That's only what it seems like at first, when you still rely mainly on items. Once you get better, though, you come to rely less and less on items so that's it's not nearly as random. The only track where the randomness doesn't dramatically decrease is Baby Park, since the laps are so short and there are so many items flying around at all times. I almost never have a problem getting 1st in any of the other races on 150cc anymore, however.

Hey Shin, do you have broadband? If so, check out www.warppipe.com. I've decided I'm going to get a GCN broadband adapter with some of the money I get for Christmas so I'll be able to play Double Dash online with people. It'd be awesome to be able to play together, if you've got broadband.

Hmm, now let's see if I can think of a decent question now... Okay, I got one. At least some people should have gotten the Collector's Edition disc by now, so let's see if anyone knows this. Question: In Zelda II, what is the Hammer used for?

5:30 AM: The dawn sun was rising above the horizon, and the world was waking up. Not that the sun could be seen in the slums, but the indirect light shining down upon the planet could be seen, and the warmth could be felt in the morning air. The slight breeze sliping in under the plate was still cool and refreshing. Waking with a start, Arik sat up on the thin layer of padding that served as the hideout's bed. He always woke up that way, alert and ready for anything. Pulling a small pocket watch from his coat, he looked at the ticking hands and mumbled something about it being too damn early. Arik wasn't much of a morning person, and tried to avoid early starts. Standing up and yawning, he looked about his makeshift shelter. This one was pretty bare, a mere shack constructed back in some junk heaps away from the road. But it was hard to spot and easy to escape from, so it serverd its purpose as well as any. As he slipped off through between the piles of wreckage, Arik wondered just how early that Leo guy was going to start. Surely he can't have gotten up at this godforsaken hour, Arik thought. He decided to slip off to the Wall Market for some breakfast before heading off to check on Leo. Some soup from that little diner place sounded good, and he'd be able to get it to go. The streets were all but deserted this early in the morning. All the nighttime prowlers had already withdrawn, and the legitimate businesses hadn't yet started work for the day. This was actually the safest time of day to walk the streets of the slums, and Arik was strolling down the center of a broad avenue leading to Wall Market. He had purposely left a few 1 Gil coins in an outer pocket of his coat, and they jingled slightly as he walked. Wall Market was slightly more populated. Arik glanced around for any seedy characters, and, spotting one, he veered off course slightly towards him. He put a little more bounce in his step, and the coins jingled louder while he looked off to the side away from the scruffy looking man. He veered farther, farther...bump! Arik stumbled a bit as his shoulder nudged the man. Regaining his balance, Arik apologized. "Ah, sorry 'bout that, should've been looking where I was going." The man just grunted in reply, and Arik strolled on...minus the jingle in his pocket. Heheh, works every time, he thought as he quickly darted down and alley and around several buildings, all without a sound. Once a fair distance away, he removed the small pouch from his sleeve. This one had been tied with a thin leather strap in a rather difficult knot around the man's belt. The thieves are getting better around here, Arik thought as he dumped the pouch's contents into his hand. 74 Gil--enough for breakfast, at least. It was early, though, so he couldn't expect any of the thieves to have gotten much yet. A little ways away Arik heard some swearing and the sound of boots running down the street the way Arik had been walking earlier, and he couldn't help but chuckle. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Later, steaming cup of soup in one hand and a plastic spoon in the other, Arik sat peering through a small gap in a rather large trash heap, his gaze centered on Leo's front door. He sipped a spoonful of the hot brothe--without any noise. Now, anyone would have to admit that that takes some skill. His only worry was the wisp of steam rising from the bowl, but he doubted it could be seen from the street. Glancing absently at the pocket watch again, he noted the time: 5:58 AM. Sighing as he tossed the now empty bowl and spoon away to decay with the rest of the trash around him, Arik settled down to wait. He was good at waiting...and watching...and listening. He could let his mind wander aimlessly for hours, entertaining himself within the confines of his memory and imagination, while still remaining alert to any sound or movement around him. Hours later, motion in front of the door jarred Arik from his thoughts. It was the same smith that he had seen the previous night, once more knocking at the door. It opened a crack, a few whispered words were said, and the smith was admitted into the house. He looked at his watch yet again: 8:49 AM. Agh, I got up early for nothing, he thought, annoyed. Then another person knocking at the door caught his attention. He watched intently, straining his ears to try and catch anything that was said.

Yeah, you don't have to stun him, but it makes it easier. And if you run out of magic and arrows, the Longshot also works, but again, it doesn't stun him for as long as a Light Arrow. Anyway, for the first part of the fight, Ganon moves extremely slow, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting to his tail without stunning him. One thing that you should never do, however, is try to go around his legs--only go in between them. If you go around, there's a chance that he'll catch you with one of his huge swords. Once you get behind him, either use the Megaton Hammer or the Biggoron's Sword to hit his tail. (Preferably the Biggoron's Sword, if you have it). After you hit him once, roll straight away from him so that he won't hit you when he turns around. When you're using the Master Sword you can get in multiple hits, but the Megaton Hammer and Biggoron's Sword are too slow for more than one. Now just repeat until you can go grab the Master Sword. Now, this is important: Make sure that you use the Master Sword for the rest of the fight. I'm pretty sure that if you use the Biggoron's Sword or Megaton Hammer, you won't be able to defeat him. You have to use the Master Sword for the final hit, I know that much for sure. So make sure to equip the Master Sword after you get it back. Anyway, on to the second part of the fight. Ganon will be moving much faster now, so make sure to keep your distance. Now, as long as you've got some magic and arrows left, shoot him with a Light Arrow. This will stun him for a decent amount of time, which you can use to run between his legs and hit his tail once or twice. Again, after you hit him twice at the most, do a roll straight away from him. He recovers very quickly after you start hitting him, and those giant swords of his hurt. Now just back off again, shoot him with another Light Arrow, and so on. Once you get the pattern down it's not that hard, and if you run out of magic and arrows, either use the Longshot to stun him or just roll between his legs without stunning him at all. In both of those cases, however, I wouldn't reccomend going for more than one slash at the tail before rolling away. As for what you should be bringing into the fight, two fairies and two Blue Potions is what I'd reccomend. Fairies are good for those unexpected hits when you're low on life, while the Blue Potions will be very handy for restoring both life and magic. And that's basically it. Like most bosses in OOT, you pretty much just have to learn the pattern and time your dodging and attacking right. Keep at it and you'll get beat him eventually. Oh, hey, I thought of something else just now. Did you get the Golden Gauntlets out of the Shadow Temple section of Ganon's Castle? If not, go get them, and then exit the castle and go to that big stone pillar just outside and down the path to the left. Lift it with the Golden Gauntlets, and there'll be a Great Fairy's Fountain past it where you'll get the half damage upgrade. It makes the fight with Ganondorf/Ganon so much easier.

Heheh, perfect. An even more evil version of Deschu, lol... But won't that chainsaw hurt when he clings to your leg? :toothy: And I have no idea where you two got the idea of his ponytail hanging over his shoulder. Neither of us ever have it hanging over our shoulders. It looks funny, it gets in the way, and it's more comfortable hanging down the back.

SECTION A In the following section, please answer each statement with one of five answers: A) Strongly Agree B) Agree C) Somewhat Agree D) Disagree E) Strongly Disagree 1) I find OtakuBoards rules easy to understand and follow. A - I haven't ever had a problem with them. 2) I feel that the staff at OtakuBoards understand their job and are capable of performing it appropriately. B - I think there's room for improvement, but not much. 3) OtakuBoards is easy to navigate. A - It's not any harder than other vB boards I've been too. If anything, it's easier than most. 4) OtakuBoards has a friendly atmosphere. B - For the most part, yes. SECTION B Please try to keep your answers relatively short in this section. 5) How often do you visit OtakuBoards? Every day, unless I'm busy or really tired. 6) Do you feel that the rules are too strict/not strict enough/fine as they are? I think they're basically fine as they are. Some bits could maybe be a bit more specific, though, such as signature length. 7) Should we continue to uncensor the creative writing areas on OtakuBoards? As long as it doesn't get overwhelming, I don't really care. 8) Would you rather a decentralized forum system on OB (more forums, less activity per forum) or a centralized forum system (less forums, more activity per forum)? For the most part, I think I'd prefer a more centralized system. Just don't take my Zelda forum. 9) Would you like to see a closer integration of myOtaku and OtakuBoards? Sure, why not? Having the myOtaku buttons linking to peoples' sites right in their posts is already nice. 10) Are you signed up to myOtaku.com? Proud member since August 11, 2003. ^_^ 11) If you are not signed up to myOtaku.com, do you plan to sign up in the near future? *stamps VOID on this question* 12) Do you read Announcements at OtakuBoards? As soon as I see them. 13) Which single Category (Category, as opposed to individual Forum) do you spend most of your time visiting? Otaku Series, of course. What else? 14) Do you think that OtakuBoards should offer an in-built chat system as part of our service? If we included a chat, would you use it? I think AIM does fine. I'd probably only use a built-in chat room sort of thing if I were really bored and no one was on AIM. 15) If we offered an "OtakuBoards Wireless" service that would be accessible via Internet-capable cellphones, would you use it? Well, seeing as I don't have a cellphone, no. If I did have one, though, I might use it occasionally. 16) When we offer a next generation version of OtakuBoards, should we continue to provide semi-regular community events in our Event Arena or a similar forum? Yes, we should. They've all been great so far. 17) If you could add one new Category (Category, not Forum) to OtakuBoards, what would it be? I've no idea. 18) If you could remove one Category from OtakuBoards, what would it be? *reads all the posts from people saying they'd get rid of Otaku Series* Merge it with Otaku Gamer, sure, but at least keep the current Otaku Series forums as subforums, if not as main forums of Otaku Gamer. I spend at least 75% of my time in the Otaku Series forums. Personally, though, I think Otaku Art & Design could be merged into Otaku Public with Banner/Avatar Request and Sprite Central as subforums. 19) If you could add anything to OtakuBoards (in terms of a new forum, a technical tool/feature, etc), what would it be? The ability to search for specific posts within a thread, in addition to being able to search for specific threads within a forum. 20) On a scale of 1-10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest), how would you rate your experience at OtakuBoards since you registered? 10. My experience here has been filled with much joy over the years that I've been a member.

Sitting slone at a corner table in the 7th Heaven, Arik shuffled and layed out his deck of playing cards. Solitaire, a game of one; just the way he liked it. As he sipped his drink, idly flipping and moving the piles of cards on the table, Arik listened intently to the conversations going on around him. Most of it was slurred, drunken talk, but there was one man... One man with something of interest to say, and Arik listened. Black jack on red queen, red ten on black jack... Arik wondered if this guy--Leo, he had said his name was?--was for real or if he, too, was being influenced by the bar's strong alcohol. It was hard to tell, but Arik decided to make it his business to find out. If this Leo character really was serious, he might just prove to be useful. Slipping quietly out of the bar a little before closing time, Arik found himself a good hiding spot and waited. Sure enough, out came Leo, strolling around back behind the 7th Heaven and down an alley. Following in the shadows a ways behind, Arik watched as he unlocked the door to a small, rundown house and entered quickly. Surveying the house's markings and surroundings, Arik made a mental note of its location. Waiting a moment longer, Arik watched as another man came up to the door and knocked. A miner, he judged from the two great hammars on the man's back, and one of the others who had been at the bar during Leo's little talk. Leo let him in after a moment, the door was closed once more, and silence prevailed again. Interesting, Arik thought to himself. Seems I wasn't the only one to notice that guy. Quickly stealing away to his current shelter (Arik had a number of small, secret locations around the city where he stayed), he layed down to sleep. He would have to get an early start if he wanted to keep an eye on Leo, and that was just what he planned to do. Arik wanted to see just what this fellow had in mind before introducing himself.

Actually, the "gibberish" that the animals speak is actual speech... It's just sped way up, so you really have to listen to be able to understand it. Listen close for a while and you can learn to make it out.

Well, I really have no idea if this holds any truth at all, but I seem to remember hearing a rumor or something about someone at Nintendo mentioning that they wanted to do a two-player split screen mode so two people could be in the village at once. I think that'd be cool and all, but I'd barely ever get to use it, since no one else in my family plays Animal Crossing. I'd rather have some sort of online play, where you could visit other peoples' villages if you knew their town and character name, or something like that. All the town data would have to be stored on servers for it to really work well, though; otherwise you'd both have to be playing at the same time, which could be hard to arrange. Besides that, though, the biggest improvement I'd want would be bigger houses. You should start out with the same little 4x4 house, but you should eventually be able to get a three story house with a basement and attic, and multiple rooms on the three main floors. Three rooms just isn't enough space for all the cool furniture and stuff in the game. Also, a backyard would be neat. Another thing: a mini-storage type place. I mean, sure, you can order most things out of your catalog after you've gotten them once, but what about the things you can't order? Like the various holiday furniture series, and the gulliver items, and stuff like that. Storing stuff in letters at the post office is such a pain, and burrying stuff (or leaving it on the ground) looks really cruddy. Again, for the sheer amount of cool stuff in the game, there's just not near enough room in your house to keep even a small fraction of it. And I agree with the issue of more character customization. I'd love to be able to choose different facial features, or maybe even draw my own face like you can do with Blanca. You should also be able to take off that stupid hat! I mean, what the heck is with those horns, lol? Hats, shirts, and pants should all be seperate, and you should be able to choose not to wear a hat if you don't want to. (As for pants and shirts, I...uh...I won't go there). And of course, you should be able to choose your hair color and style and whatnot. I also want that free-moving camera that Ganon mentioned. There've been a lot of times that I've wished I could rotate the camera while outside, even if it were only the amount that it lets you rotate it while inside. Full 360 degree rotation would be awesome, and would certainly make it easier to find those pesky weeds that like to hide behind trees and only stick out a tiny bit. There's also a few minor things that I think should be improved with furniture, such as being able to rotate something that's sitting on a table without rotating the table itself. And making dressers and wardrobes hold more than three pieces of clothing. Seriously, some of those wardrobes should be able to hold twenty or more shirts--you shouldn't need five different dressers in order to keep a decent selection of clothing on hand. And I also want bigger fish tanks that I can put multiple fish in, with the same thing for insect containers. If I could do that, I'd devote my entire basement to being one giant aquarium with all the kinds of fish I've caught (which happens to be all of them, heh). And having a Koi pond in the aforementioned back yard would just be awesome. ^_^ As for the farming elements that James mentioned... Somehow, I imagine some of the animal villagers wouldn't take too kindly to that, lol. I mean, how would you feel if you saw a miniature version of yourself imprisoned in a cage for the amusement of your neighbor? All the villagers would rise up against you, lol. And that's about it for my ideas, at least for now. I'm sure I've come up with various other ones, but I think this post is long enough as it is. Even if there is a ton of stuff you can do in Animal Crossing, there's just so much more that could be added. :cross:

Count me in. I've been yearning for another good Final Fantasy RPG, and this looks like it will do nicely... But don't you mean a "tribute" to FFVII, in the title? Name: Arik Marshall Gender: Male Age: 23 Job: Pickpocket Height: 5'7" Birthdate: January 19 Birthplace: Midgar Sector 1 slums Specialities: Removing the valuables from one's person, moving stealthily Appearance: Arik's face is rather gruff looking, his unshaven face combining with his sharp, set jaw to give him a dangerous look. His hair is a short and unkempt mass of black-brown upon his head, which is straight and not in the least bit curly. The most striking feature about Arik, however, is his sleet-blue eyes that almost seem to shine of their own accord. No one, not even Arik himself, however, knows if this is from a Mako infusion or merely a natural occurance. The garb of choice for Arik--not that he has all that much choice--is a heavy and tattered t-shirt the color of dried blood. This hangs untucked over a pair of black denim pants, which also show signs of wear. The pants are tucked into a sturdy but light pair of brown leather boots; the perfect footwear for fast, secure movement on any kind of terrain terrain. Over all this, Arik wears a long, brown leather overcoat that reaches to his shins, sporting numerous patches up and down its length. In the bedraggled coat's many pockets, Arik stores his many "findings," as well as misc. oddments such as matches, a handkerchief, etc. His most valuable possession, however, he keeps strapped to a narrow belt looped from shoulder to waist: A stiletto daggar complete with leather sheath, positioned for easy access on the belt near his left breast, yet completely out of sight beneath the overcoat. History: Born, as far as he knows, in the Sector 1 slums, Arik was an orphan. He doesn't know who his true parents were, but according to the family that took him in as a baby, they found him wrapped in a bundle of cloth near the train station. When he was 10 years old, however, he ran away to Wall Market after an incident with his adopted family. Arik doesn't talk about that incident, and no one has ever pressed him farther on the issue after getting an icy glare from those daunting eyes. Doing any obb jobs available in Wall Market in order to survive, and stealing when necessary, Arik struggled through life by himself. Becoming more proficient in the art of thievery over the years, Arik started to move around in the slums, eventually visiting all eight sectors. Arik isn't well known as a thief, however--he only steals when he needs to, mainly from other thieves and miscreants, and is fairly open with his money to those that command respect. To most people that have had dealings with Arik, he's known as an honest and fair man. Over the last few years, Arik has been trudging through life in search of something: The truth about who he is. Arik has always wondered about his eyes, and also, who his real parents were. Through some discreet inquiries, Arik has learned that eyes such as his are a result of prolonged exposure to Mako...but he doesn't show any of the other traits of a person infused with Mako, such as increased strength and heightened abilities. He suspects Shinra has something to do with his mysterious origins, but information on the company's scientific experiments is virtually impossible to obtain from the outside. With all his leads dead, Arik now searches for a way to escape the slums, hoping to be able to learn more in other areas of the world. Leaving the Midgar slums is easier said than done, however, and it's been some time since his search for a way out started. Currently he's looking for information in Sector 7--there's a popular bar called the 7th Heaven, where he's gained more than a fair bit of useful knowledge. Perhaps he'll get lucky again. Personality: A loner by nature, Arik nomadically moves from sector to sector in the Midgar slums, never staying in one place long enough to really make friends, but enough to have a wide range of contacts throughout the slums. On the outside, Arik seems like a fairly easygoing person, even if he is more than a bit distant, but on the inside is a strong will and a forceful sense of determination. With nothing to lose, Arik has little fear of danger and the unknown. A strong sense of fairness is also imbedded deep within Arik. Though most of his income is from stealing, he usually does the stealing from other thieves and criminals. And he does this by the discreet method of pickpocketing, so as to avoid conflict. So far, with his deft hands, he's been rather successful at avoiding attention, which is just as well; he really has very little combat experience with his one weapon, a dagger.

Yes, people actually do techno remixes of video game music, if that's what you were wondering. Just check out OverClocked ReMix--that site has tons of remixes. As for whether I'd want more techno themes in the actual games, it really depends on the situation in the game. Some times it would probably work well, and I'd like it, and others it wouldn't. I usually prefer the original song to techno remixes, though.

*choke, cough, sputter* Okay, I have to say right now, I don't think the Viera translated well to 3D. She looks like a rabbit, lol. In FFTA, their ears were pointier and furrier and less...well...rabbit-like. As it is, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to take the Viera seriously in FFXII. :cross:

Either that, or the writers just don't care to incorporate that sort of thing into the show. Really, to most of the people that watch Pokemon, I don't think the issue of Ash and the others aging is at all important--if they even think about it. All it would do would add one more little layer of complexity to the show that isn't important to how entertaining the show actually is, or even to the story, really. That's my guess. Like with a lot of things, it comes down to being lazy. :p

You're not alone, Semjaza; I also loved the platform levels in SMS where you don't get to use FLUDD. Of course, a few of them had me swearing rather profusely under my breath, but I still loved them. The one in Ricco Harbor is one of my favorites because you can just run straight through without ever stopping if you're good. The main thing in SMS that was really, truly frustrating for me was the stupid Blue Coins. With some of them, you pretty much just had to run around the levels randomly until you stumbled upon them. Like this one in Bianco Hills, where you spray the top of a tree--which is in among a bunch of other trees--with water to make a Blue Coin pop out. Who the heck would think to spray trees while looking for Blue Coins?! As for Zelda: A Link to the Past being frustrating... Well, okay, I won't go there, because I'm modest and don't like to brag. :toothy: But I will say, on the SNES version, it doesn't just count the times you die. If you notice, it says "Games Played" at the end of the credits, not "Lives Used" or something like that. That means that every time you save and quit, it adds one to the Games Played number. That means getting a 000 score in the SNES version of LTP doesn't just mean beating it without dying, it means beating it in one sitting. So if you're just looking at the number and not actually remembering whether you've died or not, you may have done it without dying, but saved and quit a few times. Thankfully, they fixed that on the GBA remake, however, so it only counts deaths. But you know what was, and still is, frustrating for me? When you're fighting some level 9 CPU characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee and they start doing things that are obviously cheating. Such as not getting KO'd from a side smash attack when you're both on the near edge of the platform and the CPU character (I hate Luigi for this) has over 150%. I'm sorry, but I've seen this happen many times to human players, and not once has any of them survived something like that. It just shouldn't be possible, and it pisses me off that they let the CPU characters blatently cheat in order to raise the difficulty level. Let's see...there's got to be more games that I've gotten frustrated with, because I sure as heck remember a lot more times of swearing at the TV... I've experience the same thing that PT talked about, only in Mario Party 2 instead of 4, where your teammate throws the match just so you won't be able to get another star. But that wasn't all that frustrating, because if I remember correctly, I still managed to win, heh. Bleh, I can't seem to remember any more right now. I know there've been more than a few games that I got thoroughly disgusted with, but I can't remember any more. Oh! Okay, I just remembered another one. In Zelda: Oracle of Ages, that damn Goron dancing! I did the first part fine, but then when you have to come back and do it again to get the Mermaid Key...GAH! I swear, they made the timing for that thing absolutely insane! If you were even a split second off, YOU LOSE! I hate--I mean I really hate--it when you're required to complete a stupid minigame like that in order to continue with the game. I ended up not playing OOA for several months just because of that one little part.
Originally posted by G/S/B Master When growing as a teen, you don't look older at all.
Only if you don't count getting taller, lol. Hmm, well, I must have waited at least 15 minutes and nothing happened. I suppose if I really cared all that much, I'd go beat OOT on my N64 cartridge and see how long it takes on there, but I'd have to play through most of the game to get to the end. (Ah, the joy of erasing one's save file and then never playing all the way through again). :cross:

Um, people? It's been almost a month since he last posted in this thread. I doubt he still needs help on that one boss. If anyone needs help on a different part of Kingdom Hearts, go ahead and post, but I think the subject of how to beat Cerberus has been exhausted.

I agree with James; I really liked how they used FMV in FFVII. As I was reading his last post, I was thinking "
Aeris' death scene
" the whole time. I can't imagine that being done with voices. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I just get a feeling of what the characters are thinking and feeling when I watch that scene. It's like words just aren't necessary because all the characters already know what the others are thinking, and from your experience with them earlier in the game, you do too. I thought that was the most well done scene in the entire game, whether or not I felt sad or whatever about
Aeris dying
. It was just very well put together. Also, I think dialogue can be incorporated with FMV without the use of voice acting. Just look at FFVII's ending. The characters talk in it using subtitles, while the whole thing is FMV. For me, that fit in perfectly. It wasn't until my second time watching the ending that I realized "Hey, they're talking during an FMV." It fit in because I knew the characters, I had my own voices for them in my mind, and I knew how they would be saying the lines. I don't see it as any different from reading text during real-time sequences. I don't have anything against voice acting when it's done well, but for an RPG where there's going to be a lot of dialogue, I'd prefer plain text. Or at least the option of having subtitles and being able to skip the spoken dialogue once I've read the text, or turning the spoken dialogue off and only having the subtitles. For a game like Zelda, I think I would like voice acting if, as I said before, it was done well. If a game doesn't have a lot of dialogue and the game's focus is more on the action and less on the story, I really wouldn't mind. Maybe it's because I read a lot, so RPGs seem sort of like books with worlds that I can see and interact with, but I just prefer reading and having my own voices for characters when the dialogue holds a lot of importance. It feels more like I'm part of the story that way.

Hmm...if FFXII is supposed to come out in Summer 2004 in Japan, that'll probably mean it'll come out around Christmas 2004 or later over here in the US. Which means I'll be able to get money for a PS2. Which means FFXII will be mine! YES! I loved FFTA's world, so now I'm really curious how similar FFXII's world will be. Also, I'm wondering if they'll use the job system again, which I loved in FFTA. I can't wait for that new update either. :toothy:

Try to stay on topic, okay? Talk of a fan-made manga should go in a seperate thread, unless it relates to the subject of the thread's first post.

Every single mask in the game, or just every mask that you get? And does that include the Boss Remains?

Whee, I just recently completed all 300 missions, plus the extra missions. It annoys me that it doesn't save after you do the last extra mission, though. I really wanted that second Nagrarok that I stole... Marche is level 40 now, with every other character besides
Cid
on level 35 or 36. I still need to get a few more weapons to teach me some abilities, though. I mainly need ones that teach combo abilities, which are a pain in the butt to get. My play time is 158:22, clan level is 82 (Explorer Red Wings), my skill levels are in the 80s except for smithing at 91, and all 30 areas are freed. My clan rocks. ^_^ As for your questions... The Clan Wars last the whole game. Other clans will always be going from place to place on the overworld, and areas that you free will always be attacked every now and then. (Although if you hold them for long enough, it seems like they'll stop getting attacked. The only areas that get attacked for me anymore are the Jagd areas). It's sort of like the random battles of other FF games, only not random. If you need to level up or learn some abilities before you can complete a mission, the traveling clans give you a way to build up your characters. If you want a character to learn other types of abilities, just change their job. You can change a character's job at any time, short of in a battle, and have them start learning different abilities. (Assuming you've got weapons/armor that will teach abilities for that job). Just go into the Party screen, hit the button on a character, and then choose "Change Job." As for what to look for when accepting a new clan member, it really just depends on what kind of character you want. Different races will offer to join depending on what month it is, but other than that, what kind of character will offer to join is random. Basically though, if you're looking for a mage type character, make sure the character you accept starts out as a mage of some kind. Otherwise they'll most likely have low MP and magic power, which makes them pretty useless as a mage. If you're looking for a good fighter type, make sure the character has good HP and attack power and starts out with a physical attacking job such as Soldier, Warrior, Fencer, etc. So yeah, it really just depends on what kind of character you're looking for.
