[color=indigo]Well, I've never played a game with all spoken dialogue (unless you count F-Zero GX), but I think I would prefer just text. I read a lot, so I always have my own voices for the characters. That, and I just prefer reading to hearing things spoken. I've found movies barely interest me at all anymore, whereas anime with subtitles tend to hold my interest a lot better. For a movie to hold my interest through the whole thing it either has to have a really good story or be really funny.[/color]

[color=indigo]That's just a little easter egg that got thrown in. It should happen on every game... Though I waited quite a while on the OOT/OMQ bonus disc, after beating Master Quest, and it never played it. So now I'm wondering if it got taken out of the versions on the bonus disc, or if it's just not in Master Quest, or what. How long did you have to wait until the song started playing? Ocarina of Time doesn't save when you beat it, and your save file remains just as it was the last time you saved before beating Ganondorf. Nothing happens after the ending. You're supposed to start back where you last saved it when you load your file after beating it. So no, nothing is wrong with your game.[/color]

[color=indigo]Heheh, yeah, I loved doing that. I was laughing maniacally as I watched the Space Pirates writhe. Payback time for all the Metroids you have to deal with, heh. And actually, you may be right... I think I do remember seeing one or two Hunter Metroids in the caverns before the Omega Pirate, but I don't think those come back after you kill them the first time, either. I went back and forth through there a few times after I first went through and beat the Omega Pirate and I don't remember there ever being any Hunter Metroids after that first time through the area. Oh, and I went and dug up the Metroid Prime Arena challenge from an old issue of Nintendo Power. The goal was to have the lowest time with the highest completion percentage. The first place time is insane... [color=indigo]Ganon is in The Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and The Wind Waker. You don't don't fight him in AOL, however, since he only appears on the Game Over screen, and you only fight Ganon at the end of a linked OOS/OOA game. Still, even if you weren't counting AOL, or even OOS or OOA, he would still appear as a boss in more games than any other boss.[/color]

[color=indigo]Well, I'd like to rent MP5 some time when I can get my friends together so that we can stay up late playing it. But as for buying it, I don't think it'd be worth it for me. I bought MP2 on the N64 and had a lot of fun with it, but that was the first Mario Party game I had played. Then after playing a bit of MP3 when a friend rented it, and then MP4 when said friend bought it, I don't think the series has changed enough to spend a whole $50 on MP5. Sure, there are some new modes, like the story mode and the Super Duel mode or whatever it's called that has you building mini tank things and blasting away at each other. But like that review said, the main focus and the most fun you're going to get out of the game, it sounds like from everything I've heard, is the multiplayer party mode. Unless there's a lot more to them than I've heard, the one player modes seem kind of tacked on to try and hold your interest when you can't play multiplayer with friends. I think, for me, Mario Party 5 will be a sort of "one night stand" game. I'll have a lot of fun playing it for the time that I rent it and am able to play it with my friends, but after that I probably won't want to play it again for a good while.[/color]

I thought the price drop would definitely help the GCN's sales beyond just the first week or so of the cut, but I didn't think it would be able to push it above the PS2. (Even if it doesn't stay there). I bet the free Zelda: Collector's Edition disc also helped.[/color]

[color=indigo]Yeah, Log Book entries also go towards your completion percentage, as well as item collection. At least time doesn't have anything to do with what ending you get in this one, though. That would be insane, trying to get 100% [i]and[/i] complete it in only a few hours like you have to do in Fusion. (I'm not even trying for the best ending in Fusion -- the best I've been able to do is about five hours while getting 100%, and you need to do it in under two). And yeah, it does make it harder and seem like an old, classic game, but it still pisses me off that it's so easy to miss certain things. (Though of course, that sort of thing pisses me off in the old games, too). I mean, really, how hard would it have been to put in little secret areas with computers that you could scan to get the info for bosses and other enemies that you only get one chance to scan? It would even make sense, since the Space Pirates had to have been documenting the planet's wildlife and these monsters they were creating. As it is, it's pretty much impossible to get 100% on your first time through unless you're using a walkthrough. All it takes is one little time of "shoot first, scan later," and you're screwed. That's what I was thinking for some enemies (like those Ice Shriekbats). It's a Metroid game -- the enemies [i]always[/i] come back, right? All those damn Space Pirates always come back whenever you leave the room, but no, the normal enemies like to change/disappear halfway through the game. Oh yeah, and another thing to watch out for while scanning is a Hunter Metroid. I believe only one appears in the entire game, in one of those caverns in Phendrana Drifts past Thardus' chamber. (I think the room's name is Hunter Cave or something like that). I don't remember ever seeing any others in the game, except possibly during the end boss fight. I can't remember clearly if there were different kinds of Metroids during that fight, though, since I was too busy blasting the boss. :cross:[/color]

[color=indigo]You know what we have here? We have a case of "the thread that just wouldn't die." :toothy: Yes, I'm back at it again, making more FFXI banners. These newest ones are smaller than usual -- they're 400x90 instead of 500x100. I thought the smaller size would fit the banners better, since there's not a whole lot to them. It lets me focus in on the specific parts of the pictures that I wanted to show, without a ton of empty background, and I think it worked nicely. Though a lot simpler than the three country-themed banners I made before this, I like these new ones just as much. ^_^[/color]

[color=indigo]I never got the best ending either, and now I can't on my current save file. The first time I fought Flaagra I was sure to scan it, but then I died. And when I fought it again, the time that I beat it, I forgot to scan it again. So I know I can't get 100% on that save file. Heck, I haven't even found all of the Chozo Lore entries, and I've looked [i]everywhere.[/i] I'm thinking maybe there are secrets not on the map that I haven't found. I hate being able to miss things so that you just can't get everything, though. I think you should be able to go back after beating the game and get anything that you missed. It was like that in the other Metroid games. Heck, in Metroid Fusion, it would even tell you the number of Energy Tanks, Missile Expansions, and Power Bomb Expansions in each area after you beat the game to help you collect everything.[/color]

[color=indigo]Well, I could choose a couple different options on that poll, for different parts of the Pokemon franchise. For the anime, I think they should've stopped while they were ahead. Three seasons was enough -- I haven't heard anything good about the anime past the third season, and from the episodes I've seen, it was really going downhill from season one and two. They either need to make some serious changes/improvements or just stop altogether, I think. For the games, I think they could use some [i]real[/i] gameplay improvements. More Pokemon and a different overworld along with a couple other little new features is not enough to warrent a third set of games. And now they're doing remakes of the original Red and Blue on the GBA just so you can get the original Pokemon in R/S? Come [i]on![/i] I for one am not going to spend my money on either of these sets, unless by some miracle I get more than enough money to buy every other system and game that I want more. I'm sad to see it go, I really am, but my interest in Pokemon has all but disappeared as of late. The RPG mode in Colosseum looks like it could be fun, but what do you want to bet you need a copy of R/S to play it? Not to mention the first two Stadium games weren't that much fun unless you had your own Pokemon, and I can't imagine the rest of Colosseum is much different. I'm still waiting for a stand-alone RPG on the GameCube with online play for battles and such, if not as an MMORPG.[/color]

[color=indigo]Well, seeing as I don't have a PS2, I haven't played FFX-2 for myself. [i]But[/i] I can still have an opinion, since you don't really need to have seen the cutscene to have one on the issue. :toothy: Basically, I look at it this way: If they're going to translate other voice acting into English, why not the song? (Same thing with the text, too; that also has to be translated). Is it really any any different than the rest of the spoken dialogue? If you think the song should be in Japanese so that it's in its "original version," shouldn't you also want the rest of the voice acting to be the original Japanese? After all, they had to get different voice actors for the English version, the same as they had to get someone else to sing the song in English. And I don't know about you, but unless I were fluent in Japanese, I wouldn't want to play a game with all Japanese speech/text. And since this is the [i]North American[/i] version of the game, not many people are going to be fluent in Japanese.[/color]

[color=indigo]Okay, now I feel deprived. Anymore, I'm the only real gamer in the family. I'm the youngest in my immediate family, so most of my relatives are either past the "general gaming age," or they're too young. So yeah, no multiplayer gaming around holidays -- at least not any more than normal. In fact, for multiplayer gaming with my family, only one of my brothers ever plays together with me. I'm almost exclusively a solo-gamer anymore. :( So yeah, I've been starved for multiplayer gaming ever since me, my brother and his friend would play the original Super Smash Bros. I mean, I've got friends to play with every now and then, but we usually own different games (so we can trade back and forth and end up being able to play more of the games for the same amount of money), so either I totally kick their butts or they totally kick my butt... You know, seeing as one of us owns the game and plays it a lot, while the other doesn't get to play it as much... This ends up making it not as much fun as it would be if we were all of equal skill at the games. I can't wait for the gaming night we're going to be having at my church some time soon, though. I'll be able to get some real competition at Super Smash Bros. Melee, while being able to play on movie theater screens. I'll have to start practicing at SSBM again, heh. ^_^[/color]

[color=indigo]I beat Metroid Prime a few weeks after it was released. I've been thinking about playing through again on Hard Mode, though. I still can't believe Retro Studios actually pulled it off, though. I mean, when I first played it, it didn't feel like a FPS. It just felt like a Metroid game... Seriously, for the first couple hours of playing, I was comparing it to Super Metroid. It still blows my mind that they were able to translate the Metroid series into 3D so smoothly, and with a first person perspective no less. Really, the biggest complaints I have with the game are a few little control issues. I would have found it helpful to be able to turn faster, and also be able to look around faster with the R button. It was annoying how it slowed down the farther you looked up, but it didn't actually matter too often. I found the targeting system to work very well. Oh yeah, and about those Chozo Artifacts, be sure and go back to the Impact Crater temple every so often while collecting them. The more of them you get, the more clues to finding others you can get by scanning the obelisks. And once you get the clues, it's pretty easy to track down the Artifacts. All you have to do is look at the name of rooms on the map and that usually gives it away.[/color]

[color=indigo]I think it's either it's a glitch, or you got hit by something else at the exact same moment as the lightning hit you, and you didn't notice. If you're getting hit by something else, such as a Spiny Shell (argh, personal experience), the lightning won't affect you. Other than that, though, I don't think there's any other way that it's supposed to not affect you. For a little update, I've now gotten a gold trophy on all the grand prix cups, on every speed, except for the All Cup Tour on Mirror Mode. That, I expect, is going to be a pain in the butt since I'm used to normal 150cc. I only just barely won gold on Star Cup and Special Cup on Mirrior Mode by getting a tie with second place. And by the way, I'm really disappointed with battle mode in this one. I was expecting some big, extravagant arenas that really took advantage of the game being in 3D, like Mario Kart 64 did on a couple of its arenas. (How I miss thee, Block Fort). But no, it turns out that only one of the arenas in Double Dash is like that. And only one other besides that is even as good as the ones in the original Super Mario Kart. (Those being Luigi's Mansion and the one with the warp pipes along one wall). My biggest complaint is that two of the arenas are [i]completely open.[/i] Sure, one of them tilts and has no edges, but other than making the items move around, it doesn't do much. I mean really, if you're so bad that you're actually going to fall off the edge of an arena that big, you shouldn't be playing battle mode. And the complete openness makes Red Shells an almost automatic hit, unless you're an absolutely horrible shot or the other player can muster a counter-item [i]and[/i] time its release just right in order to block the Red. Next up, is it just me, or do Green Shells seem to have a bit of auto-aim in battle mode? In the scant couple hours that I've played battle mode in DD, I've pulled off more amazing shots than I ever did in MK64. A couple times, my brother has been almost halfway across the Tilt-a-Kart arena, we're both in tight power slide turns, and I hit him dead on with a Green Shell. That's something I would [i]never[/i] have been able to pull off in MK64, let alone the original. (And that's after having months and months of experience at the game, compared to a week of playing DD). I've gotten so a Green Shell is almost as good as a Red, and I'm not egotistical enough to believe that I can aim [i]that[/i] good. I think the only thing that Double Dash's battle mode has going for it is the two extra scenarios, in addition to Balloon Battle. Only problem is, they're not that great with only two people. I haven't even bothered playing Shine Thief yet, because unless there's four people playing, I can't imagine it being much fun. And with only two, you'd just be chasing after one person, or alternately, running from one person -- why don't I just play versus mode? Bomb-omb Blast is fun with three people, but if you time it right, it can be really easy to win. (Especially on the aforementioned completely open arenas). Basically, since a player can't be hit again for a few seconds after they've been hit, it can be really hard to get points sometimes. You can be right in the middle of a big battle and not get a single point because the people you launch Bomb-ombs at end up getting hit by someone else just before they get hit by your Bomb-omb. So if you can get in the first hit in one of the more open arenas, and keep timing your throws right, you can win before the other players even have a chance. Maybe this would be less the case if there were a bunch of people playing over a LAN, but when I played with two of my friends on three-player, it ended up like that for almost every match. So yeah, battle mode is not as great as I thought it would be. I think the most entertaining multi-player mode, at least for me, is cooperative in grand prix. That I've had lots of fun with, and it's fully lived up to my expectations. Maybe if I could play cooperative in battle mode, that'd be more fun, but for it to really work, you'd need it going over a LAN. Otherwise there'd only be two opponents in the battle. And to play it over a LAN, I'd need to get a Broadband Adapter, someone else with a GCN, the game, and a broadband adapter, in addition to a cable to hook the GCNs together...[/color]

There are lots of people that have posted in this thread that would obviously care, and tons of other Zelda fans out there. Try going on Nintendo's official Zelda board and taking a look at the sheer amount of posts, and then tell me no one would care. Just because you lost interest in the series doesn't mean everyone else did. And as a bit of a side-note, if you're going to bash the recent Game Boy Zelda games, you'll also be bashing A Link to the Past (which was on the SNES originally) and Link's Awakening. A Link to the Past/Four Swords is a remake, while the Oracle games use the exact same game engine as Link's Awakening. You can't say that the gamplay in the recent GB/GBA games is bad without saying the gameplay in older Zelda games is also bad. Also, you say that no one would continue to play the Game Boy Zelda games. I think what you mean is that [u]you[/u] won't continue to play them. Like I said, there are still tons and tons of Zelda fans out there that enjoy the series. The success of A Link to the Past/Four Swords proves that. Both my friend and his sister have a copy, and their dad is thinking of getting a third copy so that they can all play Four Swords together -- how many other games would people be willing to do that for? So yeah, there are plenty of people that would care about a Zelda movie, and I don't doubt that, if it was done well, it would be highly successful. Just because maybe you wouldn't care doesn't mean that no one else would care. I know I sure as heck would. I'd be first in line to go see it, heh.[/color]
