1. That's exactly what happened when Ocarina of Time was released, though. People saw the un-cartoony 3D Link, and said "Whoa, that's awesome! Link is kick-***!" and things of that nature, just as they'd be saying about Link in Soul Calibur II. This time, it's just going backwards, I guess you could say. It first went from cartoony (pre-OOT) to realistic (OOT, MM), and everyone thought it was great. Then it went from realistic back to cartoony (TWW), and people complained about Link being "kiddie." (Even though that's how he had always been before OOT and MM). Now for Link's latest appearence, it's gone back to realistic, and people are probably going to complain about TWW again, saying how it would have been so cool if he had looked like he does in SCII. Instead of realistic-to-cartoony complaining about TWW, we now get cartoony-to-realistic complaining about TWW. Same thing, just coming from a different direction, so to speak. That's why I say this is nothing new, and that Link's image isn't going to change. Everyone has already seen both cartoony and realistic 3D Links, and they saw them both before it was even rumored that Link would be in SCII. That old Space World video of Link and Ganondorf fighting, and then the cel shaded Link in TWW. Everyone has probably already made up their minds about which they like, so seeing another realistic Link probably isn't going to change anyone's mind. (Unless they're just a waffler that goes with whatever's popular at the time).
2.
Originally posted by ~PrincessZelda~ I think it's your turn to ask a question, remember?
You should only ask a question if you're sure your answer for the last one is correct. If you're not sure, you should wait for confirmation, as people have been doing. But yes, you are correct, lumberjack80. Ask away. :) (Though the Stalfos wouldn't count, since they're just normal dungeon enemies, but the four Poe Sisters are correct).

What?

Yeah, spoiler tags are just so effective when it comes to keeping secrets. Really. But yeah, I originally tried getting a copy of OOS on eBay, and got something like that. In my case, the cartridge was a black Game Boy cartridge (old GB, like the cartridge in that auction, not GBC), though it had the real OOS cartridge sticker on it. As far as I can tell, it was done pretty well. The game played fine, and it even came in a real OOS box. (Though the instruction booklet was only the first two the and last two pages. o_O) But yeah, these things are always bootleg copies or something of that nature. (The one I got was also shipped from Hong Kong, even though the guy said he was from either the US or Canada, I forget which). Even if you were to ignore the old GB cartridge instead of it being a GBC cartridge, the sticker on it is also wrong. It's not even the official logo on it. So yeah, don't buy anything like this. In my case, the guy just showed a picture of the box, which as far as I can tell was real, so I had no way of knowing it was a fake until it arrived in the mail. Beware of buying Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages games on eBay. >_< You're better of trying to find used copies on GameStop.com or some place like that, if you can't find any locally.
4. Um...snake technique? What the heck is that? Also, you don't have the AX Cup up there, and those are some of my favorite tracks. (Lightning: Thunder Road is awesome!) Can I still submit times for them?
5. Heh, yeah, there's a good number more. Almost one for each dungeon.
6. I'd always gotten the impression that the Sephiroth clone that you're chasing is summoning the pieces of Jenova, or something like that, for you to fight while it makes its getaway. Because don't you actually see one of the pieces at the same time as the Seph clone aboard the Shinra boat, out of battle before you fight it? And about the whole "Who killed President Shinra?" thing, I've always thought it was the same clone that you're chasing the whole first half of the game. From its actions and speech, I'd have to assume it's being controlled by the real Sephiroth/Jenova, though. I don't think the Seph clone you chase is the same thing as the black cape guys you see in Nibelheim and the Whirlwind Maze.
7. No, I know you can get at least one of Shadow's memories in the World of Balance, because I've gotten one before getting to Zozo. I don't know the max that you can get, but... *thinks about all the times you have him in the World of Balance* ...I'll guess two. And by the way, that one is the only one I've ever found. Think you could PM me on how to get the others or something? ^_^
8. Heh, this has got to have been asked at least three times during the course of the quiz. And I think I answered it at least two of the three times. :toothy: Answer: Gohma, King Dodongo, Barinade, Phantom Ganon, Volvagia, Morpha, Twinrova (Koume & Kotake), Bongo Bongo, Ganondorf, Ganon Question: Name all the mini-bosses in Ocarina of Time. (The ones that you only find in that particular dungeon, not things like the Lizalfos in the Dodongo's Cavern or Iron Knuckles in the Spirit Temple).
9. I figure that if people are too immature--no matter how old they or I happen to be--to actually look at the game before writing it off as "gay" or whatever, it's their loss. I, like CS, also have the magical ability of not giving a rat's *cough* about what other people think or say about me. lol
10. Yep, that's it. Your turn to ask one. (Also, if you answer a question and you know you're right, be sure to ask another question. That's another thing worth mentioning to keep the quiz running smoothly). ^_^
11. Ugh, the Face Shrine. That one was evil, and it's probably also the dungeon I remember the least about. It'd probably be easiest if you IMed me some time, and I could grab my player's guide and see if I could help you through it with that... Or, you just look the info up on the net yourself. :cross: Sorry I can't be much help with this part of the game. I know everything past Level 6 pretty well, though.
12. Yes, you need to answer a question before you ask one. Please remember that. ^_^ Answer: Not including Link or Tetra herself, there's Gonzo, Nudge, Senza, Zuka, Mako, and Niko. Question: In every Zelda game before Ocarina of Time, the only way to lose your shield was to have it eaten by a Like Like. What other way could you lose it in Ocarina of Time?
13. The reason they wouldn't include A Link to the Past is because you can buy it on the Game Boy Advance. They aren't going to just give you something that they're currently making money off of. And I guess they'd release OOT again for the people that didn't get the first bonus disc. I'm just wondering if they'd also include OOT Master Quest, like the first one. It'd be cool to get a port/remake of Zelda II, though. Maybe then I'd finally get around to playing all the way through it. Every time I've started it so far, I never make it to the second dungeon before some newer game comes along that I want to play. But, um, could you post a link to the page itself, or quote the article? I can never get to Planet GameCube's homepage for some reason. And I mean never, as in it's never once worked. Except for the time where it started to work, but then screwed up and caused the browser to crash. Even after switching from 56K to broadband. They suck. :twitch:
14. Um, guys? You really should be saying something substantial about the article or quiz, not just posting to put up your quiz result. Otherwise you may as just be posting "I got ____ Link," which everyone should know is spam. And I really was hoping for some comments on the article...
15. It's been almost a week, though, since you asked that question. If no one's gotten it by now, I don't think anyone's going to. You should probably ask another one instead.
16. Thanks. I did put a lot of thought into it. Once I got all the ideas arranged in my mind, though, everything came together pretty easily. Upon James' request (though I was thinking about it already), I've made a quiz based on this article. Go here to take it. You'll have fun with this, I guarantee it. Just takes a look at James' comments. ^_^ JamesOtaku01: What an awesome quiz! JamesOtaku01: You should make more of these! JamesOtaku01: This is the best one I've seen. Nobody ever puts effort into these things
17. There's also Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on the Game Boy Advance, which has already been released in the US. But yeah, Final Fantasy was originally on Nintendo consoles. (The original first appeared on the NES). It seems like most FF fans I see on the board anymore haven't played anything earlier than FFVII, though, so they think it's always been on Sony consoles. Gets annoying after a while, when you talk about the early games and no one else knows what you're talking about. :twitch: But no, I don't think this should stay open. The only thing I can see coming from it is Sony fanboys bashing Nintendo and/or the FF games on the Nintendo consoles. Either that or Nintendo fanboys bashing Sony for "stealing" the main series. 18. Yeah, there's a manga. It follows the basic storyline of Ocarina of Time. You can find a translation on the net, but I've never actually gotten around to reading it. I keep meaning to, but I find it such a pain to read that sort of thing on a PC. I'm too used to reading actual books, I guess.
19. I'd want to be James. He's so hot, and he always gets all the chicks on OB swooning over him. That's gotta be the life...
20. This is an article I just wrote over the past two days, about the four different colored Links in Zelda: Four Swords. I thought I'd post it up here to see what people think. ^_^ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Four Swords of Link Any devoted Zelda fan should be familiar with The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, with its Rupee collecting, multi-player madness, featuring four different colored Links. But have you ever stopped to think about each Link as an individual, and not just part of the Link that was split by the Four Sword? Here, I've created personalities for each color, including their favorite item, best pairing, worst pairing, and finally a quote from each, to give more depth to each color Link. I've you've played Four Swords, you'll know that working together is the key to progressing through the game. You should also know that the game can get quite competitive, and that everything does not always run smoothly. Arguments can break out, insults can be hurled, and even violence (in-game only, hopefully) can ensue. The personalities of these four Links have been created with that in mind; each has his own goal in mind, of what they're trying to accomplish on the quest; each has varying degrees of cooperativeness and competitiveness; they do not always get along. These four Links are the roles that you and your friends take on while playing the game, and you may find that you relate quite closely to one of them. So now, without further ado, read on and discover which color Link you are. - Drake Desbreko, Zelda Lore Master September 11, 2003 Green Link - "I will not fail!" The original, Green Link is devoted solely to saving Princess Zelda and defeating the Wind Mage Vaati, facing head on the trials presented in the various dungeons he must trek through on his quest. He views the other three Links as teammates, allies in the quest, and seeks to cooperate in order to reach Zelda as soon as possible. He collects Rupees only in order to obtain the keys he needs to open Vaati's Palace, not wanting to be slowed down by extra baggage. Green Link's prefered item is the trusty Bow & Arrow. One of the most versatile items, it can be used for long-range combat and solving the dungeons' many puzzles. An ideal item for someone trying to conquer the dungeons in as timely a manner as possible. Working best together with Red Link, whose competetive nature fits well with Green Link's determination, this team works off the strengths of one another to accomplish their goals. Green Link is always trying to keep up with Red Link, causing him to push himself even harder than normal. This pair is by far the most dangerous when facing the monsters that inhabit each dungeon, and also the quickest when it comes to solving puzzles. Green Link's nature clashes with Purple Link's, causing him to work worst with him. While Green Link pushes onward to save Zelda, Purple Link lingers behind collecting as many Rupees as he can. This, as would be expected, can cause arguments. And this, in turn, causes Green Link to become even more agitated from having wasted so much time. Don't put this pair in the same room together unless you want a heated debate to ensue. Red Link - "Just try and beat me." Red Link is Link's competetive side, always fighting to be better than the rest. Pushing ahead, trying to gain an edge over the other three Links, Red Link strives to collect more Rupees than the other three. Besides beating the others, Red Link loves fighting the many dungeon monsters that are around each corner, and sees the other Links as even more of opponents than the monsters. He fights with a very cut-throat attitude, doing anything to gain the lead. The item of choice for Red Link is Bombs, suiting his highly volatile nature quite well. Not only are they powerful weapons, against monsters as well as the other Links, but they're also good for blowing open weak walls that often hide treasure chests full of Rupees needed for victory. Pair Red Link and Green Link together and you'd better look out! Nothing can stand in the way of these two, neither monster nor puzzle. With one fighting to win and the other fighting to save Zelda, both spur each other on to the best of their abilities. Don't get in their way or you'll find yourself missing your Rupees and your life. If there's one thing Red Link hates, it's having to wait around for Blue Link to come do his part in a puzzle. Red Link's temper can flare while waiting for Blue Link to finish exploring--after all, every second Red Link is forced to wait is a second he could be using to snatch Rupees from the other three. Red Link has a history of throwing Blue Link into pits and lava...when Blue Link finally gets around to showing up, that is. Blue Link - "This place is awesome..." Blue Link's passion is exploration, delving deep into the maze-like dungeons and finding their many secrets. He doesn't really care about the other three Links all that much, cooperating with them mainly just to solve the puzzles necessary to progress through the dungeons. And although he does see saving Zelda as their main objective, he doesn't see why they can't explore the dungeons a little more thoroughly. He takes the view that if you rush through the dungeons, you're bound to miss half the fun. The item for Blue Link is definitely Roc's Cape. This item allows him to jump across gaps that would otherwise be unbridgeable, letting him do more of what he loves; explore more of the dungeons. It also lets him avoid some enemies, since out of the three, Blue Link is the least interested in the fighting and is more than happy to let the others take out any enemies while he explores the surrounding area. Out of the three other Links, Blue Link gets along best with Purple Link. The most like-minded of any pair, Blue Link likes taking his time to explore while Purple Link hunts for Rupees. Because of this, these two get along better than any of the others, sometimes resulting in them ganging up on Red Link. Blue Link gets his revenge for being thrown off ledges, while Purple Link gets to slow Red Link down in order to grab more Rupees for himself. Blue Link can't stand Red Link; these two do not get along in any way. Blue Link likes to take his time exploring, which causes Red Link to become extremely impatient and sometimes even violent. Needless to say, Blue Link dislikes being picked up and thrown off of ledges or into lava, so these two have a bit of a fued going on. If they weren't technically the same person, they'd probably end up killing each other. Purple Link - "It's all about the Rupees!" Purple Link just can't get enough of those multi-colored jewels called Rupees. Zelda can wait--right now it's time to grab as much loot as you can! Purple Link is the most upbeat of the four Links; he loves it all. Whether it's fighting enemies, solving puzzles, or exploring, everything yields Rupees to keep him happy. He's driven not as much by the desire to win, as Red Link is, but more by the total amount of Rupees collected. Not that he doesn't enjoy triumphing over Red Link, that is. The favorite item of Purple Link is the Boomerang. With this item he can retrieve far-away Rupees and stun enemies, rendering them easier to defeat. This helps the four Links stay in perfect health, which means double the Rupees. Purple Link is always watching out for the other Links, trying to keep them at hull health by quickly paralyzing any potential threats. And if the opportunity for snatching Rupees from under the nose of another Link with the Boomerang arises, all the better. Purple Link pairs best with Blue Link, forming the strongest alliance between any of the four Links. Purple Link loves tagging along with Blue Link as he explores, snagging any Rupees they encounter. Since Blue Link is the least concerned about Rupees, Purple Link usually gets most everything they find. These two make the best treasure hunting group, usually collecting even more Rupees than the fierce pairing of Green Link and Red Link. When it comes to seeing eye to eye, Purple Link and Green Link are on a slant--they just can't seem to agree. Purple Link's goal is to grab as many Rupees as possible on the quest, while Green Link always tries to hurry the group past unneeded Rupees to reach Zelda faster. This clash of priorities causes frequent arguments, though they never waste too much time, since both want to get on with the quest, even if for different reasons.
21. Yeah, that's a good answer. There's a couple different ones, but that works. ^_^ Ask away.
22. I cried when Crono
died
in Chrono Trigger. Not really sobbing cried, but there were a couple tears. I just couldn't believe it. My heart felt weak, and I just sat there staring in disbelief for a few minutes, head in my hands. It was like I lost a part of myself or something. No other videogame has had that strong an impact on me. There've also been a few times where I've gotten teary-eyed while listening to certain songs from game soundtracks. The opera theme from Final Fantasy VI, Aeris' theme from Final Fantasy VII, and the ending theme from Super Mario 64 are the ones I remember offhand.
23. I'd probably be about the same if I were a girl. I've always been the type to do what I want and ignore what's "normal" or "popular," and I can't really see that changing. Heck, I already have the long hair anyway, lol. I imagine I might take better care of my looks, though, since I have a feeling I'd enjoy the guilty pleasure of toying with guys' minds. :toothy: And I'd have about the same friends, just "flipped," I guess. I'd probably be better friends with the girls I know, and not as good friends with the guys I know; the opposite of now. I'm a bit shy when it comes to girls, so I imagine it'd be about the same with guys, if I were a girl. As for the whole thing about it being easier or better to be a guy/girl, I imagine there's plusses and minuses on both sides to even them out. Really, I don't think I'd mind being a girl any more than I mind being a guy. Now, if I could be some kind of third sex, that would be awesome. :whoops:
24. Well, the original Metroid was hard. Like I said, it was a whole lot easier when I played it on Metroid Prime, though. I imagine Metroid II can't be that much harder than the original, to give me a lot of trouble now. And about not having a map, I pretty much just said screw that while playing the original and used the maps in an old issue of Nintendo Power. (Which I'll also be doing if I can ever get a copy of Metroid II). Sure, I could do it without a map, but it's just so dang annoying without one right at first. I mean, after I've played for a while I have no problem--heck, I still have pretty much every area in Super Metroid completely memorized--but when I'm just starting it's just so annoying to get lost and end up wandering around until I memorize the area.
25.
Originally posted by James Olga...your avatar scares me.
You should meet the guy pictured in it. Then you'd really be scared. ~_^ Well, I really haven't played too many NES games, since I didn't start gaming much until the SNES/Genesis era. I remember wondering how anyone could possibly manage to beat the original Super Mario Bros., but I was pretty young and not very good. So I guess that would probably be the hardest NES game I've played much. Heh, I also remember playing the original Metroid and having a really hard time. When I played it as a connection bonus in Metroid Prime, though, it was so much easier. Especially since I already knew where the Varia and Ice Beam were. Heck, with the Varia, you can actually fall in lava and jump out before you lose any energy. ^_^
