As anyone planning on getting Final Fantasy XI should know, the game comes out for the PC on October 28, 2003 -- only a week away. And, if you've read up on the game, you'll know the system behind creating characters on a specific server. That is, the World Pass system. What I'm asking for in this thread is people that are planning on purchasing the game when it first comes out to post in this thread. I've written a thread for sharing World Passes, organizing parties and alliances, and other FFXI related stuff, but what I'd really like to include is an "Official OB World Pass." That is, a World Pass that members of OtakuBoards can use to create a character on the same server as all the other OB members who play FFXI. Now, the reason I want people who are planning on getting FFXI to post in here, is to apply for the privilage of providing the Official OB World Pass. Normally I'd just supply it myself, but unfortunately, I won't be able to get FFXI for at least another few months. So, I need someone else to supply a World Pass for everyone to use. And that's basically it. If you're going to get FFXI and play it as soon as it's released, on October 28, and you'd like to supply the World Pass for OB, post in this thread. Your post should include reasons why you think you should get to supply the world pass. I'll judge who will get to supply the World Pass based on the reasons they supply and also the overall quality of the person's post, and then the "winner" will be posted in this thread on Oct. 27, the day before the game is released. The selected person should then PM with the World Pass as soon as they can, so that I can post the previously mentioned thread as soon as possible. The reason why I'm stressing that the person to supply the World Pass should get the World Pass to me as soon as possible is because, if other people want to play on the same server as everyone else from OB, they're going to have to use that World Pass. And they have to use the World Pass when they first create a character, or else they'll be stuck on a random server with no way to transfer. So if people want to all play on the same server, they're going to have to wait for the World Pass to be posted before they can start playing the game. I know I'm going to be extremely anxious to play FFXI when it's released, and I won't even have the ability to play it. I can imagine how much more aggrivating it would be to have the game sitting there, ready to be played, yet having to wait on someone else. So make sure you're going to be speedy about getting the World Pass to me if you apply. Finally, to go over this one more time, I'm looking for people to supply an Official OB World Pass. Anyone interested should be getting FFXI the day it's released, and should post in here with his or her application to supply the World Pass. People should post reasons why they should be able to supply the World Pass in their application. I will select the person to supply the World Pass on October 27, and I will post the result in this thread and also PM that member. That member should then purchase FFXI on October 28, start a character, and get a World Pass. He or she should then PM me with the World Pass, and I will then post a new thread, replacing this one, with that World Pass in it. Everyone that wants to start a character on the same server as other OB members should then use that World Pass when starting a character. If anyone has any questions, they should be PMed to me, not posted in this thread; only applications should be posted in this thread. Thank you for your help, and good luck.

This thread was about how far you've gotten in The Wind Waker... And then it kind of strayed to the subject of fighting Orca... And I think it's basically run its course. I don't think there's really anything left to discuss, though, since most people have probably beaten TWW by now. And just posting up where you are currently is pretty pointless... Um, yeah, I think that question is a bit excessive. Each game has its own unique items, so there's going to be tons of them. I could probably figure them all out, but I'd have to go through for each game and make a list, and it'd end up taking quite a while. I think it'd be better if a different question were asked.

Eh, the black and white monsters in Terra Tower weren't that hard for me. I was using Serge, Kid, and Razzly. I just used normal attacks with Serge (as he could do more damage just waiting for his stamina to get back up from 0 to 7 and attacking again than if he used an element), and my strongest elements with Kid and Razzly. Also, I had every character's element slots for levels one, two, and three completely filled with healing elements. Running out of healing elements is bad. You'll want to have lots and lots of HealAlls and CurePlusses. HolyHealing on Serge is also very helpful. But yeah, I pretty much just used my strongest attacks/elements and healed whenever I needed it. I don't really know what else to tell you. :cross:

If people start any more Advent Children threads and they don't have anything original to say, just delete them. If they actually have some worthwhile comments or new info, go ahead and merge them, but if the person is just saying "It looks cool, I'm gonna buy it when it comes out," don't bother. Got it Breko. ^^ -Break

For me, the game that got me hooked was the original Super Mario Kart on the SNES. I had played Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. a bit before that, and I enjoyed watching my brothers play videogames, but they didn't really interest me all that much. Then I finally tried Super Mario Kart, and suddenly I just couldn't put the controller down. I played as much as I could, working my way up to 150cc class and trying to beat the Special Cup. And then there was time trial, where I tried in vain to beat my brothers' times. (My second-to-oldest brother held the best times on every single track, for all five rankings. Not even my third-to-oldest brother could beat them, and he was dang good). Until Super Smash Bros. on the N64 came out, Super Mario Kart was probably the game that I spent the most hours playing. I was a master at it -- I got to the point where I knew the CPU player's patterns so well that I could drop a Banana Peel or Green Shell on the track in just the right spot so that they'd run right into it when they got to that part of the track. I remember I practiced on Rainbow Road so much that it was actually the easiest of the Special Cup tracks for me. Instead of the tracks getting harder as I got farther into the cup, they actually got easier, with the first one (Donut Plains 3) being the hardest for me. And of course, who could forget battle mode? Me and my brother spent countless hours together on battle mode, both going head-to-head in straight fights, fighting with special rules such as only using Green Shells, and finding all sorts of funky tricks and tactics. I remember this one thing that had to be some sort of glitch; if you did it just right, you could fire off a red shell in the big, open center of a level, and it would just start circling around you in a big loop. It wouldn't stop until the other player ran into it, or you moved out from the center of its orbit. Heh, I've got tons of great memories of Super Mario Kart. It's been years since I really played it, though. Of course, that's probably because all of the tracks from it are in Super Circuit on the GBA, so I don't need to play the original in order to race the classic tracks. Good times, good times... ^_^
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I don't think there is much more to add to this... However, I know someone will come up and say "Shadow is a female!!!" because of some text later in the game.
Heheh, I got some people pretty good with a screen shot of that a while ago. People were talking about how there never seems to be more than three playable female characters in FF games, so I just had to post it. If it were true, there'd be four female characters in FFVI, after all. :whoops:

I think James just got Captain Falcon and Michael Chain mixed up in the part where Chain comes up out of his machine's cockpit and attacks Falcon while the two are side-by-side. That's just the intro movie to one of the story mode chapters.

There's already a thread about the new season of the Pokémon anime here, if you care to check it out. There's been a good amount of discussion about it already. In the future, though, please look through at least the first page of threads before creating a new one. If you find a similar thread, simply post in it instead of creating a whole new one. This helps to reduce clutter in the forums, and also makes things easier to find. Thanks. ^_^ Thread Closed

Heh, I didn't think you'd be Red Link, Mei. I guess people can surprise you with their different playing styles, though. ^_^ Thanks for the compliments, by the way. And I probably would make more quizzes, as I had a lot of fun writing this one, if I had any ideas for more of them. If I were going to make another one, I'd want it to be something decently original, and inspiration for that sort of thing doesn't seem to come to me very often. (The idea for the four Link personalities just came to me one night while I was in the shower, lol).

Um, yeah... It's already been said a few times that you should watch out for stuff like that on eBay and other such places. Having the same thing repeated over and over again is pointless, and therefor spam. Thread Closed
Originally posted by Hero Of Time Dumbass.....remember the legend of zelda cartoon?!It failed..and Link talked.....and in the orcarina of time manga...link didnt talk...and that manga did well...look at the different jack****
*sends ban warning* If I see you flame anyone again, you're gone. You don't have the right to insult someone just because they disagree with you. I have to agree with PoisonTongue, though. I highly doubt that Link talking or not talking would affect how good a Zelda anime, manga, movie, or whatever is. Sure, the old Zelda cartoons were horrible, but do you actually think it was solely because Link spoke? The reason why most people have sour memories of that cartoon, I bet, is because the story was boring, the characters were annoying (everyone, not just Link), and it was just an overall low quality cartoon. Link's horrible dialogue may have contributed to the cartoon's failing, but it definitely wasn't the deciding factor. Also, have you ever read the Zelda: A Link to the Past comics that ran in Nintendo Power, volumes 32 through 43? Link speaks in those, and I absolutely love that comic series. I even liked it enough to order the book of them, which I read every now and then. Just try reading those comics and telling me Link's dialogue isn't funny and well written. And I don't get why you think that having Link speak is bad in the first place, other than the example of the old cartoon. That's only one example -- why would that one example make anything else automatically bad if Link speaks? That makes no sense and is indeed faulty logic.

I used to have that sort of problem, too. I'm not sure if it's happening to you for the same reason, but for me, it was because (for some reason) the URL http://www.otakuboards.com wouldn't work. (It was a problem with my browser, I think -- it seems to have fixed itself, though). However, http://otakuboards.com did work, so I could still browse and post like normal. But if someone was hosting their banner on OB as an attachment and they used the www. in the URL of the banner, it wouldn't show up for me. Whichever URL you're using to view the site, I'd try switching to the other one to see if it works. If one of them doesn't, that may be your problem. If they both work, I have no idea what it could be.

I'm counting all of them; the big eyeball, the little ones that attack, and the little ones that don't attack. And no, 13's still not right. Very close, though. Edit: Bleh, okay, it's been a couple days and no one's answered. I'll just ask a different question. (The answer, by the way, was 14 -- you were only one off). Question: In The Legend of Zelda, you normally have to feed two Bombs to a Dodongo in order to defeat it. There is, however, a way to defeat a Dodongo using only one Bomb. What is that way?

Do you mean the actual process of banning someone? Basically, we just go into the moderators' control panel, type in the person's name, click a couple buttons, and they're banned. It's not exactly complicated or anything.

If Fire Red and Leaf Green give you access to the entire Pokémon world (Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn) and all the Pokémon (or at least be able to trade with R/S/FR/LG to get all of them), I'll definitely get the Leaf Green version. If they're only Red and Blue with updated graphics and maybe also access to the G/S/C Pokémon, which is what it sounds like from that article, no way. I'd rather just play my Yellow or Gold version again and save $30. Having to trade between two different versions to get all the Pokémon was fine, but having four different versions splitting up the Pokémon and the overworld? I'm sorry, but that's going too far; I'm not going to pay for multiple games just so I can explore all of one world and get the rest of the old Pokémon. Oh, and as for the wireless adapter, I'm hoping it means this. If it's just another infrared thing, I don't really care. I never got to do the Mystery Gift thing even once, except with Pokémon Stadium 2. And with that you go through a Transfer Pak to the game -- it's not even with an actual person. Oh, and by the way, I'm changing the title of the thread to be a little less lengthy, and more specific.

I've started playing Zelda II three different times before getting drawn away by some other new game. Three times! I just can't seem to get far enough into it to really be drawn in before something else comes along and distracts me. Also, Zelda II was released the year I was born, so I couldn't really play it when it was still new. That, and we didn't even have it until I bought a copy after becoming obsessed with the series. (Which was after playing Ocarina of Time). I've really only been putting off playing through it for about four years. ^_^;

I think he means the Dark Armor mission in FF Tactics Advance, which you need two pieces of Materite for. (Argh! I only have one, so I haven't been able to do it!) Question: In FF Tactics Advance, which two job classes can be used by the most races? (There's two with the same amount).
-
Yeah, it better be available some other way. If it isn't, I am going to be so pissed off. Though I guess you can always find one used somewhere after they've been released, but still... I want one new. Really though, I think I'd probably only play one of the games on there, at least right away. (I'd probably end up playing through all of them at one time or another). That'd be Zelda II, which I've been meaning to play through for quite a while now, but other games have always been coming up that I want to play. This'd give me a good excuse to play it, heh. Though I might start a new game on Majora's Mask, too; it's been awile since I played the N64 version, so I've probably forgotten some of what I've already done. (MM being the other Zelda game that I still need to get around to beating). Oh, and I love the logo for this new disc. It has the classic sword-through-the-Z, but with the Master Sword from Ocarina of Time. And the Triforce behind it looks better, too, instead of an old, beat up shield like on the LTP logo. This has got to be my favorite logo so far -- I must find some art of it by itself.

Oy...I'm beginning to wonder just how many times this is going to have to be explained. Square Enix is not Sony exclusive. If you care to look back at games before FFVII, you'll see that Final Fantasy games were on Nintendo systems before Sony had anything to do with the video game industry. Final Fantasy originated on the NES, a Nintendo system. Yeesh... Anyway... I'm past the 80 hour playtime mark, and also past the 180 completed missions mark. I've finally
destroyed all five crystals
, and now that I have, the story is really starting to get more interesting. Also, I'm starting to run out of abilities for Marche to learn, at least ones that he'll ever use. Right now I'm having him learn Archer abilities because I've had him learn all the Soldier, Fighter, Paladin, Thief, Ninja, and White Mage abilities that I've got so far, except for a couple that are being learned by other characters right now. And I'm really missing my double attacks with him. I need a Double Bow ability, lol. :whoops: Oh, yeah, and if you pay $40 for FFTA, you're getting ripped off. If you look around a bit you can get it for $30, like I did.

Misery Mire is the one where you get the Cane of Somaria. And Arrghus is the boss of Level 2: Swamp Palace, not Level 5 -- Level 5 is the Ice Palace. Remember, the Light World dungeons don't have numbers; only the Dark World dungeons do. And no, nine is incorrect. He's got more than that.

Yeah, okay, I'll just post the answer and ask a question now. The answer is A Link to the Past, and the symbol is an old Hylian rune, like the ones you see engraved on the Master Sword's pedestal. And actually, you don't need an item to see them, you need an item to translate them. That item being the Book of Mudora. Question: In A Link to the Past, how many eyeballs does Vitreous, the boss of Level 6: Misery Mire, have?

Well, unfortunately, Samgee and Olga forced me to watch this movie a while ago. There were a few funny parts, but I found most of it to be pretty boring. For me, those other movies that Olga listed top The Stupids by quite a bit. (And don't forget Brain Doners and Spaceballs, either; those are two are also a couple of my favorites). When I watched The Stupids, I only laughed out loud a couple times. The rest of the time it was just...well...stupid. The kind of stupid where you can tell the people that made the movie were trying to be funny, but failed. Of course, I will admit it probably would have seemed a lot funnier if I had been tired and hyper on sugar and caffeine when I watched it, but I don't think that makes up for much.

I'm 15, and I don't really have a curfew because, well...I don't really go anywhere. Sometimes I'll go over to a friend's house, but I can't really stay very late (unless I just spend the night), since I have to get a ride home. And every now and then there'll be a youth group event that goes late, but again, I either have to get a ride home from my parents or from someone at the event. Because of this, they always know where I am, so they don't really care how late I stay out. That kind of goes along with my practically nonexistant bedtime, though. My mom has pretty much given up trying to make me go to bed at a certain time; I've finally gotten it through her head that making me go to bed at 11:00 PM doesn't mean I'm going to actually go to sleep any time soon. So, I basically just go to bed when I get tired, which can very quite a bit. My mom basically just comes in to check her e-mail before she goes to bed and tells me something along the lines of "Dont' stay up too late, okay?" And I try not to, but I do just go to bed when I get tired enough to actually sleep, whenever that happens to be. (Right now, it happens to be about 2:00 AM, and I'm starting to get tired). So it's not really how late I stay out, but whether my parents know where I am. I imagine that, if I ever manage to get a car before I move out, it'll probably stay that way, too. I seem to be considered the "best one" out of me and my three brothers, so I think they'll trust me enough to know I'm not going to do anything stupid.

I may be using my classic warp portal avatar again, but I've made a new banner to go with it this time. As with most of my banners lately, I got the idea for it all of a sudden and so I made it. (Though I'd been thinking about making another Dark World banner for a little while, I didn't have any ideas on what to do with it). It's really not all that complex graphically, and it didn't take that long to make, but I think it portrays my thoughts rather nicely. You have to look close in order to see the whole thing, with the faded text in the background, but when you do you see that the banner has a darker, more sinister theme to it. Fitting for a banner with the Dark World as its theme, I think: The portal draws you in with its swirling colors, and only when it's too late do you realize just what you've gotten yourself into. "...Step into the Portal" ;) You can see the banner in my signature, or you can go here to see it. Your choice. ^_^
