1. I dislike the idea of "Gender Roles" and the stereotyping that goes along with it. No one should even hold onto these old "traditional" ideas because simply they are not true anymore. Of course there are some people who think differently. I'm not saying all do, but alot of men still see the ideal woman who "Stays at home, cooks and cleans" I know my boyfriend was raised to think that is. His mother doesn't, me however, I see myself having a busy career. I think back in the 30's it was the norm for guys to work and women to stay at home and cook, but now in this new millenium I think that has changed alot. There will always be certain stereotypes with specific jobs and what not, some people even think if your a woman you'll go "Oh I broke a nail". Boy do I hate that. Especially if your a woman in the automobile buisness, good luck with that! Anyways, its best to just brush it off. I think we're in the day of age where we can change the future, and become anything we want to be. Women can even join the army, which wasn't so accepted a few years back. There are many possibilites, yes its still tough, but not impossible.
  2.
That last part of your quote I did giggle at. I would have to agree it seems that those who are easier to pick out of a crowd seem to get, well, picked out of a crowd. When my mom immigrated from Japan she was 16 years old. When she got off the boat the US immigration officals gave her a new "American" name. Her birth name is Yoriko but that isn't "American" enough so they named her Dora. Her twin sister Noriko was given the name Doris. It always seemed strange to me that she couldn't keep her given name since it was too foreign. I have also been a bit wishy-washy about immigration issues. Illegal immigration is just that, illegal. My family all came to the States legally. Growing up I have been friends with many people whose family illegally came to the States from Mexico. I live in a very rural area so we have many farm workers who are illegal. I also am friends with many farm owners who employ these workers. Many people know that farming is lots of work, little pay. They hire these workers who are willing to do hard manual labor that others do not want to do. The farmers get work done, the immigrants get employement, it all seemed very beneficial. Yet like I said before, it is illegal. It is breaking the law. But I don't think I am worthy to judge the decisions these immigrants have made since I have not walked a mile in their shoes. What can I say, I am a fence sitter on this issues. I can see both sides and it really is one that puts you between a rock and a hard place.
Panda, I know exactly what your talking about. That is so wierd do they still do that now? Anyways, my grandma came from Europe and she still had to change her name as well. She did come in legally, just so you know, so don't think things dont apply if your from Europe. (She came from Hungary I might add, you know right next to Austria) Anyways back to subject. Her name was "Marika" and for some reason she had to change it, and was given a name for her by a judge and then on it was "Margaret". I find that so wierd since Marika isn't that hard to say, and I've seen plenty of Americans with harder-pronounced names then that. Also, I might add I've heard alot of Japanese names. It's all a bit too wierd. Anyone know more why they do this? As for the immigration problems, I agree that I'm torn between the two sides. On one hand, you gotta look that because alot of people are poor in Mexico because the economy is bad, most people expect illegal immigrants to come from there. Why? cause it happens like everyday. There are tons of illegal mexican immigrants where I live, that stand on the street, waiting for a days work of worth. For them, the money you think is chub change, might be considered alot. Things are ALOT cheaper in mexico if you didn't know. Obviously, they must have left because they did not like it down there, or could not make enough money to support themselves or families. Its horrible. But then again we can only hold so much people in the United States. It's a sad reality. But I can't really base a solid opinion on what to do about it.
  3. That is an interesting story. Honestly I've never known anyone that has had an 'arranged' marriage before, so I don't know much about other country's cultures when it comes to that. I guess its considered normal. "John" might like his wife-to-be but when you really think about it, this is someone your going to be spending your whole life with. Don't you think you should know the person before-hand? I could honestly never stand to do such a thing, even if I learned to like the person I had the arranged marriage with. Just the fact that my parents chose someone for me says enough. I agree with Baron Samedi on this one. I would not like the fact that I had someone chosen for me. I would rather fall in love then to learn to love someone over time. It's way too forced, having a choice, is something I cherish.
  4.
I say go for it and screw what other people think. Heck, who cares if the person is pink and white polkadots? As long as you two get along.
This is so true. I think the generation we live in now, most younger people are acceptive of interracial marriages. But still, there are troubles. There will always be people who find it wierd, or bizzarre. I know my mom would look at my sister (who's white to just to state a fact) would bring home a black guy she was taken aback by it. Some people are just not used to seeing two people of different races together. I know I prefer guys who are not white, and have a boyfriend who is mexican. I know my mom hates the idea of it, I think why most people have a problem with it are because of stereotyping in the Media. Its sad but thats how people look at you based on your race. If your black, you might get more attention from a cop, If your asian someone might portay you as shy, and some people think all mexicans are poor. (this doesn't mean this is true, cause its not, not trying to offend anyone here) I know that because I'm white people think I'm smart and rich for some reason, I'm like what? Im rich? smart? blah! WTH. TV stereotypes help start this, and that is why some people have a problem with interracial stereotyping. All in all, I think you just have to ignore it, like I do.
  5. First of all, let me say I'm sorry to hear about that since Drinking can be a serious and easy problem to get into. In my family there are alot of Alcholics so I know where your coming from. I've tried to get someone to stop smoking before, and it took me awhile to finally get it. It's not up to me to change it, first the person has to realize that they have a problem to actually seek in the help they receive. You cannot force someone to change, they have to do it on their own. You can push them in the right direction, but you'll never know how that will end up. Only advice I can give you is to hopefully give your friend's boyfriend a hint that he has a problem. Maybe then he'll get the idea. I really Hope everything works out for the best.
  6. Name: Kasandra "Chameleon" Lee Other Nicknames include : Alex and Kasia Age: 18 Group: None Group Title/Place: Ex-Leader of Bloodfangs Description: She currently has long brown hair that reaches her back, and green eyes. When she dresses as alex she often wears a hat, with baggy jeans and t-shirts with labels but as Kasia she wears miniskirts to small dresses in which she wears out to parties. Her normal wear is casual, jeans, a tanktop and usually seen with a red bandana on to remind her of the times with the bloodfangs. Personality: Kasandra is innocent and harmless as herself, but as Kasia she often plays the seductress role quite well. She has a tomboyish nature about her that attracts alot of men, her attitude is rough and she is known for being picky about anything. Her language is actually quite good considered to most, but is not someone you want to get on your bad side. She has a softspot for people who are younger then her, but tends to hide it. Especially boys since she is reminded of her brother Boden that she had such little time to spend with. Her thoughts on love are shattered and she believes that nothing but sexual attraction keeps people together. Her main goal is just respect and money. She is untrustworthy of men, and especially doesn't get along with women. She doesn't have many friends, but yet is still well-known throughout the community in which she has found many graffiti walls with her cameleon sign on it. This is a means of contacting her. She is willing to help anyone if they follow by the rules, She will do a favor for you, but in return you owe her one back as well. She lives by the rules of "For every opportunity there is a consequence" which means for every choice you make, there is something your giving away. Many only call on her, when they need something urgent, she dislikes petty deals, unless you are a friend or she owes you. (which by the way is rare to happen) The bigger the risk, the bigger the consquence. Biography: Kasandra Ann Lee was born May 12, 1986 in a poor home on the outskirts of Tsuket City. Her father was unemployed and her mother was constantly woking jobs, money was considered tight. She lived in the small home, with her two younger brothers, Jacob and Boden. Everything seemed fine, until one day Boden fell ill with Amonia. Because they were so behind on medical bills, Kasia's father did not take Boden to the hospital. He died on October 5th, 1999. Kasia has ever since blamed her father for the death of her precious little brother, and grew a deeper hatred for his lack of responsibility as a parent. She began to get into the blackmarket at an early age, trying to save up money for her and her brother to leave home. As she got older, her reputation in the black market skyrocketed. She stole cars, jewelry, anything she could for her main objective, money. Kasia never thought of herself as a thief, she would steal things yes, but she would always give back to the person she stole from later on. She began to be known as a trustworthy supplier, and met alot of people on the streets. One in particular. Rafael. He was hispanic, physically fit, charming and polite for most on the streets, and soon found out he would become a great companion as well. He was known as the leader of the Bloodfangs. It was a well-known gang, rowdy, and sometimes known for taking things a bit too far. Hardly any females were ever allowed to join, and if they did could not take the rough nature. Rafael however, offered her the position. After that, they became inseperable. She found out that brains sometimes overbeat brons, and there her life as a con-artist began. Rafael took her under his wing, and gave her a place for her and her younger brother to stay. He taught her how to con-others, of course, for the sake of the Bloodfangs. There she earned great respect in the group, and was known as "Chameleon", for her ability to disguise herself and was a great talker about getting out of things. She also planned out crimes before they actually happened. This became a threat to many rival gangs, who saw her as their main target. For one of her disguises, she is known as "Alex" and dresses like a boy wearing a trucket hat and baggy jeans. She tends to blend in alot better in areas around men. Kasia has never been known to be a snitch, but more of a spy, leaking information to the gang. Her reputation was famous, except that no one but certain people knew the identity of Kasia for she was always playing as someone else. Her signature marking however, is but of course, a chameleon. The way to tell it is her, is by her signature Chameleon that was tattooed on her lower back above the saying "For every opportunity there is a consequence" she got when she was 16. Rafael and Kasia soon fell in love, they were going to start there life together. Everything was going great for her until one late night. A scandal happened. Nobody knows what it was, the news reporters barely mentioned a word about it. The only thing that was mentioned was a fight between gangs broke out. A man was killed. Rafael. Kasia, missing. After their leaders were gone, the famous Bloodfangs disbanded. Many still await for her return hoping to get them to join their group as a great addition, and others think she went crazy. One thought that is pondered is what if the Chameleon was still alive, and just waiting for her return, or maybe nature took its course.
  7.
satan665 and Morpheus, let's keep this discussion civil. There is no need to insult the intellegence of the other. I would hate to see this interesting discussion turn into a flame war. Now back on topic: I find many vegetarian receipes very tasty. I enjoy eatting tofu and see nothing wrong with it. Tofu is yummy in my opinion! Gardenburgers and Boca Burgers are good as well. I don't think I could ever go vegan since I enjoy eating fish and poultry. I am not sure why Pumpkin quoted my other post since I never said anything about the Bible. I only agreed with James about our teeth. We have teeth for both meat and veggies. That can easily be see by looking in the mirror and smiling. I am also not vegetarian as I stated in that quoted post. I guess I need clarification on if that post was directed at me or not.
Bah! no way it wasn't directed at you. I only said the thing about the bible because in the original post it stated "If you read the bible, it says not to eat meat" so it was directed to the original person who created this thread. About mentioning your post, It was the one with all the definitions of different kinds of vegetarians. I was curious what I would be considered since I only eat Turkey and Chicken. hehe. A "Light-meat" eater. I suppose.

    Stalker Songs

You kinda can't get anymore stalkerish then this song....and yeah it has Micheal Jackson in it too. Rockwell ft. Micheal Jackson "Somebody's Watching Me" Who's watching Tell me who's watching Who's watching me I'm just an average man with an average life I work from 9 to 5, hey hell, I pay the price All I want is to be left alone, in my average home But why do I always feel Like I'm in the Twilight Zone? and... I always feel like somebody's watching me And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa I always feel like somebody's watching me Tell me, is it just a dream When I come home at night I bang the door real tight People call me on the phone I'm trying to avoid Or can the people on TV see me, or am I just paranoid? When I'm in the shower, I'm afraid to wash my hair Cause I might open my eyes and find someone standing there! People say I'm crazy, just a little touch But maybe showers remind me of "Psycho" too much That's why... I always feel like somebody's watching me And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa I always feel like somebody's watching me Who's playing tricks on me? Who's watching me I don't know anymore! Are the neighbours watching me? Who's watching Well is the mailman watching me? Tell me who's watching And I don't feel safe anymore, oh what a mess I wonder who's watching me now Who? The IRS?! I always feel like somebody's watching me And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa I always feel like somebody's watching me Tell me is it just a dream I always feel like somebody's watching me And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa I always feel like somebody's watching me Who's playing tricks on me? 9.
Thanks for that link, Manic Webb. It did sound suspiciously like an urban legend - one that people like to believe is true and therefore tell all their friends. And, of course, no one checks the validity of the story. The same thing happened with me recently with the BonsaiKitten website - an amazing satire that passes itself off as a company that will help you make a cat in the shape of whatever bottle you want to grow it in. (Essentially they claim that a newborn cat can be placed in a bottle and will grow, the bones shaping themselves to the contours of the bottle.) I recieved several 'chain' emails before I looked it up myself, immediately discovered its falseness, and began emailing people back.
Lmao. That "Bonsaikitten" site has been around for centuries, I too in middle school, thought it was real once I looked up about it. It's a prank by a group of college guys, that like to upset people. Kind of funny after you think about it. The cookie story though...is sad. Now most people are going to get mad at me, but yes I've delivered cookies to my neighbour's house before. Maybe not the way they did but still. And no that lady isn't that old, she's 40 years old. An anxiety attack over cookies? yeah right. Sounds like she was looking for a way to get a few bucks for her new purse. And so what if you want to deliver cookies at night, I'm sorry. But if she had a problem, she should have talked to them first. This makes me not want to talk to my neighbors anymore, I swear getting sued for the stupidest things. Thank god I live next to younger people. I hope they don't "Sue" me for the cookies I gave them. Geesh.
  10.
I eat meat. I went for many, many years without eating beef after seeing a video on a few of the methods used to slaughter the cattle. Even today I rarely have a hamburger and I can't even remember the last time I ate steak! Pretty much a chicken and fish eater. I am totally against cruelty to animals and believe there are humane ways of processing livestock. But animal cruelty is best left for a different discussion. I would have to agree with James about teeth. Look at our dentition. We have teeth made for processing certain types of food. We are made to eat a mix of things, including meats and vegetables. For instance cats have teeth made specifically for eating meat. Cats need taurine which is found in meat and they need that essential part of their diet. We have teeth to eat a variety of different things, so I eat both meat and veggies.
I use to be a vegetarian. My friend got me into it. I know plenty of them. But I started eating meat again this year. Only thing I will not touch is Cow and Pig? why? I don't know, I got sick eating beef one time and haven't touched it since. Plus I feel bad but I don't feel sorry for chickens and turkeys all too much. So that is the only meat I'll eat. What does that make me exactly? Have no idea. Anyways I don't think its right when vegetarians try and force their opinions on other people, yeah you can tell people about it, but you can't change everyones mind. And no I didn't feel any healthier not eating meat. Sorry, but really I didn't. I feel the same as I do now. I feel healthier now that I'm not eating hotdogs all the time. That is always not healthy. But like stated before, vegetables are dirty too. If your referring to the bible, what do you think adam and eve ate after he took the bite of that apple? Meat. Animals. Thats how god made us. So that part I really don't understand. enlighten me.
  11.
This may sound way out of topic but trust me on this: The one who "ratted" you out, ULX, is a pothead. How else would he know how MJ smells like? ;)[/SIZE']
Sorry but I think I know what Marajuana smells like and I've never even touch the stuff ever. Or Pot. But I'm sure everyone has smelt it, or has known someone who was on some kind of drug at one point in their life. Someone obviously did rat you out, so they could take pressure off themselves. I've seen this happen alot. And it really does suck that you've been falsely accused of something that you did not do. But in the end the truth always comes out. I will share my story. In middle school, My best friend I'll call "Sally" and I use to write in a journal that we'd pass notes in class, or at home, and write letters to when we were bored. You know, when you don't want to listen the teacher going on lecturing or when you have nothing to do. Well, this one girl I'll call her "Bettie" was really jealous of our relationship because even though she was considered "popular" at the school she didn't have a friend that was close to her like we were. Sally was my only real friend you could say. So one day, Bettie came into the bathroom and told me that Sally was waiting to talk to me outside, but then when I talked to my best friend she told me she didn't ask for anything. I didn't think anything of it, until i noticed at the end of the day that someone had gone through my backpack. The notebook was missing. Turns out, Bettie had stolen the notebook and was spreading rumours all over the school that it was a slambook and that we were writing nasty things about everyone in the whole school. Word got to the principal, and we we're finally confronted with it. You're lucky you had a principal who believed you, we told her to read it, to see that it wasn't a slambook. But the principal hated us alot, and while we we're trying to tell her the truth, Bettie and her friend we're pretending to cry. She even called my mom to tell her what "we had done" but both our parents said we would never do such a thing. It took three months before the whole school found out it wasn't true, backlash for bettie. And this is the same girl that expelled a girl saying that she tried to give the school a bomb-threat. Eventually things will work out, if your honest, and you're being honest. I wish you luck.
  12. I see alot of people on the East Side mostly. But there's nothing two special about my town take a look for yourself. Welcome to California - I live like 45 mins from San Francisco I just went to a concert there awhile ago, theres clubs, fun things to do, etc. It may not sound like much, but from living in the suburbs, the streets of this city actually make for some good times. Plus China Town is always fun. - We have two malls One for older people, and one for where most younger people go. It's like a zoo. I'm not a big fan of the mall, but thats where most people my age hang out and be mall rats so why not stick it in here. - We're known as the Wine County Hey I live near Napa so that obviously means what else? Wine tasting! and lots of it. Alot of old people live where I am, so what do they do? what else, drink wine. Sucks for me, I'm too young to drink. And that is basically it. Woo hoo. Oh did I mention there are lots of yogurt stories? yes we like our frozen yogurt. yum. All these towns listed seem a whole lot more fun then mine ^^

  14.
You guys took a lot out my mouth. To be more blunt, I'd hand the alien a copy of Hustler and a Big Mac and let it go from there.[/color']
lmao. I would probably do the same thing...except for the copy of hustler that is. I would take him to mcdonalds and show him the bads and goods of our nutritional values, also take him to the mall! Hey an alien who enjoys shopping, is a happy alien am I right or what? Then maybe by him some cool outfits, give him a makeover, find him a date, and take him to a concert. He might want to stay here after all the fun he's had, or he might just blow my head off with his laser gun. Either way, that's what I would do.
  15.
What would y'all pay one million dollars to see happen and [U]WHY[/U']? Sorry to all fans, but I just hate her. All she does is party, and is so stupid its hilarious. I don't really like Nikki either by the way. Anyways I would pay one million dollars, to see a piece of cheese talk. seriously, if cheese could talk, that would be awesome. Don't ask.
  16.  I'm I the only one who wasn't scared of the video? It's just some guy and his friends playing a funny prank and posting it on their website. I'm sure he's not so obsessed where he thinks hes an anime character (which actually happens sometimes *cough*the REAL geeky ones*cough*) but yeah I for one, have found way more disturbing things. This afterall, is most likely just a prank. So he's wearing a mask and its creepy? maybe its for a halloween costume who knows. Or maybe he's in that same outfit posting on these forums right this second...muhahaha O.o;
  17.
I MUST be a loser, I can type faster than 10 words per minute! One word decribes me geek. And the fact that I have really long hair doesnt help much.
Sadly I know exactly how you feel. Around where I live, video games are just finally being accepted. And thats like Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy only. Anime and Manga are highly looked down upon. I usually hide my geeky talents. I play mmo's and read alot. Wait reading makes me a loser? When did this happen? *tries to stuff her harry potter books in the closet* seriously, I'm a book worm for fantasy books. I actually get excited when one comes out. My boyfriend is like me but just with Video games. Kinda funny really, I call him a nerd, and he calls me a dork. We're just two different types of geeks so its hard to relate. He can't stand to sit still for a book and I can't ever beat a single game or find enough interest in one long enough. Ah, the irony. 18.
Eh, I actually kind of really like Kimchee. My husband got me hooked on it after he came back from South Korea doing his over seas tour. (He was stationed at Camp Red Cloud in the city of Vi Jong Bu (sp?) ) I'm just trying to find out why the pickled cabbage takes on a strange pink tint. And why so many Chinese resturaunts in Killeen TX have it. Yeah, that's where I first tried kimchee, China Star on Trimeer in Killeen, TX near the Wal*MArt. I also know that I don't want to eat kagoge and there's a slight mispronounciation that could have you eating
Dick
and rice instead of vegatables and rice. Oh and Bulgoki is really good too. PS, I have this big manwa book that's all in Korean..if I scan a part could someone translate? Anyways, on to my heritage: According to my background on my adoption certificate I'm Irish Native American. My parents (adoptive) are both IrishGerman. We don't do too many of the German traditions...actually I don't know any German traditions. But we do celebrate St. Patrick's day with corned beef, cabbage :twitch: boiled potatoes and beer. Which can lead to :fart: and  at least at my house. It can also lead to my brother drinking the white vinager meant for the cabbage because he thought it was water...long story. My hubby and my daughter are hienze 57 people (ie they're Irish, German, English and Native American). Ok, that's enough. Chibi horsewoman
lmao wait cabbage? white vinegar? your poor brother :p Anyways back on topic now, I've read alot of interesting heritages. Mine, not so impressive. I actually know somewhat alot about my family history because we had to do a project on it at school. I'm half American (My dad's family lived in America since the gold rush so you know) and half Hungarian. Only thing that suprises me is I have european in me. Do I act it? No. Am I proud of it? Not really. If you look up on the little country, mostly all there is is folk dancing, eating sasuages, a complicated language that sounds a cross between russian and dutch and skinny-dipping! whoo. how exciting. not to mention they probably yodel or something. My grandmother came to America when my mother was like 4, and has been here ever since. She still has her accent, its very deep and I have to translate it to people cause they can't understand her. Not to mention where she gets her freaky dancing from (hungarians are big flirts  ). Boys over there are even more perverted then Americans, is that possible? so I've heard. Maybe from all that skinny-dipping getting to their head. I guess I'm not as "wild" as I'm suppose to be. Most people at my school are either mexican or white. That's the majority. And yes I look white, its not as if someone points and says "Are you hungarian?" which actually would be kinda cool.
  19.
If one or the other asks you out I think you should laugh at them in a sardonic, ?yeah right? kind of way. That is how I would diffuse that type of situation. I mean, no matter how eloquently you reject someone, that person is still going to feel like crap afterward. One of you might as well have some fun with the situation. You are probably better of taking Lore and Baron?s advice though, I am a bit more callous and egotistical than either of those two.
That would most likely suck alot if you were that person. I would rather someone be hurt and leave me alone, then be pissed and hate me. But yeah. Anyways I agree with what Lore has said. I've only been in this situation once, and honestly just told them both the truth. I don't want a relationship now. I want to keep you as my friends, and that if you can't understand that, then you weren't really my friends to begin with. It's that simple, and if they really care about you as much as they say they do, then they will let it go and understand. It hurts for awhile, but as the saying goes, time goes on, feelings change. Hope everything works out alright.
  20.
I'm... well, I guess you could call me parinoid, heh. Afraid of theslow but steady decline of the economy, afraid of hippies, the gathering darkness... you know, the usual stuff. As far as failing tests is concerned... I've never really had to experiance that, lol. For example, just today I had my Science test, and I got 29/30, and only missed the other one because I was thinking about pie and ran out of time... long story, but it happened. (Seeing as how I ws one of three people in my class to even pass that test, I don't think I've got anything to worry about.) The only thing that truely scares the crap out of me is this: Where the hell did I misplace my sword? Yeah... another long story, but the point is I'm afraid of the gremlin who keeps stealing my various weapons/CDs/Video Games ETC, because they are extremly sneaky and scary... And can, apperently, go places I cannot. Seriously, I'm scared. That and the good old, yet scary, gathering darkness...
I'm not scared of much. Nope no clowns, heights, or midgets for me, although they do bug me, its not exactly what I call fear. I'm scared of Spiders I hate most of all bugs but these things I actually check my ceiling for. They are just gross looking with their six legs, I caught one crawling on my bed when I was sleeping and been paranoid of them ever since. It's a fear that runs into the family as well. Just look at one. I'm scared of Getting Hurt & Rejection I guess it's irrational of me, and I should "ascept all risks of life" but I get scared of getting hurt by other people or becoming attached to someone. I end up getting hurt anyways so there is no way to avoid this one, still its a fear I just can't seem to overcome. As far as relationship wise goes, I will NEVER tell someone I like them out of fear of rejection. Pet peeve of mine I really need to fix, I've never been rejected before, but I have rejected others myself. I'm scared of Being Forgotten One day waking up and having everyone forget who I am. I've been through the experience plenty of times, and it doesn't feel all too good. I will be forgotten once I leave this town for sure, but I hope to make a name for myself in the future. I just know I will somehow. I'm scared of Teletubbies & Carebears Teletubbies are scary. I just want to scream SPEAK ENGLISH! them and their nonsense gibberish...etah..ootoh hehe haha..lala! I'd rather smack my head against the wall. As for the carebears, just think of one for a second. Now you see my point
  21.
As good as this sounds, it's never going to happen. People can't run themselves. The thought that people will have common sense is, well, stupid. Just as we can't eliminate all stupid and/or evil people, we can't stop people from being stupid or evil.
This is true. There will never be a time where Anarchy would work nor would it even be a good idea if it did work. We couldn't relate to eachother as people if we didn't have governments, there would always be war and battles going on. That's not something I'd wish for. Haven't you read Lord of the Flies? Without law or order of some sort, we'd all be wild. One of our human insticts many do not realize is the ability to kill weaker beings, who's to stop us from doing evil or punish us if we do something considered "un-moral"? No one because it wouldn't be un-moral. There would be no law. We will not punish ourselves thats for sure. I don't think humans will ever learn to be completely-intelligent and run ourselves because lets face it, we're only humans. It's like the saying goes "Two bricks is stronger then one" If we all could run ourselves, where would the bond that keeps us together be?
  22.
Quite true Semjaza, I used to be quite a bit fan of horror films but I have begun to notice that the quality is indeed slipping dramatically. I mean what was the name of the film.... Freddy vs. someone... Freddy vs. Jason, I didn't actually go see that film however several of my classmates did and they said that it was utter garbage. I think one of the key facts to consider is TV, we all know that TV is just as violent and even more so when it wants to be than movies. I mean you watch enough guys brains getting blown out and eventually you just tune out. It is true though that we're getting desensitised, I mean look at the film The Exorcist, 10 years ago (maybe more I can't remember) that was supposed to be the scariest movie of all time. You watch it now and your now unimpressed, however I will say that one film that did have me genuinely scared was The Ring but an awful lot of that was just shock horror that caught me off guard. That's all I've really go to say.
I was just about to mention that movie, Freddy vs. Jason really dissapointed me. I went to see it with a few friends of mine, and I'm usually really scared of scary movies. I hate 'em, but this one was just lame. It's like, "Oh I'm scared, theres a gas station but I think I'll run in the woods now like an idiot" and just made me laugh. I disagree with the person who said re-watching old movies doesn't make you scared, the older ones still scare me lol. Although the Grudge looked pretty frigten for me, there will always be one movie or two that will actually be creepy. It's just you have to search for them harder.
  23. Suprised someone created this thread, I use to be a big fan of Disturbed when I was 14, I hate their new stuff. I love their old CD with the song "Down with the Sickness" I use to be into heavy rock and was a fantatic along with Linkin Park (which they are still good by the way) Its great to look back and think, wow, there actually were decent bands back then. Not none of the Good Charolette crap on TV today. Yuck.
  24.
I did okay in elementary school. Grades didn't really matter much then. I just basically did my homework and made sure everything was done. The grade I got on it didn't really matter. It was always between a C and and A Grade 7, and that's when I started slacking. That's when they started showing our grades as percentages and my mom would freak at my bad grades. I had started extended french and I think this was the trigger for my slacking off. I didn not want to put in the effort. Grade 9 I started highschool and quit french but I was still a slacker. My mom was so pissed at my grades. She told me that all I would have to do is try and I would get a really high mark- which was quite true. I just never tried. People were surprised that I could actually manage to pass with barely doing any work. I at least make sure I pass, in the end it doesn't matter to me what my grade is. In my last year of highschool I tried just so I can get high enough marks to be accepted at University, and here I am, slacking off again. Meh.....
Wow you sound like me. haha. I can't help it I'm a slacker too. I'm only conserned with graduatining from Highschool, not how high my grades are. I guess I should care more then I do, but I feel bad for the kids that I saw slaving away at work. I use to be on Honor Roll, freshman year, and had straight A's and B's especially when I was a kid, now that I don't care as much, I find life much easier. It's sad really, but sometimes there are more important things then a letter on a paper. I wouldn't call Highschool the best years of my life, because I'm sure I'll have better times in the future. The best advice I can give to you is to be honest with your parents. Tell them you'll promise to get good grades, but that you want more fun time for yourself. That you appreciate them worrying about you, but that they should not over-do it. Just tell them how you feel, and they should understand. Glad that you decided to just chill and hang out with friends, it may sound simple but it should lay off the stress a whole lot. I wish you luck!
  25. Hmm I'm a cancer so I looked up some things on my zodiac sign. Let's see if this matches up shall we.
Cancers are Highly emotional and sensitive
Partially true because I do have strong emotions butI have a hard-time expressing them. Sensitive? hah I get teased all the time. Which is supposedly "rare" for a cancer. So I guess I broke that one.
Cancers don't like to argue or get into arguements
Arguments when they turn mean no, but yes I admit it I like to argue. So wrong.
Cancers look for Security.
I'm not a very trusting person, and I've come to the fact that if I want something done I do it myself, so does that mean I look for someone to make me safe? no. If it happens it happens.
Cancers are not risk-takers
Somewhat true. Although I don't party (like most people around here "HoLLa HoMies!") that doesn't mean I haven't taken any risks. It depends on what kind. I use to get into so much trouble as a kid, its crazy. I still do. Sometimes. It all depends on what you mean by risk. When it comes to relationship wise, I'm not much of a risk taker.
Cancers are shy and not very sociable people
Hah. Not true. I talk. ALOT. infact I get teased cause I talk alot, habit. I use to be very shy in middle school, but that was such a long time ago. I'm shy around some people, but rarely. I think I'm a very approachable and friendly person.
