2. Ho-oh is at the top of the Burnt Tower, and Lugia can be found down in a cave in the Whirl Islands. As has been said, you need the Silver Wing for Lugia to be there, and the Rainbow Wing for Ho-oh to be there. And yes, you get to Blackthorn City by going through the ice cave. I forget exactly how you get through, seeing as it's been years since I did it, but I remember it was pretty tricky with some of the puzzles where you have to slide around on the ice. Just keep at it, and you'll get through eventually. Or, if you're really stuck, you could look up a walkthrough on the net.

Pikachu decided to stay with Ash instead of with the wild Pikachu. This was in the episode "Pikachu's Goodbye," back from the first season. And yeah, having him PM you if you really want to know the result would be best. Something like this really shouldn't be spoiled, even if it is posted in spoiler tags.
4. Heh, yeah, I was actually talking to Mei over AIM at the time, and I asked about that.
Desbreko145: "Q: In which Zelda games do you receive/buy/earn Zora Flippers?" 8.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel From what I'm reading around... It sounds more like this is a move on TRU's part and not Nintendo's. Which would mean the MSRP for GCN's still is at $150 and they're trying to clear out overstock, which is rather likely considering the amounts that Nintendo already has manufactured and unsold so far.
No, this is from Nintendo, not just Toys R Us. It's been announced on Nintendo.com that the new MSRP is $99. *wonders once again why no one ever goes to Nintendo.com for news*
REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 24, 2003 ? Just in time for the biggest video game thrills of the fall, Nintendo of America Inc. today announced a new MSRP of $99.99 for its Nintendo GameCube home game console, effective tomorrow, Sept. 25. This great new price opens an $80 price advantage over its two console competitors.
You know, this means you can get a GCN for the same price as a GBASP. Is it just me, or does it seem weird to anyone else that a current console costs the same amount as a current handheld? :cross:
9. Dunno where to get a Sword Breaker. I haven't seen one yet. As for your Nu Mou, I suggest changing him to a Illusionist after he learns a good amount of white magic. Phantasm abilities are awesome--they hit every enemy on the battlefield, no matter what (unless it misses, of course). Or, if you can't switch to Illusionist straight from White Mage (I went from White Mage to Black Mage to Illusionist), go for a Sage. (Though I think you need a few Beastmaster abilities for that). Sages learn pretty powerful attack magic, such as Water and Aero. Or you could just switch to Black Mage and get both white and black magic, then switch to one of the other classes. And if you have the katana that teaches Double Sword (I forget its name), switch your Thief to a Ninja! Double Sword lets you hold two swords, meaning two attacks. But, it takes 999 AP to master, so you'll want to get as early a start on it as you can. It's dang useful, since you do double the damage with each attack. Besides Marche, Nikolai (my Ninja) is my best fighter now. And besides, you can always change back to a Thief once you find a Sword Breaker. And if I were you, I wouldn't switch from White Mage to Red Mage. Red Mages can only learn low level black and white magic. The most powerful black magic my Red Mage has learned are the first level elementals (fire, ice, and thunder), plus Poison. You'd be better off switching a Fencer to a Red Mage, so that you have good physical attacks and weak magic. If you switch from White Mage to Red Mage, you're going to have weak physical attacks, weak black magic, and strong white magic, which you'd have as a White Mage anyway. If you can, I'd say go from White Mage to Elementalist. Though of course, this really all depends on what the character started out as. If she started out as an Archer or Fencer, you should be fine, but if she started as a White Mage, you won't get a very good Red Mage. And you should really use at least one Bangaa; they're the most powerful fighters in the game. Start one out as a White Monk and learn Air Render and Counter. After you learn those two, switch to a Warrior and learn a few abilities until you can switch to Dragoon. (Downsize and Shieldbearer are two of the most useful). Dragoons are awesome--I absolutely love them. If they're using a spear, their attack extends out two squares instead of just one, they can learn Jump for an even longer range attack, and they also learn Fire Breath, Ice Breath, and Bolt Breath, which go out in a T pattern. My Dragoon Wilder was one of the best fighters I had, even when he was two levels lower than my other good fighters. (Currently I have him as a White Monk learning Counter, since I didn't have him learn it earlier). Also, on any Fighters that you've got, you might want to switch over to Paladin for a bit to learn Weapon Def+, a Support Ability. I have that on Marche, and arrows never do over 10 damage to him anymore. ^_^
10. Whenever I see the title of this thread, I think of that The Time Has Come song that plays when Ash is going to leave Pikachu behind with all of the other Pikachu in "Pikachu's Goodbye." I almost cried when I first saw that episode. ^_^; And because I'm the cynical type, I'm thinking they'll be interrupted or something again. Though if I had to pick one to put my bet on (even though my opinion is based almost entirely off of first season episodes since I haven't seen much else), it'd probably be Ash. Mainly because he's the "hero," and they always win in the end. Though of course, he could lose this battle and win a later one. So who knows.
11. I have a few different characters that I'm best on (my favorites), more that I'm still good on but not extremely good, and the ones that I never play because I just don't like their moves. My best, in order of preference, are Link, Samus, Roy, and Ganondorf. Link has a good mix of power and speed, and I've absolutely mastered his side smash attack and Spin Attack. I know just when to do the Spin Attack to hit them up, down, or straight out, and I'm good at hitting with both smash attack hits or, if they have too high percent to hit with both, I can time it right so that I only hit with the second, more powerful slash. I can even time it so that if someone is trying to jump at me, the second slash will come up to meet them. Not many attacks can get through that if you time it right. And it's the same thing with the Spin Attack, when people are trying to jump back up to the platform. I can time it just right so that the Spin Attack hits them back down and away, instead of hitting them up and away. I really only use his projectile attacks as annoyances to distract people while I close in for a hit with his sword. With Samus, I use her projectile attacks as much as I do her melee attacks. I've gotten really good at jumping up in the air and firing a straight-shot missile and hitting people as they jump back to the platform, as well as using them against opponents that are on the ground. Most of her melee attacks are pretty strong, and her side smash attack is nice and quick. I love using the light down+A ground move against people that try and catch me in a barrage of normal A attacks. They may get in a couple hits, but then they're going to be flying up into the air when one of my flame attacks gets through. The only thing I don't like about Samus is that her rolling dodge is too slow. For me, Roy is the master of combos. One time while playing some friends, I got it five hits with his dash attack, just dashing back and forth, hitting him up in the air with it, before finishing with either a side+A attack or side smash attack, can't remember which. I also love the light down+A ground attack-to-smash up combo. It's great for catching people off guard or breaking out or combos, much like Samus' light down+A ground attack. Then as they're coming back down, you can hit them with a side smash attack, or jump up to meet them with his up+B move. Also, I love his parry/counterattack move. If you're good with it, you can turn some of your opponent's most powerful attacks back at them. I can't help but grin evilly whenever I see Ganondorf charge up a B punch, and I'm just sitting there waiting to parry it. Okay, first off, whoever says Ganondorf is way too slow hasn't played on Ganondorf enough. I've beaten a friend (who's about as good as I am) playing on Fox while I was playing on Ganondorf, so he's definitely not too slow--you just have to know how to use him. His air attacks rule, especially his up+A and back+A moves. In fact, most of my combos on Ganondorf involve getting them up into the air so that I can use his air attacks. I barely ever use his A moves on the ground unless there happens to be a good opening for a smash attack, or if I need a quick A button punch to knock someone back before they connect with a smash attack. His down+B and side+B moves are the ones I use most often on the ground. Down+B is a nice fast attack that's good for knocking people back, and side+B is good for knocking people up into the air where, depending on the situation, I can hit them with a smash up+A, up+B, or one of his air attacks. His side+B move is also good for shooting out off the edge and smacking people as they jump back to the platform. No one ever seems to see it coming, and it also looks like you're going to fall to your death, though you can recover with his up+B. So, like I said, those are my best fighters. Others that I'm also good on include Mario/Dr. Mario, Pikachu/Pichu, Ice Climbers (am I the only one that uses them?), Falco/Fox, Captain Falcon, Marth, Peach, and Zelda/Sheik. Most of the others I'm not all that good on or not good on at all, though I can still hold my own while fighting free-for-all against three level 9 CPU players on almost every character. My worst character is probably Mewtwo. His attacks just seem way too slow; almost every one seems to have a delay before it goes off, and he jumps so dang slow, too. I've just never been able to get the hang of him, though I suppose he could be good if used correctly. I just don't like him enough to spend that much time on him.
12. Answer: The Adventure of Link - The Fairy Spell turns you into a Fairy. A Link to the Past - You turn into a rabit in the Dark World before you get the Moon Pearl. Majora's Mask - The Deku, Goron, Zora, and Fierce Deity Masks turn you into just those. Oracle of Seasons/Ages - There are a couple different rings that turn you into different types of monsters, such as an Octorok. Question: What are the names of the six forms of the end boss in Link's Awakening?
13. It's a completely different story from the original FFT. Like games in the main series, FFT and FFTA aren't related, except for the battle system. Heh, something funny happened while playing earlier. I named my clan the Red Wings, after the fleet of airships in FFIV. Now I'm fighting this group of bandits called the Redwings, lol. One mission even had me fighting three enemies called Cindy, Mindy, and Sandy (the Magus Sisters). Gotta love those references to earlier games in the series, heh. As for progress, I'm up to 50 hours (exactly to the minute, heh) of play time, and Marche is up to level 20 with 105 or so missions completed. Also, I'm finally making use of all 24 characters in my clan, and except for a couple of them, they're all in the level 14-16 range (not including Marche, that is). I love having so many characters to work with.
14. It's just random whether you get them when you stay at an inn, then? I figured it had to do with which inn you stay at. Question: In FF Tactics Advance, what kind of weapons teach Combo abilities?
15. Yes, there is Four Swords. Four Swords for the GBA, and soon to be Four Swords for the GCN. So yes, that's correct. Ask away. :)
16. Well, I've played for almost 40 hours, now. Marche is up to level 18, almost to level 19, and I've done around 80-85 missions with
three Crystals destroyed
. (I forget the exact number of missions completed). I've also got... *counts* ...19 or 20 characters that I use regularly, including Marche and Montblanc, I think. They're all in the level 13-16 range, except for one that I got just recently that's still level 12. As for the questions, like Dondar said, you'll get different characters requesting to join your clan (which is just your group of characters). The characters' race, starting job, and name seems to be random. So you kind of just have to wait for the race you want, and you can change the job, though they'll usually be best at the job they start as. About the screen, I think I'd actually like it less on a TV, though I have a GBASP. (Lighting is not an issue for me, heh. It's great playing at night in complete darkness when my parents think I've gone to bed. ^_^) The reason being, my eyes don't get bloodshot from staring at a GBA screen as much as they do from a TV screen. Same with headaches. Also, from the screenshots I've seen of the original FFT, FFTA looks just as good, graphics-wise. Sound probably took a hit, though. As for the last one, I can't really say since I've never played the first one, but I've become pretty engrossed with FFTA. Like I said, I'm up to almost 40 hours of play time after having it for less than a week.
17. We've already got a thread just like this a little ways down the page. (Click here to see it). Please look through at least the first page of threads before creating a new one. Thread Closed
18. Okay, it's been over a week since the last question was asked, and there's still no answer. I think you should ask another one instead. Unless the answer is...three? Three or four? I don't think you can stay at an inn more than three or four times (different inns, that is) with him in the World of Balance.
19. Why would playing the trading card game be any worse than playing the videogames? If they didn't cost so much, I'd still be collecting the cards. Now I'm just hoping they'll come out with another Game Boy trading card game, with all the new cards that have been released since they made the first one.
20. To get into the Ghost Ship, where you'll get the fourth Triforce Chart, you need the Ghost Ship Chart. This can be found on Diamond Steppe Island, which is to the northwest of Outset Island. (One square up, and one square left). You'll need the Hookshot to get up onto Diamond Steppe Island, and once you get the Ghost Ship Chart, you'll be able to sail up next to the Ghost Ship and you'll enter automatically. The chart also helps you find the Ghost Ship.
21. Nope, OOT isn't one of them. The sword in that logo goes behind the Z (and the shield), not through it. Link's Awakening is another, though. So there's LTP, LA, and then one more. (Well, kind of two, but they're pretty much the same thing so I'm counting them as one. And yes, this is a hint). ^_^
22. Yeah, that's one of them, but there are more. I'm asking for all of them.
23. Ah, I just got this game a few days ago... And I've already played for about 30 hours, lol. FFTA is so dang addicting! I'll just sit down and play for hours and hours. (I've finally had to use the AC adapter to play and charge my GBASP at the same time because of it). I mean, I'll be playing, and I'll think "Hey, my play time is up another hour from when I started." One hour later, "Hey, another hour already?" Yet another hour later, "Dang, I've actually been playing for three hours! It seemed like one!" And then I remember watching my play time going up and up, and I realize those are actual hours that have been passing, not just a clock in the game... And then I go back to playing. Repeat. For 30 hours. So far I've done...55 missions, I think, and
destroyed two crystals
. Marche (the main character) is level 14, with Soldier, Fighter, White Mage, and is now working on Paladin abilities. I absolutely love the way they did the job system. You can have people learn pretty much anything you want, except that certain races can only have certain jobs. And also, you only get two slots to put action abilities in, and one is always taken up with the one that goes with the character's current job. So I can have Marche as a Fighter with White Mage abilities, but that takes up both action ability slots, so I can't have my Soldier or Paladin abilities at the same time. So there's tons of customization, but its use is limited so you can't have an all-powerful character that's a good fighter and can also use every spell in the game. That was one thing that annoyed me with magic systems like the Magicite and Materia systems in FFVI and FFVII, since it makes it way too easy. I also love having such a large group of characters to work with all at once. (I think the max you can have in your clan is 24, but I'm not sure). I can have characters of every race and job, all learning different abilities, and then when they finish learning them, I can switch them around so that they're learning new things while still having their old abilities in the second slot. But again, it's limited, since you can only use, at max, six characters per fight. So you really have to balance the leveling out if you don't want to have a few high level characters and a bunch of near useless ones. It took some getting used to, but I'm starting to get quite the diversified group while keeping their levels relatively close. The only fault I've found in FFTA is that the menus are a little clunky. Unless you really study the instruction booklet, it takes a while to find out how to do everything. (And I mean really study it. I read the whole thing before turning the game on, something I rarely do but I thought I should anyway because I heard the menus were really complex, and I still had a hard time. I finally just found out today how to do the last thing I was trying to figure out). Once you do get used to the menus, though, it's not that bad--just be sure to set the cursor speed to fast for scrolling through long lists of items, lol. When I first started I had a hard time just figuring out how to check which abilities I was learning/had learned, but now it's second nature. So if you get this game and are utterly confused by the menus, just keep the instruction booklet handy and stick with it. Other than that, however, I really haven't found anything I dislike about the game. The battle system is great. Battles can actually take a while, and involve a good amount of thought in order to win, not just "cast this ultra-power spell over and over while healing." Some battles have taken upwards of twenty minutes to beat. Though I guess if you like fast-paced battles you may not like that very much. The thing is, though, something is always happening, it just takes a while for a full round of attacks/movements to finish if there are two full parties of six characters/enemies on the field. The battles are also a lot more complex than those in the main series of FF games. You not only have to think about what attacks to use and when, but you also have to think about where you and the enemies are, where they're going, your angle of attack (side and back attacks have a higher chance of hitting, which really makes a difference), the range of your attacks, the field effect of some spells... Sometimes you'll be trying to heal a fighter up next to the enemies, but since the cure spell effects five squares in a + cross pattern, you have to watch out to not heal the enemies too. Though of course, if you plan it right, you can use this to heal multiple characters at the same time, or hurt multiple enemies. I love it; you can put a ton of strategy into it, but at the same time it's easy to pick up and play without having to use a ton of strategy. Whew, I think that's enough commenting for now. I think you should be able to tell I absolutely love FFTA, heh. I think it's going to become my favorite FF game, even passing FFVI. (But can it beat Chrono Trigger as my favorite RPG? We'll have to see). No other RPG has been able to suck me in and keep me playing for so long at a time, not even Chrono Trigger. And that's one thing that I value very highly in pretty much in any type of game, since it usually also translates into a decent amount of replay value, too. But, uh...hmm...looks like this has turned into another good sized paragraph, when I meant it to only be one or two sentences. Oh well, heh. Okay, now that's enough commenting. So yeah, go buy this game. You won't regret it if you like nice, long RPGs that require actual thought in order to win the battles. For me, the story is actually secondary so far, though it's been getting more complex and interesting as I play. I'm getting the urge to play more as I type this. ^_^
24. Hmm, let's see if I can remember them all... Answer: There's the frog that rides on the Snapper in Woodfall Temple. Wizrobe in Snowhead Temple. Wart in Great Bay Temple. Gomess and Garo Master in Stone Tower Temple. I believe that's all of them, though you fight some of them in other places/later dungeons too, like Wizrobe. Question: Which Zelda logos feature a sword going through the Z in the word Zelda? (Actually through it, not just behind it or something like that).
25. A small note about favorite threads, such as this and the other one that was asking which Zelda game you like the most: Be sure to give a good reason why you like whatever it is. "OOT is cool, I like the story, it's the best," is not a good reason. You should go into why you like the story, what part you like the most, why you thought it was better than the stories of other Zelda games, and stuff like that. If you're not going to bother to write at least five sentences, you shouldn't post. And this is to everyone, too, not just the author of the thread. And about that other favorite thread, I deleted it because it was pretty much all spam. So that's what happened to it, if anyone was wondering. Right, I'm going to leave this one open, but if it gets spammy like the other, I'll just delete it too. Take a look at my response below to see how you should reply to favorite threads. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Personally, I've always had a thing for Medli and Malon, but I think Marin (from Link's Awakening) suits Link the best. During the game it actually hints at the two showing interest in each other, and Marin's personality seems to fit with Link's the best. Malon and Medli seem a little too...bubbly? Link seems pretty serious in most of the games, especially OOT. Zelda's got the whole princess thing going on, while Link has to guard the Triforce, so I don't think that'd work out very well either, with both of them being so busy. Saria is a Kokiri and Link is a Hylian, so that's out too... And I'm not even going to go into why it wouldn't work out with Princess Ruto. *shudders* Marin, on the other hand, is calm and relaxed through pretty much all of Link's Awakening, while at the same time being helpful and supportive. She can be serious enough to help Link, and I think it'd be best for Link to be with someone that can be calm and down-to-earth in the face of problems. So if I had to choose one of the girls in the series, it would be Marin. So yeah, that's my opinion. Two whole paragraphs
