[color=#4B0082]Some videos have 720p options available, yeah. Then again, some of those are just upscales and won't actually look any sharper at 720p. I haven't followed Bleach in quite a while, so I don't know if it ever made the jump to HD. To tell if something's upscaled or not, take a screen shot (I guess for CR stuff you'd have to use the Print Screen key and then crop it out if you're actually watching it on their site) and load it into something with a good resample function. The bicubic resample in Photoshop works nicely. Resize it to 848x480, then back up to 1280x720 and compare that with the original 1280x720 shot. If the resized one doesn't look any different from the original, it's an upscale.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]Maybe it's counting unapproved posts in the profile but not the postbit? From what I've seen, the count in the profile has always been higher than in the postbit.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]I haven't seen much anime on Hulu, so I don't know how CR compares to that. But considering how terrible DB's video quality was while they were subbing Bleach, I doubt CR could be worse than DB. In my experience, CR's video tends to be about half way between what a good encoder can do with a transport stream from Japanese TV and what you get from encoders who have no clue what they're doing. So, it's not great but still watchable. To toss a little comparison out there, he's a [url=http://comparescreenshots.slicx.com/comparison/61945]couple shots from Yumeiro Patissiere[/url] showing the difference between a decent encode from .ts source and CR's 480p video. And I assume you get higher quality video if you subscribe. There's always at least options for SD and 480p on their videos (which is dumb, because 480p [i]is[/i] SD), but the 480p option is only available to subscribers. I'd guess the SD option is encoded in flash video instead of H.264 and/or lower resolution.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]Yeah, I've also noticed that post counts in the postbit and the profile tend to differ. I think we might need to have the software rebuild post counts.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]I think that problem might also be related to OB being unable to send e-mail. If someone is watching a thread and has it set to e-mail them whenever someone replies, it could be hanging while trying and failing to send the e-mail. I've also gotten the same thing when sending PMs.[/color]

[quote name='Citric' date='04 June 2010 - 06:20 AM' timestamp='1275657640' post='694539'] But what about avatars that are already 150 x 150 that I want to use? or what if I want to use some 195 x 195 avatars that I've saved? If I shrink them down to 150 x 150, the 195 ones are going to lose a lot of details compared to if it was only shrunken down to 150. And don't say to crop it to 150 x 100. In case that wasn't obvious, I don't want to deal with ugly rectangular avatars. Fact of the matter is, there are avatars out there larger than 150 x 150 and if I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to shrink it to fit 100 x 100 and lose a lot of the avatar. [/quote] [color=#4B0082]Most of the time, you're already losing a ton of detail by downscaling and cropping images to 150x150 or 200x200 or whatever to make them into avatars. But that's not important because they're avatars, not grand works of art. The whole point of an avatar is to have a small icon that represents you, along with your username. As long as whatever's in it is easily recognizable, it serves its purpose. If you want something big and fancy with meticulous amounts of detail, you've already got a large 600x200 banner to work with. Thus why I say overly large avatars are pointless. The second reason I don't want to increase the max width is that, while yes, there's more room in the postbit, it looks ugly to have avatars jammed right up against the borders with barely any padding. The current width matches up nicely with the width of the text info below it, creating a fairly uniform column of information. If you raise the dimensions too big, the avatars will look disproportionately large compared to the rest of the postbit. Thus why I say overly large avatars are tacky. On the subject of whether avatars in the site's library should be square or rectangular, I don't see any problem with having both as long as we pick two uniform sizes. There are some images that simply look better in the rectangular format and some that look better in square. Allowing both will only provide more high quality avatars.[/color]

[quote name='Petie' date='04 June 2010 - 08:44 AM' timestamp='1275666284' post='694555'] [color="#008080"][color="#0000ff"]I've tried resizing my browser to very small windows and I still can't get the columns to fall out of alignment. The only reason I can think of for this is that the software reads your screen resolution instead of the current size of your browser when it sets the table width. Because, for me anyway, I can only shrink the window so far and then the table's width fixes itself and I get a horizontal scroll bar from that point forward.[/color] [/color] [/quote] [color=#4B0082]The same thing happens for me. If I lower the browser window size to less than 1024 width, I get a horizontal scroll bar. I imagine the tables themselves have a min-width attribute applied to them, but the table cells don't have any fixed sizes. So at small window sizes, you get fixed width tables but variable width cells within those tables.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]Except that XL Basic isn't a default skin. [url=http://community.invisionpower.com/]This is the default IPB skin.[/url] [/color]
-
[color=#4B0082]Anyone besides me think overly large avatars are tacky and pointless? I find 100x100 and 150x80 to be plenty big enough and there are very few times when I find myself wishing for more space when I make avatars. I think 150x150 would be pushing it and I wouldn't want to see bigger. I say we go with 150x100 so that our current avatar library would fit the max width and the more common 100x100 size would fit the max height.[/color]
-
[color=#4B0082]The varying width of the columns on the front page happens when your browser window is small enough that there's not enough room in those table cells to contain the last post info in the normal percentage of the table width. So, like any HTML table without forced pixel widths applied to its cells, they adapt to the content in them and stretch out if the space isn't needed by the other cells in the row. If I maximize my browser window on my 1920x1200 monitor, the cells are always the same width because there's always room to spare in every cell. But if I resize the window to less than 1280 width, they start to vary. If you want the columns to always be the same width at resolutions lower than 1280 width, you'd have to lower the number of characters used in the thread links in the last post info column.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]I don't think the drop-down uses a cookie to change the skin like vB did. As far as I can tell, it saves the change directly to your account. Because I can change the skin to XL Basic, log out and clear all my OB cookies, and see Wet Paint as the default while logged out. Then when I log back in, it goes back to XL Basic.[/color]
-
[color=#4B0082]Upload it to an image host like ImageShack and then use [img] tags to hotlink it in your signature. I don't think IPB allows uploading of signature images like vB did.[/color]
-
[color=#4B0082]You can change skins with the little drop-down menu in the lower left corner of pages, just like before. And you no longer need to set a default in your options. The drop-down selection will be saved until you change it, even if you log out. I like XL Basic. The bright orange of Wet Paint is too much for me.[/color]
