'd love a hot pink and black theme to go with it if that's possible. :: Pictures :: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/narnia/wallpaper/nn_wall_asiankids_1024.jpg http://www.narniafans.com/fansection/wallpaper/btw_Aslan1.jpg For the avatar, I'd like for it just to say "pumpkin" and for the banner I want it to say " Do not try and tame the lion. Let the lion tame you." don't even ask. My second request is a banner for my RPG I'm making up..I really want it to appear nice so I'd rather have someone more skilled for the job do it. (I mean really, if you saw me make a banner, you'd probably die from laughing) all I want it to say is "Gates of Caldroth" and underneath it to say "the last revolution" in small letters. :: Picture :: http://www.chestercc.gov.uk/images/water-tower-nicholson.jpg it's a lot but it would be much appreciated. You can choose to do one or the other if you want too, I'd be grateful either way. Thank you! Mwah!

 18. Personally I'm not religious so I can't say much about god, I fear I will offend someone here. I have to agree with what Brasil said for the most part, as he hit home to me, as its the closest to how I feel. As most of you put it, life is a waste. Why do so many feel this way? Usually because we have jobs, education and other stressful harships in our life. God is a way for most people to think of the future, what joyous thing that could be afterwards. But what keeps us from trying to live if we're in a building that was hit by airplanes? Why live? Why even if theres little possibility of you living would you even try if life is useless? Most people would anwser simply "To survive". It's what makes us human. Everything thats living, has a survival existinct. As long as we survive, I think thats enough reason to live right there. As my midterms pile up and I become agitated with life and think things like whats the point anyway if I'm going to turn to dust in 50 or 60 years? It wasn't until I saw my grandma who is now dying of lung cancer, and watching her waste away. The funny thing is she wasn't depressed but instead said to me " Yeah, I had a good life. I didn't do everything that I wanted, but I'm still happy with it. " The truth is still life is short and you need to atleast try to make the most of it, so that when you are in your final years, your looking back and saying the same thing. Atleast thats how I think. Don't sweat the small stuff get to you, it may seem tough but when you look at the reality of it, it's really not going to bug you 5 to 10 years from now. I definately want to be satisfied at the end of this journey called life, it's what it's all about.
 19. I'm not a big bug fan but I can pretty much put up with anything. I'm not even scared of cockroaches or anything that's flying. Infact if it flies, I'm even less scared of it because I know I can brush it off and it'll fly away unlike something crawling up my leg. There's only one kind of bug that scares the jeebers out of me and that is, you guessed it, spiders. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I can't even look at spiders without feeling creeped out much less kill one. I've had three orange and yellow ones crawl up my leg once and on my back, it was horrible. I couldn't even get them off and had to make my boyfriend do it. There's something about the way they are shaped and their legs and they way the crawl that makes me freak out. They're so ugly and most the time its the black small ones that get me, not tarantuallas. I'm sure I would freak out if I saw one but not as much because I would think it would not go as fast and atleast I could kick it. It's something that I've had as a kid, except for I use to be able to hold daddy longleggs in my hand but now I don't even want to look at those. They are the only ones that don't bug me that much but I still don't like them. Another bad experience I've had with a spider would have to be, one time I was trying to squish one with my shoe and it bounced back up right into my face. A jumping spider. After that, I won't even try and squish them anymore. Yup it's pretty bad.
 20. Don't feel bad, this is normal. I use to feel this way in highschool too most likely from stress or pressure you're feeling. It never was with work for me (cause I never did it lol same reason I did independent study for two years kind of like you) either that or its the changing hormones is what I think it is. (believe it or not your still changing) I'm now a freshman in college and things come by a lot easier. Highschool is tough because everyone else is having such similar emotions and it can become a mess. It'll get better, just hang in there ^^; it's alright to cry for no reason sometimes.
 21. Honestly, I think curfew laws are a load of crap. Seriously, there are adults out there shooting people everyday and they worry about keeping teenagers in after 11pm? That just sounds like an excuse to me for the police to get some bank. Just to let you know I'm an adult and I don't agree with this law. Even my parent's wouldn't. When your a teenager, your suppose to go out party late at night or go to the movies, it's fine for those who don't but who's to blame someone for having fun? We're suppose to punish them all because sometimes their's violence? Obviously, I think thats a bit ridiculous and something that would have been said in the 50's. Let's get this straight... The parents are the one that should be watching their kids and setting the curfews if they are doing something bad....NOT the government! Especially since I don't live in a city, and there's not alot of teenager shootings where I live it would just be silly. Sometimes I really think America is progressing backwards instead of forwards because of laws like this. It's discrimitory and also I know for one if I ever had to experience something like this, it would definately be something I'd go against. Teenagers are going to want to go out even more late if you try and take it away from them, just think back to when you were one. Your realize it's pretty much just takening away what little freedom they can have.
 22. I have to agree with Retribution. My favorite seasons are Summer and Winter. Summer: Even though I know this year I'll have to take summer courses for college, it's always been my favorite season. I love going swimming and this is the season I associate going on vacations with. The only bad thing is that your sweating all the time (I'm from californian, it can get really hot) or you don't feel like doing anything somedays. Especially if you wear make-up, it'll all smear off and you look like a clown lol. But I like it for some strange reason, it's always given me a kind of fun and happy-go-feeling. Winter: Winter seems to make me more serious probably because it rains so much where I live. I wish I had snow around here, that would be great but all we get is tons of rain. However, I don't know why but I actually enjoy it. I love wearing warm puffy coats to keep me warm and sipping hot chocolate by a fireplace. My hair gets really frizzy and you get a cold or two but in the end it's all worth it. I actually can't wait for winter, I miss the cold.
 23.
America is a great country to live in, because for the time being you can insult the government without fear of persecution because you are excersising your first amendment right as a citizen of the US.
Exactly what I was going to say. Thank you CHW. I love America simply because of this reason, now before you go on about the bush administration, just think of the rights that we have over many other poor countries. We're given freedom to even have this discussion and the chance to rebel against our own government. We choose our own leaders and that is a power that not every country has. My grandma lived in Hungary during World War II which was a communist country at the time and I've heard plenty of stories of her harsh life growing up. The fact that we can make a difference is enough for me to appreciate being born here in America. Also, I think Kenshinbabe was trying to point out about the media, however I don't know how that relates to the government. I agree those Bratz dolls are pretty ridiculous but thats companies trying to make money. It's not like you don't see these types of things in England or Switzerland. I'm pretty sure you'll find conceited and shallow people there too. To characterize a country based on a type of person, seems a bit ridiculous. All countries have their problems and if someone believes 100% in your government then thats very naive. Just to put it out there I'm not a bush fan. He used the christians and religious people to win votes for his campaign, everyone knows this. He wanted to get re-elected and this was his scheme to do it. However, I believe gay marriages will be legal one day, so I don't worry about it too much. The man looks like a monkey, sometimes I wonder if he's related to dumbo and will fly up into the air. Maybe I'll have to watch and see. Hmm..
 24. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles CHW. I know exactly how you feel and although I don't want to shower you with my personal troubles, I'm definately not meaning to say "My life is worse off then yours" at all. I don't know much about divorce, except for sometimes I wish my parent's would get one. It's really bad with all the fighting at the house. My half-sister is now 30 years old and just lost her husband this year due to a motorcycle accident. He was only 34 years old and was her best friend. She has a two year old boy at home now that she has to raise all by herself. She's had a rough life. My family constinately talks behind my half-sister's back about how spoiled she is and how she's "jealous" of my sister. There's more I could say, but it's all just one big soap-opera. Okay so your probably wondering what the point of this whole story is right? Well my half-sister always appears so happy despite to me it feels like her whole life is just one big soap opera show. I never believed the saying "When you hit rock bottom, all there is is to go up" until now. I try and get my depressions by thinking of the future, how its going to be better, and how I can make my life work for me. If there are people in your life that hurt you, then they are not worth the time. It's taken me a lot to figure that out and just wanted to say you are lucky that you have friends that care about you. Although I know more additional support comes in handy since I too might have a case of chronic depression (no joke). I got Yahoo IM because ironically thats what my half-sister uses, It's Pumpkindiva07 if you ever need to talk about anything feel free to IM me. I just thought your situations were similar and I know you'll make it through this. Hang in there okay? Divorce is a very tough thing to go through and I'm sure it hurts alot. I know you can make it. Women power. >.
 25. This sucks because I haven't been able to get online for so long. Curse my bad DSL connection. What do you find to be most negative about the site: Hmm..although I wouldn't say anything wrong with otakuboards *coughs* I definately have to comment that well I haven't been able to logg on and obtain my password from MyOtaku. It says it doesn't recognize my email although I know I typed it in right and have tried since like a month ago. The staff hasn't even got back to me yet. Despite that, nothing is wrong with the boards, I just wish I could use myotaku already. What favorites do you have in the site: When I could come here more often, I would definately say the members and hospitality they have showed me. I definately would love to re-unite with some members and also loving meeting new people as well. Otherwise my favorite part of OB would definately have to be the Adventure Inn, I love looking at new RPGS and creative ideas that people come up with. I also have made quite a few RPGS myself (which I haven't been able to post due to lack of internet) and find that your allowed to express that creativity. I really like that they are becomming more strict on boundaries, it only makes for better quality.
